Mr Plumber by Metzler & Hallam

I've used him for years. They have a deal, where they come out and inspect all your plumbing. After they do the inspection, you are put in the list, so if you have an emergency you are put on top of the list, and they give you a discount. It has really worked well for me.

He came out and told us we needed a new water heater. He then went out and got the water heater and installed it that same day. I ended up signing a service contract with them because I liked them so much.

Handle broke on Sunday. Home improvement store had parts presumed to work but given age unsure. Opted to check in with plumber. Called Monday morning, scheduled for Monday after 3:00 PM. Then H V Hallam called back and moved appointment up. Arrived as scheduled, assessed problem, determined it was indeed minor. Was able to use parts we had purchased to make repair. Given minimal repair, offered a service contract in lieu of charge for entire service call. Also as requested offered advice on leaking kitchen faucet and on replacement of fixtures throughout house.

They are very good. They come right away. They are always very prompt and throughou, and do a great job.

I believe you get what you pay for...Excellent - good professional service I would use them again

I requested service for my gas water heater that was under warranty online the previous night and received a call from the dispatcher the next morning. The dispatcher was not sure how soon she could get a service tech to come out and give me an estimate because they were booked for the day but said that no hot water would be considered an emergency service call and would do what she could to get someone out right away. I called another plumber on the list and was told the same so I told both companies that who ever showed up first most likely would get the job. I was pleased that they were able to get a service tech to my house around 9:15am due to a cancellation that was scheduled. I was not home but my wife said that the service tech was very knowledgable and professional. I talked with the service tech about the cost $569 for labor and parts wich I thought was extremely high for 2 hours of labor. According to costhelper.com should have been $200-$400. The service tech said that that would be the going rate for any licensed plumber so I took him for his word and gave consent for the job. He left the invoice but it was not itemized and I feel like I may have been overcharged based on my situation, although the service tech did recommend cheaper alternatives I needed it replaced immediately.

Job was completed efficiently and without additional charge.

They came right over on a Saturday. Discovered the problem (which is pretty big, we wouldn't be able to used water in our house until fixed...) We called a septic company to come out to drain pit, Chris Davis from Metzlers worked hard to find us a good replacement option as we had a lesser-known brand, got it fixed, and we were all set. We were to get a $100 "rebate" as we're Angie's List members, that took 2 phone calls to get. I asked at that time to have the name of the company where they got our replacement pit as we wanted to get our old one reconditioned to have as a back-up. I called the company and left messages for Mike on 3 different dates. I waited nearly 2 months and called again. They took my information again, and then was called back by Cindy. Cindy said it was "impossible" to know where it was from. I know the worker who did the work would know, as he was the one who drove to get it and seemed familiar with the part, and she said she could not call him to get the information. She was very rude. I stated that I felt like they were trying not to give me the information, I have since learned that we paid a bit too much for the part (Metzlers had an up-charge...the receipt given to me was NOT detailed), but we had no choice as we needed to live in our house with water! I feel that they are purposely withholding and are not doing enough to try to find this name for me. I had a very expensive service call for their company...and am I not still a client as well?! I will NOT use this company again.

Company was recommended by previous owners of house. They always arrive exactly when they say they will, within a two hour window, and do fast response. Plumbers do good work, check their work and give good advice -- not necessarily upselling, either! They always give good value. Their service agreement is well worth it; we got it on the second service call and it paid for itself on the third. We're now working with them on a number of other possible services.

They were very good and very efficient. They told us before they started about how much it would cost and they replaced it on the very same day.

Overall experience was great. Plumber was punctual for both the estimate appointment and the appointment to fix the problem. The office called to let me know the plumber would be later than expected for the second appointment as he had to help another plumber with an emergency. Hallam worked with me on pricing and discussed various ways to fix the problems. We started with simple solutions and worked toward more complex (and expensive) solutions. Fortunately the problems were fixed simply and quickly. Plumber was very professional, friendly and courteous. I would definitely use this company again.

Dustin was the service provider sent over by the company and he explained what needed to be done in detail. He also made some recommendations as to what could be done to prevent the issue from occurring again in the future. The work was done with attention to detail and the area left clean once the work was completed. He completed the work in the amount of time he had quoted that the job would take. The company also made accommodations to fit my job into their schedule due to my inconvenience of not having hot water and family arriving at our home within a few days.

They were very responsive and professional. Came out the same morning and took about an hour to run snake through the drain. We were able to take advantage of their 10% coupon.

It went well. Mark, the plumber was very nice and explained everything, including the price. The receptionist was excellent in contacting me prior to Mark's arrival as well as Mark gave me a call when he was 30 minutes away. I have used this company before and was very pleased.

LOUSY JOB!! They lied about cost of labor and parts - I didn't find out till they handed me the bill. They didn't get theparts I asked for but insisted that's what I asked for and wouldn't change them. They did a lousy job installing and one has already broken (in about 2 months). They charged me 900.00 just for the labor of adding 2 shower handles with hoses and shower heads onto my existing shower heads - which only involves adding on with "elbow" attachment. I had this done in previous houses for about 250 dollars total by other companies. I had also bought contract with them for priority emergency service - but when a pipe froze and burst they were very rude and told me they had to do routine appts first and would get to me when theycould. I had to find someone else to come to fix it! Terrible work, outrageous pricing.

They are very knowledgeable and do an annual inspection of all of the plumbing in my house.

I ended up with a gas leak. They installed the water heater in the morning, and in the evening I came home to the gas leak. The plumber that came in the evening was resistant to come out, and told me that it was normal for there to be a "gas smell" after the installation, but he later confirmed it was indeed a gas leak. I was also disappointed with their billing methods, because they do not itemize their bills and break down what the prices were for the unit or labor. I don't think I will use this company again.

My water heater broke over the weekend while I was away. I arrived to find my house flooded. The hot water heater shut off valve was seized/frozen, so I ended up shutting all the water down to my house. I called Metzler's Mr. Plumber to come fix the seized/frozen shut off valve and give me an estimate for a new water heater. Metzler's gave a 2 hour window for the arrival of their repairman on Monday morning. The repairman arrived 45 minutes after the 2 hour window for service had ended. After taking 20 seconds to look at my hot water heater, the repairman gave me an estimate for $1,450 for a 6 year water heater (when you purchased their $99 service contract). I said that I thought I would get some more estimates, so would he just fix the shut off valve so at least I would have water in my house. He refused to fit the shut off valve and said I owed him $79 dollars. I told him I had gotten Metzler's from Angie's List and Metzler's was supposed to provide a free estimate and a free service call valued at $79 when a repair was done. He refused to do the repair and then again requested the $79. I had a witness from the water remediation company hired by my insurance company there in my house at the time who heard and saw the whole thing. I again reiterated that I was a member of Angie's List, so I was supposed to get free estimates and free service call valued at $79 with a repair and he said "It cost you $79 when I stepped in your door." I tried to work with Metzler's Mr. Plumber to get my money back or get a service person out to fix the shut off valve and the end result was they tried to send a plumber out to my house when I was working. I had talked to Larry, explained what had happened to him, he said he wanted to fix the situation and could he send a plumber out, I told him I worked downtown until 5:30 p.m. and that I wouldn't be home until 6:30 p.m., Larry said he would see what he could do, and the next thing I know they are trying to send a plumber out to my house at 4:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. I talked to the dispatcher and told her that I couldn't be there and that I had told Larry that 6:30 p.m. was the earliest I could be there and the dispatcher agreed to call the plumber and tell him not to go to my house. Then 10 minutes later the plumber calls me and he is 5 minutes from my house. I go through the story again with the plumber and he says why did they send me out here when they knew you were working! I've waited since March 2, 2009 to file this report in the hopes that Metzler's would return my $79, but having failed to do so I felt that other Angie's List members needed to know what this company was doing. Generally a very bad experience and I would never recommend Metzler's to anyone!

The inspection went very well. Mr. Scott Lee the plumber who came and conducted the inspection was very knowledgable and answered any question about his procedures. He also gave us an estimate on changing some pipes in the basement to come up to code.

He went out of his way to find the right parts because we had an odd size of copper pipe. Once he found it, the repair took maybe 15 minutes. Very fast.

Super service. Well trained, expertise demonstrated.

The gentleman that came out was prompt, very helpful, and I would use them again.

Their pricing was outrageous. I was able to get a new part and have a different plumbing company for MUCH less. They told us it would be $300+ for them to install a couple parts.

I used the online scheduler feature to tell them what I needed and what kind of waterheater I wanted. It took some time for them to call me back ,2 hours. ( Not a fan of the online scheduler) . Once OI talked to the office appointment was made and the plumbers arrived in the window they had been promised. The plumbers were professional and knowledgeable. I had serveral questions about the water heater and installation that they were able to answer with no hesitation and even answered most before I asked. The new installion was better then on the previous water heater , which was done by another company.
