It was another wonderful experience and we couldn't be happier with the final product, it was just what we wanted. They just completed it all, and now we wait for the warm weather to get here! Many of our friends and family compliment the look of our backyard and I always tell them you can't go wrong with the quality of work you get from Mud Slingers Pool and Patio.
Thanks to Kim and his crew for yet another job well done!
"its unfortunate that it has come to this, the customer was very difficult in working with from the start & seemed to know more than everyone. they had their own project manger on the project which was not a employee of Mud Slingers, in fact turned out to be her son-in-law who knew nothing about construction. after repeated suggestions on the pool & concrete layout & location the homeowner is very old & didnt want the additional steps to go from the house porch to the therapy pool deck, they didnt want to take our advise so Mud Slingers had their project manager sign a waiver clause releasing Mud Slingers from liabilty which he was fine with, Mud Slingers did install oversized deck drains to complensate for the slope of the concrete that their project manger requested & signed off on. the homeowner was late on multiple payments from the very beginning & the final straw for Mud Slingers was when the homeowner wrote a back check for $25,000.00. when we stoped work on the project until the bas check issue was resolved was when the homeowner expressed the dislike of the concrete decking & was not going to pay anything at all. after several meeting with the homeowner & their project manager ther was a communication error between homeowner & their own project manager not Mud Slingers. Also their project manager admitted to getting on our freshly poured concrete while our workers were at lunch with a scrub brush & dawn soap to help the color wash process?? which he over heard the concrete crew talking about (which he misunderstood). Mud Slingers has files suit for the remainder of the contract & defimation of character with the homeowner, Since the law suit filed by Mud Slingers the homeowner has repeatedly slandered Mud Slingers & continuly bring in friends to get bad reports from anyone besides a non opinated party to strengthen there invalid arguement, the homeowner has also several Mud Slingers representatives who have tried to resolve the issue (even at no fault of our own) that "im used to being in court & have alot of time & money & this will not turn out good for Mud Slingers". After further digging from Mud Slingers Lawyer the homeowner has been in 11 law suits with 11 different contractors. this is the first time since 1999 since in business that Mud Slingers has ever been in litigation with a customer. In the mean time of all of this the homeowner has had a 100% fully functional swimming pool for 3 years that has been used & enjoyed dispite the over $30,000.00 stilled owed to Mud Slingers, in addition the homeowner has went as far as to add new landscaping including sod, shrubs, decorative stone, patio furniture. Mud Slingers is very hopefully we can get the concrete issue taken care of for both parties & move on to more positive things this season."
Next came the pre construction meeting. Kim and Brian came out and we told them exactly where we wanted our pool and finalized any changes we had. They told us the construction process of our pool would 3-5 weeks, and ours was completed in 3 weeks. The weather worked to our advantage! Kim came out and gave us a and quot;Pool Schooland quot;, which was great because I didn't know anything about running a pool. Again I had several questions and Kim was patient with me. This was a great summer to have a pool! It was extremely hot!
We have a lot of friends who have pools and just have regular concrete around their pool. Our stamped concrete is absolutely gorgeous! It sets our pool off! Several of our friends are wanting to tear our their boring regular concrete and go with the stamped concrete and we have recommended Mud Slingers to them. Mud Slingers just came to close our pool for us a couple weeks ago (which is part of the pool package... opening and closing of your pool!). We have however now moved over to roasting marshmallows on our fire pit they installed. Thanks for creating a great backyard for our family to enjoy time together.
There appeared to be no system to check details as the project progressed. The wrong liner was installed and the pool filled with water before owner realized the color was completely wrong. Was given 3 options- leave and be given a $1000 discount, leave until end of season then replace or have correct installed- which included having pool left for approx 2 weeks with no chemicals, drained and refilled. Went with 3rd option- in which we were told they were losing the cost of the water change. The first liner was not smooth and had several areas that looked unfinished. Sub contractor stated they didn't worry because didn't think we would keep- one reason we didn't want to wait until end of season to change if it wasn't installed correctly.
Wrong slide was ordered- we had drawn out entire pool area- including way slide was to face in terms of seeing the curve of the slide from the front of pool and not looking at the back of the stairs. During installation of and quot;wrong slideand quot; also realized the concrete area would only leave 3-4 inches for someone to stand on concrete before the stairs. Stopped them from installing and had to have more concrete area poured at an additional cost of another pour which could of been avoided if they had measured area needed around slide for people standing.
The wrong auto cover was delivered and sat for at least a week without being opened and checked until it was ready for install. Had to be returned and new ordered.
Was told after these problems they were losing money on our project and needed to get it wrapped up. Spoke our frustrations on the mistakes and suggested they add a punch list or go over specifics in more detail. Ask where the autocover control should be placed by the homeowner etc. The owner got very upset refused to talk to me and let his partner handle most contact from this point. Was not our fault they were losing money on project- mistakes cost to fix.
Was told the pool would be opened, closed and opened the next year. Was then told to go to a pool store with water sample to ask how much salt etc to be put in that they didn't have equipment to read. Just assumed opening included the pool being swim ready- chemicals, cleaning materials etc. ready for the customer that was spending over $45000. After complaining they did pick up bags of salt to get up and running. After a week of pool being opened delivered vacuum with too short of hose. Part of initial sale was owner stated they would be available for chemical delivery and take care of everything. Now have been charged for chemicals to close the pool. Would ask for more specifics and get in writing on terms of opening, closing and labor.
Would also suggest more specific wording in contract for yard repair. Was told by owner would get it back in good shape, smooth out ruts, seed and get yard going. Did a very rough grade, broke sprinkler heads in two spots and said they wouldn't repair.
We were happy with the end product- but too many frustrations that could of been avoided. There was no official Pool School, no hand outs on how to care for our pool, manuals etc not organized, but left outside for us to find. Larger company with more organization would of made process easier and more professional experience.
"First off we would like to thank the homeowner for the opportunity to work on there project & furthermore thank them for the review, all feed back is essential in adaptation in the ever changing construction industry to better serve our customers. Although it is unfortunate that the homeowner feels unsatisfied with our work, granted we did have a couple hiccup's on this project but at no fault of Mud Slingers but of a couple supplier mix up's due to the fact there were several projects going simultaneously all in same housing addition. We have also updated all of our contracts/ information packets & have went above and beyond for all current & future customers to fully explain all included & excluded ammenities & construction process to avoid any confusion or misunderstandings. However all issues on this project were corrected at no additional cost to homeowner & the project was completed in a timely fashion & end result was a beautiful fully completed pool & patio."
