+ 0 moreThey came on time at 9:00 am with all the equipment needed. At times there were 3 people working and sometimes 2, but they stayed until 8:00 pm until the whole job was finished. They built up the flooring under the tub since it was uneven. That took extra work, but didn't charge extra. The tub and wall unit are beautiful and we are very pleased.
Description of Work: Tore out old tub and tile walls surrounding tub. Installed new tub with walls. Reworked plumbing to have one mixer valve instead of separate hot and cold spigots. Installed new shower head and all related plumbing.

+ -1 moreI was cooking with my niece and she threw an end of a onion, including peel into the garbage disposal. Shortly after that water began backing up in the sink. I tried to DIY but couldn't get the water to drain. I called R. V. Hallum on Friday and they came out on Monday. Dustin was very helpful and professional. He took apart the trap, removed the onion and cleaned up after himself. The prices were much better then what I have been charged in the past by other plumbers.

They have been able to take care of all of the problems that they come out for. Brandon, the gentleman who came out did a good job with the work and I will be calling him back again.

water heater repair
+ -1 moreI had a minor leak under the sink, which I should have fixed myself, but I had a lot of other things going on at the time. He was here for 30 minutes and the bill was $500 and that was my major complaint with them. I don?t think I would use them again.

+ -1 moreThe garbage disposal stopped working after I put carrot peels down the drain. We called R.V. Hallam, the lady who answered tried to get the plumber out that day, it was already about 1400. She was unable to get anyone out at that time. She gave us an appointment for the next day, 8-28-09 between 8AM and Noon. The gentleman called at 8 AM to ask for directions and to say he would be there in 30 minutes. He came, fixed the problem in no time and was on his way. He was prompt, courteous and efficient. He knew exactly what the problem was and had all the equipment needed for the repair. He told us the cost up front and we were able to use the $25.00 coupon from the Angies List book for August. We were pleased with the service and would use Hallam again.

+ -1 moreThey gave me a time from noon to 2. I got there at noon and called to make sure they had my cell phone number because I wasn?t at home. The office was closed and I called back at 12:30 and to remind them I was there and give them my cell. I spoke with the tech he said it won?t mean much because I don?t have all the equipment. He needed a camera to run down the line. He knew what he was coming for and should have had the equipment with him. I told him not to come since he didn?t have the correct equipment and they wasted my time. He was going to charge me $213 just for the estimate. I wasn't told that in advance.

Description of Work: Sometime last spring the Williams Comfort Air Furnace/AC man convinced me that their new cohort Mr. Plumber was a good deal. For a membership fee they would conduct an annual plumbing survey of my home, including maintenance on our water heater and water conditioning systems. There would be a “24 hour emergency service”, no charge for a service call, and a 15% discount on all plumbing jobs. The survey was carried out earlier this year. Servicing the water heater involved opening the drain for a period of time, he explained that he did not want to leave it open too long because it would waste water. All of the internal faucets and toilets were checked. He labeled a number of valves, most of which were clearly associated with an appliance. Outside faucets were not checked and he explained that he did not have the filters and other fittings to help with the water softener and reverse osmosis systems. My “survey” was pretty much a bust. In early August I called and told Mr Plumber that my Instant hot water dispenser was leaking and needed to be replaced. I asked for a price on this and I was told that it must be inspected. A plumber came out on August 14 and quoted me a price of $788 to replace the Hot Water Dispenser. I had previously price the unit on the internet for $180. He told me that he would install a unit for $203. I told him that this was “ridiculous” and declined the service. I have since obtained a new unit and in 15 minutes installed it myself. The plumbers visit to confirm the need for a new unit was $68. This experience has probably cured me on Maintenance Agreements. The agreement allowed the plumber to inflate the price of the replacement unit and his labor charge. The experience has left me poorer but wiser. CAIRfree Maintenance is a rip-off.

sewer cleaning
+ -1 moreWe really like Metzler Plumbing. I believe their prices are a touch high, but one gets what one pays for - we've used them 3 or 4 times & I believe their work is excellent. We had a sewer back up in January, and they unclogged it then but with difficulty. They strongly suggested they come back in the spring with a camera to see what the problem was. Found a connection from the house line to the sewer by the road that was not done properly 10 years ago, allowing roots to grow into it and clog it. They subcontract the outdoor work to McDougall Contracting, Inc. who came out & dug up the sidewalk and dug down 12 feet to the sewer connection. They returned the next day and filled and re-did 3 sidewalk squares (one was thrown in because it was tilted a little due to root growth, but they stayed within the original estimate), then came back one day later to remove forms. They assured me they didn't have to wait for the ground to settle before laying the sidewalk, that they use a soil that compacts extremely well when filling, and the sidewalk is guaranteed for life. Other neighbors have had similar repairs but have waited over a month for the sidewalk to be rebuilt. These guys were fantastic.

They were very rude on the phone and they did not care.

water heater repair

They charge for second man because you need to have two men carry the old water heater from the basement and bring the new one in. They didn't tell me about this extra charge. They arrived pretty close to the estimated arrival time. It take around 4.5 hours. They had sent the wrong water heater and had to find the correct one.

At the correct time the Tech called in advance and then showed up as scheduled. Rick was the service tech and he was prompt and especially careful to put on foot protectors and use drop cloths where he worked. He was finished quickly and went over the bill. It was as quoted. I used an Angie?s List coupon and got a discount. Great service & great value. Better than most other service experiences.
Description of Work: We needed a minor service on an outside faucet and a second minor repair. They repaired the outside faucet and fixed the PCV pipe.
