+ -1 moreI was confused with their pricing and would have appreciated them mentioning the tax with the estimate. Make sure to ask when you get the estimate if there will be additional fees.
Description of Work: They came out and gave me an estimate for a new air conditioner. The estimate they gave me was 2995. They didn't mention that there would be an additional charge to this price. After they finished the work, they gave me a bill for 3164. They said that this was because of the tax, etc.

+ -1 moreAfter getting the estimate from Williams on Friday, we decided to get another since the cost seemed high to us. The very next day the 2nd company came out, gave us a written estimate. The 2nd company seemed to know more about the products they were selling and went into great detail about the products answering many of our questions that Williams hadn't been able to answer. We decided that evening to go with the 2nd company. On Monday AM when we called Williams to let them know we were going with the other company, the salesman got very nasty with us calling us liars, saying we had a commintmnet with them - nothing in writting had been given us by them at all and we had signed no contract with them. Very unprofessional of them to say the least! Strong arm tactics at their best.

+ -1 moreI have seldom been so impressed with the professionalism and competence that Mark Clem brought to his job. Our humidifier was malfunctioning and we called Williams Comfort Air and scheduled a service call. Mark not only repaired our humidifier, but he checked our entire heating system. We needed the furnace filter replaced and he had the correct one on his truck. He carefully explained the advantages of their maintenance program. I feel that Williams Comfort Air will keep our HVAC system in top performing condition.
Description of Work: Mark Clem repaired the humidifier on our furnace, checked our heating system,replaced the filter in the furnace and put us on a yearly maintenance program.

He did not leave any quote in writing, but promised to send email of detailed quote. No quote was obtained after 2 weeks. Decided to go with a different company ( Decision made on the fact Williams was more expensive, solely based on memory from visit, and due to never obtaining written quote)

+ -1 moreThe replacement of the system went well in of itself until they failed to replace the discharge line to the water softener back into the drain. When the softener recycled it pumped salt water all over my entire lower living quarters. They admitted their mistake and immediately started the cleaning up process. Months later I was still fighting with Williams Comfort Air and Tom Doll to get the project completed and to finish paying for my losses. I am now having to resort to litigation for their mistake.

+ -1 moreI did not have a very good experience with this company. Unless they have recently undergone a change of staff or management I do not think that they are responsive and I think that they are expensive. I had them tell me once that they could not get to my house for 3 weeks.

+ -1 moreMy cousin said the servicemen of some companies are trained to sell you more than the actual repair, and unfortunately, I was the target of such a practice. I ended up spending $94 for a scam service call, and $20 for a new thermostat, but at least that was thousands less than replacing the furnace, as Williams Comfort Air was pushing. If you want a correct and honest diagnosis of your HVAC problems, I highly suggest you NOT consider this company. At best, they are incompetent, at worst, fraudulent. I am going to ask that they refund my $94, but I doubt that they will as they are probably pleased that their serviceman quoted me expensive repairs in order to steer me to buy a new furnace from them. This was the WORST experience I have EVER had with a repairman, so I thought I would warn others about this company!
Description of Work: My furnace would not ignite, asked for an estimate to fix it. The serviceman ignored the diagnostic lights on the furnace circuit board, which indicated the furnace was operating properly. Did not check out my thermostat, and after taking brief multimeter readings, informed me that I needed $800 of repairs (replace circuit board and igniter), but that he suggested replacing the furnace, since it was 11 yrs old. I asked him how the igniter and circuit board could fail at exactly the same time, at which time he told me that just the circuit board had failed, but that he was simply suggesting it would be a good idea to replace the igniter because of its age. I asked him why the diagnostic lights on the circuit board were indicating the furnace itself were OK, and why the A/C, which was controlled by the circuit board was running fine. I don't remember his answer, but I did become highly suspicious of his diagnosis. I told him NOT to make the repairs but got an estimate on a new furnace from them. Since then, my cousin came over, looked at the diagnostic lights on the circuit board, went to a home improvement store and bought a new thermostat, installed it, and now the furnace is working fine. It was the $20 thermostat, not the $800 circuit board and igniter! (My cousin is NOT a furnace serviceman, but his diagnosis was correct, while the "professionals" diagnosis was incorrect and would cause me to spend MUCH more money.)

+ -1 moreTom came and gave us some options for upgrading our very old heating and air conditioning units. He presented two types of systems that he felt would meet our needs. We decided on the non-heat pump units which he installed in a timely manner. The only hiccups we had were that we had to correct him on the unit that we had decided on. Although we had to call him back a few weeks later to ask about a Vectren rebate, he readily submitted all the paper work for our Duke and Vectren rebates. All in all it was a very good experience.

+ -1 moreScheduling with the office was very prompt and professional. They had a preventative appointment available within 1 week to align with my schedule. The service technician (Doug) called when he was on his way and arrived during the agreed time. He explained the service in advance, offered for me to stay with him, watch and ask questions. Beyond the agreed service, he asked if it would be OK to conduct a free safety check on my air conditioners. He noted that the units were dirty and took it upon himself to quickly clean debris from them.
Description of Work: Completed annual preventative maintenance on two gas furnaces and a humidifier.

+ -1 moreWe have used Williams Comfort Air for HVAC equipment and service for many years, but have not been satisfied with their service since the company changed ownership and the most qualified technicians were not retained by the company. They have missed appointments, not returned calls, and not been responsive to equipment problems. At the time of the ownership change, we had a prepaid contract for the seasonal maintenance. When it expires, we will not likely renew.
