Description of Work: Excellent, fast and reasonable plumbing repair. I emailed Sunday night and it was well done the following Monday afternoon, 8/24. I had a leaky outside faucet, emailed and they called first thing next morning even though I was a first time customer. Can't try until 24 hours of "setting" on tuesday, but the new fixture looks great and there is no more leak. Highly recommended company!

The guys came out and determined right away that we needed a new water heater. Old one was not working and rusted out along the bottom so repairing was not recommended. The job went well, however it did take about 4 hours when they said they would be in and out in roughly 2 hrs. It was toward the end of the day and maybe they were just working slow so they didn't have to lose out on a full 8 hr day. Regardless, I still pays the quoted amount. We also had them install the heater on an elevated stand since we sometimes have water in our basement. Hoping this will help extend the life of the unit. Stand was an extra $135.

From the initial quote to the conclusion of the job, this could not have gone better. Casey was professional throughout, working extremely hard to complete as much of the job as possible prior to our move-in date - meaning that he and an assistant were at the house from 9am to 9pm the day before the move getting most of the heavy lifting done, and came back after the move was done to install the gas stove and finish with the garbage disposal. We had used Hope Plumbing on a small job at our previous residence, and I'm pleased to see the same quality at a much larger scale.

I hired Hope Plumbing because of their reputation for working with older homes. I have some major plumbing issues in my basement where the previous owner put all of the trap pipes are located. Additionally the main drain pipe exiting the home is not aligned properly for proper drainage. I was hoping this initial visit was going to be the start of overhauling my basement plumbing with this company. The initial call went well. The Tech (whose name eludes me) was fantastic and provided me a quote. He stated that the price for this estimation would be prorated to the actual bill of $698. **Be Advised, this is not a policy of Hope Plumbing and they will charge you no for the initial estimate** This is where things started to head south. We called Hope after the Tech left (6/3) and I scheduled for them to come out and make the repairs that Friday (6/5). Friday came and went, no call, no tech, no service. I called Hope Plumbing after the 4 hour window they gave me and the receptionist (same person I scheduled the repair with) said I was not on the schedule. Being that I missed a half a day of work, I asked for some small compensation. She said she would check with her manager and get back to me. No call back. I called Monday, spoke with the receptionist and she spoke with the Manager on that call and provided me with a small discount, I was happy. They recognized their mistake and made up for it - what I expected from Hope Plumbing. We scheduled the repair call and everything was back on track. After the repairs were made, we received the bill. The initial estimate call of $115 was not prorated to the bill as the tech previously stated. His response was that Hope changed their policy and he can't prorate the estimate to the service fee. I called and spoke with the receptionist/scheduler, she forwarded me to Christine. Her demeanor on the phone was rude and dismissive. After I explained the series of events that brought us to this point, she said they cannot give me both the $115 dollar amount and the discount for them missing the scheduled repair call. I understand a business needs to make money and they can't give away their services for free to everyone. However, when a company makes a mistake, I wholeheartedly believe they should make things right, even if they come out with a loss. Mistakes happen, we are all human. However, when you do make a mistake, you should make things right. This is a case where things were not corrected. I was lied to and when I addressed the issue, I was met with hostility. I gave Hope Plumbing a D instead of a F because their tech and their quality of service was on point. The sad part is I was so excited about using Hope Plumbing thinking I had a plumber I could call and trust. I cannot trust this company and thus will not be using their services for the remainder of repairs in my home.

On the first week they scheduled, they didn't show up because they had too much work before my appointment. I wasn't happy about the charges because I think they overcharged me. The quote was $149 and I paid $39 for the $100 service call so I shouldn't be paying anything. They charged me $49. They were fine. Nothing stood out.

Couldn't have asked for a better experience with a plumber. They were very professional. Called about a half hour before they got to my house. Quoted me a price and explained since I didn't have an outside clean out, it would be a little extra to clean the main (had to take some pipes apart). When they finished, they showed me the tree roots causing the issues. They also gave me a good synopsis of what shape my drain was in, told me where they ran into the issue, and said they made it all the way out to the city line. They also advised me about how best to maintain the drain and how often I should be giving them a call to have it cleaned out. Took the time to answer any questions I had. I've owned the house for almost 5 years now, and the drain has never worked so well.
Description of Work: I was having issues with my basement drain flooding when it rained and a slow drain after it rained. Hope Plumbing asked about the problem, gave me a quote for what needed done and got right to work roto-rooting the main drain.

All went well while scheduling an apt. to give me a quote on replacing a fill valve on a toilet. Upon arrival I showed the tech my problem toilet and asked that he also quote a leaking bathroom sink faucet repair and possible toilet replacement in another room as well. He then went out to his van to presumably call the office for pricing data... and 45 minutes later he finally comes back in to give me the most startling pricing for these jobs I've EVER seen. Among the other outrageous prices for the additional work I was considering was the $459.00 quote...JUST TO REPLACE THE TOILET FILL VALVE?!!! I've had this same job performed many times by other plumbers and it has never cost me more than $150 EVER! I frankly don't know how anyone with internet pricing tools would/could be uninformed enough to to actually pay that for what should be a $150/200 (absolute top price) job... When I told him these prices are completely "out-of-one's-mind" absurd and asked him to leave, he then said with no work that he would have to charge me a $69 service fee! I was shocked and angry, (especially since I was under the impression that this was a free estimate, since the scheduler said nothing about charging me anything if I didn't choose Hope) I wrote the check on the spot and told him to tell the owner I would be reporting this to the local BBB and Attorney General's office for possible investigation into fraudulent business practices. I speculate that the only way this company could possibly be receiving so many positive reviews praising their service has to be phony shill reviews...no one in their right mind would pay Hope Plumbing's ridiculous fees! I'm now questioning why I even belong to Angie's list with this kind of poor vetting of service providers...(I'm still looking for an honest plumber). My advice...stay away from Hope's plumbing at all costs!
Description of Work: Looks to me like a rip-off company who quote outrageous fees far exceeding normal plumbing fees, then when told to go away...hits up the unfortunate home owner with an equally ridiculous service charge for doing nothing! IMO these people are nothing more than scammers.

Randy from Hope was on time, curtious, and professional. I also had a smooth experience speaking with the main office when scheduling the work. I was absolutely dismayed by the PRICE. The work seems sufficient (it was done today) but it's a pretty simple plumbing job. Without a doubt, I mistakenly felt personal pressure to get this done so my kitchen could be completed later this week and I was rushing to get to a doctors appointment. Normally, I make good financial decisions that I'm happy with. I wish I had NOT HIRED them due to price. I could have had a handyman do this job for a fraction of their rate. I've learned my lesson and I will not repeat this mistake. I had an Angie's List Deal from Hope for a $39 service call and $100 off a repair. After hearing the quote, which was $696 (596 with the discount), I asked what the hourly rate is for labor. He said he did not know and that he calls in jobs to the main office and they tell him the price. Randy got here at 8:30am for the service call. Then he had to get supplies at Lowes (5 minutes away). He was completely done with the job just before noon (total of 3.5 hours including the service call). In reading reviewers that gave them an F, I did find others who detailed the cost (and time required) for various jobs and ALSO felt it was exorbitant. I AGREE. In reading the response from Hope I understand they price the job, not the hours. Someone is making quite the income. They also keep a lot of control by having the plumber call in to get a quote. I wouldn't think it's necessary to call in if the standard prices are already set. Although--they gave me a "DEAL" and did not change out my stop valve for $189 but for ONLY $89. I wish they had NOT given me that "DEAL" and added the $300 to my quote making this job essentially $1000 ($900 with discount). THAT would have definitely made me go in another direction. I'm reminded that I will ONLY use a plumber if I absolutely NEED a PLUMBER. Consider your options when you have small jobs to be done. Outside of price, they were fine to work with.
Description of Work: Replaced a portion of a plastic PVC drainpipe after my kitchen cabinet installer accidentally broke it and replaced three stop valves under my sink (one was defective and replacing all three was suggested since they were all old--to be on the safe side and to not have to pay another service fee in the future, I agreed). He also said that the company was giving me a deal ($89 per valve instead of $189 per valve if I did them with the drain pipe today).

The water heater was in a very awkward place and he had to go down my very steep and narrow stairs to the basement. And to make the job even harder, water was coming in the basement because of the heavy rain fall going on at the time. He never complained one bit about the working conditions, in fact his attitude was good. He completed the job in only about two hours, including haul-a-way of the old water heater.

Since they were not able to perform any services, my experience is with their responsiveness and professionalism which was very good. I think the offer was very good as well, basically $50 off services.
Description of Work: I purchased a Big Deal for plumbing services. Unfortunately I was out of their service area and didn't see that in the details of the fine print. We actually had scheduled a service date but when they contacted me to confirm, I learned of the problem. They were very polite and understanding. I was given an immediate credit via Angie's List.

Let me say that I have had excellent experiences with Hope Plumbing in the past. However, I am very frustrated right now. I called Hope Plumbing and asked that they send a plumber to unclog a toilet. I was told when he would be here and he arrived in a timely fashion and was very pleasant. He gave me three estimates. One was for unclogging the toilet. One was for a more in depth examination. One was for sticking a camera down the drain. I was told that the first one would not be warrantied but the second and third ones would have a warranty for 30 days. I decided to go with the second option, $378. The plumber unclogged the toilet and removed two paper towels. Just after he left, before the toilet had been used, I cleaned the toilet and the water backed up into the toilet downstairs, and seeped into my furnace room. That toilet has worked perfectly before he came to unclog the upstairs toilet, and neither toilet had been used since he left. I called Hope, and they immediately contacted the technician to come back. He called and said it would be an additional $378 because the toilet downstairs was not covered under the warranty, although that toilet had worked perfectly before he did the work in the upstairs bathroom. I was very frustrated and regret that I was not very polite to him, but he was very nice about it and said that he wasn't in control of the prices and would have to contact the main office. I decided I would do that myself because I felt that since the toilet in my basement had worked fine beforehand that even if the warranty didn't cover it, the fact that the toilet stopped working after he did his work should mean that he would come back and fix the problem caused by the work. I spoke with Christina in the home office. She was abrupt and inflexible about the charge although she did offer to not charge an additional trip fee, which would bring the cost of the second visit to $309. I tried to get her to at least reduce the fee since the problem was caused by the technician's previous work and she hung up on me. I called back and she informed me that it was my fault that she hung up because I took too long to respond to her. She wouldn't move on the price, was very hostile, and interrupted me several times as I worked very hard to keep an even tone, but I didn't really have a choice at that time and asked that he return to fix the additional problem. He came back and was very nice about it, was able to fix the problem without having to do the same kind of work he had had to do before, and was able to work with the home office to reduce the fee to a total of $120, which I really appreciated. Overall, I would say it was a mixed experience, but I was happy with the end result.

Hope Plumbing misdiagnosed the problem with our sink, which had been blocked for some days, and leaking, and we were overcharged for the service. A proper diagnosis would have indicated that there was both a hole in the p pipe and a need for pipe clearing. The drain clearer 'plastic snake' was still sitting in the sink! The p pipe was replaced successfully and we paid the requested amount with an Angie's List coupon and a check. Then we were told that a separate service order would need to be made for the snaking of the pipe and that another Angie's list coupon could not be used. It would be considered the same job. But instead of one service call, we paid for two, with only a $20 discount. We were overcharged and I complained to the company and was told that the snake equipment was very expensive. This is unsatisfactory and I will not use or recommend Hope Plumbing again.

I am older and live alone so when I found water streaming into the tank of a seldom used toilet, I tried but could not turn the shut off valve. Nothing I googled seemed to match my situation to adjust the tank inner workings and I was afraid I would break the shut off valve if I forced it with a tool. So I checked for a plumbing Deal on Angie's list as I have been so pleased in the past with workers found that way. I chose Hope Plumbing who had a coupon covering $150 of repair work for $99. I bought it on Saturday and called Monday for an appointment. The first available time was Wednesday, but if there was an earlier cancellation I was to be notified. I was pleasantly surprised to get a call Tuesday. Ryan arrived a few minutes later after he verified over the phone the kind of toilet I had so he would be prepared with the correct parts in his truck. After diagnosing the problem, he wrote up three different estimates including totally replacing the toilet. I chose the option to replace just tank parts and the stuck shut off valve. Since I had already paid the coupon deal to cover part of the cost, my final payment was $124. He also gave me a tip about turning all the shut off valves in the house back and forth about once a year to keep them working longer. I was very pleased with his professionalism and that he was able to fix it a day early.

We had several plumbing repairs to do around the house, many minor a few I could just not do myself with the tools I had. We had an appointment, and they called 1/2 before saying that they had an emergency and that they will be around 2 hours late, which is fine. When the person came, I pointed out what needed to be done and he quoted all of them individually. When I reviewed the quotes, i was shocked. First, I had a connection on my spout outside that was epoxy'd on and I had to replace, I bought the replacement part already. Quote was $125, it took him 3 minutes to do with his special wrench. But I had to have it done. next was toilet continuously dripping, quote was $219 to replace the valve and flapper, took him 10 minutes to replace this, but had to be done since it was keeping us up at night. Next quotes were outrageous $349 to fix faucet handle in hall bathroom. It just needed to repalce a washer, but he said he had to replace both handles because that is how the company does the replacement(vs just replacing a washer) Also, since they were here already, i asked to check another toilet that was flushing half way, all he had to do was readjust the chain, but he said it was $69 to do this. I could have done that, but since he was here, i asked him. i told him to undue it, i will not pay $69! I do not know if this really was the company? according to the person that came out, "this is how the prices are " I understand plumbers have to charge what they need to charge, but this was excessive, considering the time it took him to perform basic things and try to replace something that really was not needed

Hi (removed member name), I'm sorry we were late due to an emergency call. We try to do our best to keep in contact with customers if were running late, but I can understand how frustrating that can be. You gave us a "C" for quality. Are you still having issues? We warranty our work and our material. We'd be happy to make any corrections if this was not done properly. I can't speak for other service providers, but were happy to give a price range for the service you're needing over the phone. I don't know that it makes sense for us to apologize that our technician was able to make these repairs in a timely manor. We do not base price off of time, we price based off of the job. If this repair would have taken a different technician 3x as long, we would have charged the same amount. Our plumbers spend 4 years in school learning the plumbing trade. We charge for our plumbers abilities. I'm sorry your issues seemed simple to you but if we do not charge appropriately, there is no point in us coming out. I'm sure that if you compare our prices to other licensed plumbing companies, you would find that our prices are very competitive. It sounds like you would be more happy with a "handy man" who may take longer to do a simple repair, but charge less. Have a great day! Hope Plumbing

Hi [Removed Member Name], Using a 3rd party website to for emergency service is not going to get you an emergency response. We offer emergency service, which is the first option on our answering service. We offered you an appointment, to which you never responded and ultimately called upset when we never showed up! On top of that, you never left any contact information, so we didn't have a way to get ahold of you sooner or call you in regards to the appointment you never confirmed. Best, Christina Gregory Director of Operations
