+ -1 moreCalled Monday to set an appointment for an estimate. Got an estimate on Tuesday. Our old furnace was working, but tempermental (would stop working occasionally and then start working again on its own). Had new furnace installed on Thursday. Installers placed runners on the floor to protect my floors from dirt and damage. They were very pleasant and did a good job cleaning up after the job was complete. Both the estimator and the installers arrived when they said they would and they finished the installation about 1/2 hour earlier than estimated.
Description of Work: Replaced gas furnace.

They do a great job telling us what to do, and keep a record right on the furnace to remind us when parts are replaced, service reminders for air filters, etc.

+ -1 moreHad the first technician done his job right and responded when I called, I would not have had to have them come back again and pay for a second service call. After my initial contact with the second company's salesman I realized I need much more information to make a decision and that Williams was not working hard enough for the business.
Description of Work: They had been servicing my HVAC system for many years. The system would not cool on the very hot days just before July 4th. The first technician out said I was low on refrigerant and added some. I questioned if he thought there was a leak but he said no, that this should fix me up for the summer. Later that day I called the technician and told him I did not think the system was pulling down fast enough. He said he would stop over later that day but did not and never called. Three days later it was very hot again and the system would not cool. Another technician came out. He quickly discovered that the compressor had failed spraying fluid around in the housing. He recommended a completely new system and proceeded to charge me another $150. Their salesman responded quickly with a quote on the phone. However I decided to shop the job and found another company (highly rated in Angie's) that did the job slightly cheaper.

Description of Work: We've had them since they took over another company. They service our units twice a year. In January they serviced our heat pump which had stopped running.

+ -1 moreMost of their workers do not know what they are doing. One worker did not know what the other was doing. They did replace it and put the copper in. They refused to pay for it. It had to go against my home insurance, which was 3 or 4 thousand dollars. They would not return my calls. The boxes for the thermostat were not working properly. They waited until the furnace went out. It went out 3 or 4 times for various reasons and it is a brand new furnace. On the second floor it went out and it was the day the new man had come and told me that my box was out again. Once something happened it was like they didn't even know you anymore.
Description of Work: They put in the heating and air conditioning system. They put in plastic tubing instead of copper. After a period of time it burst. It went all over and flooded.

INSTALLATION PROBLEM OCCURRED WITH NEW DUCTWORK BEING SHOVED IN AGAINST PRESSURE TANK HOSE, CAUSING LOUD VIBRATIONS TO OCCUR. PLUMBER IS BEING CALLED IN TO CORRECT PROBLEM. I WAS NEVER NOTIFIED OF WHEN INSTALLATION WOULD COMMENCE, AND FINALLY CALLED SALESPERSON A COUPLE WEEKS AFTER INITIAL SALE TO DETERMINE INSTALLATION DATE. FURNACE IS INSTALLED AND COLD WEATHER ARRIVES ON 10/20, BUT FURNACE DOESN'T WORK. SHELBY AIR IS CALLED, AND SENDS OUT A TECHNICIAN TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM. PROBLEM IS DUE TO SHELBY AIR NOT TURNING ON GAS. I CALL THE OWNER OF THE COMPANY WHEN I RECEIVE A BILL FOR $78 FOR THIS SERVICE. HE TELLS ME THIS IS A MISTAKE AND ASSURES ME HE WILL TAKE CARE OF THE BILL. A SECOND BILL ARRIVES ON 11/2 FOR THE $78. I VISIT THE OWNER TO COMPLAIN IN PERSON AND AM TOLD IN NO UNCERTAIN TERMS THAT THIS IS A MISTAKE. NO APOLOGIES, EVEN THOUGH I WAS TOLD THIS WAS TAKEN CARE OF TWO WEEKS AGO.
Description of Work: SHELBY AIR FIRST REMOVED OLD FURNACE FROM BASEMENT AND OLD AIR CONDITIONER WAS REMOVED FROM CONCRETE SLAB. THIS WAS FOLLOWED BY INSTALLATION OF NEW AIR CONDITIONER AND NEW FURNACE.

ANOTHER COMPANY, ALSO RANKED HIGHLY ON ''THE LIST,'' QUOTED US DOUBLE WHAT WILLIAMS CHARGED (THEIR SALESPERSON WAS HIGH PRESSURE AND TOLD US WE HAD TO REPLACE THE OUTSIDE UNIT AND THE BLOWER INSIDE, AS WELL AS THE LINE SET IN THE WALLS, WHICH WAS NOT TRUE!). WE OWN AN ESTRIDGE BUILT HOME, AND WILLIAMS INSTALLED THE ORIGINAL SYSTEM. WHEN THEY CAME OUT THEY KNEW WHERE EVERYTHING WAS. THEY KEPT THEIR APPOINTMENTS AND PHONED BEFORE THEY CAME. I WILL DEFINITELY USE THIS COMPANY AGAIN.
Description of Work: A SERVICE TECHNICIAN CAME OUT TO DETERMINE WHY OUR DUAL SYSTEM HEAT PUMP WAS NOT COOLING PROPERLY. AFTER A CHECK OF THE INSIDE AND OUTSIDE COMPONENTS, HE DETERMINED WE HAD LOST ALL OF THE COOLANT. HE THEN PERFORMED A LEAK CHECK, AT OUR REQUEST, TO FIGURE OUT WHERE THE LEAK WAS, WHICH HE DID BY PROCESS OF ELIMINATION. OUR UNIT WAS AN OLDER ONE, AND THE REPAIR COULD HAVE COST MORE THAN HALF OF A REPLACEMENT. AFTER WE DID SOME CHECKING AND GOT A SECOND OPINION, A SALESMAN FROM WILLIAMS CAME OUT AND WAS JUST AS NICE AND LOW PRESSURE AS THE TECHNICIAN. THE NEXT BUSINESS DAY, A CONSTRUCTION TEAM ARRIVED TO REPLACE OUR OUTSIDE COMPONENT. ALL OF THE WORKERS WERE PATIENT, EXPLAINED THINGS WELL, AND CLEANED UP AFTER THEIR WORK. THE WORKERS EVEN WORE BOOTIES INSIDE THE HOUSE.

THEY ALSO RECOMMENDED SPECIFIC UPGRADE OPTIONS FOR US THAT THE OTHER COMPANY TOLD US WE COULDN'T DO. FINALLY, THEY NOT ONLY MADE THE PROPER RECOMMENDATIONS, BUT THEY CAME IN AND METICULOUSLY INSTALLED THE NEW EQUIPMENT WHICH ALSO INVOLVED RE-DOING SOME OF THE POOR DUCT WORK ABOVE OUR OLD FURNACE. WE WERE VERY PLEASED WITH THEIR PRICE, THEIR WORK AND THEIR PROFESSIONALISM AND WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY TO OTHERS.
