I live in a downtown Indianapolis condo, which has its challenges. The staff were very focused on the customer, and made sure all my questions were answered and concerns addressed. The staff were friendly and skilled at their job. The follow-up after the installation was excellent. All of my contacts with the company have been positive.. I look forward to many years of association with this great company.

+ -1 moreToby Hess, the plumber, arrived on-time and went to work immediately to diagnose the problem. He thought the lavatory drains needed to be cleaned first before anything else. He completed the work and nothing else needed to be done. He suggested we make sure to thoroughly rinse the lavatory drains especially after shaving or brushing teeth to make sure excess lather or tooth paste are flushed away. I paid our bill with the Angie's List coupon I'd just purchased and he was on his way within 1 hour. Great job and professional service. Toby made sure he put on protective boot covers to make sure floor surfaces were kept clean and did a great job cleaning up when he was through with the job.

+ -1 moreWhile things did get off to a rocky start as when I made the appointment I was told I was the first visit scheduled visit at 8:30 AM. No one arrived & I did not receive a call until 11:30 when I was told that she had a technician available & I explained what I had originally been told & she apologized profusely & she told me she would give the information to the property party & that it would not happen again. I love this company & have never had problem one so I accepted her apology & took her at her word that the information would be given to the property party & that it would not happen again. I received an email telling me Damon Yocum was the technician that would be arriving to service my air conditioner. He was there probably within 10 minutes of the phone call. He said the outside unit had been so well cleaned last year that it did not require a lot of cleaning but he checked it & the filter which I told him I would be changing within the next week or so & he said that was fine. He said everything checked out & it was in fine operating order. I electronically signed the invoice as he left. At the time he was leaving I was getting a scheduled visit from an insurance agent regarding medicare. While we were sitting there talking I was feeling really cold which is not normally the case as I keep the thermostat at 75. I went back & checked the thermostat which was set at 70. I just figured he didn't know where it was set so I fixed it back to where I wanted it & that was the end of it. This is a great company that I have used for several years now & I use them for everything they are capable of doing. You will not be sorry with this company - I love them!

+ -1 moreSetting up the appointment was easy and the guy showed up on time. Told me I have what looks like a large AC coolant leak and gave me a couple options for repairs/replacements. After doing a bit of research and getting price estimates from other HVAC companies I realized that the price estimates were way high, and it just seems like they wrote things up to convince me to replace the system. And even that was around $1000 more than estimates I got from three other companies.

+ -1 moreHonestly - if you want to make this right you should come out here yourself!!! You should replace what we have with an upgraded version and give us another free year of service. I will wait to grade this after I see what recourse you will take with this info.
Description of Work: This message is for Chris Cunningham, the owner of Service Plus. Chris, my husband and I purchased a heat pump/air and furnace. Approx. $10,000.00. We had the original installation that was totally done incorrectly. You sent other people out to fix it and they literally said how "embarrassed they were that it was done that poorly". You were kind enough to give us a small discount. Since then we had the duct work cleaned - another company did it because your machine was broke down, one month later our furnace made so much noise we had to call for service. The tech said it was running hot because after cleaning the vents they did not change the filter and large chunks of dirt was causing it to "run hard". We changed the filter and in less than 30 days it happened again. This time the tech cut the vent to find the vents never got cleaned out in the first place. So you sent the same company out again to clean the vents who cleaned the vents but cut your company down the entire time. You were kind enough to send free filters and another year of free service. Three weeks ago we started having water build up around the furnace unit in our utility room. I called and was told the tech would be here at 12:30pm. I had a dr appt at 3 and since they failed to show - and I called to tell them I had to leave- they rescheduled for the following day. Again - the second day. No show. 3 days later and the water has now flooded the utility room, gone through a pantry wall and half way into my kitchen. I called again.... Your company wanted to send a plumber and charge me a service fee. NO! I said it is an HVAC problem and I want ERIC to come out because he seems to be the only technician that knows what he is doing. You sent another gentleman who admitted that it was a serious HVAC problem and that Eric would be out to fix it tomorrow. This guy apologized all over himself and said this shouldn't have happened. It was a "leak in the radiator tube and we were losing freon and this couldn't have happened by accident - it was a failure on the part of the install". We expected ERIC TODAY. At 12:30 I got a call that Charles would be out - I said I'm at the dentist and was told Eric would be out this afternoon. "Okay, we will call you right back with a time Eric will be out". At 7:40pm I called again and was told they would call me right back. It's now 8:45 pm and I still have not heard from anyone. It's pretty bad when you spend that kind of money on a furnace heat pump and have to have a service repair person out here every month!!!

+ -1 moreThey didn't do it at that time. When I asked them for a camera to go through with a sewer drain, he said it was clogged and the line was broken. I had the line replaced. I had to find somebody else. I tried to do it myself because in this case they didn't. I had to pay $100 for a camera to go through it. I've seen it before anyway. They didn't do very well at all. They went out there that day and they actually didn't do it. The guy who ended up doing it was the guy who ran the sewer video camera. They told me the wrong information with what's wrong with my line. I told their manager when I talked to him.

+ -1 moreWe had a noise checked out and it was determined that the sump pump was failing. With rain forecasted for tomorrow, we knew it had to be fixed quickly. We also requested an adjustment to our home's water pressure, resulting in the installation of a new regulator and the replacement of a frozen water valve. The job was done very professionally. My only complaint was the cost. I think they knew our options were limited given the forecast. We paid $1,400 for 2+ hours of work and I would guess that 80% of that price was labor. Pretty steep.

Description of Work: He came to check the release valve of the water heater. He adjusted the temperature and then came back to follow up. When he came back he offered to install a part on our refrigerator for us since he was there.

After the service was complete, I called other providers in the area and received quotes at half the cost or less ($250-$350) than Service Plus ($700+). Shame on me for not calling around before the service, but my house was going on 3 days at 80 degrees. I called after and gave them the opportunity to make it right and they never called me back. If this is how they treat a recurring customer with a service plan, who knows how they'll treat new customers. I highly recommend going elsewhere.

He even observed that my water softener was leaching resin beads into the toilet tank. While he said he could replace my water softener with his, he suggested that I contact the firm that originally installed my unit to see if they could repair it. I followed Ronnie's advice and contacted Elgin Water Care immediately after Ronnie left my home. Elgin was able to troubleshoot Ronnie's finding that very afternoon. Ronnie's hunch was right -- the repair was made, and I saved money.as a result. This kind of professionalism is increasingly rare and greatly appreciated!

That evening Dan arrived, spent some time detecting where the problem was and promptly secured the hose that had become detached. Service was provided in a timely and efficient manner.

+ -1 moreI appreciate that they were able to get a tech out to our house the next day but we did not have them do the service and we won't be calling them again. The tech diagnosed the issue with the capacitor and quoted $550 to repair. Researching the part came up less than $100 and researching general ranges to replace this part coming up at $130-$250. My mom was at the house and pointed this out to the tech who then dropped the price to $450. I called the service manager to ask why their price was more than double what another company quoted and he gave the whole "overhead, insurance, gas, 10% margin etc." I get it, I don't expect the work for free. He then said $350 was the best they could do. While still $80 higher than the other quote I got and what I ended up paying to have it fixed for, I would have paid the $350 if they had started there. I have no time or respect for price games and unfair markups.

They told me they price by the job so it wouldn't have mattered how long they stayed to do job. I would have done the work myself if I knew it would have cost so much.
