Todd came to our home to review our request to do a shower remodel. Todd was very personable and gave lots of ideas and said this project should be easy (10 day job) and no more than $2K. THAT WAS NOT THE CASE AT ALL! Todd has only been to the project once because we asked him to come review the project and during that visit it was agreed that the work done was HORRIBLE. The floor was uneven, the tile was not evenly spaced and we did not get a shelf as we asked for. So Todd agreed that the whole project needed to be started over. Now new guys came to demo and retile the shower. Once the project was "finished" we were still not pleased. Todd recommended a sliding shower door and the door entry way was so small, your shoulders cannot fit through it. The floor is uneven so there are puddles of sitting water. The shower leaks through the door because nothing is level and the shower faucet was never replaced do to the wrong size. Also, they put holes through walls and need paint touchup all around the shower form the demo. Todd refused to come and fix/complete the project. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL and rude throughout the whole project.

I hired Todd Wentico to renovate my basement based on a recommendation, and the reasonable quote. He was supposed to replace my drop ceiling with a drywall ceiling and recessed lights. He sent 2 men to do the job who had absolutely no experience. They did not measure or use a level. The lights were not hung in straight rows because the man hanging them literally did not know how to measure. He told me that they weren't drywallers, that he was a janitor 2 months prior, and had only a 5th grade education. The bulkheads they built were too low, and not level. In the first picture, you can see where a piece of lumber didn't meet the bottom part of the bulkhead, so they just shoved a chunk of drywall underneath it. They did not make any effort to keep anything clean, or to keep the dust out of my house. They even cut lumber and drywall INSIDE MY HOUSE, ON THE CARPET. We asked Todd Wentico, the owner, at several different points to halt the work and fix all of the mistakes that were being made, but they just continued to move forward with the shoddy work still intact. We also asked him numerous times to please send his experienced crew to do the job. He sent an experienced man one day only (who confirmed all of the mistakes/shoddy work), and refused to keep him on the job full-time, or to take the other inexperienced workers off the job, so my husband was forced to fire him. When he started the job, he required a $2500 "materials deposit". He specifically said it was for materials, but after interviewing many other contractors to redo the job, we discovered we only had about $500 in materials, so we were initially ripped off to the tune of $2000, plus we had to purchase more materials to finish the job. All of the bulkheads had to be demolished and rebuilt correctly and with the correct size lumber, and we had to purchase more drywall, so we really lost much more than $2000 on materials. Then we had to pay thousands more in labor to have the job completed correctly by a competent carpenter and drywaller. Todd's men did not cover my carpet, but he said he would have it professionally cleaned. Of course he has not done that, so I have to pay for the carpet cleaning also. BEWARE.

I need some assistance and I?m not sure where to turn. I?m being threatened that a  mechanical lien
will be placed on my house if an invoice is not paid by 6/10/16.   In 2015 I met with several contractors to install new hardwood flooring in tworooms, refinish all the existing hardwood to match, and install a new kitchenisland.  I decided to hire Todd Wentico
of Wentico  & Co, Indianapolis, IN to complete the job.  Wentico & Co is a licensed firm, is on Angie?s List, and referred by Artisan Stone, the granite supplier we contacted.  There was no contract signed by me just an estimate of the service was received.  The job was scheduled to be completed between March 31, 2016 and April 10, 2016.  During this time we would be out of the country so they would have full access to the house with no interruptions. We paid $2500 for the down payment to cover the cost of the new wood flooring.  The amount for the cabinetry and granite was paid directly to the businesses.  Both have been paid in full.  I gave Todd a key to the house and our garage code to enter daily and expected the house to be locked up and taken care of during the remodeling project.
On April 10th when we arrived back in the country the job was not 100% complete ? the kitchen island was not installed, the
flooring only had one coat of stain on it and the back door was found unlocked.  Most importantly though was the fact that the
quality of the sanding and stain application was very bad.  When the head employee of the team that applied the stain arrived on the morning of April 11th he saw all of the issues including the following
·
Large ?water? spots throughout the stained floor
·
Areas where the sanding was not done correctly and made marks in the wood
·
Areas where the sanding was not done and caused the stain to not penetrate
·
Spilled stain on the floor so the area was darkened in a large area
·
Spilled stain on the carpet
·
Boot tracking marks in the stain
·
Stained footprint s on the carpet to the basement.
·
Irregularities in stain color/application throughout
He immediately called Todd Wentico to explain the issues.  When the lead contractor, Claude, arrived he was disgusted with the job and said ?this is the worse job he has ever seen? and ?this is an embarrassment. ?  He also called Todd Wentico and explained all of the issues.  The resulting action to fix the issues was to start all over and re-sand the entire house and start
from the beginning.  I explained to Todd that my family and dog will need to stay in the house and go through our daily
schedules.  I was ensured that it would be no problem and that they would work around us.  Todd also said her would get this job done right even if compensation was required.  Claude was present during conversation. Claude was assigned to the job to make sure everything was completed to our satisfaction.
Below was the new schedule that took place
April 11th ? Todd and other employees decided to
start the project over ? start sanding floors
April 12th ? completed final stage of sanding
April 13th ? 1st coat of stain on
floors (noticed water spots in kitchen, in front of stairway, down hall to
garage door.)  Sent pictures  and asked for clarification of issue and how
it will be fixed.
April 13th (eve) ? found out from neighbors who
were checking on the house while we were gone that the lights were left on
every night, the sanding equipment was left on one night and unplugged by a
neighbor, and the door was unlocked and ajar two different evenings.
April 13th
(eve) ? Asked Todd to meet me to discuss issues on 4/14 at 8AM was told
that he could not meet due to a meeting.
Asked Todd to meet me on 4/14 at 5PM and was told he was in a meeting
again.
April  14th
? Claud tried to ?fix? areas of water stains by sink by taping off each board ,
re-sanding, and re-staining area.  The
spots in front of the stairway and hall were not touched.
April 14th (eve) ? was not happy with the fix of
the floor and spoke with Claude.  took
pictures of the repaired job and hoped that the stain would ?lighten up?  Picture included ?Figure 1
April 15th ? floors completed per Wentico &

April 19th ? communication to Todd asking when island would

June 5th ? text communication back and forth from
Todd and I. (Figure 4)

I have spoken with an attorney, realtor, and a loan officer to give me advice.  They all agree that there are contractors out there that do terrible work and rip off people. And there is not much I can do.  They can put a lien on your house and ruin your credit score whenever they want.  I really wish there was something to do since it not fair.   I believe Todd knows he sent the wrong crew to do a job, they did it unsatisfactory and had to redo the job and he lost a lot of money on the project that he is now trying to recover.  I would never refer him to anyone and I hope he never has the opportunity to do this to others.  Not only did I incur additional costs of loss of work, new lock charges, and other miscellaneous expenses to accommodate the refinishing project I will have to incur thousands of more dollars to get my floors done correctly.
Is there anything else I can do?

Thank you

They did an excellent job of removing years of dirt, grime, and damage. They gave us good instructions on how to maintain the newly refinished floors. Price was reasonable, too - hundreds of dollars less than a more well-known flooring company who we also contacted.

They do not have an "alarmist" view of mold, and very often recommend simple, inexpensive treatment. Their carpet cleaning work has been fine, and they are always on time. They've always managed to work us in, even when they've had a busy schedule or had to work late.

They did an excellent job, and they didn't make a big mess or anything, and we were pleased with the results. The interaction with them was fine, they were very pleasant. It looks much better than it did, and I would say that the results were very good.

Todd Wentico, owner of the company, met with us and gave us a detailed estimate.  We were in the process of getting a new roof and Todd recommended that we wait until that was completed before starting the deck work.  We called Wentico when we were ready to begin the work.  They were very prompt and dependable.  The deck post and railing system were installed and look awesome.

Weather is naturally a detriment to deck work and the process was delayed numerous times.  Finally the rain cleared and Wentico steam cleaned two decks and a stain was applied.  The screened in porch required painting.

Wentico has great employees (special kudos to (a) Kirby who wound up doing the final staining and painting process and to (b) Todd for his management expertise).

We would give this company our highest rating.  Wentico knows how to hire honest, hard-working, employees.  It was a great experience.

I had a pipe burst, causing minor damage to my ground floor family room. At a time when everyone in the city had similar problems, Wentico was the only company able to bring equipment out that day in order to help me dry my carpets and walls. I'm fortunate that my damage was minimal and that all I needed was to rent equipment. Todd was able to return my call, and dropped off equipment the same day. He picked it up a few days later, measuring humidity and advising on further repairs.

They did an excellent job. They didn't leave a mess and the only bad thing was that we had to let it dry for in you can step on it to trying to get upstairs but that wasn't their problem. There was a delay on the service because their workbook has been stolen, somebody had lifted out on his car and he couldn't call us back.

out, he sanded the floor down so much that it is now a different color in that area and you can tell it is lower because of how much wood he sanded out.  We went round and round with them.  They refinished the floor again, but it still isn't right...the dull spots remain, the hairs remain, the divet and light colored area remains.  In conclusion, spend a little more for a reputable company and steer clear of this one!!

The experience was not very bearable.  They had to come back and redo the job.  The guy that they sent out the first time did a very lousy job and the guy they sent out the second time did a great job.  It is my understanding that they might have fired the guy that did it the first time.  The guy they sent out the second time was their best guy and he did a fine job.  The guy that came out the second time said that the guy that came out the first time had worked with him and in his opinion, the first guy was not ready to go out on his own; but they rectified everything.  There were some other things too.  The color samples that they showed me first when they gave me the original quote came out with different color samples, the second time and they said they couldn't get the color samples that I wanted.  The one they came out with was good and it turned out as it was quite as good.  It wasn't a good experience overall.  The first time when they did it, it wasn't right; but the second time, it was right.  I got a coupon from Angie's List, so that's why I chose them.  I would consider using them in the future, if they send the right guy.
