We have had the system for quite awhile at our home in Avon, Indiana and the monthly bill for 26.00 is automatically paid by my bank. Last December out of the blue they sent a bill for $400+ and it was paid as usual. I caught it and immediately called and asked for a refund. To date (7/18/14) all I have received are occasional comments that they will get it sorted out. They are still sending me a bill for $26.00 each month. About 6 weeks or so ago we had a problem with the system and couldn't get it to turn off. They promised to come the next day but didn't show up. Then they promised again a day later. Still no response, no phone calls and I still can't get my money back.

Called Superior Security and Sound (after I was able to find the right phone number, it is an old number in several of the internet based phone number services) about the fact that when I had set my alarm off accidentally, the monitoring company did not call. The system in my house identified through error codes a problem with contacting the monitoring company. When I reached them about 10:30 PM, they did some qualification of what the issue was over the phone. Based on that they scheduled an appointment for the next day between 3:00 PM and 5:00 PM. They called about 2:20 PM and said they would be able to be at our home by 2:40 PM, if that was okay with us, and it was. They uncovered that the installer for cable company, when switching our phone service from phone company to the cable company, had not properly connected the service. In essence, the cable company had disengaged the ability for the monitoring company to be contacted. Superior has identified a workable solution that removes the dependency on the cable company connection for our phone service and has scheduled the repair/replacement to be completed in 2 business days! I am extremely impressed with the personal touch of the owner and the demonstration of loyalty to a long time customer that is more and more rare in the marketplace today. The only point of frustration was the lack of a website of their own, and trying to rely on phone listing websites that for the most part had an old number. The recording on this number said "the call didn't go through, try again later." In my mind I associated that with the problem my alarm system was having and so I tried throughout the day until I did a more in depth search to find an alternative phone number that worked. SSS acknowledged the problem and identified their efforts to address it and the frustration they had with the situation as well. In the big picture, it was a bigger deal to them than it ended up being for me.

Alarm system was fine, some issues with the speakers. Their rates for the alarm system is about average but when building the house with an alarm system installed we were locked into a contract with them for monitoring, will be canceling their monitoring soon and going with another company with hopefully a more user-friendly alarm system. Their work was below average in quality in terms of the installation. I believe they use a contracted monitoring service and have had no problems with the 2-3 times the alarm system has went off and we have received a call from the monitoring center.
Description of Work: Built a new house and SSS was responsible for the low voltage to include the alarm, cable, phone lines, and speaker system.

I filed a previous review of this company. Although I was not at all pleased, I spoke with an older gentleman that owned the company who assured me he would be monitoring my account to assure I didn't have further issues. I remained since I didn't have time to shop for a new company at that time. In June I had further issues and chose to close my account. Now in September, I have noticed they continue to bill me for the service. I spoke with Karen today (says she is one of the owners). She said she didn't care what I did she will continue to bill me until I allow them access to my home to physically disconnect the service. At this point, I don't trust the company and am not willing to allow them into my home. I'll be seeking arbitration from a governing entity. Update 5/25/12 I never resolved issues with this company until I filed a complaint with the IN Attorney Generals office. I have retained copies of my correspondence with them and the letter she sent to the AG's office stating an 'oversite' in the billing. This was a great company when her father-in-law was running it, but my current recommendation would be to stay away!

I have spoken to the mebmer on numerous occasions I was never rude to her as far as her first complaint when a phone line gets cut we offer a cell backup to back up her security system also gave her the price and the price for additional keypad along with a free service call I hope she finds a alarm company that will meet her needs we strive on great customer service we do need to enter the house to disconnect her system as long as it is hooked up to the phone line it will dial out she signed a 60.00 disconnect form when she became our customer which we have never been paid for I have spoke to our staff and noone has been rude to her we apoligize if she feels that way. My internal alarm sounded at approx. 10pm. It alarmed for approx. 10min. before my dogs had checked out the house and I silenced it; 20 min. later the police responded to my NEIGHBORS ALARM. I called SS and did not receive an answer at any of their emergency numbers. I called this morning and spoke with one of the owners, Don's wife (Karen?). She was rude and made comments like, "common sense would tell you it wouldn't alarm if the phone line is cut". She kept cutting me off, so I ended the call. This is a repeat of the process when they initially set up service. No one seemed to know who was on first and they still have never given me the estimate on installing a second keypad (1 yr. ago). They are cheaper than some of the other companies, but what good is that when your alarm calls aren't answered and you're treated rudely because you feared for your safety? I'm taking estimates from some of Angie's List "A" rated companies to upgrade my alarm system and handle the monitoring.
