Since its inception by co founders William Barr and Michael Strmac in 2002, Universal Windows Direct has lived by the philosophy of CANEI - "Constant and Never Ending Improvement". I have ordered 4 windows total. Two are already installed, and my remaining two windows are still to be delivered. The problems began whenever we discovered that all four windows were not manufactured correctly; however, two were already installed before the mistake was caught. Universal and I agreed to postpone installing the remaining two windows until the "sashes" were replaced and that the sashes would need to be replaced in the installed windows as well. A service technician came out and replaced the two sashes in the installed windows, which I have no problems with as they are now. There are three problems I'm having now, the timeline of my contract, acquiring the remaining two windows with the "old" sashes in addition to the replaced "new" sashes, and the remaining balance Mike Tucker has verbally agreed to. Whenever I first signed my payment contract with Universal Windows, I chose to pay off the balance within one year with no interest. The end of that contract is coming up in a couple months and Universal has not provided me with the service they have promised. I need my remaining two windows (with the new sashes installed and the old sashes on the side) delivered to my home. Not installed, but strictly delivered. I've tried to have this arranged numerous times, but they never arrive and after a phone call with Mike Tucker on 4/20/2023, he is insisting that I am not entitled to the remaining two old sashes whenever I was already promised by Mike H that I am. In November of 2022, I've expressed my concerns to Mike Tucker with the state of the project and how I'm disappointed with everything. He agreed to fixing all window sashes, delivering my remaining two windows without installation, and has agreed that if I cut all ties with Universal by removing their warranty, then my grand total would be $2000. Since I've already paid $1000 upfront, my remaining balance would be $1000. After the phone call on 4/20/23, he has denied all financial claims. Who can I speak to that is trustworthy within to company to come to a resolution? I cannot speak to Mike Tucker because I do not trust him to be an honest person.

I ordered my windows in early June of 2021. My windows were finally built in October of 2021. I had an install date of 11/1/21. I was told that the install would take 3 days. The installer's were supposed to be at my house at 8:00 am on 11/1/21 The Universal windows company ask that you give the installers a 2 hour window in case they have traffic issues or product pickup issues. The installers showed up at 11 am in fact they showed after 11am each of the 3 days. I ordered 27 windows from universal windows direct and I was assured and guaranteed a team of professional and knowledgeable installers would install my windows. Universal sent 2 Mexican men in a old truck pulling an old horse trailer to install my 27 windows. The guys admitted that they were not employees of universal windows direct. The 2 were contracted out to do the job. I tried calling the Indianapolis office with no answer of course and no return call even though they ask you leave your phone and job#. The 2 started working and to my surprise they got all 27 windows installed. The 3rd day came 11/3/21 and about 4pm they tell me they cannot finish framing and caulking my windows on the outside of my home. I asked them when would they be back to finish the job I was told 11/6/21. I waited all day on the 6th no call no show. I took a walk around my house. I was told that they only had 4 windows left to complete but in actuality they had not completely framed or caulked any of my windows on the outside. I even found some buckling and missing caulk on the inside. I called the Indianapolis office on 11/8/21. I spoke with someone in customer service I told them about my situation they told me someone would call me from scheduling and get someone out to finish my windows. I received a call late the same day. I couldn't get to my phone a message was left that Humberto would be out some time the week of the 8th to finish the install. I have not seen Humberto since the 3rd of Nov. I called again on the 15th of Nov. I was told that I would receive a call back I have not received a call. I have read a few of these reviews today and I see the 2 Mexican men with a horse trailer are a common practice for Universal windows direct and fact that these 2 gentlemen have walked away from other peoples homes without finishing the job the universal windows direct promised they would do this is incomprehensible to me . I am appalled the Angies list & Home advisor would promote this company with there terrible an unprofessional business ethics and practices.

We ordered our windows in April. Service guy told us we had a lifetime guarantee and that is what sold us. He told us our windows would be here within 6-8 weeks. I kept calling and calling and they kept saying they weren’t in yet. Finally august 30th they come out for the install. It was 2 Mexican men with a old truck and a horse trailer. Not at all from the company. They we’re definitely contracted out to do the work. Fine, I didn’t even mind as long as it was done right. They were suppose to be here between 8-10. 10:30 comes my husband calls and they are just leaving their warehouse which is an hour and 45 minutes away. So great timing there! They show up at 11:45 finished all the inside work and said they would be back tomorrow. Guess what?? They never showed! I have an entire back yard full of crap! None of my windows are finished, we can’t mow because there is stuff everywhere! I’m highly ****** off. I try to contact the company(today is Saturday) of course nobody answers the phone! Don’t recommend this place!

PLEASE SEE ITHER SITES AS WELL FOR REVIEWS! ***I am going to start with the sales process: -June 13th, 2020; our order was placed, and we were super excited after Universal being the 5th company we heard a pitch from. We were excited and happy with all of it. We ordered a front door and 13 windows for our house in a very nice neighborhood. -We have a measurement person out on July 9th to review all the measurements. Turns out that our door and windows were ordered in the WRONG color!!! I was told that I was wrong, and I ordered tan windows when my house is gray. Un NO!!! They did a change request to modify the colors before it goes to production. The change request was then trumped by someone and tried to be set back to “clay” instead of “gray”. I said NO I am not accepting that at all. That was corrected again. (I have the paperwork to back all of this up). We thought all of this was fixed -We received an email saying that our order was in and we should see our windows and door around Aug 20th. That was WAY OFF and I am told it was because of COVID. OK; fine… We receive an email that our “Product was delivered”. That was only for the door and we had to wait for the windows. Then we get a call from the shop manager saying “Let’s install the door then we will come back out when the windows come in.” So, we scheduled that for September 25th. Again, Excited BUT NOPE!!! The Door came in with the wrong colors… So, I sent it back. Long story short… Take a discount off the door to keep the colors and paint it myself (OH this voids the warranty) or wait weeks for a new door. I took the discount and have yet to paint the door. -Got a call that the windows were in. So, we schedule the install for wrong door and windows. NOPE only 12 of the 13 windows are in. Sorry, not sure where the windows is. NO RESPONSE from anyone until I texted the local manager to ask, 2 weeks after they were here (Texted Today). Still no idea where my window is. ***Install and Product Quality (The installers were super nice guys though!): -Door Trim is wrong color (Shocker by now). Please see the pick. Does not come close to matching what I have in the house. Gaps, quarter round not even installed, and the door threshold flexes by half an inch… I can stick my fingers under my door for crying out loud! There is nothing under it to support it!!! -I had nice trim around my windows. I have a pic of my garage window that was not replaced for a comparison (Last pic I think). The use this cheap tin casing that covers it all up. It has gaps, calking to fill it in. I am SHOCKED by this. This is what Universal Windows gives their installers to work with??? -Bought 3 slider windows… Every time I open them, I feel like they are going to jump out of the track they sit in. ***Current Summary as of Oct.13, 2020; Missing a window, door is the wrong color, poor quality, trim for the door is the wrong color and shape and size. I feel the product quality is horrible and NOT worth what I paid for it. Even with a $1,500 discount I received for a wrong door that I must paint and void the “finish warranty”. Oh and even though the job isn't done, I have been charged for everything. KNOW what you are getting into using Universal Windows!!!

Huge Scam Universal Solar ....they drilled holes into my roof right through my ceiling....had tar dripping through into my home...complete hack job.... they told me I would reduce my bill to $12 a month with NVEN....I keep my temp average at 78*....I'm getting a bill from NV Energy for $147 and I'm also paying for the solar system at about $200 a month...this is not what they promised....if they had been honest with me upfront I would have never bought the system....I was told by Vito the salesman that it would take a few months to build up credits but in that time they had a payment grace period so it would all even out.....oh what a lie....if I knew the truth they would have never gotten the sale and that folks is why they lie to you...now Universal solar is telling me it takes a year to build up the credits, which is actually 1and 1/2 years....I totally got scammed and now am paying double electricity bills...this will happen to you too if you do business with them...LET THE BUYER BEWARE I talked to Eugene at Universal Solar and he interrupted me and talked over me and claimed I was extorting them because I requested them take back their system....YOU KNOW THEY ARE A SCAM when they place the burden of their scam on you…..BUYER BEWARE UPDATE: this company is also universal solar direct...check the reviews....this company is really really bad...they are complete liars...this was never resolved...not even close...check...BBB....it says "answered"...not "resolved" ...BBB is protecting them and so is the state board of contractors...absolutely disgusting ... they lie about everything and all the people that work there lie....go with "Sol UP"

The work has nor been performed yet. I have been traveling. I paid in full upfront. I received two harassing calls to get scheduled at that point I let Jake know (who does scheduling )and alerted him I’m traveling. His response was we can come tomorrow. I again said I’m out of the state and will return the following Tue and I’ll contact you when I return to get a schedule date. For the next 9 days I received two calls a day and on the final day the VM I received was “our next step was to turn us over to the collections and legal department!!!!????” I had already paid in full, clearly communicated that I’m traveling and now you’re threatening me? I spoke to Matt, Jakes boss, he confirmed that full payment was made and told me the rest is policy and he kept pushing for install dates and times for bad weather and he was clearly annoyed that I brought that up, saying he doesn’t have a crystal ball( but we do have a weather channel) I’ve set a date for install with the understanding if the conditions aren’t right we will have to reschedule. Matt then tried to guilt me by saying the install guys wont get paid that day. Still trying to understand how is that my fault? Logan the salesperson was great and that's why I chose them even though we started at $30,000 and eventually ended at just under $15,000. Unfortunately I’ve lost my confidence in them( hopefully they can change that) and instead of personally being productive I’m writing a review about bad customer service for a person who should be considered an easy great customer.

Universal Windows Direct of Indianapolis is trying to make me pay for their error. On 08/06/2019 Jeff (sale representative) gave in home presentation and I ordered my windows. I did not know at the time that my double hung windows would only have half screens! Jeff never discussed the screen options with me or my fiancé. After my windows were installed, I noticed my double hung windows only had bottom screens. I did contact Jeff about this issue and he said that double hung windows come standard with only half screens and I could order full screens for them. He claimed that he went over this detail at the in-home presentation. I explained to him that he did not go over anything in regards to screens at his presentation and my fiancé also did not recall him talking about screens. He said he would talk to his sales manager about this issue but the work agreement clearly shows half screens. I told him had he brought up the screens there is no way I would order windows that open two ways with only half screens-again telling me that he discussed screens. Both my fiancé and I are master degree educated and neither one of us recall Jeff talking about screens –he did not mention screens. Three days later Jeff tells me his manager, Moe (who is in Indianapolis), said I could order the screens for $900! I told Jeff that is not acceptable and asked for Moe’s contact information. After trying to reach Moe for five business days and leaving messages each time, I finally spoke with Moe who informed me that the $900 is a discount and the best that can be done for 6 screens. I told Moe that I am not paying for a mistake his sale representative made at his presentation. Moe said that the work agreement shows what was ordered and that is what was delivered. I told him that yes I understand that but Jeff never brought up any information about screens so because of that I should not have to pay for his employee’s error. I asked Moe for a corporate contact to discuss this matter. Moe told me talking to corporate will not matter because he is the one who will be making the final decision and the price is $900. After I insisted multiple times to talk to a corporate contact Moe finally connected me to Matt. I had to leave a message on Matt’s voicemail and he did get back to me on the same day. I spoke to Matt (who is also in Indianapolis) and again explained how Jeff did not mention screens and how Moe was not willing to make these sale right and that is why I am now talking with him. Matt referred back to the work agreement and how it shows half screens and that is what was delivered. I once again asked why I have to pay extra for one of his employee’s errors-he told me the best price he can give me is $600 for 6 screens and would have them installed without labor costs. This to me is not acceptable and makes me wonder how often this company is doing this to other consumers. It is their error and I should not have to pay for their company’s error. The screens should be replaced without cost. I was going to buy gutters from this company but now with this after the sale customer service I will not be wasting my time – probably end up with gutters and no downspouts! I will tell all my clients to stay away from Universal Windows-just not worth the hassle. Now I can see why their website says 95% customer satisfaction-they don’t care about making their mistakes right!

It never happened, they called after the deal was sealed with almost $3000 down and wanted another $1,000. I mentioned we signed a contract, he told me that they can back out at anytime but I have only 3 days to do so. This was discussed during the signing but he did not point out that it was one sided. They marketed me ( since Oct 2018) as I was unsure when I could get this done. Some tactics were: *They would call early morning to tell me I had an appt at 1 or so, when I did not..*They would offer rebates, *The salesman even wanted to purchase my home, ( after the windows were done)..right! I finally called the manager to put a stop to these messages and calls. One of my neighbors used them and they installed the wrong door and a few others I have spoken to since this has all came about have mentioned a range of prices for the same thing. This is all poor business. They will never get a referral from me but the story will be told to help protect buyers and their hard earned money. A waste of my time totally. They have actually lost way more than the greed for another $1,000. You live and learn and now I feel relieved about it all.

Tony is great to accommodate our work schedules and met with us after 5pm to place our orders. We replaced 2 unusual sized windows in the living room first to see if we liked the product and services. We did. We ordered 2 more windows with a price guarantee. This worked best for us. The Installation team was great to keep to our installation schedule even though they were delayed at their previous site that day. They cleaned up after their work and were very pleasant. The windows look great and matched our interior stain perfectly. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for windows.
