Mr Plumber by Metzler & Hallam

I made an appointment for service with an accommodating person on the phone. The repair technician Keith showed up at the time agreed. He explained what was causing the leaks and suggested a minor tank rebuild, which is basically replacing the tank innards. He also suggested replacing the short water supply pipe with a flexible one. I agreed to have him do all the work he suggested. He completed the work in a timely manner and was very courteous and professional. The toilet does not leak any more.

Jason Lee from Metzler's Mr. Plumber, whom we have used before, was as always prompt, personable, professional, and competent. He worked to re-use where possible and thus kept the cost down.

It was very satisfactory. We have had a sump pump failure in February 2008 in a weekend and we did get them out. I purchased a sump pump at the last minute; they installed it and got it going which they handled well. After this problem my wife decided to have a backup system so they put in a backup system for us in June 2008. That backup system had a battery, a regulator type of activity and also the backup sump pump which worked. About a year later, in the morning we were literally leaving for a several day trip and there was a light flashing at the backup system had activated. I was unfamiliar with that and hadn't seen it before. I called them and they sent a relatively an experienced plumber. His conclusion was that the regular system was failing and we just put in that regular system about a year earlier. We purchased it at another place and not through Hallam so they didn't warrant the original system at all because we hadn't purchased it through them. The plumber's recommendation was that it was failing but we didn't know. His only option was to replace it so we sent $500 replacing that sump pump that I purchased a year before. I was not happy at all but that was his only recommendation. This spring that light has come on several times so I read the material more and talked to somebody at Hallam. When there is a lot of water coming in the spring with a lot of rain and it's not uncommon to get a little bit overwhelmed and the second one kicked in. I watched that for a number of cycles for over a month or two this spring and it was true. It would come on, when I turn it off it would stay off and may be three weeks later it would come on again. That was normal and so I decided to put in bigger sump pumps with bigger pipes but it's not normally needed and probably would not be a problem. I was convinced at that point in time that the replacement of the original sump pump for $500 plus bucks was probably a waste of money. That was one of several things with Hallam that makes me unhappy with them. The plumber did not call anybody or talk to anybody; he just said he was going to replace the sump pump. The last experience is another light went on and said that the system has failed. I turned that light off and it came back on again so I called Hallam and they did send a more experienced plumber out. He checked it out and said that the system has failed. He talked to the manufacturer of the system and they put a fuse that was out. They blew it again and the system seemed not to be working so they ordered a replacement part. They brought it out and there was a three year parts of warranty. For the first time in my life I think this happened in like two years and eleven months. I was still under warranty and so he looked at the warranty and ordered the sump pump which came the next week. He replaced it and there was no charge because they billed the sump pump company. I was very pleased with that last action but I'm not completely happy as it's been a hit and miss. Some of them have been good and some not so good. I tend to feel their prices are high and also they have a tendency to send out inexperienced people who don't even bother to check with somebody more experienced. Half the time I have them and half the time I don't, so I probably will look to somebody else the next time and decide somebody else.

I had another service provider tear off the old stuff in my bathroom along with the tile and fixture. They put in the part that I could use and then they put in the new shower heat. The control was mine and I did not get a new one. The price was less than $300 but more than $100. The fixture cost $100. I thought that their price was good. I have used them in the past. They were very good at heart for a plumbing company. I did not feel like I was being robbed. The people that they would usually send out were very pleasant. If they forgot to take off their shoes or put the thing on their shoes then they did not get hussy or high because I asked them to.

They did the job quickly, so I didn't have to go without the shower. They fixed it within two days after I called. I would definitely use them again.

I’ve used them and I’ll still have them do some things for me. Paul is now older and so he doesn’t do a lot of the work. He has younger guys come out and do the work. So they are a little bit higher because of that. His workers are good. He’s had some workers that I really like and then there are some who are the kind where you can’t wait for them to leave. Their work is good though. I would be getting some more estimates from the others for my bathroom. I haven’t decided which way I’m going to go because the plumber really has to co-ordinate with the tile guy and be able to come out when the tile guy says. Otherwise the tiles will be problem. I am considering may be paying a little more for Hallam just because they have more guys that can respond afterwards. Occasionally he gets a helper that I just assume I might not see again. I would consider using their services again in the future.

Jonathon was great! He was very professional and did a great job installing our new dishwasher. As part of our annual service contract with Mr. Metzler's, we receive one free household plumbing inspection. He recommended our washing machine hoses be replaced, which we did.

They have done good work and you can negotiate price with them. They are very reliable and they?ll come when they say they will. I used them and then a brought them to my mom?s and my daughter?s places.

He did an excellent job. I was happy to pay the price for the job that quality. They came in and looked at the whole plumbing system and made some suggestions for the future. I also got some stuff from him that would remove bacteria from my copper pipe system, which I also appreciated. I also was able to sign up for a prefered customer list, that gave me a discount. It was a good experience.

Craig removed the old one, waited for the wall paper hanger to do her work, then came back to install the new one. Installation took less than an hour. It works very well. We paid $80 for the 1-year service agreement, and an additional $25 Angie's List discount was applied to the bill.Craig works efficiently. Knows what he is doing. He accomodated our schedule

They guys did a pretty good job but I'm not sure if that solved all my problems. They just did what they were expected to do. They were pleasant and very good. I was very happy with the two guys they sent to do the job.

Larry Metzler is the one that came out. They showed up on time and did not leave a mess. They were friendly and seemed to know what they were doing.

We had a service agreement with RV Hallam, so naturally I called them when our sump pump was so loud, it could be heard upstairs with the door closed from the basement. I wanted to have the problem looked at immediately because I didn't want my basement flooding from spring rain and a faulty pump. They did not take appointments after 4 PM, so I had to take a personal day off from work to have the issue looked at. Sadly, the plumber did not show up until 4:30, so I could not have my problem serviced, and I ended up taking personal time for nothing since I could have been at my house at 4:30. The plumber was very understanding and said they could fix the problem at 4 the next day if I could get to my house on time. When I called to office to schedule the fix, they were very unsure about offering me the 4 PM fix even after the plumber has said it was ok, and they knew I had taken unnecessary personal time for the initial appointment. The office reluctantly agreed, but still called the next day so see if I could take more time off, or leave my house unlocked. I was having a bad day, so I was not in a place to discuss my already set appointment. The plumber then called at 3:45 to make sure I would be on time. He waited for me at my house, and fixed the problem with a smile. I was very happy with the work and that they were able to work with me after all, I just wish it hadn't been so difficult.

Hallum worked me in to provide an estimate on the day I was available, and offered three different options for models and warranty. No pressure was applied to purchase more expensive model. Installer arrived precisely on time, and performed job efficiently and left no mess, including disposal of old water heater.

He came and did not replace the leaking valve, instead he just tightened it and sold me a year membership. Well, it began leaking again and using the "membership" I called them again, this time to replace the valve. Why did he not just replace it in the first place? What is with this year membership? That was twice I had to be home for the plumber instead of just once. I wil not call them again. If you do, make them do the job right the first time, so you do not need their stupid membership.

They gave me an arrival time of between 8 and 10am (I guess that's what you get when you ask them for a first call.) The plumber called me at around 8:30 to say he was still about 40 minutes out, and finally arrived at 9:10...then sat in his van for at least 5-10 minutes. Maybe I just need to find a plumber who will offer a smaller window for a first call; I just felt I waited too long, although they kept their word about arrival time. It just was very inconvenient for me because I had to go to work. By the time he finally arrived, I explained what needed to be done and he wrote up the estimate. Even with the preferred customer "discount" (which costs $99 per year), it was still $160 to clean each drain...which seemed kind of high to me, but maybe that's just the going rate. I didn't have time to argue. I had to leave to go to work and couldn't stay to supervise. When I got home, I noticed that the bathroom sink where he had been working was a little dirty. And he'd closed the door to the basement, which inadvertently locked my cat downstairs without access to food or water all day. (I hadn't mentioned to keep the door open, although it was open when I left the house.) On the plus side, the drains are cleaned and running a lot better now. A somewhat frustrating experience - not entirely their fault, but again, I may need to find a different company that won't make me wait so long.

I woke up on a Sunday morning to find water pouring out of my water system into the basement. I called several places and Metzler's was the first to respond and arrive. My pressure tank had rusted out so I had it and the water softener replaced and the whole system totally re-piped. It was a very big job that took all of the next day but now the whole system is much improved and I am very happy with it. The plumber (Brandon) was extremely knowledgeable and professional. I might have been able to pay a little less had I shopped around but I could not have been happier than I was with Metzler's and I will continue to use them.

It went very well. They were very professional and prompt. Their pricing was competitive.

They came out to check on sewage backing up into my basement floor drain. The plumber suggested it be cleaned and that I purchase their annual "membership" agreement to save money long-term. Not interested.. After cleaning the drain, their camera person said they said there was a break in my main sewer main and that the cost would be $12,000. Then the story changed to $7,800. The company promised a camera inspection and didn't do it - so essentially their cameraman was giving me an quote without knowing the scope of the job. He proposed that they re-route my entire internal sewer line because they couldn't access the existing line (really??). It was going to be a horrible mess - both financially and to the aesthetics of my house. I got two additional opinions - come to find out this company didn't even identify correctly where the sewer main was (must be because of that camera they never used). Long story short - they looked at me and saw dollars. I completed the sewer repair for just over $4,000 with a reputable company - that did a camera inspection and isolated the problem spot to a very small break that was easily accessible (thereby saving my driveway, trees in my front yard and my basement from looking like a mess from all the proposed pipe rerouting). NEVER AGAIN will I call them for anything. I can't imagine how this company would ever receive an "A" rating on this site.

They were great! Did exactly what needed to be done. Worked well with kitchen installers who were working simultaneously. Checked on a tub leak while here at my request and made some recommendations for things we could easily do ourselves to correct the problem and didn't even charge me for the extra advice. Highly recommend!

They did a good job. I was satisfied with their workmanship but their pricing was ridiculous. They were here to make some replacements because one faucet was leaking, but then they had to replace four faucets because they could not match the one that was being replaced. The workmanship was fine but the pricing wasn?t. I called them to complain about the pricing, and they gave me absolutely no satisfaction. The biggest portion of the price that we had with this thing was the labor charge. When I called them to complain about the pricing, the guy gave me a big song and dance about the price of commodities and copper going up and all the rest of the stuff. Based on the pricing that I checked out, the faucets themselves cost about may be about 30% of the total bill and the guy came back and said that the price of the commodities had gone up. I knew what the faucets cost, so there was something rotten about the kind of pricing that we got. They do good work but spend money on the advertising, so they have got their overhead up, so they really have to charge more for their services which is not acceptable. Every time I call them up, they have their hand in my pocket and I don?t feel very comfortable. I don?t feel like spending more time with such kind of guys. I would not use them in the future.

I called Mr. Plumber because the company was listed on Angie's list and offered a coupon. Upon calling, they told me they didn't honor the coupon on the weekend and that weekend rates would apply. What they didn't tell me was that weekend rates were nearly four times the standard rate. The worker was professional and efficient and did mange, after some difficulty to get the drain open. After opening the drain, the worker told me the company wouldn't issue a warranty until I scheduled a visual inspection which was obviously nothing more than a sales call to get me to replace my entire sewer system, something another, more ethical plumber, had told me was unnecessary. The worker then tried to sell me a maintenance agreement which was nothing more than advance payment for discounted services. Next time my sewer backs up, I'll take my family on a mini vacation until my regular plumber is available. It will be more cost effective. I would never use this service again.

Paul Hallam visited my home to check for leaks in the toilets, water pressure, and drain the water heater. He seemed put off that I did not have a floor drain or hose & that he would have to drain the water heater into a bucket. After he left I discovered he had emptied the bucket into my tub and hadn't even bothered to rinse it out leaving quite a mess. I thought he had taken it outside to empty. While here he also quoted me on several other items of potential work, some of which another plumber said I didn't even need done. Hallam's pricing was also higher than the other company on the work I actually wanted completed. Yes, he did the job I paid for. (I'm happy it was only $59.00) but from the overall experience I would not contact this company again. I'm glad his other reviewer's had a good experiences.

They did a terrific job. I called and they came out right away. They sent out the techician during the estimate process. I was happy with the estimate and had them do the work. The technician was on time and did great work. He cleaned up well after he was done. I would highly recommend them to anyone.

It was a big job. They did a great job and it looks great. They did everything great from the initial diagnosis of the problem to giving me options on how to fix it. They did the job very professionally and did it without doing any damage.
