Long and short, you get what you pay for. Williams Comfort air may not be the cheapest but they stand behind what they do. We had them install a new Geothermal system about five years ago at a substantial cost of $15,000. We have paid for their CareFree maintenance program each year, which gets you two checkups a year for less than $200. In my experience Williams Comfort Air technicians always call ahead and are always on time. As part of the Geothermal install we had the water heater replaced and attached to the Geothermal assist. A drain line was installed improperly leading to rusting on the outside of our new water heater. This was not noticed for two years as the water simply ran into the pan they installed and evaporated. Williams replaced the water heater and fixed the drain at their cost. They did the repair quickly and with no complaints or hassle. Mistakes happen however Williams Comfort Air stands behind their work. You can?t ask for anything better than that.
Description of Work: Matt R stopped in today as part of a maintenance contract to maintain my Geothermal Warranty. He called ahead and showed up on time.

the entire process was very professionally handled. The sales rep was very knowledgeable, courteous and timely. The two installers were punctual, friendly and efficient. The sales rep connected me to a Vectren rebate for the furnance and thermostat. The technician demonstrated the operation of the furnance and thermostat before he left.

They are very close, but they are not as quick as we might expect being so close. They are really on the high end and want us to buy into their service agreement. They said that we could get the repair for much cheaper if we buy their service agreement, but in turns out some things that we thought were covered aren't covered. The price was kind of high and they are just real expensive. The water heater sprung another leak in a different spot, they didn't spot the one that was going to start leaking, and my husband fixed it. We might probably use them again in the future, maybe if I had enough money and if my husband couldn't fix it.
Description of Work: We used Williams Comfort Air for water heater repair. The water heater in the garage sprung a leak and there was no hot water, and they fixed it.

Jim the sale person was very helpful,polite,and very aware of the products.I got SIX GUYS for the installation day, they were very polite on the job and they cleaned afterward ,the thing is they had the wiring to the thermostate going thru the wrong circuit for 48 hours we were BURNING like sauna and very hard to breath after the work was done .with the help of jim the sale rep they send a experience technician and he got it fixe .you thing to begin with they would have sent some one with more experience or some manager come and check on the crews.after all is the company is as good as its employees.

They were professional but their prices were ridiculous. They tried to oversell me. Their pricing is always my problem. I would not use them in the future.

The only problem was that some part was bad from the factory and of course, it broke over the weekend during an especially cold spell. Additionally, there was some problem with the company's phone system so it took hours to reach the person on call, who did come out and see that it was broken but could not fix it until the following Monday... so my kids were cold upstairs for a couple of days. I didn't feel that our discomfort was appreciated by the company, but after voicing my displeasure, they offered a free service inspection.
Description of Work: I had a heat pump, furnace and AC installed in the upstairs of my old farm house. The men performed the job in the time they said, there was no mess, and it has lowered my heating costs tremendously.

Be very careful when this company tells you that something is covered by warranty. Humidifier installed Nov. 2009. Tech wrote on ticket "5 yr Parts & Labor." Did not give me a copy of the warranty but I didn't ask for it, I just relied on what the tech said. Humidifier valve failed Mar. 2012, causing water to run through the system even when turned off. When I called for service, I was told that there would be a $74 trip charge. I said no, this is under warranty that includes labor, and I could try to fix it myself for less than the trip charge. She called back and confirmed the warranty, and said that I would pay the trip charge only if the repair was not covered by the warranty. But that the charge would be $94 because I no longer have a maintenance agreement with them. I confirmed that I would not have to pay the trip charge if the repair was covered by warranty. They gave me a prompt "first in morning" appointment and the tech was very timely and professional. The tech very promptly confirmed that the valve had failed and would be replaced under warranty, but there would be a $94 trip charge or "diagnostic fee." I explained that I had specifically asked about this and was told the trip charge would be applied only if the repair was not covered by the warranty. He said he would have to talk to his boss. When the tech returned, he said that the repair would be done for no charge because I had been "misinformed." Furthermore, he said the warranty was only for parts, not labor, despite what was written on the invoice. He said they would repair it for free this time, but never again, although apparently it is certain that I will have to replace this valve every couple of years. As he replaced the valve, the tech told me that the humidifier was installed in such a way that it uses 18-20 gallons of water for every gallon that is put into the air. He said that if it had been installed differently, the amount of wasted water would have been cut in half, and in fact he never installs humidifiers the way it had been installed. This option was not explained to me at the time they sold me and installed the product. After he finished, he handed me a statement that his boss told him to write. The statement was that valve had failed due to "poor water quality" (apparently meaning Carmel water that is not softened). It stated that under the Honeywell warranty (which I was never shown), the unit must be "maintained" by a service technician (not clear how often or what this maintenance consists of), and since Williams Comfort Air had not "serviced" the unit for two years, the warranty was void. It further stated that unless I purchase a maintenance program, Williams would not honor the warranty on the unit. I will give them credit for backing up what they later said were their mistaken statements that the warranty included labor and the trip charge. As a result I paid nothing for this repair and the tech was very professional. But I question the stance they are now taking. I was not shown the actual Honeywell warranty so I have no idea whether it includes "labor." In any event, be aware that even for a "parts & labor" warranty this company may take the position that even a minor warranty repair requires payment of a $94 trip charge. Also, I question their new position that failure to have them "maintain" this unit voids the warranty. If the warranty is void because of unsoftened Carmel water, or if some special "maintenance" was required, they should have told me that when they installed the unit. They know the "quality" of Carmel water. It is also unclear to me what "maintenance" they could do to prevent this from happening. The water runs straight from the line into the valve. Does the maintenance mean disconnecting the valve and somehow cleaning it out? I checked the owner's manual online, and all the maintenance it recommends is to other parts, not the valve, and nothing that touches water before it enters the valve. Again, the advice is that if this company offers a warranty, ask them at the front end whether the warranty will be considered void by them if you don't have them come out and "maintain" or "service" the item and what that maintenance consists of. Again, they fixed the problems this time and I appreciate that, but the experience revealed issues with the company's stance on warranties.

My name is Josh Huck and I oversee Todd and our Service Department. I have reviewed Todd’s findings as well as Danny's paperwork from the 11/16/09 installation of your humidifier. You are correct, Danny wrote the wrong thing down on the invoice and it clearly states “5 year parts and labor warranty”. I am in hopes that you agree you incurred no charges relating to this repair upon Todd realizing that the installing technician was in error. After discussing with Todd some of your comments - I obviously have some additional product training to do, as his statement regarding the water consumption is false. The powered humidifier costs the company the same amount as the bypass version that you have. They both have equal effectiveness and both of their maximum output varies from 16 gallons of water per day to 18 gallons of water per day. Both of these figures depend on the humidity levels in your home, the control wiring configuration and most importantly the heating cycle run time. In a residential application, the likelihood of reaching the maximum input level of the humidifier is very slim. Additionally, the model you have is a tad oversized to allow maximum saturation should your heat run a lot and the humidity levels drop dramatically. I did not demand that Todd write anything entrapping you, your home and your humidifier to potentially void a stated warranty. Should we wish to get technical, the invoice that you agreed to in 2009 states neglect, acts of God or nature and failures to maintain your systems that lead to equipment failure are not covered by any warranty, namely the manufacturers. Todd’s assignment was to have a level headed conversation with you to get your understanding that our company cannot take a part back to a manufacturer where the home owner knowing neglects to treat their water and/or maintain their HVAC system. More important was to get simple documentation and acknowledgement that you understand how things that we cannot control cannot be expected to be covered under warranty (i.e. minerals in water that are so bad they fail an electrically powered valve – that takes a lot of calcium and deposits to finally fail it). Nearly two years had passed since our last recommendations to you and your system, which Todd explained showed in the condition of the equipment. No different than an auto manufacturer dishonoring a vehicle’s stated warranty because the driver chose to not maintain the vehicle, our industry is very similar. Our parents didn’t teach us to maintain our HVAC equipment like our cars, so our job as HVAC professionals is tough. Your HVAC equipment operates 5 to 10 times more than your vehicle and has nearly as many mechanical parts, but you’d never go 15,000 miles without maintenance. In summary, we did exactly as we had promised and we are confused why such a poor review would be left. There is no unique “position” our company holds regarding our internal and manufacturer’s warranties. Should you have any questions regarding Honeywell’s 5 year parts warranty outlined in your manual, they’d be more than happy to share the details and I assure you will state that it must be maintained annually or “as needed” by a qualified HVAC specialist. Their number is 877-841-2840. Thank you for the opportunity and I apologize that WCA, Honeywell and our principles were not properly represented. HOWEVER... It was the unit that was defective and not Williams' service or care. Williams Comfort Air has been dogged in following up and diagnosing the problem. They have been nothing but apologetic for the problem and always courteous, on-time, and helpful whenever they visited my home. Their service has been attentive and respectful.They have resolved the problem with the heat pump and I am completely satisfied with their performance and professionallism. Every service person who has come into my home has been attentive helpful, friendly and professional. In this world of fly-by-night "furnace men," Williams Comfort Air deserves to stand above the rest. I never felt pressured to buy this new system, and when I made the decision, they were helpfull in making sure I spent the least amount of money to get the best system that I could afford.
Description of Work: I have used Williams Comfort Air ever since I purchased my home 3 years ago. I was extremely lucky in choosing them to do work for me. I would heartily recommend them to anyone. In November of 2011, they replaced my 16-year-old furnace and A/C with a new airhandler and heat pump. Unfortunately, the heat pump from a major manufacturer was defective from the factory. It took 4 or 5 visits to determine the problem and the eventual replacement on the heat pump. Obviously not their fault, and it was an elusive symptom they had to work against.

Brian came to our house to perform a tune up on our furnace and was really friendly and helpful right from the start. He did an excellent job and made our 22 year old furnace look like new. He was very thorough and spent extra time pulling out and cleaning parts for us and he even took a look at a couple of other things in the house that I had concerns about. I had no problem applying my Angies List coupon and Brian really did go above and beyond especially considering the low price we paid. The service man made arrangements for a salesman to stop by that evening and they got a crew together for a new furnace installation the next day (Saturday before the Superbowl). The crew arrived on time, well equipped, and very professional. The installation is superior to any I have seen. They do everything properly, with no shortcuts. Everone from Williams Comfort Air seems to be extremely well trained, courteous, and treat their customers like their customers want to be treated. I didn't think this kind of service existed anymore.
Description of Work: They fixed my furnace that was not fixed correctly by another company twice. Late Friday (02/04/2012) they inspect my mothers furnace and found a cracked heat exchanger. It was either replace it or buy a new furnace. The old furnace was eleven years old and my elderly mother needed heat. So we bought a new furnace.

The salesman was able to follow up on questions that he had. The duct cleaning was a nice thing because it was part of the package.

They would not help with my services.
Description of Work: My rental property in Indiana needs water heater service. They will only service homes when the owner is present. I'm not located in Indiana being this is a rental property, the tenant would be home. They refused service. This is a very unprofessional decision on their part. Before realizing they would not service my rental property they could/would not provide any kind of pricing estimate.

Our policy to have the homeowner present for repairs is to protect you, the homeowner, and us, the service company from any liability to the property. However, when the homeowner lives out of state and calls in for service we can make an exception. We obviously did not. Initially I thought it went well....however no one ever offered to stop by after the installation to check that everything was working but that isn't the worst of it.......the installers poured some caustic solvent into a floor drain. I believe they thought it was a sanitary sewer drain in the basement however it ran to my basement sump eventually corroding my sump pump and back up so that they both failed. Since that corroding process took sometime we did not notice it until it was almost too late. Luckily we found the problem before we had a flooded basement the night before leaving for the Christmas Holidays. I contacted Williams after returning from vacation and they plain refused to even investigate saying that there was no reason for the solvent as part of their installation process. I have retained the old sump pump and you don't have to be a chemical expert to recognize the toxic sludge all over it. Williams claimed that they "quizzed" the installers about any dumping and that the installers denied any such doing.....surprise, surprise. We don't ofter go into that part of the basement other than to change the filter plus the sump has to be sealed in order for the radon mitigation system that was installed with the house. Base on this experience I can't allow Williams back in my house because I don't trust them. I wished now that I had chosen one of the other suppliers that I received bids on. However, I relied upon the good reviews from Angies List as well as the good price.

Thank you for allowing our sales manager to your home to look at your sump pumps and sump pit. As you know, he ran a camera through your sump pit and did not find any caustic solvent. Our installation department does not carry any caustic solvents on their trucks nor is it needed in the installation of new equipment. To ensure your satisfaction with our company, our sales manager has offered to look into a replacement sump pump for you at minimal or no charge. He will be getting back to you shortly on this matter. I apologize we did not return to your home after the installation of your new equipment. Once our installation team installs the new system, they cycle it many times to make sure everything is running correctly. After doing this, it is not necessary to return to the home unless there is an unforeseen issue. We will, however, return in the Spring to do a maintenance check on your system. Based on rating & reports on Angie's List, I called Williams Comfort Air of Carmel, to do a routine cleaning & check of my older gas furnace. Mike Flannagan came out the very next day. He was very friendly, professional & gave me a lot of information, including about my return air duct, filter and the burning of candles and how that affects the filter.He completely cleaned the furnace,finding a faulty H.S.I., which was the cause of my furnace not heating up as it should on the really cold days. He explained that it would heat up to a certain point, then shut down. He replaced the H.S.I. We discussed Williams Comfort Air's Service Agreement, which I agreed to due to the fact that it would include a discount on the current repairs & service, plus future parts, repairs, etc.,and 1 furnace & 1 cooling tune-up in the next year. He also recommended duct cleaning as that had not been done in several years & I was noticing dust coating everything in the house, despite daily dusting. He spoke with someone at the office in charge of the duct cleaning & scheduled an appointment for the very next day & got me a discounted price. The next day, Chris Cook and Eric (I"m sorry, I think this was his name - it wasn't on the Service Invoice) came to do the work. They were both very nice, knowledgeable & friendly. They explained what they were going to do & then proceeded to do a very thorough job. My house is small, but what they got out of the vents was terrible. ( They showed me after they were done) I'd be willing to bet that's what has had me so sick this winter! They took their time, were patient with my overfriendly dog, and explained that I might get a little more dirt blown out, so to wait to change the filter for a couple of days. They also added a sanitizer & deodorizer. I am thrilled with the results - I can already tell a drastic difference in just a very visual way - the layer of heavy dust that was on my furniture every day is no longer there. I can dust & not have to do it daily now! So, I am sure the quality of the air I am breathing now is much healthier.
Description of Work: Gas furnace clean & check, repair/replacement of faulty H.S.I., whole house duct cleaning, including sanitizer & deodorizer, plus 1 year Maintenance Agreement.

Had a no heat situation. Called about 10am. Got a call back that service man was on his way about 11:30. "Todd" arrived at 12:00. Very good response, especially considering this was on a Sunday. I thought and he confirmed a problem with the blower motor. He was complete in making sure it was the motor (capacitor was also out which he tried just changing it out first). He had all parts with him and had everything replaced out, checked out, working and cleaned up in an hour. Overall a very good experience. I did some quick searching at parts prices online. It I had tried to do the service myself I think that parts alone might have cost me near $500. So I thought the price was fair. (Maybe not excellent, but certainly fair. Of course no one likes getting a $950 service call fee. They did take the online coupon to waive the service call fee which helped some.)
Description of Work: Diagnoised a problem with no heat from furnace. Replaced bad motor start capacitor and failing motor (Both of which I thought was failing or had failed before I called them, so no over sellling).

They do an excellent job. The technician is always very professional, respectful of our property and always on time. The company always calls the day before to confirm the appointment and calls when they are on the way. They do cost a little bit more, but I am willing to pay for a reputable company that I trust.
