Mr Plumber by Metzler & Hallam

It was great. Sunday morning I found out my hot water heater was leaking, they had someone who was doing weekend duty, he called me and told me when he would be at my house. He had a hot water heater on his truck and so he was able to fix mine right away which was great because I needed to get it cleared up as soon as possible.

The guy was very nice. HE TOLD ME ABOUT THE COUPON in the paper that I didn't know about. He was very knowledgeable and professional.

My water heater went out on Friday during a weekend that I was expecting company. They were very responsive and showed up promptly the next day.

It was great because the plumber that came was very informative. He did not do anything without checking with me first. They called the day before to say they needed to change the time, which was not an issue. They called the day they came to let me know they were on their way. I like them and they're my favorite.

He came out for five minutes and told us he couldn't unclog it, we'd have to buy a new toilet. My mother didn't like the fact that he quickly looked at the toilet and wouldn't even try to fix it.

They were responsive to our problem which occurred on a weekend and fixed the problem promptly.

I liked that their supervisor came out to give some helpful hints. They were really nice telling me what I should and should not do to help prevent this problem in the future. They were willing to work with me on the kind of sump pump I wanted to put in. When other companies were not willing to help, they were very helpful. I feel part of the charge was unnecessary, but everything else they did a very good job. They could not give adequate advise about a battery powered sump pump vs other types of pump as to a solution to my crawl space problem.

It went well. They were on time when coming out. They told me a head of time what the rate would be. They cleaned up well when they were done doing the work. This was the first time I had used this company.

It was late Saturday night and my washer would not stop running. He came over and turned the water off because even though it was unplugged the water kept flowing in.

I made frantic call to RV Hallum to come and fix it. They came quickly and took care of the problem quickly at 5;00 on a Saturday. Did it cost more than usual, probably. Was it worth every dime? Absolutely. Lesson learned "don't listen to father in laws"

At the time I was a bit desperate, and was really relieved they were able to come out. I appreciated the advice Craig gave me, as I'm new to these sorts of problems. I would have preferred less of a charge -I know it's expensive to get emergency service, and that part of the charge ($145) was understandable, but given that the actual problem really didn't require any pipe work, I was a little disappointed at the additional $90 for the "diagnosis." The 10% discount, while appreciated, didn't really offset my disappointment at the charge. That said, the company was extremely professional and fast responding, and I would call them again, definitely for non-emergent jobs, and possibly again in an emergency situation.

They were contentious, on time, gave me a call ahead. Very professional.

We began using this company when Paul's father had it, and now the son runs it. They have always been prompt, nice and dependable. When he was fixing the pump, he knew what it was right away, and it took only fifteen minutes to fix it.

We were very pleased with the service and with our technician Brandon. He was very professional, respectful and quick. We would definitely use Metzler Plumbing again and would recommend this company to our friends and family. Thank you for a job well done!

The floor drain in the basement kept backing up and I called Metzler's. They were quick to respond to my call and were here within a couple hours. They do a wonderful job of cleaning up, also.

Rick Horton, came out originally and gave me a full service inspection for my pump and he was dynamic. He advised and educated and pleasantly offered the information I needed. I liked him a lot. He had a good spirit and was very professional. He wasn't pushy but rather supportive. I hired this company due to Mr. Horton. The service tech, Chris, did the installation today and he too was very pleasant and answered all of my questions. He explained how things operated and I liked his spirit as well. I'm very happy with them.

It went very well. They sold me the sinks, but they did not pressure me to buy something that I did not want. They had a very trustworthy feel to the company. They told me the options available. They listened to me like I was an individual and not just a paycheck.

See above. I was impressed with how nice and professional the plumber was, and I didn't have to wait long to get an appointment.

It went terribly. They were to be here around noon and they were to call before they came. At two thirty we called them they said they would be here shortly and they did not get here until around four. They were suppose to unclog the sink and put in a dishwasher, but the price they were going to charge to do this was very high. When the man did come late he then told us he might not have time to put the dishwasher in. So with these two factors we choose not to do the dishwasher. He was also suppose to change the water filter under the sink for us, when attempting to do this he broke the system. The made an appointment to come replace the broken system so I stayed home from work. They were to come at eight thirty and again call before they came. They never called and they never came. So now I am stuck with a broken filtering system and they never did try to get a hold of me and if the did get a hold of me now I would not want them to come back due to their lack of service.

The service is very good. They come when they said they will. I would recommend them to others.

Wife noticed that there was a humming sound coming from somewhere in the house. Tracked it down to the basement utility room where the sewage lift pump was making the sound. Turned it on and off to observe the results. It continued to hum so unplugged and called Hallam. They had previously replaced the head on a outdoor farm type faucet. They under estimated the time to replace but stuck to their quoted price. As a result called them back for some minor work to help make up for the loss on the first job. I like Hallam's approach to business. They have a standard price for each type of service. Those of us that live in better than average homes usually get gouged by the trades. They think that because you have a nice home you will pay over market. I resist this and think that it is not ethical. The plumber did a good job. Thankfully the lift pump had done it's job just before the malfunction so there was no sewage to work around. Both the plumber and I were thankful for that. I think the plumber was more thankful. He did a good job and was in and out with a minimum of disruption.

I recently had granite countertops installed. I had faucets, strainers, disposal hardware and pcv all ready to be installed. I even bought and had plumbers thread available. When plumber showed up on 6/18/08 he quoted the job to my daughter at $828.00. Plumber called me out of a meeting, explained that he bid the job on the standard flat rate, not how many hours it would take, and that $828.00 was at a $6 discount from standard rates. I was flabbergasted, but asked him how long the job would take. He said that he thought it would take about 4 hours. When I was about to tell him to forget it, he went on to tell me that this is how it is with all of the plumbers now, they quote you on a "standard" job and he would finish it that day yet. I made the mistake of telling him to go forward, thinking I had few options, as we had already been without water for four days waiting for them to fit us into their schedule. He walked out the door 2 hours and 20 minutes after he walked in the door with our check for $828. I called the Company on Thursday and asked to speak to someone who could explain to me that paying a plumber $400/hour makes sense. I spoke with Scott Metzler who informed that Larry Metzler took care of those things, and that I needed to speak with him. I left Larry a message. He called me back the next day and said that he needed to meet with the plumber to get the story. He just called back and told me he spoke with the plumber and that he thought the rates were fair, but that he would give me a $75 refund. I told him that was only about 20% of what I thought it should be, and that he should keep it. He insisted that the flat rate pricing is fair to his customers. He didn't seem to understand how I thought paying $828 for two hours of work might be fair to his company, and it might even out with all of their work, but that it sure wasn't fair to me. I eventually gave up as he plainly could not see my point. I pretty well never complain about anything. This, however, has gotten my goat as they say. I cannot recommend this company to any of my friends or business associates. In fact, just the opposite. Oh, and we noticed last night that the butler pantry sink was leaking on the floor underneath the sink.

Called Hallam because I've used them previously. I had let several problems pile up before I finally decided to have all the work done. The clogged drain in the bathroom had become a real problem since the sink would fill up quite a bit but would drain extremely slowly. The drain had clogged up annually (in the spring) the first two years I lived here (2002, 2003) but had not been a problem since. Quite a bit of work was done to open the drain - including disassembling the pipes and using an electric snake through the line. He explained why some of the older plumbing clogs (old iron pipes rather than PVC slick pipes) and recommended a product that I'm still thinking about. While the other work was being done, I purchased a new faucet for the bathroom because the old one was leaking again, obviously old and in need of being replaced. He did a great job guiding me through my purchase over the cell phone while I was shopping for one. The kitchen faucet was leaking or at times running a narrow stream if someone didn't shut it off exactly a "special way" each time used - and I couldn't follow family and guests around to remind them each time. The faucet is fine. Last of all, when I moved in six years ago, I had my outdoor faucets replaced with something called "frost-free" since I had a crawl space, and I made the mistake of forgetting to remove a hose one fall. The faucet did what it was supposed to do and popped rather than allowing my water line to do so. It needed to be repaired, and that work was done. All four areas of replacement/repair have worked fine since the May 1, 2008 work.

They actually came out right when we called them which was good because we had water going everywhere. I would recommend them and use them again in the future.

It ended up being a little more expensive than I thought it would be. They have always been very good. If they say they are going to be here at a certain time they are. I appreciate that they wear booties on their shoes when they come in so they don't get my floors dirty.
