+ -1 moreJeremy arrived on Sunday, listened and determined nothing was wrong with furnace, except that it is old; the problem was a plumbing issue. He called Metzler plumbing, they are merging and arranged for a plumber to see us late that afternoon.
Description of Work: Furnace was leaking water on Sunday. We thought it was the furnace, but the water softener had been installed incorrectly and was discharging water back through the furnace.

+ -1 moreI don't have a service contract with them. There have a been a couple of times where I feel that they didn't adjust things quite properly which I believe have led to additional problems. The office does a better job than the servicemen that come out to do the work.
Description of Work: They came out to service my heater for me most recently. I have used them for about six or seven years now, since they installed the new systems for me at that time.

Also, the installers, Erick and Dave did a great job installing everything and answering all our questions. They took extra care not to track any snow into the house. Of course, Danny and Matt did the duct cleaning and they were just as great. The overall experience could not have gone better.
Description of Work: Purchased a new Trane XL16 Heat Pump and Air Handler system. Also purchased a Media Filter and electronic Humidifier system. In addition to the installation we also had our ducts cleaned in the process.

+ -1 moreWe could not be happier with their service. When we had questions they sent a service tech over who stepped us through the work to be done. They stand behind their work. We've been with them for 7 years. Have had them install a whole house humidifier previously also.

+ -1 moreThe repairman was scheduled to come out last week, mid-week. He called around 5 PM to say he was running late and could not be out till after 6. I asked if he would like to reschedule, and he said yes, and he suggested first thing Saturday morning. My understanding was that he would talk with his office and have them call to reschedule. We have not yet heard from the company. So far, we've paid about $94 to have someone take out an air filter. We are willing to pay for a maintenance program and a new thermostat, but I do not know if this company is going to follow through. I will have to call them again this week. If they don't come out this week, I'll consider the $94 an expensive lesson and call a different company. I can only grade this company with the performance so far, which isn't good. But I think it's possible everything will work out. Everyone has off days/errors/bad jobs, etc. So maybe my experience with this company is an aberration.
Description of Work: The heat in our house (which we had just moved into) was not working. The furnace kicked on, but warm air did not come out of the vents and the house was cold. A repairman came to our house and charged a service fee of just over $94. He removed our air filter and told us our furnace needs to be cleaned and needs a new air filter. I also asked to have a new thermostat installed and agreed to a service plan for routine maintenance. The repairman said he would have to order the thermostat and that the office would call for an appointment when the part came in. He said that when he came back to install the thermostat, he would clean the furnace and put in a new air filter, which I would have to buy myself in the meantime. The only work performed was the removal of a clogged air filter. I forgot to mention that this company says on its listing to "ask about an Angie's List discount." I asked the repairman if they offered an Angie's List discount. He was a bit curt with his, "No, ma'am."

They always cover their shoes before coming in. They honored a coupon that I had from the Angie's List book.
Description of Work: My air conditioner was spewing water all over the laundry room. They said the AC drainage was clogged up, so they unclogged the problem.

+ -1 moreMark arrived on-time and satisfactorily performed the inspection and cleaning. He offered a half price cleaning if I purchased a one year maintenance contract which I accepted. Since the heating and cooling system is regularly serviced, the savings amounted to more than $100. Williams Comfort Air replaced my entire system plus all duct work several years ago and I highly recommend them.

+ -1 moreThe job was excellent from start to finish. The salesperson, Tom Doll, was honest and credible. He corrected bad information given to me by other contractors. When we discussed a quite different installation with zoning (heat and A/C) he was totally open to the concept, even though it meant a lower total sales bill to me. He brought out a technical expert (Joe) who was a real professional, who advised me on the pros and cons with my particular situation. At this point the new specifications were a go, Williams re-bid the job and got my business. Every time I needed Tom's input he made a personal trip to my residence to make sure I was taken care of, even after I paid his company. The installation of the equipment was a dream and took even less time than estimated. We had A/C the first evening after the job started. The crew (in particular Bill and Mike) were exceptional individuals in terms of their sensitivity to the needs of me and my family and the quality of their work.
Description of Work: Replace 2 existing, 18 year old AC and heating systems with a zone cooling and A/C system for the entire house. Install new humidifier (whole house) and air filtration system. Redesign of home ducting and correcting several design deficiencies from the original installation.

+ -1 moreI was so pleased that the problem was diagnosed and repaired quickly. Many AC companies do not have emergency call numbers, but Williams does and the service people are very professional.
Description of Work: On a Friday evening we discovered our air conditioning was not working. We called the Williams after hours emergency number. A repair man called us back and was on the job within an hour or so. A fuse needed to be replaced at the outside box and he did that and explained everything he found and did. The Williams service people always explain what they are doing and the price was reasonable.

+ -1 moreThey came out back out and checked out the pump and system. Our furnace bill for the month prior was $795.00, little high. They came out on 03/23 and stated the unit needed a compasiter. On 03/28 replaced the compasiter. On 4/02 they came back out and examined the AC and found a leak in the heat pump, low on coolant. Suggested we do a leak detection test. He 1st wanted to add 5 lbs of coolant. I asked why he wanted to refill a leaky unit, stated that's what he had to do. He then put the dye in the system. After the test, it worked only 1 day. After the freon was added, we lost use of the AC again. After this work was all done I called the builder who came out and rechecked the unit, he stated shut it off not working at all, still. Coolant had leaked out. All 5lbs. On 04/07 a man came out from an environmental service, On 04/10 they did the leak test, found the leak, 04/13 they replaced and repaired the leak. All total, we spent $5000 on everything from new parts to gas bill to furnace.
Description of Work: They came out in Feb. '07 and put in a new furnace. They did a good job. Now at the time the heat pump was not working at all. They never checked to make sure it was working.

+ -1 moreCompressor had a 10 year warranty, but failed after 4 years. Called Williams, they checked our system and said the compressor was shot and needed replaced. Well, needless to say...not at all happy the compressor failed after only 4 years. They would not honor this fact, and still wanted to charge us approximately $900 to install a new one. Trane was contacted, and they just blew us off. So, long story short...we paid the $900 bucks to get it fixed. We really do not feel we should have had to pay anything to replace the compressor! Williams would not stand behind Trane, and Trane would not stand behind their systems. Would not ever buy a Trane again, and not happy Williams would not work with us on the issue...especially after spending $5000 with them on both furnace and A/C system 4 years ago.
Description of Work: Replaced A/C compressor on Trane A/C unit purchased and installed by them 4 years ago.
