I would like to put a simple caveat to this story saying that I'm not an HVAC tech, just someone who spent about 10+ hours googling. Noting that there are issues with this, I still believe VERY firmly I was taken advantage of. Nonetheless, here's the story. We have a rental property where the furnace stopped working. We called Airtron to come to the house and look. They were there quickly and on schedule. When the technician did the analysis he came back and said we need a new "Inducer Assembly" and the price is 950 dollars. But to replace the furnace (that was 17 years old) would be 2000. And then in Marion County there is an additional 400 charge to modify the chimney for the exhaust. We were told that we could replace the furnace the next day however it would take 2 days to get the inducer assembly. We made the decision to replace the furnace for the entire price of 2400 dollars since a roughly $1000 repair on a 17 year old furnace seemed steep. Also we had a tenant without heat. Please note that this was during the extreme cold weather in early January (-20 wind chills that night) not during a mild weather front where we had time to consider other options or get second opinions. When I started to do some online research on 30+ hvac websites, I found not a single reference to anything called an "inducer assembly". Then I found technical schematics of the specific furnace model we had and there was no such thing as an inducer assembly. So naturally we called Airtron to ask for an explanation. The person we spoke with explained that they couldn't buy a single part called an inducer assembly, in fact in included 4 parts that couldn't be bought separately. I asked what the parts were. The person we spoke with said he would have to get back to us. When he did (the next day or day after, I don't remember) he told me the specific parts. Interestingly enough, I could buy all of the parts individually on one of the Sears parts websites for a grand total of 225 dollars. Also note that Sears was willing to overnight the parts if need be. Given that the parts were 225 dollars I had to assume that the installation would be extensive as there's a 726 dollar difference there. From my reading, the replacement of some of the parts (since no one mentions replacing an "inducer assembly") isn't extensive, in fact, on several sites I read that replacing the parts can be as little as 10 minutes for a professional. Again, I'm not an HVAC tech but at this point things are really feeling wrong. Then I started to think back to the repair I had done by Airtron on my A/C unit and recalled a VERY similar scenario. We could replace a specific part for 1200 or replace for 3000. Same thing - old unit, blah blah. The research I did then was legit in that the part was expensive and the time to replace/install was too. So replacing seemed to be the right thing to do then. As I got home from work that day, my neighbor had an Airtron van in his driveway with a brand new furnace going in. I asked what happened, he gave me the exact same story. Now, I'm willing to accept that it is necessary sometimes, especially on older models. But the 3 interactions I've now had with this company there always seems to be an expensive repair on a HOT day or COLD day that COULD be solved just by replacing the unit. Note - I will not be using them again as their MO seems to be overcharging for a repair in order to sell more replacement units. The last time I spoke with them I voiced my displeasure and they said someone would call me back. That hasn't happened. Since the new furnace is in and working fine, the only recourse I have now is the BBB and Angie's List. So here I am. Hopefully I will dissuade at least a few people from using them.

Furnace stopped working on 20 day - They had someone out to assess on same day. Reviewed/Priced options and had new furnace installed next day. They were on time and professional.

I had an average experience. They did not do a very good job.

They came to our home and gave a quick diagnostic, everything went fine.

I advised this company that I needed my property serviced in the Crawfordsville area and they stated they did service this area. After I had purchased the Big Deal they contacted me to advise they were not able to service my area. They were very polite and prompt in getting back with me, however, I do feel this issue needs to be corrected with Angie's List.

Made an appointment for my winter furnace inspection and checkup. Airtron showed up exactly as promised and did a very thorough inspection and cleaning of the system. Technician was very professional. I received a detailed inspection and test report within the same day. Everything checked out ok and there was no effort to sell any additional service or replacement parts unlike others attempt from time to time. Very happy with the service and degree of technical knowledge.

The techs were on time, pleasant and efficient. Furnace works well.

Very impressed with the consultant who evaluated our situation and gave us pricing options - professional, thorough, clear, friendly. Install crew was on time, friendly, professional and efficient. Gave us an install date 2 days after we confirmed what system we wanted.

The service was pretty good. As a result of their service I purchased an annual maintenance plan with them. I will keep using them in the future.

It was good and they actually did a great job. Whatever they have to do, they did it and they showed me what they did. They basically described whatever furnace required and the additional charge.

I would give them an F. They did a horrible install. They flooded our upstairs because they didn't put a drain line back in place for a water softener so they have cost us $1000 extra. Repair and constant having to go have them back fixing things that they didn't do right the first time so I would never ever use them again or recommend anyone ever use them in Indianapolis.

During the home inspection performed (by another company) for the purchase of our house, we discovered that the upstairs heater had a significant vibration when the blower motor was on. The homeowner was required to repair the vibration before closing on the purchase, and they hired Airtron to perform the repair. The Airtron technician inspected it and determined that the filter was clogged and the vibration was caused by restricted airflow, so they replaced the filter and indicated the problem was resolved so that we could proceed with the purchase the home. A few weeks after closing on the house (neither the heater nor the air conditioning were used between the repair and the first time we used it), we turned the heater on and it was obviously not fixed. There was still a significant vibration that was so bad that the heater closet door, pictures on the wall, and hangers in a nearby closet constantly rattled loudly enough that we had to turn it off at night for anyone in an upstairs bedroom to sleep. In addition, the floor near the heater noticeably vibrated up an down whenever it was on. We called Airtron to return and fix the problem correctly, and the first words the (different) technician said when he turned on the heater were, "Oh, wow". It was obvious that they had not fixed it correctly the first time, when the cost was the responsibility of the previous owner. During the second visit, they discovered that two of the three brackets on one side of the blower motor were broken, and this was the true cause of the vibration. Airtron replaced the blower, bracket, and a capacitor, but refused to admit their mistake and bear the cost of the incorrect repair and charged us $727. They claimed that the damage occurred after their first repair, despite the fact that the house had been unoccupied with the HVAC system off for the entire time between the repair and the first time we turned it on. They did a shoddy, incomplete repair on their first visit and refused to own up to their mistake.

On time, neat, and they kept us informed of progress.

Even though I have an old furnace he did not try to force feed me a new system. This is wonderful, as I have had high pressure from companies before to get a new furnace. He did recommend a new system since parts aren't readily available for my system anymore. Since he was so upfront and honest, when the time comes for a new system, Airtron will be my first call.

Their service is very good. Scheduling is very easy and they're prompt.

Technician arrived on time and replaced faulty blower. It took about 45 min. He ensured that heat is upto mark with new blower. Completely satisfied with service.

Our experience is fine. I don't have dislikes. I think their price is really good. They have good customer service. They call and remind you of the time for the appointment. You don't have to keep track of it. They don't give you an all-day or half-day time frame. It's usually two hours. They're scheduling. They have also Saturday hours and evening hours. I would give them A's on everything. I would absolutely use them in the future.

very efficient and professional service. Purchased $119 annual maintenance through Angie's List for spring and fall checks of furnace and A/C. Could not inspect A/C for this visit due to outside temp.

Serviceman called when he was on his way and showed up right on time. He was very diligent and took the time to explain all work performed. Great Job!

I called C & S Heating & Air conditioning company in Franklin, IN. (recommended to me by a neighbor) for a 2nd opinion. C & S did many tests on my A/C unit and said it was a totally different part that was in the outdoor part of the A/C unit; not in the air handler upstairs that Air Tron stated that it was. Air Tron's misdiagnosis was an expensive part & labor costs to repair PLUS they stated it was NOT on the insurance plan I had with them. The "actual part" that was needing repair "WAS" on my insurance plan & should have been covered on the insurance plan I had with AirTron. C & S charged me $460.00 ish for fixing the A/C problem. It was NOT the part that AirTron tried to charge me $1,800.00 to repair. AirTron reimbursed me for the $460 bill I paid to C & S Heating and A/C & also gave me a refund of the Insurance policy. Make sure you get a 2nd opinion on expensive home repairs, because I could have been ripped off had I not gotten the 2nd opinion and I still would have had a broken A/C. JMO .

parts in were wrong, found manufacturer did not make part needed for their heat pump. Discussed options and decided to move heat pump away from bedroom window, They worked in extreme cold, consulted us on all aspects and very polite, Will continue to use this firm to service heating and air conditioning.

Provider arrived promptly, cleaned and tuned my furnace (which was not operating). Cost was exactly what it was supposed and provider went out of his way to ensure I would not have any more issues this winter. I will use Airtron again in the spring to have my A/C tuned up as well. Highly recommended!!
