Service Plus Heating Cooling Plumbing

Did a thorough inspection. Gave me a written list of findings and recommendations. He was courteous and professional.

The work was done efficiently with explanations of what we could do to insulate our pipes in the crawl space. It was reassuring to know that our pipes were in good order. He explained how to flush the water heater and we might try it on our own next time. We are very satisfied with the work and plan to use this company in the future.

The plumbers were personable, but did not correct the tub draining out even when the stopper was down. The reason that I will never use this company again is when I called back to report that the tub was still inappropriately draining it took over a week to get someone back out to fix it. They only operate during business hours M - F, or charge you an "after hours fee". I had already taken off half an afternoon waiting, and couldn't take anymore time off. However, I was told by the operator that unless I wanted to incur an additional fee that that I would have to take more time off to wait during a 4 hour window. I found the operator rude and non-sympathetic especially since I had paid $600 to have a simple cartridge replaced! I think that they have such a high Angie's List rating because in exchange for the rating, they send the reviewer a $5 Starbucks gift card. All of this happened back in January and I still cannot believe how rude the operator/scheduler was. Also, I did take off another afternoon, and yes, the bathtub still drains when the overflow valve is up! I do not mind errors, but poor customer service is unacceptable.

The technician reviewed and evaluated all of my faucets in my bath and kitchen areas. He opened the cabinets under the sinks and looked for any problems or leaks. He explained everything to me prior to going thru the cabinets. He was extremely professional and did a great job. Two weeks later, on December 21, 2012 I called them again for my pilot light was out and I was unable to get it lit. The same technician, Ron S. came out and showed me what I was doing wrong and how to use the electronic pilot light reset button. He was very professional, but unfortunately needed to charge me again for another service charge. Actually, it was worth my peace of mind knowing how to reset the pilot light should it go out again. Thank you Service Plus for having such great employees on your team.

Went well and they came with an estimate and returned with a new toilet. The plumber was efficient and took aced in a professional manner.

I had purchased a new shower fixture for Service Plus to install. I also had purchased their Big Deal - $59 for $265 worth of plumbing services. Jeremiah had to cut an access panel in the wall to install the fixture, which cost me an additional $234. He was very nice, friendly & courteous. Unfortunately, once the fixture was installed & he turned the water back on, it sprung a leak, causing drywall damage to the downstairs bedroom ceiling. Service Plus has a sub-contractor that they use for drywall repair, so he gave me the number to call to have those repairs made. The next day, the shower fixture was leaking inside the tub, so I called Service Plus again. A different plumber came out - again nice, friendly & courteous. He found a defective part on the Delta shower faucet I had purchased from Lowe's. Instead of making me return it to Lowe's, he swapped it out with an identical one he had and he took care of the warranty issue on their end. Very nice - that saved me a trip and everything worked great. Getting my drywall & ceiling painted took 2 trips from their subcontractor. His first trip out, he was told to only repair the drywall & said it would dry white and match the color of my ceiling. Well, it dried a grey color, so I had to call him back out to paint my ceiling. Even though Service Plus paid for the drywall repairs, it still took time out of schedule and was a hassle for me. Meanwhile, I paid them full price for their services. I feel like they should have cut me a discount for my inconvenience. Service Plus guys are clean & friendly - Jeremiah even gave me his cell phone # and said to call anytime we have questions - but there is too much competition out there. I'll try someone else next time.

I bought a deal through AL. Install went great. Service person was professional and polite. Had an issue with charge. Owner was helpful and we resolved the issue.

I purchased an Angie's List Big Deal for this service and it was fine; just great. The person who came out was very courteous, came in and checked both toilets and replaced something in one of them.

First, I we flushed some things down the drain such as flushable wipes and feminine products that you are advised not to do. Nonetheless, we have not had any problems in 8 years at this house. The first occurrence of a back-up happened on a Friday night in June. Saturday morning someone came out and ran the snake and unplugged the line. They ran it thru the toilet drain because I had already pulled the toilet. Nothing was said about finding anything we should not have in the line. $375. Seemed high to me, but it was a Saturday and I never had any experience. Be advised, Angie's List discounts do not apply to a Saturday. The second occurrence was August 28. This time tech came out and ran the snake and found some products in the line that could have contributed to the clog. I did not ask if he was going to run a camera, because I was a little naive. Cost $79 - Angie's List coupon. It was $79 because I pulled the toilet and put it back otherwise it would have been $350. The third occurrence was September 4. This time a tech was dispatched with a camera. Now if you have never seen a camera before like this it is pretty cool and an awesome sales tool for the plumber to use. The camera revealed a break or crack or separation of the pipe after it left the house. The tech showed me how mud was coming in the pipe. My sewer line was out of business. Tech showed how he would have to redo some piping in my basement and then have to use some sort of excavator outside the house to dig up and replace pipe on the outside. And I will give the tech credit, very professional, very knowledgeable. He went out to his truck and whipped out a quote of $3850 for all of this work. There is no doubt in my mind he would have gotten this done and repaired for the price. My word of caution is do not feel rushed. This company did not make me feel rushed. This is a lot of money, one must do their homework. As I indicated I needed some time, money started to melt off the quote. Such as the money I had already spent would be waived since the problem was not corrected on previous visits. Second, I inquired about Angie's List Discount, and was advised I could not have both the discount and the credit for previous charges. After a pause, the tech advised he could ask his supervisor if the discount could apply too. Almost 25% vaporized. Now I knew I had to make some calls. Fortunately for me I had met an owner of a small plumbing firm after the first problem. For some reason I felt a loyalty to Service Plus. But I called this small company, and explained the problem. He felt it could be fixed on the outside of the house. So he gave me a price for fixing it on the outside, and then he told me if need how much it would be on the inside. What I liked about this is he was fair. Even if he had to do work on the inside of the house, it would have been considerably less money. This company used hand shovels to dig out the problem area and make the repair. The break was so that all the work was on the outside. Today when I look at where he worked, I cannot tell. No excavation equipment tore up my yard. Water is flowing wonderful. Some take-aways: 1) Anytime something fails, you must ask why. Especially, when you have never had problems in 8 years and your habits have not changed. I knew better because of troubleshooting work I had done in my past. 2) If happens twice, repeat step one again. 3) Personally, I am a small businessman. I enjoy doing business with the owner of companies. They generally will do a good job because they depend upon word of mouth. 4) Never feel rushed. 5) Service Plus has many satisfied customers and for most they have been well taken care. As I said before, I believe they would have done a great job. But I was disappointed it took the third trip before they brought out the camera and second the price. I am not too sure I would not have found someone even cheaper, but I showed my price too soon to the people that did the work.

We had purchased a big deal for the service, and he came out and got the job done. They did what we expected they would, and everything went smoothly.

The tech was prompt, polite, and professional. Really set the standard for how a service call should be. We discussed everything and there were no surprises.

I bought the big deal to replace an outside faucet. The provider stated that this big deal did not cover the outside faucet. The cost was a lot more than I was expecting. He was only here an hour.

It was an Angie's List Big Deal that I purchased. The man who did the service was great. What I was a little concerned on was the price because it was a fixed price for what I wanted done. They have a firm price on that which was like $750. The job was like an hour and a half and for $750, I was a little taken aback by it but I needed to have it done. The guy who did the services was apologetic but he was bound on the price. I found that plumbers have a set price that they go by for each job and I understand that. I was shocked at the price but I understood the idea of a set price. I was aware that other plumbers do the same thing. It wasn't unusual. I was aware of the fixed price. I just thought they should have been able to adjust it according to the job itself. I would probably use them again with the knowledge that there are fixed prices with plumbers and he also was very good at cleaning up.

Very professional and knowledgeable. Get into the crawl space and found a leaking "T" connector. Found blocks in several faucets and cleaned a shower head of build-up. $50. Amazing. Thinking that an annual plumbing tune-up makes as much sense as a twice annual HVAC tune-up.

Absolutely the worst experience with a service provider I have ever had. Prices were outrageous! I needed a new flush valve in a toilet and they wanted $195 for that and to replace the tank gasket they wanted another $280!. I can buy a whole new toilet for $129 at Lowes !! Then, as part of the plumbing inspection I had the service person look at my other toilet that WAS WORKING before he arrived. His inspection resulted in a piece of that flush valve breaking. So when he left I had two non-working toilets. This all happened late in the afternoon although the appointment was scheduled for between 9 a.m. and noon. He didn't arrive until 4:30 p.m. The good news is, after this horrific experience I decided to make myself an expert on toilet repair and after studying up on the subject I bought all the parts I need for $39.90 at Lowes and completed rebuilding the inside of both toilets which are working perfectly now no thanks to Service Plus Heating Cooling and Plumbing. Service Plus is a big service MINUS as far as I am concerned. Additionally, this is the second Big Deal I have purchased from you Angie and both have ended badly. I won't be buying anymore of those unless the service provider has a level of service standard that you enforce. Feel free to give me back my $49 for this disaster.

James arrived on time and quickly had both problems analyzed. After a trip for needed parts, he made the necessary repairs, which stopped the leak and opened the drain. His work was neat and he cleaned up after the jobs were done. James was very professional and mindful of our needs.

Everything went according to plan. Dean did an excellent job of getting the old tank out and the new one in. He carefully cleaned up after the job was done. We couldn't be more pleased by the great job done by Service Plus.

The replacing of the pipe went well.. it was what I was told would happen after the ground settled is when it all started to fall apart when I was told that they would come out and cut the clean out and fill in the low places, it all went south. I still have the clean out approximately 4 feet above ground and they only got part of the framing of the sidewalk removed. I had the line replaced in February and am still waiting on a call back and the job to be completed as promised.........

Purchased an Angies List Big Deal Coupon. Said they would show up at a particular window of time, but did not show. Had to call to ask where they were. They finally showed up hours after they said they would. Plumber was nice and professional; however, I was already mad they showed up late. Plumber provided quotes for three items, but I felt all were high. Had only one done.

What this other guy was telling me and quoting me was between $4,000 and $6,000 and having me have the whole new system. The second guy said no so I needed to pay 2 people and that was not good. I wasn't overquoted. I was told that I needed the services that I did not need. He told me that the freon was empty and when the second guy came he said no, it's not empty and he did fill it and it took like half. I guess the pricing was average because he didn't really do anything. It was just a check up more or less.

The kitchen sink project went well - work was done timely and efficiently, and the guy was nice and professional. I had previously asked the company to quote a different project - replacing water supply valves in the master bath, for a new fixture. I don't remember the quote, but it was astronomical - I think it was close to $1,000. I declined the work. But, I had already purchased the Angies List coupon - so I called them back for the kitchen sink project which, as stated above, went well.
