OK. I don't believe these units need to be inspected every year, though they should be cleaned on a regular basis.I usually clean the units myself. Getting lazy, and thought maybe a real inspection might be good after several years. Didn't expect more than maintenance $49, but the tech found a bad switch. Cleaned and inspected one unit. Replaced switch. There was a discount on the part if you joined the maintenance program. As part prices are usually doubled in this industry, the discount was small, but made sense non-the-less (at least at the moment when I ran the #'s in my head). Just once I'd like an HVAC outfit to charge me cost plus 20% for a part, since they charge for showing up and $$$ for labor. Think of this as my general rant, and not necessarily a rant against this particular Co. p.s. I'm always suspicious when a problem is found that wasn't obvious. This has happened the last 2 times over several years when I've had HVAC Co's out to do maintenance on a special. No problem until the tech comes out. Problem found. Big bucks.YEMV. I hope so.

They called and came about 8:45 am. They said they would be there between 8 and 10 am. The guys were very courteous and put down cloths to protect flooring and carpet. They told me what was going on and were very professional about everything. They told me about how long it would take but ended up finishing in about 6 hours so it took less time. They cleaned up after themselves, showed me how to work unit, left booklets with me and all warranties. Good experience overall.
Description of Work: Our furnace started having problems the week before with the pilot not staying lit. For a week we had no heat but Williams came out to give an estimate on furnace and ac on Tuesday the 9th of October. As our unit was 23 yrs. old we decided to have everything replaced. They also threw in a number of extras for free including moving some gas piping. They came out on Friday the 12th and did all the work. They were very professional. There were three men who came two working in the basement and one outside.

Do investigate the possible cause of your A/C or heating problem before you call any repair company. Don't hire Williams Comfort Air.
Description of Work: This company first sent a sales rep to sell a new A/C system. I explained that I didn't have the budget for it, then sent a technician. He found a lot of problems with my A/C and Heating system. I admit there were minor issues, but his list of items to repair was unbelievable. I had done my homework, and knew how much certain parts cost, and the markup was crazy. He made a list of everything that needed to be repaired, and had me sign a "waiver" for the items I didn't want repaired. He also wanted to perform an entire overhaul on my heating system, and I respectfully declined. Interestingly, this fall when I needed to turn on the gas furnace, my pilot light kept going out. I've never had a problem with this in the past, but it went out only after a few hours after being re-lit. Again, I did my homework, and all I needed to do was adjust the position of the gas tube leading to the pilot. I'm probably overly suspicious, but I believe the technician created an issue for which his company would need to be called upon again.

We were asked to look at your 1992 air conditioning unit as the fan was not running. After our salesmen arrived at your home to discuss replacement options, he called for a technician to diagnose the system for repairs. Our technician replaced a capacitor and contactor as well as performed a complete cleaning of the air conditioning unit, the furnace was not touched. We have a standard pricing guide that is used in every home, charging by the job not by the hour. We think it is great you are proactive with regards to your home repairs. However, it is very important to have a licensed HVAC contractor diagnose and repair your system. We hope to once again earn your trust when we visit for your heating tune-up this winter. Everything went well and the Deal was a good discount for the work that was done and it was normally $110. I had scheduled the appointment already and then I saw the Big Deal on line. I asked for a specific person to install and two other men came. I told them Bryce was suppose to install. Then they gave me the paperwork to sign and the amount was different than what was quoted to me. I refused to sign stating we had agreed on a price. The sales rep was called and he finally agreed to change the quote back to what we agreed. He set up Bryce to install the next day. The installation went fine. I was disappointed in the sales rep. I expected honesty.

The serviceman arrived within the window of time given. The serviceman was very courteous and professional. He got straight to work on the furnace unit. The inspection, cleaning, and tune-up was done in a timely manner. The condition of my furnace unit and any recommendations were given in a clear and documented fashion with no pressure to buy any extras and/or maintenance plan. It was an overall pleasant experience.

This company did an outstanding job. They had great attention to detail and kept time commitments. This job was quite extensive and took over a week. This included digging up parts of our property and street to link piping. They were very conscientious of our property and restored it to its original condition. We recommend this company to others.

We were selling our house and the buyers requested an HVAC system check up as we had no service history list for our unit. I contacted Williams Comfort Air based on their rating here on Angie's List plus they offered a coupon here for a cooling or heating check up for $49. Setting up the appointment was simple. Chris called 10 minutes before he arrived to give notice when he was on the way. He was very thorough and professional. He went over what he did and found and left everything as it was before he arrived. I will definitely call them for my needs at our new place!

I ended up purchasing their maintenance plan. I called them this morning and they had someone out to my home by 12:30pm. I really liked how rapid they were. They were also nice people. They gave my furnace and air conditioner a good examination. I was completely pleased with the outcome.

Have used Williams comfort air over the years for tune ups of the AC and furnace. I knew it was about time to replace the systems, and at no time during the tune-ups was there ever a hard push to 'buy it now.' I was given an honest assessment that they systems were still working, but yes, indeed, they are old. Well finally this year, the AC went out. I had them out on June 18th. At that time, two parts needed replaced and that service visit was ~$700. But again, no hard sell to get a new system. The service tech, Joe, did state that the motor to the AC unit was old, and it could go next. We talked about potential options down the line--it the motor went, it would be $800 - 1000. If you replaced the AC/furnace (depending on what models and efficiency I went for) anywhere from $6500 - 10,000. Joe also did a nice job of explaining how an AC unit works in looking at options. He also didn't mind my cat rubbing his leg to say 'HI.' Unfortunately, 17 days (July 5th) later the AC went out again--this time the compressor (Joe was able to be the tech that came out again on the 6th). At this point, it was time to look into a new AC unit. Crazy timing--100 degree weather and I was supposed to leave on vacation on the 7th. SO--we were able to have the sales associate, Jay, come out first thing Saturday morning. Fortunately, July brought a sale at Williams so the cost of replacing the AC/furnace was workable. Since I was leaving on my trip, they were fine with my house sitter being available for the install on Monday the 9th. (by the way--the cats had one room with a window AC unit, and a cool basement) My friend said the install went smoothly and they showed her the operations of the systems. Williams provided both myself AND my friend with a goodie bag (thermal glasses, jar opener, letter opener). My friend thought that was cool, and eventually my house too! Would highly recommend Williams comfort air for service/install/tune-ups

So this is clear: Ask for Allen. He just finished here and is incredible. Puts up with stupid questions (I'm curious about everything), provides some excellent advice about things he notices, what to watch for before next year, ... you name it, this guy is a genius. When will they make it to you? They'll give you the best projection they can make, and provide a 30 minute notice. That said: Pay attention! Here's how you feel like you get a free, "new" air conditioner or furnace from Williams Comfort Air: Do you see all of the various 4x6 cards you get in the mail from service companies - offering to check the following season's equipment for a price? The next time you buy a furnace or A/C system from Williams Comfort Air, you'll get a reminder card in the mail - it'll explicitly state it's $0 "You've already paid for it." It's easy to not jump on it, but do it. There are no tricks, games, gimmicks or shenanigans about this. Just call them and schedule an appointment. What's funny is the checks, cleans, and services extend the life of the equipment - a lot. Now why would they offer a free service which makes it longer before you have to buy equipment from them? It's called service & loyalty. They know their loyalty to their clients with good service encourages loyalty from us. When they come in and make a seasonal checkup of the system(s), you will swear it's new equipment - seriously - it's that clean & ready to go. It happened with the furnace in February and again today with A/C. If I didn't see them do the services, I'd think they sneaked a new one out of the truck. If something doesn't need to be done (now), they'll tell you what you need to put on a list which they will pay extra attention to. (Except Allen & WCA don't need the word "extra"; to them, it's just "pay attention" because "extra" is their norm. If you don't have a system they've installed, you can get started by using their card from the mail, or head to their web site: williamscomfortair.com and begin to take advantage of their services. Trust me: you won't have to go to anyone else. Back on point. I had the furnace checked in February - before Winter actually hit - remember the "Super Bowl Heat Wave"? I almost waited too long (in February). Whilst everyone else was waiting on a list of emergencies, trying to decide if they need their chimney cleaned so they can stay warm around it - roasting marshmallows & hot dogs, we were snug as a bug in a rug. I should have checked the A/C before now - before the rush. But think about it - someone comes out a bit before the heat/AC season starts - you'll be golden when everyone else is calling & waiting in line. As I write this, it's day #1000 of the 2012 drought, day #500 consecutive days above 90F. They managed to get me squeezed in (re: see services above) and we know we're good to go until next Spring and avoid the Summer Rush. I'm not sure how many superlatives I can add before it sounds hokey. But it's all true.
Description of Work: Seasonal preventative maintenance on A/C by Allen. Ask for Allen. Remember: ask for Allen What was previously cold became cool and we needed to have it checked as part of PM.

The installation was fine. However, when my mother-in-law requested the free tickets and the rebate, she was informed that she was required to drive from Brownsburg to Carmel to pick up these items (a 45 - 60 minute drive). She was further informed that these items would not be mailed because of the risk that they could be lost in the mail. My mother-in-law is 82 years old; rendering this requirement a hardship. And, in any event, their policy regarding mailing such items seems quite ridiculous and a transparent attempt to get out of honoring part (albeit minor) of the bargain.
Description of Work: This firm installed a furnace and a/c unit in my mother-in-law's home in Brownsburg, IN. Along with the installation was an offer for free tickets to an amusement park and a $50.00 rebate.

From the quote to the installation, everything went smoothly. The salesman worked around a family medical situation we were in the midst of to get us the quote, sign the paperwork, and schedule the installation. The installers were punctual and professional, and left the area around the heat pump and furnace clean and neat. They experienced a small problem with the purification system at installation but Williams sent someone out within the week and it was quickly resolved. After installation, the salesman also completed the paperwork for the $200 Duke Energy rebate. The new Trane heat pump is quiet and is working wonderfully.
Description of Work: New Trane HVAC system. We also purchased a humidifier and air purification system.

Salesman Jim Melangton was terrific and very competitive. Everything was installed exactly as requested in a single day. We've been running the a/c for a full month in awful heat and high humidity with no problems. Very impressed and very pleased with the equipment and the quality of the work. I highly recommend Williams and am referring a friend to them today.

Our air conditioner quit working on the hottest day of the year. We were originally told that the schedule was full, and they could not get out to our house until the next day. However, they called us back later and said that they did have time and they would send a technician out that day. Todd arrived in the afternoon and found the problem right away. He checked everything to be sure it was in good working order, and he explained what was wrong. We are very grateful for the fast service!
