+ -1 moreThe pipes were replaced as expected. Well done. But the plumber was over 1 hour late from the promised arrival window because he had an emergency call the night before. Well why not send another plumber so that I am not wasting the entire morning waiting? If they say he will arrive between 8AM & 10AM, then please fulfill the promised time. Send another plumber if there is an emergency call. But this is not the first time a plumbing company has done that. Seems everytime I set an appointment 2 weeks in advance there's always an emergency call on the day of my appointment.
Description of Work: Replace pipes on the outside of the house and replace pipes leading to the bathroom toilets.

+ 0 moreOur sewage was stopping up in basement and slow to drain. Mr. Rooter was quick to schedule an appointment. Bob was sent out and punctual on a Saturday morning (~12 hours after calling - it wasn't an emergency, but we were anxious to solve the problem). Bob looked at the problem, showed a printed chart of what service we needed and how much it would cost. They were more expensive than a service we previously used but the same price after the Angie's list coupon ($119 for $200 of service). Bob was very nice and efficient. He tested the lines and cleaned up afterwards. We would use them again.

They performed well and everything we asked them to do was delivered well. They went above and beyond and they were courteous and polite and they did what they said they would do and it was definitely worth the money. We were pleased with the results.

+ 1 morePlumber arrived after hours during storms. I had sewage backing up into my basement at an alarming rate. I called and they had sent Travis, who arrived very quickly. There was sewage on my basement floor but he had no problem getting in there to see what the problem was. After some looking around, Travis went outside and found that the City sewage line was backing up from the storms, and it had made it's way into my house. At that point, there was nothing he could do to stop it. As Travis advised, once the city line cleared up, the back-flow stopped. I did not get charged for him showing up after hours, which was a great relief since I am going to have to pay for all this out of my own pocket. Travis recommended a back-flow prevention system, and I am having him out this week to get me a quote on that. Travis was very honest and didn't make up any extra services or try and milk money out of me. I appreciate his time spent at my house without charge (about an hour). Because of his honesty and professionalism, I am now considering using him for a much higher-priced (but needed) service. This is how business should be earned.

+ -1 morex som eBought the $99 for two hours AL deal. Unfortunately, this company does not price their services in "hours" so the deal was hard to convert to the real world. I realize most plumbers now do this - not satisfied with $80 an hour. Two plumbers - both very nice and very competent - showed up (not sure why since a lot of plumbing jobs are one may deals since only one person can fit under the sink, etc.). They did assess my list (I thought I was getting two hours so I had three small/medium items on a list) and offered full price and the "member price" (typical upsell for plumbers, HVAC, etc these days). The pricing seemed very high ($250 plus to install a kitchen faucet supplied by me) but I received one item ($250-$300 range) for my $99 two hour coupon so I guess I got a 50% plus discount. Bottom, I suspect this company is no worse, price-wise, than the other big companies. The work was of good quality. The guys were professional, wore booties, cleaned up after themselves.
Description of Work: Bought the $99 for two hours AL deal. They fixed shut off valves and supply lines to a bathroom sink and installed a faucet (that I supplied).

+ -1 moreThe plumber arrived on time and even smelled good! He installed a new toilet and explained why I had been having problems. He saved a new arm that I had puchased and a new toilet seat I had bought, totally cleaned up after himself and then went on to look at every plumbing installation in the house and make sure that they were all functioning properly.
Description of Work: Mr. Rooter's plumber installed a new toilet for me and also explained why I was having trouble with all three toilets installed in my house. He did a beautiful, quick job and even kept my house clean. Couldn't ask for more!

+ -1 moreMr. Rooter saved my life. I'm facing an inspection ahead of company relocation and I couldn't figure out who to call to solve this problem, after trying several other companies. Mr. Rooter came out one day after they were called, then started work the next working day. They worked until it was done, over two days, tested and only left when everything was completely satisfactory. They educated me and kept me informed every step of the way. I cannot speak more highly of this company.
Description of Work: This Mr. Rooter is great. I had huge drainage issues; another company identified a big one and fixed it well, but they didn't do interior plumbing and I still had problems. Mr. Rooter did a huge job in my house and resolved, completely, a problem that I had had for months and had three other companies out to fix with no success. Thank you Carl and Travis, so much.

Description of Work: The plumber showed up and was not aware that I had an Angie's list big deal to use for my services. He seemed a bit put out as he was not informed by the front office. Another plumber showed up and I heard them both whispering about the big deals being money losers. The work I wanted done was completed in the time allotted and I am satisfied with the quality of the work. The side comments were not very professional and not necessary in the customer's home.

+ 0 moreI called in the morning and they said they would have someone out between 2-4. Their office called me around 1:30 to inform me that Robert would be at my house in 30 minutes. This was quite a suprise to me. Normally when I get a window of time from a service company I get a call at the end of the window stating they are running late (which eats up more of my day). It was very refreshing to have a service company call at the beginning of the window and then show up on time! Robert came in, looked at the old water heater and gave me two different pricing options (one including a new valve). I went with option number two (new valve as well) and he got to work. He removed the old unit and got the new unit installed in no time. He even hauled away the old water heater! Outstanding, professional, service with no snags at all. I will not think twice about calling them again. Thanks Robert and thank you Mr. Rooter!

I called for an appointment a few days after I bought it and was able to get an appointment right away. The technician came on time and seemed very knowledgeable. One toilet needed a new seal and the other was actually fine. The tech was there maybe 45 minutes. So I was happy my problems were resolved but I definitely didn't get good value from my deal. I simply didn't have a good idea of what was wrong and how long it would take to fix. Oh well!

They were able to send someone out the day after I called to make an appointment, which in itself is pretty great service. The plumber they sent was professional and very easy to work with. I was a little worried about possible add-ons and upcharges for the Angie's List deal (parts not included, etc.), but the wax seal and copper fittings he used to complete the job only added $15 to the total price. I wasn't watching the clock too closely, but I think he was actually here a little longer than the 2 hours I paid for, so I definitely got my money's worth out of the deal. I would very happily use Mr. Rooter again in the future for plumbing work.
Description of Work: As part of a remodeling project, I had a toilet to be reinstalled, and a new tub faucet to be roughed in.

Description of Work: Purchased 2 hours of plumbing service from Angies List deal. Plumber that arrived was more interested in selling us their "service plan" which was prohibitively expensive. Then, when he priced the work that we wanted done in the two hours, it was considerably more than the "deal price", and he pointed out repeatedly how the "service plan" would save money. Finally he agreed to do the work we wanted for the $99 deal price. This consisted of replacing a shut-off valve in the basement and "rebuilding" a bathroom faucet. The shut-off replacement was fine, but the "rebuild" of the faucet only temporarily solved the because he only fixed the hot side of the faucet and both needed to be fixed.

They are will to come back to do the rest of the work if we decide on it. He was friendly and personable, he explained everything very well. They also have a senior discount.
Description of Work: I used their services for a drainage problem in the kitchen sink. They checked the bath tub and shower head. Suggested we get a new shower head and will need some drainage work done in the bathroom. They opened a clog in the drainage area of our washer and suggested we have a new bathroom sink faucet. We will also need a new toilet installed.

Where the better option may have been to fully replace out sump pump system, the cost for them to install the system was far too expensive at this time. We ended up just getting a minor repair at this time. The service was great!

Description of Work: I purchased an Angies Big Deal for 2 hours of plumbing service from Mr Rooter. I wanted to have an outdoor faucet installed. I had one installed last January by an Angie A rated company and my cost was $270. The plumber arrived and looked at the scope of work, saw no problem and went to his truck to get pricing. I was completely floored when he came in with an estimate for $411 ($649 minus $238 for the Angies list deal I had purchased). I told the tech, this could not possibly be correct and showed him the work I had done in January for $270. He acknowledged that they would be using the same faucet and that the estimate was correctly priced. I looked at the breakdown of the pricing and they were chargin me $267 for the faucet alone. The two other faucets I have purchased with installation from a plumber were about $90 each for the material. Lowes appears to sell this same faucet for $36. I declined to have the work done and expressed great displeasure with the pricing. The only conclusion I can reach from this experience is that Mr Rooter used Angies List Big Deal to get the opportunity to present me with highly inflated and predatory pricing. If I had not had recent experience with a very similar install, I might well have agreed to the $411 as presented. I will, henceforth, be highly skeptical of any service pricing I receive regardless of the Angie Rating.

Unfortunately, after the service provider left we discovered the drain was not totally unclogged. Upon informing the company of the problem, the service provider returned to our home (8/25/2012) and fixed the problem. We would certainly use this company again due to their professionalism and problem-solving abilities.

+ -1 moreI'd put together a laundry list of simple plumbing projects I'd wanted done. Replacing the outside garden hose faucet was going to be more of a project than I'd expected so I skipped that one. Otherwise, it was great! Only complaint was a misunderstanding about scheduling the work: I'd thought that he would be there from 3 - 5pm, that is, arrive at 3pm and work until 5pm. Instead, they intended that he was going to arrive sometime in that window of time. He actually got there at 5:40pm and stayed into the evening, which was awkward because I had company coming over for dinner. It would have been better to just reschedule him for another day when the clock started creeping after 5pm.
Description of Work: I bought a Big Deal from Angie's List for $99, which was two hours of work and the service call. The gentleman who came out was very knowledgeable and professional.

+ -1 moreThe Mr Rooter service person arrived about noon and did an assessment of what needed to be done and what materials would be required. He then left to procure the parts and returned about an hour and a half later. He was very courteous in explaining what he planned to do and asked if it was to my satisfaction. He worked diligently for a few hours and called on me several times to make sure what he was doing was what I wanted. He was very professional and quite knowledgable concerning gas piping. I would highly recommend Mr Roter for this type of sevice.
Description of Work: Our house has five gas appliances which were added at various times over the past 30 years. (Furnace, water heater, range, fire place and grill). The gas piping for the various appliances was a hodge podge and took up lots of extra space in my basement. Mr Rooter removed the old gas piping and installed new flex piping in a more organized and space efficient manner.

+ 1 moreThe responsiveness of this company was great. The lady who answered the phone in the office (Taylor) was very courteous and helpful. She made sure that I got a plumber at my house right away. Steve the plumber was very prompt and wore shoe covers in my house to make sure he didn't track in any dirt. He got to work right away, found the problem and fixed it. He kept me informed throughout the process and was very pleasant and courteous to work with. I would definitely use this company again and would recommend them highly to someone else.
Description of Work: I called Mr. Rooter because I was experiencing a problem with a toilet overflowing for no reason. Water was not draining properly from my washing machine and caused a big mess all over my floors. Within 2 hours of my call, the plumber (Steve) was at my door to help. He troubleshooted the problem and found that the problem was in my septic tank. The main drain pipe from the house was completely clogged and was causing all wastewater to backup and overflow in the house. Steve went right to work and cleared the pipe of debris. When he was done, everything was flowing properly once again.
