Mr Plumber by Metzler & Hallam

I had a clogged drain and it needed to be unplugged so that the kitchen sink would not overflow. I saw an ad in the newspaper for a "free" service call. The lady on the phone said that I could use the coupon for the "free" service call unless when the person arrived to fix the drain did not do the work. Then I would have to pay the 79.00 for nothing! A service person came to my home and gave me an up-front estimate. I "fell off my chair" First they quote a phony, inflated price and then if I signed up for an annual maintenance agreement they would discount the service down to about 25% higher than my last charge from another plumber! In this situation I ended up paying about 89.00 more than the last several times that I have paid to have the drain opened! (229.00 versus about 140.00). Of course they do not quote a price over the phone. They just take advantage of someone who needs to have a drain opened. I would strongly urge anyone who uses this company to get a quote up front on the phone! In addition to the 229.00 they normally have a 79.00 service charge. When I opened the newspaper today there was a "free" service charge coupon which if I had not had would have made my invoice 229.00 plus 79.00 for a total of 308.00 for what I normally have paid about 140.00! The man said if I did not pay the 229.00 then I would have to pay the 79.00 just for coming to my home. This is a rip off and I would suggest anyone to not use this company unless they want to throw their money away! I will never use them again!

Called Mr. Plumber to look at a bathroom rough in, the water would not get hot. They arrived on time and did a quick assestment to advise of cost involved, which I signed off on. After checking the water lines to make sure they were not crossed they focused on the shower fixtures. The plumber was very methodical on the diagnosing the root cause and figured out it was the shower valve body cartridge. Upon replacing the cartridge which they had on their truck the issue was resolved. The plumber was very professional pet friendly and detail oriiented.

I contacted Metzler's on a Sunday evening, through Angie's List website. The next morning, Angela Balser contacted me on the phone, she set up an appointment on Tuesday, to have the plumber come out and give a quote. Brandon came out on Tuesday morning, and introduced himself, supplied a business card and wore shoe covers to keep the house clean. Brandon gave a quote, and actually him and another guy did the work that day. $1,400.00 maybe a little high, but for the responsiveness, quality, punctuality and professionalism, I'll pay extra. Brandon did top quality work, made sure he was doing exactly what I wanted completed, and cleaned up the area before leaving. I did sign up for a service contract, which did save a little money, and gave peace of mind for the next year. Overall, very pleased with service, and will recommend to others! Thanks!

After assessing the situation, I got an accurate quote up front. With my okay, the plumber set to work. He did a good job and everything was done quickly and well except for switching the hot and cold water on the washing machine. We called the company and that was fixed very quickly.

They do a great job everytime. They have installed a new water, they have done all my general plumbing repairs. If you sign up for a service plan for the year they do a free plumbing inspection as well.

They were very prompt and responsive. They did a good job and we would definitely use them again.

Metzler's Mr. Plumber installed Easy Water and the iron filter system one and one half years ago. The system ruined our clothes, our flatware, our glassware, did a poor job cleaning dishes in the dishwasher, discolored our faucets and drains and toilets; we HATED the system. We decided to have it removed and replaced with a water softener and chose the product (Aqua Systems) and had an install date. I called Metzler's Mr. Plumber to cancel the visit we had set up when we were so disheartened by the Easy Water system. They asked if they could come out anyway; they did not want to leave us dissatisfied. Chris came, listened, understood our frustration, and offered to remove the system and replace it with our choice of water softener - at no charge! We cancelled our order with Aqua Systems. Chris returned the next day, with the same model Aqua Systems water softener we had chosen, installed it, drained our now-iron-filled water heater, made sure everything was running well, and again said they wanted us to be satisfied customers. Chris even brought and installed the filters for our kitchen drinking water filtration system and did not charge for labor, again saying how he understood our frustration and wanted to be sure we were satisfied. (We insisted on paying for the filters, as they had nothing to do with the horrible Easy Water and iron filter system problems.) The company (Williams Comfort Air and Metzler's Mr. Plumber) is always very polite on the telephone, appointments are kept on time, cloths are put down to keep the house clean, and Chris treated us very professionally and kindly. This great response to our concerns about the bad Easy Water and iron filter system goes over and above expectations, and we are very pleased to give Metzler's Mr. Plumber and Chris an A+++ rating.

They are very conscientious and thorough. He helped me work through the issues, and he came up with the best solution. They come on time and are neat. I would recommend them to anyone to have their work done.

The guy showed up on time and I showed him the clean out. I told him there probably wouldn't be anything there because there wasn't anything there the last time I had it cleared. I wanted it done for preventative maintenance. He advised me that the line had to be blocked in order for me to use the $93 coupon and the charge since it was only maintenance was $349.00. The last time I had it done it took all of 5 minutes (no exxageration). No way was I paying that much. The previous company I used charged $125.00 and I plan to look them up again and call them back. When I called Mr. Plumber, I spoke to Brenda and she reasoned the price difference of $125 to $349 was due to inflation. She didn't know too much apparently. I told her that when I called to schedule the appointment, I told them the situation that it was not blocked but wanted any tree roots grounded out. They should have told me then that the $93 coupon would not apply and they would charge a ridiculous amount of $349.00. Crazy! To top that off, if the line was blocked why would I wait over 2 weeks to have it cleared????

The representative arrived on time, was pleasant, courteous and professional. However, we feel that he gave us an unreasonably high estimate. The estimate for replacing our old heater, installing a thermal expansion tank, a new 1/4 turn shut off, and an oversize drain valve, as well as a 10-year monitoring service was $1792. To only replace the tank would be $999.68. We did not receive a breakdown on the costs of the different items, but did get this breakdown (quoting from the estimate): "To install thermal expansion tank $281.19; To install new 1/4 turn shut off $294.15; To install oversize drain valve $125.14." We made an appointment for Hallam to return the next day to do the job, as we had a leaking water heater in the basement and didn't know whether it would "blow". However, when we checked on the internet, the prices of each of these items (other than the new tank) was, in each case, less than $80. As our suspicions were aroused, we decided that we needed more time. We called two more companies the next morning, and called Hallam to cancel the work for that day. We also asked that Hallam's representative call us to explain the breakdown. We got lower estimates from the other companies and ultimately made arrangements to have one of them replace the water heater. In the meantime, the representative got back in touch, and did not give us a breakdown, but offered to meet the prices of the competitors. At this point, we had lost confidence, and cancelled the appointment that we had made. We had the heater fixed by the lower of the two other bidders, and felt that the lesson is to always get alternate bids, even if the company is very highly ranked on the List. (We had been inclined to trust to the rankings and to go with just Hallam's bid. We won't do that again.) I did not give them the lowest ranking, only because the representative was polite and professional when he came to look at the tank. However, I do feel that we would have been taken advantage of.

They were very professional, on time, and had good follow up on the appointments. The technician was well trained and knew what he was doing. They fixed an issue with the unit with no problems.

They were fine. The gentleman who came out was friendly and helpful. I was satisfied with the service.

Mark was prompt and made sure I understood what he would be doing. There was a brief delay when they had to order a flapper that they didn't have in stock. Mark kept me up to date on the search for the required flapper and got it in two business days later.

Mark D. did the work for us. His estimate was accurate to what we were charged to do the work a few days later. He was very friendly and willing to educate us and answer questions we had. We appreciated his honesty about what faucets could be rebuilt and what should be replaced, and felt we were charged fairly for the rebuilds. Two weeks after the new kitchen faucet was installed, the fittings became loose and the faucet could not be used properly. We called the office back and Mark was out the next day to inspect and fix the problem at no charge. He invited us to call back if there were any further problems. Everyone we experienced at R V Hallam was very pleasant and nice to work with.

Serviceman arrived on time and completed work in a timely fashion.

We were happy with the work overall. The price seemed high but the work was well done. Dissatisfied later when we learned of another problem, that was pretty obvious in the setting of the repairs done that the plumber should have made us aware of. Considering the price we paid, seems reasonable the plumber could have made us aware of a developing problem we were having with a leaking toilet in the same area.

Qualified technician and work was good, but the price was very high. They have a set price for services that could be hundreds of dollars.

Found Hallam on Angie's List and had them come out to go over several plumbing issues in the home. Everything was attended to and fixed, including a new condensate drain, bathroom fixtures, kitchen fixtures and hooking up our new refrigerator's water/ice dispenser. We found their estimate to be accurate, although a bit pricey, but we were well pleased with their work and meeting completion dates. We have a life-time policy with them for our future plumbing needs.

They were great and did a great job! They were reasonably priced and got the work done quickly.

Dustin was great. He got the disposal up and running again; and, he determined that our toilet is not likely the cause of a water-spot on our first floor ceiling. So instead of pulling the toilet up and replacing the wax seal, Dustin identified some more likely sources of the leak. It was nice that he steered me away from unnecessary service.
