He reviewed the current state of our plumbing, offered alternatives, and then did the work on the items we selected to be done at this time. He was very professional, worked steadily and did quality work, even correcting several things that obvioulsy were not done to code.
Description of Work: Installed Freije Easy Water de-scaler system and performed multiple other plumbing services (repaired drain lines, faucets, toilet repairs, outside spigot replaced, etc.) in a newly purchased home.

 + 0 moreI was happy with their work. I thought the price was reasonable. I like that they didn?t have to dig up my yard for this particular technique. They got this done in a timely fashion. It seems as though they did a good job, we haven?t had any problems so far. I thought Chris, Chad, Jason and Matt did good work.
Description of Work: They replaced the entire sewer line from the house to the street using a technique called “pipe bursting” where they pull a new line through the old line. We used a coupon where for $93 they freed up a clog in our old line and put a camera down the line to figure out what the problem was.

gas leak repair
 + -1 moreMetzler's was not here when they stated they would be. The gentleman who came out did not check for the leak and went to his truck and came back with an estimate to have something fixed that did not need to be. The company that came out for our second opinion was here about an hour and was able to determine there was no gas leak.
Description of Work: They came out to check for a leak in a line. They did not do this. They recommended that we put in new lines at an expense of $1760.00. We opted to have a second opionion and found that there was no leak, the gas company was in error. The gas company turned on the lines and everything was working as expected.

 + -1 moreThe plumber came out and replaced the aerator. We had an Angie's List coupon for a free ($79) service call, and the plumber was in our home for approximately 15 minutes. The charge was $129. We have had Metzler Plumbing for all plumbing repairs, installation of garbage disposal, new shower head, etc. for the last several years. Our last call was to Metzler Plumbing (before the merger with Williams Comfort Air) was approximately 1-1/2 years ago, for a leaky toilet (which took longer to repair) and the charge was $89 (also with an Angie's List coupon). We were amazed at the increase in price. The plumber did a good job -- we didn't have any problem with that, just that the price had increased so dramatically.
Description of Work: The kitchen faucet had slowed to a dribble.

 + -1 moreThe plumber was actually early, very polite, explained everything. He gave a bit of a break since I had 2 repairs for him, and also let me use the Angie's list coupon. Very professional. I have used Hallam before, and have been happy with their service and warranties.
Description of Work: Roman Bath Tub had faucet that was dripping. Something was caught in the seal. Powder room toilet would periodically refill on it's own...flapper was leaking.

 + -1 moreThey do a great job. When Mark installed the faucet something went wrong with how it went back and forth from hot and cold, so they came out right away at no charge and adjusted it. He did not ask any questions, and just said they would make it right, which they did. I couldn't be happier with their service, and will continue to use them.

 + -1 moreWe have used Hallam in the past and they always do good work. Feel like this time the price was too high for the amount of work performed. On the plus side,they were very accommodating and made sure the work was completed by the deadline. They did make an effort to repair an old tub faucet before replacing it with a new one. They did an estimate before I approved the work and because the difficulty of some of the items was unknown until the work was performed, I feel like they estimated high which I understand but felt they didn't give me any benefit as a returning customer when the repairs were not as difficult as anticipated.
Description of Work: Had numerous items repaired as the result of a home inspection on a home we were selling.

 + -1 moreI have a maintenance contract with this company for which I paid $188 in February, 2009, for a two year "CAIRfree Plumbinb Maintenance Agreement." The agreement says that the customer is to be given a 15% discount on plumbing repairs, but I was given only a 10% discount. Per the agreement, the usual $68 "diagnostic charge" was waived, although I do not see that any "diagnosis" was necessary in the first place. A six year old child could see that the above connector was leaking; water was dripping from it onto the floor below. The plumber was courteous, explained what he was doing, and seemed to work efficiently. The work appeared to be of high quality.
Description of Work: The plumber removed an old water softener bypass that was leaking at its rubber connector and installed a new PCX (plastic) bypass. It took him about an hour–maybe a little more.

 + -1 moreThey charged $500 to fix the four faucets however after they were finished only one of the dripping faucet was fixed. The 2 others still dripped (they said this was because they were old and work on them couldn't be guaranteed) My kitchen faucet which was a top of the line Delta Faucet which was only 5 years old still leaked terribly. When I called to complain that they charged us $500 to basically fix only one dripping faucet they offered to provide a "credit" of $400 to replace the other faucets that they couldn't fix. They then quoted me $2800 to replace 4 faucets plus a new stainless steel sink and disposal. I said "no thanks" and went to a individual who could do the work with identical equipment for 30% less (even with the $400 credit). If you look at my other reviews, you can see I am not the complaining sort. Hallam Plumbing is not a good plumber or very fair to their customers.
Description of Work: They were to fix 4 leaking faucets. The kitchen faucet was a steady stream leaking under the sink and 3 were other faucets in the house that were a slow drip from the spout.

 + 1 moreCustomer beware! This is not the same Metzler's Plumbing that I have used in the past! In 2008 Metzler's Plumbing was bought by Williams Comfort Air and is now called 'Metzler's Mr. Plumbing'. 'Mr Plumbing' is a division of Williams Comfort Air who probably stays in business due to its' 'maintenance plans' that unsuspecting customers buy. I will not be using them again due to a variety of reasons. The price that I was quoted for a water heater flush over the phone was not the same that the technician gave me for a water heater flush. The technician graciously honored the price that I was quoted over the phone and I appreciate that. I think that operators should not give quotes to the customers if the operatores are not knowledgeable about the service that is being requested. Extra installations/repairs were recommended in order to complete a water heater flush. This was not clear to me when I scheduled the appointment and I have heard that usually plumbers are able to perform certain techniques in order to complete a flush. Metzler's of the past would have been upfront about this. Outside of the water heater, other recommendations were pointed out that I know for a fact do not need servicing so this made the extra water heater recommendations highly suspect. The technician attempted to sell me a 'maintenance plan' which included a whole house 'plumbing inspection' and yearly water heater flush for $99/year. The word 'inspection' instead of 'servicing' jumped out at me due to obvious reasons. Then they say that you'll get HUGE discounts on services. Yea right - services you don't really need in the first place! I declined the offer. Watch out for this company! I am disappointed that Metzler's Plumbing is no more. Unfortunately, I will now be looking for a new plumber that hasn't sold itself out to naive customers.

 + 0 moreThe alarm on our battery back-up sump pump sounded indicating the main sump pump wasn't running. I also noticed a leak around the check valve on our back-up line. We called Metzler Mr Plumber and Chris arrived within 30 minutes. He tested the switch on the old pump to make sure it wasn't the problem, and found the pump was dead. He install a new 1/2 hp Stevens sump pump (I chose it over the 1/3 hp pump which was about $250 cheaper installed). He also replaced the old check valve with a new one which has a better design. Chris was very professional & knowledgable, he made sure everything was properly installed and working as it should.
Description of Work: Replaced old sump pump that stopped working and installed a new check valve on the battery back-up sump line. Note: This was an after-hours job at 9:30pm, their coupon in Angie's List only applies for regular hours calls.

 + 0 moreCalled for service about 4:30 pm. They had a first call appt. available the next morning. I mentioned that I was hoping to use a coupon I found on their website, so she asked a few questions and said it would probably depend on what the service tech. found on arrival. Jason called to give us 1/2 hr. notice that he was on his way and he was right on time first thing in the morning. He took a look at our problem and said we WOULD qualify for the coupon (significant savings! - which is in effect until mid November). He explained that the work would be guaranteed for 1 yr. as long as we allowed them to come back within 24-48 hrs. to do a free camera inspection of the sewer line. If so they would come back, if necessary (God Forbid), 2 more times within that year for free if the sewer line became clogged again. He was able to clear the line in a timely manner and did a very good job. Jason was friendly, clean, and very knowledgeable; and he pointed out additional things which were very helpful!! He had a great attitude, considering the strenuous and very unpleasant nature of the work.
Description of Work: Unclogged sewer line which was backing up "black water" etc, from floor drains onto basement floor. (e-e-w-w-w-w!!)
