We've had them for about 25 years or so that we've been living in this house with our boilers. They are totally reliable. They are wonderful! They are a great company that we trust. They are highly knowledgeable about residential boiler maintenance. I would recommend them. We keep using them because of their years of work with boilers. They have been doing that for more than 25 years so I trust them.
Description of Work: We have a hot waiter boiler that heats our house and Thiele Heating & Air Conditioning serviced it. They were here in November of last year. They come out when it starts getting cold and they do the maintenance things to make sure that the boiler is working properly.

I called Thiele in the morning after noticing the furnace was not working. Keith, the technician, came out in the afternoon and quickly diagnosed the problem and found that the igniter had failed. Our Thermo Pride furnace is somewhat uncommon and he had to search for a replacement part. He obtained the part and installed it that day. Before leaving to get the part he manually fired up the furnace to warm up the house. I also appreciate Thiele staff calling to keep me informed. We are very pleased with the quality of service.

Called after waking in the middle of the night to the house smelling like something was burning/melting. Called based on the reviews on Angie's List . Got a rather flippant woman on the phone who called me "honey" and said she can't tell me if the can come out tonight or not. Moving on to others on Angie's List. Might be good if your problem happens 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. But would not recommend them as an emergency expert by any stretch.

We have recently had troubles with our answering service and I have been assured they are correcting the problem. I have used them almost flawlessly for over 10 years and I want to give them a second and third chance to correct the issue. I certainly apologize for any problems this may have caused you.

The Vice President came out. Great sales person. Really believed that installing the gas funace and new duck work that was recommended, would be a piece of cake. Wrong! I was told the entire install would take 1-2 days, leaning more towards the 2 day mark. Was also told that the Vice President would be here at my property on the first day of install so, don't worry about being home. Glad I was home, because he never came out and I didn't want to leave my house to complete strangers I hadn't even met. Day one went o.k. There was a crew of 4 installers, as promised. Day two I welcomed the installers in. They said they wished I hadn't opened the door, because they wanted an early day off and that they had worked late the night before. Made the atmosphere awkward. Then I was told that the two other installers that were supposed to be there, quit the night before because of the company making them work lousy hours. Admittingly, I was concerned, because happy workers make for good work, and I could tell they were tired and such. Both installers worked so hard that Saturday and stayed 8am-9:30pm. I was told the furnace would be off 4hours, in reality, it was 8.5hours which I blame for a lack of understaffing. We were freezing. Day three, the Vice President finally appeared. He was super nice and we even welcomed him to meet our dogs. Again, we had only two installers. They finished up, and left. Shortly after they left, I observed my cable box light being off. Tried turning on T.V. to no avail. Various lights wouldn't turn on. I knew the installers had done something. We called the Vice President and he all of a sudden wasn't nice? We quickly debated on whether or not we had picked the right company. He stated to me "Your house has been on the market for a long time and is old, so don't you think your electrical wires could be the problem??" He talked over us and just bullied his sentences through without stopping to listen to us. We found ourselves, "fighting" to get him to get someone out there. The installers showed up within 2hours I believe. They walked around the property not really knowing what to do. I also expressed my concern and showed them that the thermostat wouldn't reach temp, and would shut off prematurely. They shrugged their shoulders and left. I called the Vice President back, and he said "they are tired and have been at work all day". I demanded to have at least the electrical fixed and didn't want to wait. Afterall, who wants to mess with not having electricity in half their house? Vice President was insensitive and told me he wouldn't authorize someone to come out and fix it that evening because it would cost them money. I had to argue and literally fight before he called back and said the owner of the company would approve it. I shouldn't have had to do that! The electrician came out and found wires cut and wrapped in HVAC tape. He was able to assist and give us electricity. Next day 1/29/13 at 8am, I called and asked for fax number and faxed invoice. Never heard a response. Called twice on that date to ask to speak to owner. Both times I was assured the owner would call me on that day however; I never received a call. Spoke to a manager who said "both techs said you had live wires hanging down all over the attic that made them really scared". I have NO live wires hanging down and have had all new electrical work done. Really can't take this company seriously after they wrapped live wires with duck tape. A tech did get sent out and I cancelled a meeting to meet him out here. Basically, the tech said the house won't get to set temp because of our chimney flute. I thought I had heard it all! I explained, the furnace shouldn't continually stop at 67 when it's set at 70. Then he went into my back bedroom and complained about how cold it was in there. I was sold on the "trunk" duck system so that that particular room wouldn't have to retrieve heat too far away. Guess that was a joke too. We have space heaters in the house. Sounds silly when you have just installed new duck work and a new furnace, right? Would have waited to wright review to see if they take care of the temp problem, but their customer service yesterday and today, made me think twice. My house is just as cold as it was with my previous system. And yes, I have 32 brand new windows (containing argon gas), insulation in my home, and it's only one story. My vents are in the ceiling, but I was assured this wouldn't be an issue. All in all in a nutshell: Manager I spoke with was rude. 2 installers overworked and too tired Vice President was nice but didn't handle complaint with respect Owner is absent

As I understand this situation we were called out because the person/company that put an all electric system in 8-9 months previously had not done the work to [member name removed]'s satisfaction and would not return calls or come back to make the needed corrections. We replaced some duct work, an air handler (left the 8-9 month old one with them,) and utilized the existing outdoor unit. I have investigated and thoroughly reviewed this installation with my team and with the customer. I have my team adamant about their side of the story and a customer adamant about their side of the story. I was not on the job site and so therefore I will not try to claim I know what was or what was not said. My guess that probably the truth is somewhere in the middle. I do know this is not how we do business and have and will continue to work with the customer until they are satisfied. We have not accepted payment (to their credit they have offered multiple times) as I would not want or expect payment until they are satisfied. Our installation manager went back the their home on Saturday 2-15-14 (a date they had chosen) to make some further corrections. I have emailed them to follow up (email is their communication of choice) and have yet to hear back. Again, I promise that we will stand by our work and stand by our customer until satisfaction is complete! John Traub Owner

Furnace broke during winter. Had called another company for emergency service. They kept saying a technician would call back. 12 hours later still no idea when a technician could come. Called Thiele. They had someone there right away. Quick to respond. Very professional, and answered all of our questions. Would highly recommend.

The technician that was sent out wa great. He explained everything completely and without being condesending. He replaced a part and got me hooked up with a service (offered by Thiele) to receive discounts on parts in the future as well. I'[m so glad I had them come out! It may be the reason my furnace has done so well during this polar vortex.

The service people came out the same day even though I called late in the afternoon, and they had a unit they installed the same day. My only regret was that the installation does not look aesthetically pleasing. The new unit was about half the size of the old unit, so that did not make things easy. The new furnace keeps the house warmer and should have lower cost per month. Thiele helped with the available federal and Vectren energy efficiency credits as well. I would recommend them to a friend.
Description of Work: It was necessary to replace our 20 year old furnace with a new one. The old one had failed twice in less than a month. The service guy explained the options and we decided what we wanted. No pressure, no confusion.

Called Thiele to come fix our furnace, which we discovered was not working when we awoke this morning. They had someone (Sal) come out that afternoon. Sal detected the problem and needed parts from a parts supplier that was closing at 5:00pm. Only problem was we live in Avon and it would take 30+ minutes to get the parts and it was 4:40pm. Sal called the office and the owner John Traub told Sal he would run and get the parts before they closed at 5:00 and bring the parts to our house 45 minutes away in rush hour traffic. John did deliver the parts to Sal and Sal completed the repairs, which were mostly covered under warranty. Sal was the most professional HVAC service person that has ever serviced our furnace. He explained what the problems were, what parts he needed to fix the problem and provided great customer service. I could not ask more of Sal, John Traub and Thiele. I give them A+ on their service today. We are very appreciative of them fixing the furnace. I am going to have them do the yearly maintenance in the future.

I was fortunate to find out about a cracked heat exchanger in my furnace during a regularly scheduled tune up before the cold weather started ,so I had the time to get quotes for a new system from several companies. Thiele's visit to my home for the quote took a bit longer than necessary because Boone spent 30+ minutes trying to convince me that a heat pump/furnace combo would be more cost effective; once I pulled out electric and gas bills and did the cost comparison using Thiele's numbers, it became quite evident that this would actually cost me quite a bit more each year. Once we got past that, I appreciated that Boone took the time to ensure he provided quotes on units properly sized to the home and was very responsive in providing me with all the information and comparisons I needed. I also appreciated Thiele's willingness to accommodate my schedule by coming out to do the quote in the evening. I decided to go with Thiele because they we most responsive in providing me with a competitive quote, had excellent Angie's list reviews and they gave the impression of being very detail-oriented. Once I contacted Thiele to let them know my decision, they we able to come out to do the installation the following day. The two installers showed up on time and we discussed how the installation would take place. I was upgrading from a 80% efficiency furnace to a 92% efficiency unit so it was necessary to plumb a new pipe out the side of the house. The unit is located in the garage and I wanted to ensure the pipe went up into the attic and then outside to maximize aesthetics. The installation took about 5 hours to complete. The system has been performing very nicely and I'm very happy with it. The installers did a good job of showing me everything and explaining how to use the new thermostat, maintain the system, change filters, etc. I was, however, disappointed by the lack of attention to detail. The installers did not wear shoe covers in the house, completely crushed one of the day lily's planted near the AC compressor (he actually knelt directly on top of it while showing me some details about the system; there was plenty of room to navigate around it.), dripped teal PVC cement all over the concrete slab in the garage, and the place where the new PVC pipe is run through the ceiling looks sloppy with globs of putty around the pipe at the ceiling. I saw some of the spilled PVC cement before they left and they begrudgingly scraped it up after I pointed it out and asked if it could be cleaned up; I've since found quite a bit more further from the furnace. Very disappointing. I had a PVC pipe run through the garage ceiling into the attic for a radon system so I know that it wouldn't take much to improve the aesthetics of the pipe - just a simple white plastic ring to hide the putty. I asked if they could do something to make it look nicer (and showed them the other pipe in the garage) and they just shrugged me off and told me, "they don't give us those." In short, I'm happy with the system and how it is performing thus far. However, one of the reasons I went with Thiele was that they really promoted "going the extra mile." Both the salesman and the website promoted this philosophy, and I really didn't find it to be the case. While I would consider using them in the future, I certainly wouldn't go out of my way to do so. Update - February 2016 About 5 months after the original installation, the heater stopped working properly. Thiele sent someone out the next morning and he found that the PVC drain line was filled with PVC shavings - further evidence of a sloppy installation job. I was not charged for the repair and the system has functioned well since. This winter, there was significant moisture coming from the vent line that runs from the furnace in the garage up through the floored attic and out the side of the house. A puddle formed on the floor of the garage and the dry wall around where the pipe ran into the garage ceiling was wet. Thiele sent someone out and he found that one of the junctions in the attic had not been glued properly. Because of the moisture in the system while the heater is running, he would not be able to re-glue it until spring. I was okay with that. He noticed that he had been the one to come out and fix the clogged PVC pipe back in 2014 and I mentioned that I had been unhappy with how the leaking pipe was run through the ceiling during the installation. He told me that the guys who installed my system no longer work for the company and that they did not run the pipe through the ceiling correctly and asked what else I noticed wrong during the install. I shared the feedback I have previously detailed in the review above. He left with plans to come back in the spring but knocked on my door again 10 min later and said he had approval from his supervisor to replace the whole pipe that was leaking that day. I left to go to work and when I arrived home, the repair was completed. The junction of the pipe through the ceiling looks VERY nice, very professional looking, has not leaked since and, to my surprise, he had cleaned up the PVC cement that had been spilled all over the garage slab during the original installation. I really appreciate the effort to correct past mistakes and make things right and I have significantly more confidence in future interaction with Thiele going forward.

On Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2013, I called Thiele when I realized my furnace was not producing heat properly. A technician, Frank, arrived that same afternoon and diagnosed the issue as a malfunctioning circuit board. He obtained a quote for the part, which I agreed to, and he made arrangements to come back the next day, Wednesday, Oct. 24. When Frank arrived on Wednesday, he told me that he had put some more thought into the problem and wanted to test another part that could also be the issue. The test were inconclusive, but Frank persisted. He ultimately diagnosed a faulty gas valve and proceeded to make that repair. Frank's persistence and diligence resulted in a bill that was more than $300 less than the original quote. I could not be more pleased with quality of service I received from Frank and Thiele.

We discovered that our previous unit was improperly and illegally installed and asked Thiele (based on high Angie ratings) to come out and make recommendations. The previously unit's intake was improper and both the furnace and humidifier were opened directly into the appliance room where carbon monoxide from the water heater and other appliances could be present. Boone Coy made recommendations and the next day three Thiele employees reconfigured the furnace, replaced the outside unit, and installed a new radio controlled internet accessible thermostat. They accomplished this considerable amount of work in just one day. The work as well done, all well explained by the employees. They were neat and cleaned up all trash. The workers were courteous and professional. Boone followed up to make sure we were satisfied and even the President, John Traub, contacted us to make sure we were satisfied. I would recommend Thiele to anyone wanting to make sure the job is professional.

Arrived promptly early in morning as scheduled. Very professional and experienced (over ten years each) installers. They were not afraid to suggest and make on the spot improvement to the original installation design when it proved prudent and necessary. Worked straight through until job completed around 1 PM. Thiele representative who came out answered all questions and went into every detail to insure our a/c needs were met. Gave us a very generous price. I know they will back up their 10 year parts and labor warranty 100 percent. I wish I had purchased our gas furnace from Thiele in 2003. Regretted not doing so later for furnace ran very dry in winter and son had nose bleeds all the time due to type and placement of humidifier. AS a child I believe the classic coal stoker our family had in the basement in the 40s was a Thiele. It would have lasted a thousand years.

Very professional and efficient. Did the job in one day from 9 am to 6 pm. Crew worked well together. The sales associate, Jason Braum, came and gave us an estimate on the best they had and a standard model. The best models had several rebates, and the standard model did not. There was not a big difference in price, so we went with the best. He was very thorough in his explanation of the work that would be done, and said that we would be very happy with it. And we were very happy with it. He went above and beyond to make sure we got all of our rebates. The other four employees were Dee, Rick, Mike and Tony. They did an excellent job, and answered all of our questions. With employees like these, it is no wonder that Thiele Heating & Air Conditioning has a good reputation, and they have such a high rating on Angie's list. You can use us for a reference anytime.

I went through a process of gathering quotes. Based upon unit ratings, service, reputation, and times, I selected Thiele. Their price wasn't the lowest or highest but because of the unit's past performance it seemed to be the best selection for me. The process went very smoothly. I made my decision on Monday and was able to get an appointment for installation on Friday. The only concern I have was there was only one installer and usually they have 2 people so it took longer than I was originally told but I was fine with that. What concerns me is the way the piping/lines were installed wasn't the best but the best one installer could do. I hope this doesn't lead to issues with other items (sump pump, ducts, etc.) in my utility room down the road. The installer, Rick, was very professional and had me show him all the places he'd need access. He explained what he would be doing and then went to work. He was very friendly as well. He took all the old unit and additional materials and cleaned up. He then walked me through everything that was installed, how to use, what to watch for, answered my questions, and had me fill out a final piece of paperwork and pay. It took about six hours. Although total satisfaction will depend on how well the unit performs over the next several years and will be a big part of whether or not I will be a completely satisfied customer. However, based upon the experience, professionalism and the past performance of the equipment, I would use Thiele again and recommend them to family/friends.

The other AC company did not install the AC properly. Used the wrong size hose to connect the A C and did not put in the right amount of vents.
Description of Work: They fixed a mess that another A/C company created. Very helpful and fixed the problems. Thiele came in and fixed everything. They gave us a good price (I don't remember how much. Very pleased with their work.

He covered his feet when arriving and checked the water line from the furnace first which I had never seen done before. He told me I neded to replace the filter more often. Outside he used his hose extention to make sure the outside unit was completely cleaned. Afterward he said everything was working fine but that my freon was slightly low and, due to age, I may want to consider replacement but there was no pressure.
Description of Work: Service and clean airconditioning. Very pleasant man checked and cleaned my airconditioning.

The problem was fixed. The experience was ultimately unpleasant.
Description of Work: Air conditioner ran in winter at same time furnace was running and thermostat was set to heat. The same company installed the furnace several years earlier. It was wired wrong, although I hadn't noticed the issue before because I usually remember to turn off the power to the air conditioner and cover it in the winter - this was a year I forgot to do that. The problem was fixed, but I still had to pay because it had been too long ago since they installed it. (?) The real problem arose when I tried to pay for the service. It seemed like a never-ending spar as to whether I'd buy a one-year inspection of the A/C and the Furnace. I didn't want it, but the guy was relentless. I'm good at saying no, which I did many times. He always came back with some other "deal." over and over. It became harassment. I finally said OK to move things along. He made a sale but lost a customer. They got their money, and I don't want them back here. I won't deal with this company again.

Response from Thiele Heating & Air Conditioning
This furnace was installed in June of 2003 through Community Action of Greater Indianapolis. We had not been called out to do any service until we were called on February of 2012. Nine years! We repaired his unit and even excepted a competitors coupon. This is the first time his "not wanting a maintenance plan" has come to my attention. These plans can be canceled at any time for any reason for all applicable refunds. In this case a full refund could have been requested at any time. I will be happy to send a refund in the full amount per his request. Please call me (John Traub) @ 639-1111 to make arrangements.
