Was phoned when product arrived at Window Makeover to set up appointment. The installation and clean up went effortless.
Description of Work: Replace all 3 sashes and glass. Also able to buy 2 operator caps and 3 operator handles in dark brown to replace those that were missing from other windows.

 + -1 moreWe had a difficult time getting the estimate and work scheduled -- we started the process in August of 2012. (We learned later that the person helping us was no longer doing the sales role, as it wasn't his strong point.) After contacting the main office, we were able to get the work going. The workman arrived on a Friday afternoon and got he old window out and the rebuilt one installed in just a couple of hours. He also noted that we might be getting water leakage above the window and recommended we contact a roofer to get it checked out and fixed. The window was primed and painted, so we didn't have to do anything else immediately. We will probably have them back in the spring to fix another window with the same problem.
Description of Work: We had a wood casement window on the second floor that no longer would close - possibly due to water damage - and needed to have it fixed or replaced. We contacted Window Makeover, and they were able to re-build the window instead of fully replacing it with a new window.

 + -1 moreMy first contact with Window Makeover was prior to the closing on the purchase of my new home. There were some issues identified with the windows in the home during the inspection and I wanted to have a window professional evaluate the severity. A Window Makeover representative was able to make it out to the property on very short notice and provided an assessment of the windows. They identified 4 windows (out of 40) that needed to be repaired and provided a quote to do so. After I purchased the house, I scheduled them to come out and fix the 4 windows. They arrived on time completed the job as expected. The quaility of the repair is good and the repair person was very professional. Overall, I was very happy with the experience.

 + -1 moreI called to set up a consultation appointment, the person took my contact info and said someone would call me to set up an appointment. the same night the sales person called me back. For the appointment, he arrived on time and quickly was able to determine that the brand of windows we have were not applicable to their restoration system. He said they cannot restore them to the company specifications and they do not want to delivery a poor quality restoration. He respected our time and I felt he was honest and upfront about what was possible. I would recommend them to others.

 + -1 moreJason came on the expected day and even called to say that he would be about 15 min. late and wondered if that was still OK - Grade A for communication.He inspected my window and made recommendations as to what I could do myself to improve its performance. He felt that the window was still in good condition and that if I was willing to perform a couple of simple upgrades I wouldn't need his services, otherwise they could do it for me. Being a longtime DIY'r, I accepted his proposal that I could attempt these simple modifications myself, and though I offered to pay for his trip charge and the sharing of his expert advice, he respectfully declined and hoped that I would call them again in the future for other window issues I may have. Thanks to Angie's List, I feel like I live in Mayberry RFD! Window Makeover has a really good record on Angie's List and I can understand why. This is one more local company that I have been completely satisfied with after first researching Angie's List and then having direct contact with them. Wish I would've subscribed to the List years ago!

The repair person did a very nice job, he was neat, and you could not tell he had even been there. I would recommend this process.

He suggested that Mike could help us, and Mike came out another day to go over everything we wanted to do. He got back to me promptly with his estimate for the work, and we arranged a day for him to come and do the work. That day he arrived promptly and worked for several hours. We would call Window Makeover for any future window work.
Description of Work: All windows throughout the house had sashes caulked on the bottom rail; the locking mechanism on one window was replaced, the clad was fixed on one window and 2 operator covers were replaced.

 + -1 moreJeff came out and gave me a quote and was not pushy. It took us a while to make our decision, but once we did they worked with my schedule and got them installed very quickly. Their installers did a great job.
Description of Work: We had two window frames rebuilt and four sashes replaced. We did this over buying new windows because we think it will actually last longer than a new window, they didn't have to tear out our trim inside, and they made it to match our old Caradco windows which were already low-e. We used the new material that should never rot on the frames. We had maintained and replaced parts on our old windows over the years, but we just couldn't keep up with the rot in the frames so we decided to try Window Makeover. The only downside we saw was that the wooden grid inside our windows didn't fit quite as snugly in the new windows because of how the glass fits, but it is probably only noticeable to us. When I look at our windows from inside or outside, I can't tell which ones have been replaced. We will probably do more windows next year and we won't hesitate to use them again.

 + -1 moreJob went very well. This window and others in this part of the house had been leaking for several months. Other contractors had been unable to find the leak, although there were lots of ideas. For this particular job, I was told exactly what would be done, what materials would be used, and why. Repair was prompt and as advertised. Repairman pointed out other problems to be investigated further. Work was done without my supervision which was very helpful in terms of my work schedule, and there was no mess to clean up after the job was complete. Simple, clean, excellent quality work, and best of all, no unpleasant surprises. Couldn't be better.

 + -1 moreThe job was completed just as contracted for without any extra charges. They were punctual, had the right equipment, crew and materials, completing the actual installation in one day. The new sash look great and are an exact match to the original. They cleaned up after themselves and left us in great shape. After more than a year living with the restored windows, we could not be happier. Window Makeover is a great alternative to a total window replacement.
Description of Work: Window Makeover replaced 15 wooden sash and replaced restored jambs and trim as needed using material that won't rot in the future. There makeover process was a great cost effective alternative to the total replacement window estimates that we received from other companies.

 + -1 moreThe installers, Mac and Steve, were also professional, dillegent and hard working. They worked efficiently even though it was a rather cold two days. Cleanup was complete and thorough. Their work was excellent and I would highly recommend them again.
Description of Work: 15 wood windows in our 11 year old house were beginning to show severe deterrioration, peeling and rotting. I contacted 3 window repair companies, but decided on Window Makeover for their professionalism and attention to detail on the initial inspection. I had one company tell me that they, "would come back and really look at the windows if I committed to the repair work now." Dave from Windows Makeover was prompt with the appointment time and very thorough in his inspection. When the house was originally built in 2000, we were required to install wood windows. Over the years, these windows deterriorated despite routine painting. Instead of replacing the windows, I had 15 windows repaired. The repair work was primarily done to the trim, brick moulding and window sills. 15 windows was a rather extensive repair job and it was completed in 2 days. The old wood trim was replaced by their special polymer wood product. They also have a metal sheilded sill process that I believe is patented by them as well.

 + -1 moreFrom initial estimate to installation was about two months. They kept me informed all the way and set the expectation bar well. I was very pleased. I even called them a couple weeks before the install to tell them that we had identified another rotten window we had missed, and they accommodated fixing that one at the same time as the others.

 + -1 moreI think Window Makeover could have presented me with the option of new windows to be considered before they came-out to do the work. I realize that the schedules between Dave and Dave Howard were to be coordinated and that made things more complex. I know that they primarily repair damaged windows and that is a focus. I don't think dismissing a customer who has been a good customer in the past is good business practice. I just wanted an explanation of why no further discounting was to be considered and we may have still been accepting of the repairs and the bill as well. They shut the door. It's unfortunate that they made such an abrupt decision. If Window Makeover is not sure how to address a customer's concern and recommend working with a particular contractor that they trust, things may get real complex if that contractor doesn't fully support Window Makeover's position for the work proposed (in this case due to cost). I got a good taste of how contractor "politics" goes. The guy who "doesn't do windows" really replaces windows but is afraid of losing business because of the relationship he has with a window repair company who recommended him. What about just getting the customer the best long-term solution, what happened to that concept-? I also didn't take kindly to the sign placed in my front yard that I gave no consent for and was not picked-up after they ended our business relationship. It has since been recycled.
Description of Work: Dave came-out to look @ the back of my house and recommended a person (Dave Howard) to address the leak issues we had in that area. He didn't think that the windows (that his company had repaired previously) were the issue. He did recommend that we have some frame and sash work done with them to keep the existing windows and get them to function better. We were initially open to it, but when we got the estimate it didn't seem that they had discounted enough work toward the previous work that they had done on some of the same windows. I was not home @ the time and my wife didn't feel comfortable signing the proposal. She had not been involved in the work previously. Dave proceeded with completing part of the job and hoping we could work-out the rest of the details ($). They had fit us into a busy schedule and couldn't lose the work day. I had asked him previously about just replacing the windows and he still seemed to think repairing what we had would be more cost-effective when compared. I hadn't seen a proposal @ that time. We initially didn't get a new replacement window quote. Once Dave Howard got done addressing the apparent source of the leak and we were ready to proceed with the rest of the window repairs, he wondered why we would not consider replacement windows because it MAY be a better long-term solution. We decided to look into it and certainly the cost of replacing the windows that they had not discounted (one fully and a few minimally of about 17 windows to be addressed) was comparable. When I discussed that with Dave by e-mail he immediately decided that Window Makeover would not charge me anything for the work that was completed (more than fair) AND that his company would not do any other work for me (SHOCKING). I would highly recommend anyone who has to face window wood rot or damage to consider both options before proceeding with any work to be done. No matter the schedule concerns.

 + -1 moreI called Window Makeover and Dave came out the same day 4/13/11 to give me the estimate. The price was reasonable and I paid a 50% deposit for them to schedule my installation date. They told me upfront that they were three weeks out for the installation, which was not a problem. Several days later they emailed me an installation date of May 4, 2011. They arrived on time on their schedule date and restored the window sashes. They did great work and I was very impressed in them restoring my windows.
Description of Work: I had 6 aluminum clad windows that the wood sashes were rotted out on the bottom. Window makeover replaced all the wood around the glass and restored it to its original condition.

He did not try and sell me more than I needed. They repaired several of my casement windows for the price of just 1 replacement window. The craftsmen were on time and very polite.
