The overall experience was very good. The first night when the heat went out the guy was on call and called us back almost immediately to let us know they'd be here. They installed it on Saturday. The furnace had gone out either Wednesday or Thursday. The technicians were really good, they got everything hooked up, up and running. . They were quick to answer my questions. id idn't have to chase them down or try to decode what they were trying to tell me. They were here late because they were waiting on a train to get their parts. When they got here they stayed until after dark and got it all done in one day.
Description of Work: Williams Comfort Air installed a high efficiency furnace and AC unit.

They seem very professional and they do the job reasonably quickly so that they can get out of here. They seem to do a good job; they are the best that I have had. I think the price is competitive, but I haven't compared their prices in several years.

OK overall, but not likely to use again for plumbing due to price.
Description of Work: Kitchen sink spray holder replaced - A $3 part, which I provided and the technician installed. He was prompt, professional, and courteous. I have used William Comfort Air in the past when they installed a new heating/air conditioner and have been exceptionally pleased with the company. However, I think the price for this plumbing job was too high. I also had a faulty tub/shower diverter valve that needed to be replaced and was quoted a price of over $1,500. I called another plumbing company to get a second opinion and was delighted when they suggested that I buy the part at my local plumbing supply store as this was an easy do-it-yourself job. So, for $13 and the price of some teflon tape - my shower is back in business. I will use them again for heating/cooling maintenance, but will not likely use them again for plumbing needs.

I thought that they were really good. They were a couple of young guys. My girl friend was here the whole day with them and when I got home they were still working here on a Friday night. They were very professional, did a very good job and worked very hard. I don't know what could have been any better really. I went with them because I had heard a lot of good things about them. I had read a lot about them on Angie's List too. They are a topnotch company. They were a little bit expensive.
Description of Work: I had a new furnace and an air conditioner installed by Williams Comfort Air in November.

We spent $93 on his services. We weren’t here when he came to do the job. We thought he was reasonable on price. The quality of job seems good. His responsiveness was good and he was on time. He was punctual and that’s one thing that we liked about him. He wasn’t late. We will use his services again in the future. In fact we just called him and we’re waiting for him to come out. We just called him this morning and he said that he would come today.

I called for an estimate. The gentleman who gave me the estimate was prompt, honest and told me exactly what was to be done and when it was to be done. It ended up being done earlier than expected and everyone was wonderful. They all really knew what they were doing. I just gave them a key and said "call me when you are done". They did and everything was great. I would recommend this company to anyone. Thanks!
Description of Work: I replaced a very old heating and cooling system with geo thermal. Each person that I had dealing s with was knowledgable, kind and respectful. They not only got the work done when scheduled, but about a week ahead of time. This was during an especially difficult time in my life, and they were so great. I would recomment Williams Comfort Air to anyone who is considering geo thermal heat. Way to go guys!!!

The company told me I'd have to re-schedule. I wanted them to either refund my money, or return on my schedule since they were the ones who had missed the appointment which they had confirmed the day before. They refused to refund my money. After much discussion, they finally agreed to come out at 5:30pm the next week to accommodate my schedule. I left work early that day to make sure I'd be there just in case the tech arrived early. The tech didn't show up until 7:30pm. He was 2 hours late. Nobody in management at this company bothered to call me to apologize, nor did they call me to inform me that the technician wouldn't arrive by 5:30 as previously promised. I have not heard from this company since the technician left my house at nearly 9:00pm that evening. This company will tell you anything about their service in order to make the sale, but they don't back those words up after the sale. I requested to talk to the owner of the company to express my dissatisfaction, but he/she never returned my call. If customer service is important to you, I'd look elsewhere at other companies. 1/25/12 I have since worked with Tina at Williams Comfort Air, who tirelessly convinced me to re-schedule service. The Technician, Joe, was on time, courteous, and thorough. I was at first reluctant to give them a second chance, but felt comfortable with Tina's promises that they take customer service very seriously. I was also comforted by Joe Huck's explanation and the fact that he didn't choose to point blame everywhere else. Williams Comfort Air promised me they would get it right and they delivered. My faith in them as a business that takes customer service seriously has been restored. I look forward to this kind of service in the future. Thanks Joe Huck, Tina, and especially Joe the technician.
Description of Work: I purchased a furnace/ac service agreement from Williams Comfort Air last winter. I chose them because a year earlier, I had purchased a high efficiency hybrid furnace/ac from them. I set up an appointment to have the tune up performed on 8/31/11. They called me on 8/30/11 at 4:30pm to confirm that I'd be home for the appointment. I told them yes, I would. I took half a day off work to make sure I'd have plenty of time for the appointment. They were scheduled to arrive during a window of time between 8:00 and 10:00am. At 10:30am, I called and was notified that the call was canceled because I didn't answer their phone call that morning. They called my cell phone, not my home phone and my cell phone was off. I had already confirmed the appointment the day before, so they should have expected that I'd be there waiting.

I apologize that we failed to provide your service at your scheduled time. I understand your frustration in having taken vacation time specifically for this appointment only for us to drop the ball. Our dispatchers are required to get confirmation the night before and also the morning of a first appointment in case a customer's schedule has unexpectedly changed from the previous evening. They are also trained to call both numbers listed in the customer file to ensure contact with our client. This was not done in your case; only one number was called. When you graciously rescheduled, that appointment was entered as an “after 5:30” call rather than a firm 5:30 appointment. Our customer service representatives are trained to give a time block in which our technicians will be on their way, but the firm appointment time was not noted although they are trained to enter all documentation of every call into the customer's file. Lastly, you did very clearly ask for someone in our management to contact you, and that message was not conveyed as it should have been. I regret that your concerns, frustrations and disappointments were not addressed in a timely manner due to internal errors. Customer service is a vital part of the value that we bring to our customers. These processes are being highlighted during our weekly meeting to prevent future similar experiences. We have a great team of people, but we definitely make mistakes... and we made many all in a row here. You are a valued customer and I would like the opportunity to earn your trust in the future. They came out on a Saturday to do the estimate, which was great because my husband and I both work full time. They offered to install the HVAC system just 2 days later, but waiting until Thursday was better for our schedule. All questions were answered in a very straight forward manner, and we are very pleased with our new system.

The two Williams employees were very considerate and worked very efficiently to install our new unit. It seemed to take less time than anticipated. They performed an extra request by moving some dirt after installing the new unit.
Description of Work: We had a new air conditioner installed with higher energy efficiency and a quieter unit. Williams placed the new unit away from our patio, where the former until had been. I am extremely pleased with the new Trane unit.

All went well. With a 20 year old furnace even with it working well, we were prepared for a 'doom and gloom' forecast for our furnace. Brian was honest and reported that for the age of the equipment all looked good. He was professional, friendly and courteous. When the time comes for our unit to be replaced, Brian at Williams will be the one we will call.

Jeremy provided the estimate. He was on time, professional and knowledgeable. He provided the detail I needed to make this major decision. On the day of installation, the installers, Doug and Jerry, were on time and walked through the installation process. They were also very tolerant of my very friendly dog. They did a very neat job, used drop clothes through out the house, sweep and generally cleanded up. Doug walked me through the new equipment and the all the points of the installation. He also explained some the old duct work and how the old dampers worked. I am very pleased.

Regular maintenance on AC unit completed as scheduled with no problems or issues with the service.
Description of Work: We purchased a new AC unit from Williams Comfort AIr last summer and signed up for the maintenance program at that time. During the past year we have been very satisfied with the service provided. The company's customer service representatives are pleasant, accomodating and call prior to the technicians arrival as discussed during the maintenance scheduling. The service technicians have always arrived on time, are professional and pet (dog) friendly. We have renewed our maintenance program for another year. The renewal price listed included a $25 gift card the company had previously sent to be used toward any purchase or service. We would recommend Williams Comfort Air to others.

Our A/C unit was making some loud knocking noises and seemed to be kicking off and on persistently without cooling the house. I contacted Williams Comfort Air as they were the original installers (employed by the builder). Williams Comfort Air had done the majority of our neighborhoods HVAC work when the houses were built 8-15 years ago. We had been using Williams Comfort on a service agreement to perform bi-annual maintenance on our HVAC since we bult 8 years ago. They had also serviced our water heater and sump pump (we had multiple problems with the service related to the sump). In contacting Williams Comfort to schedule the A/C service call, I was notified that our service agreement had lapsed. I renewed the agreement over the phone. The service technician came out on Friday Sept. 16th. He spent some time inspecting the unit and writing up the issues. He explained that there were multiple things blown out on the unit and that it would cost apx. $3500 to repair, but that he would recommend replacing the unit and that if I went ahead and replaced both the A/C and the furnace (which is working fine) I would get a discount and that likely the furnace was reaching the end of it's life anyway. The service call cost me $74 in addition to the annual service agreement renewal cost of $169. I was told that the service call fee could be refunded if I bought a new system. The service technician was conveniently able to schedule an appointment with a sales consultant for that afternoon. The sales consultant came out and put together a quote for the A/C, A/C and furnace, and a third quote for the A/C, furnace and a heat pump. I told him I would need to discuss it with my husband. He said if I booked for Monday installation, he could give me the additional 10% off that is supposed to be provided as part of the service agreement. The sales consultant was diligent in following up with us over the weekend. Fortunately, my husband was insistent that we get a couple of quotes before doing anything. We contacted Appel Heating and Cooling based on a recommendation from a friend and high Angie's list ratings. The gal who answered the phones for Appel said it was highly unusual for the multiple components of the A/C unit that Williams Comfort said were broken to have gone bad at the same time. She recommended that they send a service technician from Appel out for a second opinion before sending a sales technician out to quote on replacing the whole thing. It turns our that the only issue was a burnt out capacitor. Appel replaced this part for apx. $230 and the house is nice and cool. I feel as though Williams Comfort Air took advantage of my lack of expertise as it relates to HVAC systems. I know that they have recently installed several replacement systems for neighbors and it makes me wonder if they were taken advantage of as well. This is very unfortunate for Williams Comfort Air as we will no longer be using their services and I will certainly be sharing my experience with friends and neighbors who I will now refer to Appel.

Thank you for allowing our HVAC manager Tony, with our Customer Assurance representative Tina, into your home for a second time. After Tony opened your furnace he immediately realized WE made a mistake. We installed the incorrect igniter switch causing the furnace to misfire. Tony immediately replaced the switch and the circuit board to make this situation right. For the mistake I truly apologize but I am grateful we were able to make it right. To clarify the actions taken by Williams Comfort Air and to respectfully expand upon your air conditioning complaints, our documented information pertaining to your listed complaints follows. On September 16, 2011, our customer service department received a call about your Trane system making a “thumping noise when turning on or off.” Our service technician, Alan, was dispatched to your home. Upon arrival, Alan found condenser fan motor short cycling and on shut down thumps. The compressor was not running. The compressor had blown out the capacitor and burned away the common lead. An OHM test of the compressor showed electrical damage to the compressor but it had not shorted windings. Alan stated on the Summary of Findings “the compressor should be replaced before elec[trical] burn out. Cond[ensor] for motor should be replaced due to bad shaft end bearings. Capacitor burned out and must be replaced.” Along with the price of the dual capacitor, Alan listed the costs to replace the compressor and condenser fan motor due to the damage these items have. Weighing the options of repair versus replacement, a Comfort Consultant was asked to visit your home to give an estimate on new equipment. There may have been a bit of confusion with the installation date and discount. Our Comfort Consultant, Frederick, offered a 10% discount on your new system which is 5% more than the maintenance agreement price and gave an option of installing as early as Monday. Our Customer Assurance Representative, Tina, took a call from you later that afternoon. After listening to the concerns, Tina immediately apologized for any misunderstanding and sprang into action. Allen arrived on time, and was pleasant to deal with as well as being very professional in his work. When he finished the area was clean and back to normal. We had a short discussion about the placement of my thermostat as well as the use of my gas fireplace as a heating element. His answers were clear and concise and answered my questions very well.

They had the same guy that replaced my furnace come out to give me a bid for the airconditioner. I have received good service from them. Nick Hogan their service technician is very upfront and does a good job.
Description of Work: I have had them come out twice. They replace my furnace last year. They gave me a competetive bid to replace my airconditioning this year. The only thing is the service technician will always try to sell you something. The estimate was for a 3 ton 14 Sear Air Conditioner.

I requested an energy audit of my home. They arrived to late to complete the first time and required to be rescheduled. They were late again the second time. They asked me questions about why I suspceted problems. After setting up their equipment, they started. They used an infrared camera to look for heat loss. The problem is they did not scan all my windows and wall areas. They looked at a couple of vents, windows, interior walls. They took a peek in the attic and crawl space and than made general assumptions based on the peeks and my responses. They looked at the furnace. I expected them to inspect all windows, doors, walls, vents and duct work, attic, and crawl space so I would know which windows needed replaced. Not assume all windows, which exterior walls and vents and not assume all. I may have misunderstood what to expect from them, but I did not feel completely comfortable with everything they were telling me. They then wrote up an assessment for me.

Back in June we were deciding on a home improvement and one option was to replace our old air conditioner. Since we use Williams Comfort for service and have been happy with them we decided to get a quote from them. Jay came out, took a look at our old units and provided a quote. Since it was unseasonably cool he offered us a really good deal to replace both the air conditioner and furnace (which was only 5 years old, but was inefficient, a poor off brand and installed improperly). After some thought we decided against it and told him so. About a month later we were in the middle of a record breaking heat wave and our air conditioner calls it quits. At this time my wife is 8 months pregnant and neither of us are handling the heat very well. We frantically contact Jay and ask if we can get it replaced. Just out of curiosity (not that we were expecting it) but we asked if he would honor the old quote and to our surprise he agreed. He was able to come over the next day and even get the crew out within 24 hours after that. The crew arrived early in the morning and went straight to work. Beyond the normal tear down and assembly It turned out that the line that ran from our air conditioner to the furnace was too small so they had to run a bigger line into the house. There was also some mortar that was in rough shape so they patched it up. The crew was very friendly and hard working and managed to get everything done by evening. The only issue was that our furnace is in a non-climate controlled garage so the duct work tends to condense water. During our quote we were told by Jay that this would be insulated to prevent water from condensing and to keep efficiency up. We decided to pay by splitting the bill and paying some by check and some by credit card. The crew ran through the card and told us that it was being rejected. This was odd since we knew we had the credit freed up and have never had problems with the credit card before. Since it was Sat there was nobody in the office to run the transaction so they told us that Jay would contact us later to work out the details. Jay did e-mail us Sunday morning with a two line e-mail asking how we could "resolve this?" We asked if he would like us to contact the credit card company to ask why it was being declined to which he wrote a one line e-mail asking us to do so. We contacted the credit card company and it turned out that the transaction was approved the first time and subsequent denials were to prevent them from charging us multiple times for the same item. We got the confirmation code from the credit card company and e-mailed it to Jay. We also asked him about the insulation that was supposed to be done over the ductwork in the garage. That e-mail was sent on 7/25 and as of this writing (8/19) we have yet to get a response from him. We have e-mailed him multiple times asking for him to at least give us a reason why the work was not done. This is unfortunate as the rest of our service has been fantastic. So if you use Williams Comfort be sure and get absolutely everything resolved before you hand over payment. You're not likely to hear from your salesperson post transaction.

They proposed that I needed to replace everything, which would have cost up to $9,300. I decided to go with a second opinion, and only had to pay around $300 just to replace a couple parts. Everything is now working fine.
