Do not call these people! Even in your critical time of need! They are scam artists who take advantage of you during emergencies at vulnerable times and will send you exorbitant bills for work you did not have done, require that you sign a complete estimate for estimate work you don't need before they will do the work that you do request, tell you one thing verbally, and then refused to put it in writing, and then be sure to tell you that there was no way they ever said that... and in the end, when you review the invoice and push back, they then harass you when you fight it. If I could leave zero stars I would.
Description of Work: Basement flooded while we were out of town - we requested that they dry out the carpet (no pad under it). There was no wall wetness or additional labor required. Before they'd start work, they insisted we sign an estimate for significantly more work than we needed. We told them at that time that we would not be doing that work and only wanted the driving (which we were given a verbal estimate for), but were told that they had to include everything potentially necessary on the comprehensive estimate. When the carpet was dry 3 days later, we called them to stop work (they did not check on our job) ensuring they only did the drying work and no more. They charged me for not only the drying -which they inflated the price on significantly vs. what was verbally discussed-, but also charged construction fees and other work that was never completed or agreed to.

It started off badly and got worse. We called the after hour emergency line and was told we would get a call back shortly. Called back several times and the operator said they would dispatch the call out. Nearly 16 hours later, I finally got a call back. A few hours later someone arrived with some blowers and dryers. By that time the wood was already beginning to warp. Days later, they began the restoration process. They tore out some of the flooring and said they discovered mold and had to stop. This caused another delays of multiple days. The mold crew came out. They said they could not test for mold. I called a mold tester who came out and did a test. Midwest suggested I stay at a motel even though they did not run a test. They started removing the rest of the wood floor and spraying for mold. In the meantime, the test came back. No mold. During this process Midwest was not sending estimates or documentation to me or the insurance company. This led to delays in getting payment. When I go the invoices, I was invoiced for work that was in the estimate but not performed. The amount of flooring removal I was charged for in the water remediation and mold remediation invoices (separate for some reason) was greater than the total amount of flooring that was removed. When I contacted Midwest about the invoice, they were unwilling to discuss the issue. While waiting for them to respond, I received a collection notice from a lawyer. I would avoid this company like the plague. The workers were competent and did a good job. Management and accounting were far from competent
Description of Work: We had a sewer line back up into our house and got underneath our wood floors

Midwest arrived later in the day and immediately took control and started pulling back the carpet, cut out the drywall and located the problem. It was a leak in the main water line coming in from the well. Turned off the water and they began the drying process. Moved all the furniture, removed the carpet pad, and removed the damaged drywall. They had a mass amount of drying equipment and left it to dry for a few days. Long story short, they fixed and painted the drywall, replaced the carpet pad, re-stretched the carpet and put back all the furniture. So if you have a wet basement who you gonna call -Midwest Remedition.
Description of Work: When I went down to our finished basement I found the carpet was saturated with water. I didn’t even know where the water was coming from. I called our insurance agent and they recommended Midwest Remediation.

Edwardo and Ray were sincere, professional, clean, respectful, and did a good. They were unable to finish the job in one day. They said their installers were so booked out that they were not taking appointments. So now I need to make another appointment to have new carpet laid down. The drying team was wonderful but I was not able to use their installation services. I wish I had been informed prior to services that they would only be able to pull up the carpet and dry the floors but would not be able to replace the carpet. I would use them again only if the installers could finish the job.

What I didn't like about them was that they were very, very slow. It seemed like we had to pester them about a lot of stuff. From the beginning, we didn't get the estimate and they told us we were supposed to get it ahead of time, and we didn't get it. We waited and waited so my husband had to call and ask where it was. It kind of started out bad. We liked their estimate the best and we liked the things that they were going to do so that was why we ended up going with them. It was like we were put on the back burner and it took 6 months to get it done. We had even gone on vacation twice and we thought that while we were on vacation, that would be the best time for them to come in and do the work quickly instead of dragging it out like they did. It was like their people went to different places and if there were a couple of extra hours, they would come out and do something so it was a long, long process that way. It would have been so much better if they worked in a week instead of 6 months. They did good work but I don't know that I would really actually recommend them. I don't want to spend much time going through that. They did a good job. There were some stuff that we made comments about and we weren't happy with, and they did come in and fixed all these things so I'm glad about that. I thought they gave us a good price for all that was done compared to some of the other quotes that we finally got from other people. I liked the contractor. I thought he had a nice personality. When the guys did something and we thought it was kind of sloppy, he agreed and he was like one of those perfectionist people. When we complained, he understood. He didn't look at us like we were picky. I liked that about them. I just wish it didn't take them so long to do it. They came out one day for 3 hours and then not see him again for 2 weeks. I think that if they don't have the time to do something, then they should just tell the people that they love to get the job but they've got a lot of iron from the fire right now so it's going to take a while. They just have to come out and say how they plan on doing things instead of doing what they did. Maybe it was our fault. We should have asked specifically how long it's going to take. I never realized that anybody would ever do something like that. I just figured that when we had work done before by companies, they did it in a whole week or week and a half, whatever they said it's going to take they come everyday until it's done. They don't come and do a little bit at a time and not see them for 2 weeks. If they are going to do that, then they should tell the client upfront so that we don't assume it's going to be different. Their responsiveness wasn't very good.

They don't finish the job as to specification or to what the customer wants. They do not listen to the homeowner. They have gone over 4 months on a 3 month job. They are hardly ever here, and when they are little to nothing gets done. They often take off to do other jobs. I just want my house done.

I cannot say enough positive things about this company. From the time Doran walked through my front door during my "basement flooding crisis," my experience with Midwest has been nothing but positive! When Doran arrived another company was still there (Five Star - please see my rating of this company...NOT positive) within 5 minutes of Doran arriving I knew my business was going to Midwest and so did the other company. Doran has a take-charge attitude and with his professional and courteous nature he quickly calmed my frantic nerves. He took the time to help me understand where we were, what the clean up process would look like, what my options were and provided recommendations on how to proceed. Doran and his team visited my house almost daily to check the fans and make sure areas were properly drying to prevent mold. His team was as professional, accommodating and knowledgable as his was. I have had several people to comment on how surprisingly well Midwest dried my basement and it smells just like it did prior to the days of standing water. They did an EXCELLENT JOB!!! I hope to never have a flooded basement again but if I do without a doubt I am call Midwest Remediation!!! I am a forever fan!!!

Unparalleled service. response team showed up at 6 am after working all night on another emergency. they were remarkably cheerful. the diagnosis was correct and the treatment plan was approved through the insurance company immediately. throughout the process we received accurate communication from their case management team to explain next steps and how the insurance conversations were developing. we didn't have to fight for anything and the restoration work was perfect. couldn't be more pleased. would absolutely use them again or refer to another in need.

This company had been recommended by my insurance agent. They were very professional, on time, and had a large hard working crew here to put on our new roof in a short period of time. Later they came back and fixed the bathroom ceiling, matching old paint perfectly, and making the room look as good as new. It was a very easy process.

Doran, (and his crew) from their remediation and mitigation team responded to my initial distress in about an hour and a half. This was amazingly fast! Doran was professional, efficient, and really made me feel like we were a priority and made every effort to keep expenses down. Every concern I raised was addressed immediately, and I simply can't say enough about how easy and great Doran was to work with! Aaron was a very patient project manager. He was professional and handled all aspects of my nightmare of a situation with patience. He did everything I asked, and must have had to redo estimates a dozen times, since our insurance adjuster was changed in the middle of the event. The contractors Midwest uses from 1st Class Painting for the drywall and painting work were really great! Santos and his guys (Carlos and Carlos) were great to work with and do high quality work. Overall, the events/repairs lasted about 2 1/2 months. I highly recommend this company and would use again!
Description of Work: Water Remediation, mitigation and repairs encompassing three separate events occurring in short succession...all during the same repair span. We own a rental home on the street in which we live, and had two supply lines in an upstairs bathroom burst during the cold weather. The tenant was not home at the time of the event and we woke to see 2" of ice on everything in the garage and water everywhere. I immediately called our insurance agent, and they suggested having Midwest take care of our immediate emergency needs. During the initial dry-out, they discovered ice damming occurring, and quickly took action to slow the damage. As the project was winding down, we had an additional water damage incident occur (through no fault of theirs)...resulting in a total of three separate claims with relating remediation, mitigation, & repairs.

We hired them to clean up mold and water damage in our kitchen and family room. We had several other quotes and they were right in the middle as far as price. After some scheduling delays due to the weather, they got to work. They sealed the affected areas off, used several air cleaners, and overall did an excellent job. Although the job took twice as long as their initial quote, the final bill was the same as the initial quote. We had an independent lab come out and do air quality testing and per the microbiologist's protocol, Midwest Remediation was to wipe down EVERYTHING in our house. We did not stay in the house while they worked, but I believe they did wipe everything down - all the cobwebs in the high vaulted ceiling were gone and it was clear that even my daughter's books were wiped down. They had to pack up our entiere kitchen and they were very careful to package everything in bubble wrap so as not to break anything. They ran several air cleaners throughout the house, cleaned the HVAC system. Most importantly, they got our mold spore numbers down to below outside levels (we went from a level of 33,000 to 175!), so I know they did something right. I hope to never need their service again, but if we do, we will definitely use them again. Their communication was slightly lacking (we had to ASK for updates, rather than them providing us with updates throughout the project), but they responded quickly when we asked anything. Overall, they were excellent and very thorough and I would absolutely use again.

This company stepped in to do the remediation. They said they would be glad to help with the deductible and that they would be willing to work with my insurance's low estimate. Thanks to Aaron, my project manager, because even though he tore up his Achilles tendon, he still worked on the project. He was not available, but he always answered my calls when I needed him or had a question. I'm so glad that everyone was able to help my mother and connect me with 1st Class Painting, Eagle Flooring, The Plumbing Co. I will use all the same companies for any additional work. I'm not afraid of any disasters, because I have this crew to rely on. Thanks to Angie's List for helping me find this remediation company that could help me out and work with my low estimate. I called many different places that weren't able to help at all.

After day 1 of a bathroom remodel project, we discovered mildew growth on some of the wall studs and discoloration of the wall insulation. Given that the plan was to reinstall drywall on day 2 we called the number for Midwest Remediation listed on their website to find out how soon they could send someone to assess the extent of the problem and to see how much it would cost. Even though we called at 7:30 in the morning, an expert answered the phone and asked us several specific questions to understand the situation. Based on this information, he indicated that the problem did not require professional remediation, and recommended several practical steps we could take with our current contractor to address the manageable areas we had identified. The expert stayed on the phone until we were satisfied he had addressed our questions. There was no charge for this phone consultation, and we were able to proceed with day 2 of our project with our contractor by outlining the specific actions we needed him to take to address the mildew problem with the piece of mind that we had taken appropriate steps to avoid future mildew problems.

They were prompt and did the job as expected. We had water in our basement when an icemaker broke. They had to extract water from the walls, the flooring and the insulation for longer than we had expected. They didn’t exceed their quote, though. Everything was okay. Ours is a vacation home and in the winter we are not there. It happened when we were not here. There was more damage than expected and they didn’t make money off of our job, but they were nice about it the whole time. I appreciate that. We will mitigate this if there is any mold growth in the future and we get any opportunity to call them.

They were very slow to get here. They were not good on the phone when I had an emergency. I could not get anyone to respond to my emergency. The young fellow who helped clean the laundry room did not do a good job and I had to call them to come back out. I found them unconcerned with helping me. When they called me back they referred to themselves as a different company which was confusing. When they finally got here they were nice and rescued me and dried me out. Ultimately they did a good job but it was a hassle getting them to come out.

The company damaged my leather sofa but didn't tell me. Rather the company put damaged section against wall and asked me not to put back to original place until the carpet is treated. I saw the damage when pushing the sofa back by myself, and called the company. The company agreed to fix it. I wanted to pay the company after the sofa is fixed, but the company seemed didn't make good effort. A few months later, the company called me claimed left a message sometime ago asking me to talk to a upholstery contractor and didn't receive a response. Without my chance to speak anything, they went on said (out of the blue)that if I don't pay them immediately and before fixing sofa, they will make my "head spin" and make my "life miserable". Puzzled and scared, I paid immediately while to weigh my options later. Today the company did send someone to patch the damage. Nonetheless, the patch look so obvious just like the damage itself. What an experience! I haven't given up...
