The initial meeting went well enough and the cost was within our budget. We asked about insurance & bonding since he was not on the Hendricks County contractor list. He ended up referring us to an expeditor who would operate as the general contractor providing the needed coverages & handling permits. That company did a great job and put together a good plan. We had met with Tom twice more -- once when he showed us hand-drawn plans that did not match what we had asked for (and before the expeditor was involved), and then at Menards when he tried to talk us into the cheapest doors, windows & other materials Menards carries. After missing our next appointment, we sent him a text as that seems to be his preferred communication method. Then Tom sent several incoherent text messages to us and asked to talk. We called him and without warning he said he was no longer interested in the work. This was after we had paid a tree service to remove several large beautiful trees, taken out a sidewalk, made the arrangements to have the main power supply to our house moved and basically destroyed our side yard. I'm not making any judgement calls here, simply relaying our experiences.
