The tech, Sal, was very thorough, polite, and put our mind at ease that our system is ready for the upcoming summer heat. Sal explained what he was checking, why he was checking it, and the condition of the unit. I chose Thiele to install our current system several years ago and have continued to use them for servicing and preventative maintenance. The provide a high quality produce, competitive pricing, excellent post purchase support, and stellar customer service.
Description of Work: Thiele performed a spring heat pump tune up. This consisted of servicing the interior air handler and exterior heat pump.

It went exceptionally well! We had asked for 4 estimates and received 3. Jason Brown of Thiele did the best job of actually measuring and evaluating what would have to be done. He initially could not recommend a heat pump because of control wiring issues - existing 2 wire run under slab as opposed to required 7 wires for heat pump. We had decided to go with his estimate of electric heater and new air conditioner and haot water heater when he contacted us to let us know that there was wireless controlling technology available that would eliminate the need to run additional wires. We decided to go with heat pump based on that additional information. Jason arranged to have installation take place two days later to accomodate our being available to be home. The three man installation team, Steve, Thomas and Duane, arrived on time on the scheduled day. They came inside, reviewed what had to be done and promptly went to work. Duane removed old hot water heater and nightmareish plumbing associated with using hot water and heat exchanger to heat coil in air handler for home heating. Thomas wentout side to remove the old unit and install the new compressor unit. Steve worked on removing the old inside air handler and coils. As the old equiment and tank was removed it was taken outside. Clean up took place as the work took place. After all was installed during the testing it was discovered that the wireless unit outside was not communicating with the inside unit. All three went to work diagnosing and solving the problem. It was finally determined that the circuit board had had a contact come loose in shipment to Thiele. That was promptly repaired. All areas where they worked were cleaned rather well. After all was working Steve walked us throught the proper operation on the new thermostat and where the emergency disconnects were and how to use them. What a professional group of people from Thiele Heating and Air Conditioning! From Jason coming out and evaluating not only what we had currently installed but also reviewing with us possible installation issues and problems that could affect what we could have done to the installers, Steve, Thomas and Duane, everyone we delt with were exceptionally professional and extrememly competent. We highly recommend Thiele. They are the best.
Description of Work: Jason Brown of Thiele came out to give an estimate to relpace old heating and air conditioning system. He provided us with three estimates - 1st to replace existing system with same type of syste, 2nd to move to electric heater with air conditioning and 3rd to go to heat pump. While he was here he instpected existing wiring and piping and explained problems with each option. He followed up with information regarding ability to use newer technology (wireless) to control heat pump. The three man installation team arrived on time. They went to work without delay. One person was taking care of the water heater removal and replacement. A second person was working on removing the indoor air handler and heating coils and air conditioner and intsalling the new equipment. The third person was outside removing the old unit and installing the new one. When the person on the water heater finished he quickly moved to assist the other two. When a minor problem with the controller surfaced they all worked as a well practiced team to trouble shoot and fix the problem. After instalation was completed all old materials and debris was removed and all areas were cleaned up.

I am so glad that I choose Thiele. I would recommend that anyone contact Thiele for their heating a cooling needs.
Description of Work: We got a new furnace and heat pump. Justin came out as I called saying that our heat pump was causing our surge protector to trip. He found that we would need an expensive part for the aging heat pump so best to get a new one. He had Jason come out to give me an estimate and explain. Jason is very knowledgeable as he has worked his way up in the company and is family in the family business. Jason gave me all the coupon discounts and extended warranties, sent in a rebate for me, and was very personable and knowledgable. He also, did another smaller job that would have cost about $300 at no additional charge. I felt like I was treated very well and fairly. I called a few days later and accepted the proposal and was immediately scheduled. The installers did a great job as all is working well. They were very quick in doing the installation of the heat pump and furnace. The house didn't even get cool. We have a 10 year parts and service warranty and a one year maintenance.

I had problems on a Friday so I called them up and said I could deal with the weekend or Monday. The guy came out on Monday and about two hours he found that a cable had shorted out due to a power surge we had. He had the furnace up and running. I had coupon with Angie's List and so he came in and did it on the coupon. It was just really wonderful as I expected from both Thiele and Angie's List where I first heard about him. He was actually excellent on the service call. He was here Monday morning as he promised. They are a very high quality company. I would call him again in future without any questions.

Actually, I can't describe in detail how my experience went with the company because I wasn't here. When the representative came out, he was very nice and very cordial. He was very explicit in his explanation of everything that would be done and how it would be done. It was just great detail. We actually talked to a couple of other companies too and basically due to the representative, that's how we chose to go with Thiele. I really don't know how much it cost us, but it was several thousands. We would definitely use them again in the future. We've had some condensation issues in the garage but all we had to do was call and somebody was out here that day. I wasn't here when they came to put the air-conditioner in. We haven't had any issues with it besides that. Anything we have had an issue with, they came out and fixed it.

We are very pleased with Thiele. Their Service Manager came out to do our estimate (instead of a salesman) and he knew exactly what would be required to do the job and explained it very well. They were able to remove the old system and install the new one in a day, even with the challenge of installing the furnace into a finished basement and flushing the old A/C lines between the heat pump and furnace. They then took extra time to set up the new thermostat and explain its operation to us. An excellent job from start to finish.

Our furnace stopped working last Wednesday evening. I called Thiele on Thursday morning and was told that someone would come out that afternoon. The tech came at ~4:45p. He said the problem was the motor that blows out carbon monoxide. Since it was now after 5p, he could not get the part to make the repair. He said if the part was in stock, the furnace would be repaired on Friday. I called Friday morning to find out if the part was available. I was told that the tech was scheduled to come out that afternoon. Once again, the tech did not show up until almost 5p. It wasn't 5 minutes after he arrived when he said that it was actually the fan attached to the motor that was the problem. Therefore, the wrong part had been ordered. Because it was 5p, he could not get the part to repair the furnace on Friday. So, we had no heat over the weekend. On Monday morning, I called Thiele to make sure that the part was available and that the tech would be at my home in the morning. I started to explain the situation to Jenny when she interrupted me by saying, "Oh yes, I know the whole story. The tech will be out this morning". There was no apology for that fact that we had now gone more than 4 days without heat due to the tech's misdiagnosis. The tech did show up on Monday morning and within 30-45 minutes he had the furnace repaired. I am very disappointed in the service I received. I make a point of using locally-owned businesses. But, I will never use Thiele again. ******UPDATE******* After reading my review, the owner returned my check with a letter of apology. Though the service received was not up to Thiele's standard, the owner's response was once he learned of the incident. The owner handled the situation with professionalism by investigating - finding the errors and correcting them so that this will not happen to anyone else. Mistakes do happen - his response was excellent.

After review of this customer complaint I have come to the conclusion that the customer is correct in her dealings with Thiele. We had two fundamental break downs that should have never happened. This was the first I heard of this particular issue and I and all of us here @ team Thiele most sincerely apologize. Please accept from me (John Traub) our thanks for bringing your experience with us to light as we take these matters very seriously. Again I apologize for your recent experience with us. We have returned the payment of $435.00 and as such no payment has been accepted by us here at Thiele. John Traub

Their installer was very professional. He explained everything he was doing and everything that I needed to do to follow up maintenance wise and all the recommendations. He cleaned up after himself very well. I offered to do the recycles and he said he would take care of them. I didn't have anything to do after he was done. He made sure the work was complete and made sure it worked before he left. The price was excellent. He was right on time.

We were in a desperate situation with no AC and 90 degree weather. Boone Coy was the first of three that we called who could come right out and give us an estimate. He did a very thorough job of listening to what we wanted and calculating what would be best for our tri-level house built in 1964. I had done some research (thank you internet!) so I knew a little about what I was wanting. He agreed with my ideas and then explained exactly why a heat pump and new furnace with variable speed would be best for us. We received a 2nd opinion that disagreed with the variable speed furnace idea stating that our tri-level would never be able to heat and cool at equal temperatures on all three levels. I was torn about what to do as the variable speed furnace cost quite a bit more. Boone did a great job explaining why he felt the variable speed was essential for us to purchase. He made quite a few follow up calls to us wanting to get the sale and get it installed for us ASAP as we were cooking in our 85 degree house! Now that it's all been installed, he was RIGHT. We LOVE our new heat pump and furnace. We haven't used it for heat yet -- just AC. BUT, our tri-level is equally cooled on all three levels. I wasn't sure that could ever happen! We went with Thiele because of their warrantees, very thorough assessment of our needs, Angie's LIst reviews and service promises made after everything is installed. Price seemed high, but we never received an exact 2nd quote in which to compare the price. I think in this case we probably got what we paid for and we are very happy. The installation was done by two Thiele employees who were great. They were on time, clean, thorough, organized and efficient. Very good experience.

Complete details in services provided section.
Description of Work: We had contacted Thiele regarding moisture issues we thought we might have in the lower level of our home. We were in the process of finishing the space with framing, etc during the time of their work of installing a dehumidifier. Thiele had already replaced all other HVAC equipment in our home in the past three years. We had concerns with Thiele during our time of using their services with our discovering issues of equipment not working properly because of installation errors. We also grew frustrated with the inability to talk to people directly in their company or to leave voicemails, all information is communicated solely through a receptionist mediating the messages. Their response time of returning calls and answering any questions is unprofessional and unacceptable. Thiele will make excuses to explain themselves out of any situation rather than to come back to evaluate their work and complete their job, so that the equipment they install works properly. Every issue we discovered turned out to be a problem from their installation errors that they would try to talk their way out of resolving. We were forced to get a second opinion to evaluate all our equipment because we grew to not trust Thiele by their lack of service provided for our home. This company discovered many errors in equipment not being installed properly and not being utilized to the full efficiency intended by its design. One piece of equipment we already had purchased from Thiele has dehumidifier capabilities, this was never mentioned to us by Thiele? If Thiele knew that technology was already in our home then why not explain it to us, rather than sell another expensive piece of equipment to do the same thing? Thiele is a company that does not have knowledge and training in all the products they sell and they are more focused on over selling than servicing!

Response from Thiele Heating & Air Conditioning
I have attempted to break down the response by alleged issues. (1) Moisture levels in the house: They asked us about removing moisture in the basement and Steve in our office stated they could simply go and buy a dehumidifier. Their response was "no, no, no we don't want to empty a bucket or have a hose running to the drain". We then explained that Honeywell makes a dehumidifier that is installed alongside the heating equipment. This product come in 90 to 150 gallon removal sizes. We gave them pricing on each size and they said "we want the 150". What was not mentioned in the complaint was that Member called and stated "we may have jumped the gun on ordering the dehumidifier as there seems not to be a moisture problem in the basement". "Can you come and take it out"? Also "we think it uses too much electricity". As far as the using too much electricity, they have had workers in and out of there home (remodeling their basement) the entire time the dehumidifier was installed, not to mention it was during the hottest stretch in over 70 years. Member never once informed me on how they isolated the dehumidifier as a reason for a higher electric bill. When I explained that this is a special order product and there would be a fee for its removal, this was also the first time in all the years of working for the Members that we received a bad grade on Angies List. (2) Inability to talk to people directly: This is simply not true! From myself (John Traub) to the staff, communication was never an issue. I have personally been to the Member house more than I have been to any other customer's house in my entire history of being in the heating & air conditioning industry. Myself or our team here @ Thiele have returned every phone call ever placed by the Members. Members did complain to me that she wished we had voice mail. I don't have it for a reason, I want people talking to people. The last time Member called for me was on a Friday (a Friday I was out of the office) she left two messages on the same day and called again on Monday morning. Monday mornings are a busy time for us so I usually don't make phone calls until 9:00 or 10:00. I was certainly going to call Member back in a reasonable amount of time. (3) Make excuses rather than come back & evaluate their work: We have always (and I mean always) gone back everytime we have been requested to do so. We have completed 100% of all jobs we started at the Members and again gone back on every occasion we have been requested. (4) Talk our way out of resolving issues: Again we have been out to the Member household many times to resolve any issue they have had. I have no knowledge of any issue left unresolved. If we were asked to go back and turn a screw to the right a half a turn, we would have done it. (5) 2nd opinion: I am only aware of a home inspector that was there as part of the remodel job going on in the basement. He did find some minor issues for us to address and we did address 100% of the issues we were made aware of. I have no knowledge of "equipment not being installed properly". (6) Dehumidifier capabilities: The system they have does have a set up for some additional humidity removal by running the air conditioner longer & over cooling the house by 1-3 degrees. This was set up at one point over the years in the program and if it is/was no longer, I cannot explain why. It is a programmable thermostat. This application is not enough to make a basement the same relative humidity as the main level, so a basement moisture issue is treated seperately. Just from my point of view (an emotional point of view), when I saw the grades given us on Angies List we had received from the Members, it literally made me sick to my stomach. We have bent over backwards to resolve any and all issues they have had and I absolutely stand by my feeling that we have over serviced the heck out of them. We never had even one conversation that would have indicated they feel this way about us. This business and my family are my life and to be graded this way still hurts me to the bone. I promise if we ever make an error, we will correct it 100% of the time. Always have - always will. Since receiving this report, my first action was calling Member and I did leave two messages on two different days on her cell and her home phone with no response from her. So that is why I felt the need to go ahead and write this reply.

After checking Angie's List I called 2 air conditioner companies for estimates. A very knowledgeable gentleman from the Thiele company came and after checking my air conditioner he explained what his company would do to replace it. When he gave me the estimate I was pleasantly surprised because it was significantly less than another company"s (also from Angie's List) price. I asked when the unit could be scheduled for installation and he said right away. The installer came out the next day and installed the new air conditioner. He was prompt, clean, and courteous.

I called them because I had discovered I had a problem that I felt was an emergency situation. Water was pouring into our furnace room from the melting snow and ice. They arrived within 30 to 45 minutes. He went above and beyond what the average serviceman would do and he took care of my problem. I can't give them or the serviceman high enough regards. I give them 10 stars!

The salesman who came to give me an estimate on the replacement of the furnace was very knowledgeable. He measured the house in order to properly size it to the home. He answered all my questions and thoroughly explained his company and what the replacement would include. He understood the policy on the 2010 energy credit reimbursements. He also went beyond call by giving me instruction about my present programmable thermostat. The weekend after his visit, the furnace quit working and a knowledgeable technician came out on a Saturday and discovered a loose wire and replaced the on/off switch, Even though I had just gotten a seasonal cleaning by another company, the technician also suggested that the furnace needed a thorough deep cleaning if it was not going to be replaced. Though we wanted to go with the replacement, it was a little more than we could afford and decided to to try to buy time and go with the deep cleaning for $500 instead. Thiele said they would get back with us. However, we never received a follow up call, but that worked out okay because we had an unexpected job change in the family and decided to try to make it the rest of the season as is until we could get back on our feet again.
Description of Work: I received an estimate for a furnace replacement and a service call where a faulty switch was fixed.

I liked the equipment they put in, but the guy that came out to see what we needed maybe didn’t know exactly what he was talking about. Their price was comparable to everybody else. I may not use their services again.
Description of Work: We had a furnace installed by Thiele Heating & Air Conditioning at another house about two and a half years ago.

The technician was polite and professional. He took time to answer any questions I had.
Description of Work: The service tech inspected my electric furnace (routine maintenance) and replaced the filter. Everything was in good working order. In addition to paying for this service visit, I purchased a service agreement to cover the spring heat pump inspection.
