They were responsive and scheduled the estimate that same evening, which I appreciated. The tech was punctual and he called me after looking at the property, and send me the proposal very quickly. The problem is that I specifically told the receptionist/dispatcher as well as the tech to please NOT divulge ANY information to the renter that would be at the property, because I am the homeowner. They said they wouldn't. However, come to find out today, the renter was given full disclosure of all the information I was given, including the estimate price. I am appalled that my specific request was not honored, and for that reason, I will not hire this company. This is not professional at all. I have called two other companies since, and they both agreed with me and said that they would not do business with the renter, only the homeowner. He even went so far as to tell the renter that he would have to move out of the house while the work was being done, and scared him to death. This is just ridiculous and I'm appalled.
Description of Work: I called Indiana Foundation for an estimate for some water in the basement on my rental property.

Response from Indiana Foundation Service
Thank you for the response to your experience with Indiana Foundation Service. We regret that you are not pleased with what you understand to be unprofessional actions of our representative. It is sometimes difficult when the home owner is not present during the inspection to communicate directly with them. We will take this as a learning opportunity so that it does not happen again in the future.

We have an older home and after many years noticed a little water in our finished basement. We determined the water was coming through the cement block foundation. We called Indiana Foundation and scheduled an appointment. They came out and assessed our situation and, thank goodness, the problem was not as bad as we feared. While we only had an issue along one wall, we went ahead and had them install the Waterguard System all the way around the perimeter of the inside of the basement. (We were afraid they would have to dig all around the outside of the house.) They were professional and thorough. It was a two day job and they were extremely neat with their work. We are having them come back again to secure a basement wall that has shifted about 1/4" over the years. This will ensure it doesn't move anymore. With a 25 year guarantee on their work, we felt we couldn't go wrong. If you have any doubts about your basement, water issues, cracks or leaning walls, do be sure to call Indiana Foundation. They do a very thorough and solid job. Highly recommend!
Description of Work: The surveyed our basement, recognized where the water was coming from and recommended the Waterguard System. We are also having them come back to install their Geo Lock System which will keep an outer walk from shifting. It has already shifted slightly, so they will anchor it to keep it from shifting further.

Great. Very nice and knowledgable man. We have not made any repairs at this time but we will use Mr. Tinsman when the time comes.
Description of Work: Mr. Tinsman was very professional, very knowledgable and simply very nice to talk to and learn from. We have only received a quote for repairs to a leaky basement wall at this time. We have other more urgent home repairs we have to address first. Mr. Tinsman did not use high-pressure sales techniques or try to sell us on services we did not need. He also did not make our slow-leak basement wall situation seem worse than it is. We have walked away with a lot of knowledge concerning our home and things to keep our eyes on over the next several years. We will definately use Mr. Tinsman when the time comes to make foundation and basement repairs.

Their person came to the house and look at the problem make a recommendation and tell you exactly what they are going to do and give you a free estimate and you can agree to have them do it or not and they will also set up a time if you do agree for them to do it so that they can come at the time and do the work. They didn't do exactly like they said they were going to do. One of the thing they were supposed to do is they are to dig a 2 x 2 foot hole under my house every place they put a concrete anchor and then they put a post on top of that concrete anchor up to the I-beam. They didn't dig a hole. All they did was place the concrete anchor on top of the gravel that I had under that. I was going to give them a chance to respond to that before I put a comment in.
Description of Work: I used Indiana Foundation Service last week. They put support and I-beam and jack under our floor and stabilize it.

The walls look great after installation. The work did take an extra day, but it is perfect and we are extremely satsified with the final product. The Brightwall system is perfect for a waterproofed basement to make your basement walls look great, without fully finishing your basement. We re-hired Indiana Foundation because of the great work they did waterproofing our basement. Highly recommended!
Description of Work: We re-hired this company to install their Brightwall Basement Solution. This keeps any other water from entering the basement through the upper portion of the walls, as the Brightwall system redirects any water into the waterproofing system that Indiana Foundation had previously installed.

I was amazed that there was no dust. We have a tiled floor and the only tiles effected were those associated with the three ~8" holes they drilled in the kitchen. The repair has a 20 year guarantee, which is even transferable to a new owner. We would definitely refer them to anyone needing any foundation repair.
Description of Work: An evaluation of the issue and resolution was made, and an estimate given. Three holes were drilled inside the back house addition, plus two on the outside of the house. Five support pillars were drilled/driven deep below the slab and foundation to lift and support the large house addition.

Oveall, it went fine. Paige Cox and Indiana Foundation did a great job in saving me a lot of money.
Description of Work: I had Paige Cox from Indiana Foundation inspect foundation and floor supports of a duplex I was under contract to buy. Although the seller's contactor provided an assessment indicating he thought it "seemed like" the sagging floors were due to a settling foundation and age of the home, Paige provided me a clean suit and went into the crawlspace with me to show me where cut and damaged floor joists were causing the problem. Paige also provided me a detailed report to share with the seller. Unfortunately, I could not convince the seller to adequately correct the problem. So, the deal fell through. I'm very grateful to Paige and Indiana Foundation for alerting me to the true cause of the problem and saving me several thousand dollars and many times that in potential liability. If I ever have any foundation or other basement or crawlspace work, Paige Cox at Indiana Foundation is where I'll turn.

Indiana Foundations promptly set up an appointment, sent us the information/resume on the representative that was coming to inspect our house. He showed up on time and was very professional. He inspected the crawl space, external walls, and internal walls. He told us that our house needed extensive push piers because the front corner of the house was sliding away from the rest of the house. The proposal was VERY expensive. Given his confidence that this was the problem and that it sounded very 'scary', we placed a $100 deposit to get on the schedule. Because it was so expensive, we decided to get a second opinion. This particular inspector said that the main beam was sagging causing the floor to sag. This company didn't do this type of repair, but thought that the work would be much less expensive to fix. So we decided to get a third opinion since the two evaluations were so different. The third company concurred with the second evaluation. Again his company did not do this type of repair work, but pointed us to another firm. They fixed our floors with a lot of reinforcing of beams and joists. Nothing to do with push piers. Our floor is now level. I will say that the company was very prompt in returning our deposit when we cancelled our order. I would be very hesitant to trust their opinion because I don't think the work they recommended would have even fixed our problems - at a very high cost.
Description of Work: Our house had an issue with uneven floors so we called Indiana Foundation to come and inspect to determine what could be done to resolve.

We had an appointment made with them but they didn't show up, and there was no follow-up from the company regarding the missed appointment.
Description of Work: We had an appointment for them to give us estimates on repairs to a new house, but no one showed up. We received no phone call from the worker, and none from the main office. I called to report that no one showed up for our appointment, but could only leave a message. I got no call-back and no apology. I got a follow-up form in the mail from the company, asking us to rate our experience, which I did honestly, and still got no reply.

My house had foundation structural problems (rotted wood) with some of the plates and joists. I contacted Indiana Foundation Service (as well as two other contractors) in May 2012 for an assessment of the damage and what it would cost to remove the material and replace it with new. It was made clear I was relying on the contractor to assess the damage and make all necessary repairs. They inspected the problems and offered their solutions along with a price. I decided to hire Indiana Foundation Service and made an initial payment. In time, a crew appeared and went to work. They spent a day and a half working under the house. After they proclaimed the job complete I crawled under the house to inspect for final payment. I found a rotten plate and rotten end joists still in place. I phoned Indiana Foundation Service to let them know their crew had not finished the job as claimed. A couple days later they sent a couple of guys to, once again, " complete" the job. This time the work appeared to be complete. I sent final payment. In time it became quite apparent the symptoms of structural damage continued to persist. The drywall near the bottom of a wall between the house and attached garage continued bowing out. I was confused about what the problem could be because Indiana Foundation Service had already " fixed" this problem area. They were certainly PAID to fix this problem area! I had to hire a couple of carpenters out of Terre Haute to investigate why the wall was still bowing that way. They discovered it was because the foundation wood below it was rotten . . . STILL! Upon further investigation it was shown that Indiana Foundation Service had left the rotted joists (one on either side of the center beam) in place and COVERED THEM WITH NEW WOOD!. The old rotted plate beneath them was left in place and obscured with new wood as well. My visual inspection was useless because the pre-existing rotted wood was hidden from view. I phoned Indiana Foundation Service once again and told them they needed to come have a look. They did and after some fussing on their part, agreed to give me a partial refund. The refund was a small fraction of what I feel it should have been but that isn't my complaint here. I digress. When the refund was first offered I had a closer look at our contract. I discovered that they failed as well to install a new crawl space access door and frame as agreed, and again, as paid. (In my disgust I had forgotten about the crawl space access door part of the agreement.) I chose to settle for the small fraction rather than spend time valuable time in court. Here's what bothers me most: I can understand the crew forgetting or not knowing to replace the crawl space access door but how could they simply cover and hide damaged support structure with new wood? Is this a common practice for Indiana Foundation Service Inc? What other clients have placed their faith in Indiana Foundation Service only to suffer a similar failure to fulfill an agreement? What additional damage has been experienced due to Indiana Foundation Service's masking of existing structural damage they were supposed to repair but didn't? I put my faith in Indiana Foundation Service to address my problems. They failed to perform as necessary, as expected and, as PAID. My faith was misplaced. That was my mistake. So was hiring Indiana Foundation Service. Will you make it yours as well?
Description of Work: HOMEOWNER RESPONSE TO PROVIDER RESPONSE: Indiana Foundation Service, in their response to my post, indicated the " work in question had already been removed prior to our site visit . . . " This is not true. The removal work was put on hold till Indiana Foundation Service had the opportunity to see what they had done, or rather, didn't do. When they witnessed the damage (they're claiming was already removed) they showed little interest in having a good look. They reacted by first denying they were obligated to remove the rotten material they were looking at. Then, when presented with my copy of their proposal, admitted fault and offered a refund. Later, the refund offered was withdrawn. We settled for a much smaller amount. I had to settle this their way or go to court. THIS HAS BEEN A VERY UNPLEASANT (but enlightening) EXPERIENCE.

Response from Indiana Foundation Service
Thank you for your feedback, we at Indiana Foundation Service continuously strive to provide great customer service. It is unfortunate that the work in question had already been removed prior to our site visit by someone other than our company. In an attempt to provide the member satisfaction, Indiana Foundation Service refunded the money paid for the “wood repair in question” and for the crawl space door that was not installed. We do apologize for any miscommunication on our end.

IFS made the process very easy for us, they made us feel comfortable about the work to be performed, and they took a lot of care to make a very messy job (namely jackhammering portions of the cement floor and later pouring new cement) left no mess at all. Everyone was very friendly and what could have been a stressful situation was a good experience.
Description of Work: After a heavy rain storm in October we discovered that our nearly 100 year old cinderblock basement walls (unfinished basement) were leaking. We found IFS here on Angie's list and they seemed to have better reviews and more competitive pricing than other companies. We called for an estimate and made an appointment for later that week (the leak in the basement was not bad enough to warrant immediate action). Within 2 days we received a packet in the mail from IFS introducing us to Keith, the gentleman who would be meeting with us, and inside was a list of his credentials, a LONG list of references, many of which were from our immediate neighborhood - which we liked as that let us know that he is familiar with the ground water and drainage issues in our area - and an overview of what to expect during the consultation. I felt that was a really nice touch since I am a first-time home owner and had never dealt with anything like that before. Keith showed up about 10 minutes early (I loved that as I am pretty serious about punctuality) and was extremely helpful, knowledgeable, and simply explained to us what was happening with our drainage, why were seeing the leak and the options we had to fix it (even services that IFS doesn't actually offer, just so we knew everything that was available). He didn't try to sell us on anything and was very courteous - he even took off his boots when he came into the house! Keith spent a good deal of time with us and even went outside and showed us things we could with our guttering and landscaping that would help move water away from the house. He set up a quote for a sump pump with a dry-basement system that collects any moisture and routes it to the sump. He also set it up to have the footprint of the house's original boiler filled in with cement - it was just an enormous hole in the middle of the floor that went right to the dirt under the foundation. Since we were not in a huge hurry we didn't end up having the work done until this month but IFS was great about keeping in touch with us and checking in with us in the meantime. The work was accomplished in about 6 hours and there was literally zero mess left behind. The guys did a fantastic job of cleaning up, in fact the area they worked in was cleaner when they were finished than before they started, and the work itself was very neat and nice looking. We had a decent amount of water in the ground from all the snow melting last week and there has been zero water in the basement so far :)

The gentleman (owner I think) came and assessed my sagging foundation. He determined that my problem could be arrested by installing drain piping for my downspouts and the light damage done by the sagging foundation could be repaired by retouching the cracks in my stone masonry. I installed drain pipe and the problem was solved. A stark contrast to two other Angie's List contractors who proposed very costly and unnecessary repairs. Indiana Foundation is honest forthright. I would definitely recommend them to anyone with foundation problems. I believe if they do repairs they will be completely accurate in their diagnosis and fair in their business dealings.

We had an excellent experience with Indiana Foundation! We needed our basement waterproofed, wall anchors for structural stability, a new sump pump, and new windows all in our basement. Dave was top-notch. Very friendly, on-time, and thoroughly explained everything. Work was performed in 2 days. No water problems since. The super sump works great. The new basement windows are beautiful and all the work looks terrific and professional. We are preparing to have them do some more work for us, thanks to the great experience! The job was a little more than we wanted to spend initially, but the professionalism and quality of the work more than makes up for that. You do get what you pay for, and we highly recommend them!

The process started with a salesman coming out and inspecting the crawlspace to determine the cause of the problem and what to do about it. He explained that there was inadequate support under the load bearing walls, which were on either side of the main beam and that was causing the floor to sag on either side of the main beam. He then gave me a quote stating what they planned to do and the estimated price. He said they would try to make the floor more level, but might have to come out again later to jack it up some more. The work was scheduled for almost two months later. The workers came at the designated date and time and performed the quoted work at the quoted price. They were professional and worked efficiently. The lead worker fully explained everything they were doing to make sure I understood. I am satisfied that the foundation is now adequately supported. My only complaint is that the floor in the hallway still has the noticeable dip, although it is somewhat better than before. The lead worker explained that they could not completely level the floor without causing damage to the drywall in the house. He also explained that there was another area of the foundation that would need to be lifted in order to help fix the dip in the hallway. That area was not addressed by the salesman and the cost to put in jacks to lift it was not included in their quote. If I wanted that area addressed, I would have to get another quote and pay additional money. The workers did make sure the area was adequately supported (with shimming). I feel like the salesman was remiss in not noticing the additional problem area and including that in their quote to me to begin with. Overall, I am mostly satisfied with the work done as the foundation is now supported, which was the main thing. I just wish I had known the full extent of the problem up front.
Description of Work: My house has a hallway with a noticeable dip in the floor for most of the length of the hallway. The dip had been there for a long time and previous inspections had stated that the support in place was sufficient. However, I became concerned when I noticed that the dip was getting worse over time. I contacted Indiana Foundation to fix the problem by adequately supporting the foundation and making the floor more level. They came out and installed 3 smart jacks to support the main beam. They also installed 88' of 3" I-beam with pole jacks and bases to help support load bearing walls and re-shimmed the main beam. It took them about 2 1/2 days to complete the job.
