Description of Work: They were called in to check out the furnace upstairs. Then we had the technician check out the furnace in the basement which provided heat to the main floor and the basement. He said it was hazardous and should not be operated and switched it off. He said if we wanted, we could turn it back on with the external switch.When my husband tried to turn it back on later, it wouldn't turn on. We called their office and asked for the technician to return as a well functioning furnace suddenly stopped working after the technician's visit. They insisted they could not turn it back on. We told them only the blower was coming on and there was no heat even after turning the external switch and asked if something else had been modified by the technician. They insisted nothing else had been changed. The supervisor also gave us a very expensive estimate for repair versus replacement which almost made replacement seem feasible. |We called another A rated company and the technician found the gas valve inside had been turned off by Airtron's technician. Airtron had withheld this information when we called them. Moreover, the second company said there was no imminent or major repair required. The quote they gave for repair was one sixth of Airtron's quote. Airtron's technician had raised fears about carbon monoxide poisoning and so forth. We installed carbon monoxide detectors and have spent the whole winter with our original furnace with no repair or replacement. The carbon monoxide detectors have not beeped even once. |I'm appalled at the conduct shown by Airtron. To switch off the gas supply to the furnace in the middle of winter, omit to tell the homeowner and then insist on urgent, imminent repair is both negligent and unethical.

Very honest, professional and trustworthy, which definitely has not always been my experience in the past with other companies. Would absolutely use again.

Description of Work: My heat pump was not operating properly but it was not an emergency. I found a "deal" on Angie's List from Airtron that had a reasonable service call charge plus offered $100 off any needed parts. I was surprised that the technician came out on Sunday after dark for no additional charge. He identified the problem but a part had to be ordered. A week later the part came in and was installed. As far as I know, I did get the $100 savings on a $600 part but I suspect the part markup was substantial.

Description of Work: We purchased a furnace tune-up special through Angie's list. Our first encounter with Airtron was less than impressive. Upon completion of the tune-up, the technician recommend we replace our condenser. We declined at the time but I told him I was interested in pursuing an annual or biannual tune-up for our furnace and air conditioning unit. The technician could not give me the details of such a plan and so he left and I was left somewhat dissatisfied. I decided to give Airtron another try and asked them to come out and replace the condenser, as was recommended. Tomas came out to do so and he was extremely helpful. After replacing the condenser, he explained the biannual tune-ups that are offered. He was very honest and forthcoming. Tomas was also very patient as I had to meet my kiddo off the bus while he was here. Tomas gave me a new found confidence and satisfaction with Airtron.
