They cleaned the drain and sold me some drain cleaner. They put on a new toilet seat. It went excellent and I am very picky. I have an older home and most plumbing companies would be quick to have you replace things, but these guys were able to fix the issue.

I had a leak in the plumbing behind my 2nd floor bathroom. I had cut a hole was cut in the 1st floor ceiling to diagnose the leak, and the Hope plumber quickly looked into the hole, and diagnosed (incorrectly) the leak coming from the roof vent (even though it had not rained in several days). As a result, I had to wait another day for a roofer to come out. The roofer inspected the roof vent, and ruled out any roofing issues. Therefore, I had to wait another day and I then called out a father/son plumbing team who looked into the same ceiling hole, and were able to ascertain that the leak was coming from a corroded pipe. The new plumber had the same access and looked at the exact same pipe/water damage and were able to quickly and correctly diagnose the simple problem. So basically, I got the impression that the Hope plumber just wished to collect the service charge and quickly ruled out an obvious plumbing issue. Their error also caused a weekend delay of the fix to the plumbing issue, which resulted in further water damage since the pipe leaked over the weekend after their incorrect diagnosis. In the end, I wasted $69.00 on the service charge and incurred further water damage due to their incorrect diagnosis.
Description of Work: I contacted Hope plumbing to diagnose the source of a 2nd floor plumbing leak, and they incorrectly and hastily diagnosed the roof as the source of the leak.

Hi [Member Name Removed], I'm sorry to hear this was not diagnosed properly. I really wish you would have called to discuss this with us. It's very frustrating to find out we did something wrong on a 3rd party website before ever hearing from the customer. I assure you, our $69 diagnosis fee does not cover our cost of sending a plumber to someone's home. It, in no way, benefits a plumber to go to a house and not plumb. I am confident 100% of business owners would tell you the same thing. I know we can't get you back the time you lost having to have 2 other contractors out, but I will refund you the $69 you paid to us. I will put a check in the mail today and send it to the service location. If you have any other questions or concerns, please feel free to call (317.641.4673) or email([email protected]) me at your convenience. Thank you. Christina Gregory Director of Operations

This was done at our rental property. It's an older home in Historical Little Flower. We were not there, but their plumber called us and gave us the estimate over the phone. He explained that he would have to drill a hole through the brick to route the drain line outside. That's all we were told. We figured since they specialize in older homes they would know what they were doing. We paid about $400 to replace the sump pump and about $500 to re-route the sump pump drain line outside instead of into the main sewer line. He drilled a hole in the brick like he said he would. Our tenant said that the plumber seemed a little surprised when he went outside and saw where the hole was on the back of the house. He muttered something to the effect of, "I didn't expect that." but then went on to snake 30 feet of pvc pipe all over the back yard. ABOVE THE GROUND! He was even nice enough to make sure the pipe could be disconnected and moved for mowing. I realize this isn't against code, but we since have had other plumbers come out to give us estimates and we've been told that this will cause us problems and that the Hope plumber certainly didn't think things through. And that we are now in worse shape than we were. Hope has offered to put everything back as it was and repair the brick at no charge. But, naturally, the new brick won't match the old brick of the home which could, quite possibly, affect the resale value of the home when we go to sell. Or, their other suggestion would be to re-route the plumbing through the basement, out the front of the home, digging a trench so the pipe will be underground, causing the water to flow out down the hill in the front yard and into the street. They estimated $1800 for that repair but offered to split the difference with us collecting $900 when the job is done. They do not intend to give us credit for the $500 we already paid. So, in essence, we will pay $1400 to have that job done and still have a patch job on the brick in the back of the house. The other plumbers that came to give us estimates to fix this mistake both said that they wouldn't have even suggested to re-route the sump like away from the main sewer line. Yes, this is against code, but it's an older home and that is grandfathered in. I will say that Hope has been in communication with us to find a solution to the issue. I get the impression that they do want to make this right. We just haven't been able to come to an agreement at this time.
Description of Work: Replaced the sump pump and re-routed the sump pump to drain outside instead of into the main sewer line which we were told is against code.

It is not the fact that their "better solution" did not work at all that had me so disappointed. Or even the fact that when they did install the clean out in the main stack the result looked completely amateurish. When the sewage began backing up through the drain after Hope "fixed" it we had another plumber come out to take a look. The next guy not only lamented the placement of their hack-job clean out install saying the height and angle of the placement made it almost unusable, but he actually found a clean out inside the house on the floor literally right next to the one that Hope had charged $1100 to install. He ran his snake out into the yard and confirmed our fears. That what Hope had done was not only completely unnecessary and ineffective, but essentially told us that no one respectable would even suggest such a fix for our problem. When I did call back and attempt to complain and get some sort of reparation the receptionist told me that the manager was currently out of the office and that they would call back later that day. Instead the receptionist called me back at the end of the day after the manager had already left to pass on a message. That message was that since we had signed off on the work there was nothing they were willing to do. Although they did say they would send someone back out to complete the whole home inspection that never took place from the first call. No thank you. Since then we have had 3 different plumbing companies come out to give us quotes on the actual fix and they were all in disbelief of the shoddy work that Hope had done installing a completely unnecessary clean out in the main plumbing stack.
Description of Work: We had Hope Plumbing out to our house twice within two weeks of purchasing our home. We knew there were some potential issues with the plumbing when we made the purchase including the fact that the toilet on the first floor leaked when flushed. So we had them come out for the "Toilet Tune-Up and Whole Home Inspection" that we had seen advertised here. The technician came out looked out the toilet and said that since it was an older model he was uncertain they would be able to find the parts to fix it and recommended replacing the whole unit. He then quoted us nearly $900 to replace it. ($600 for the toilet and $300 for installation). We said no thank you to that atrocious deal and he left without ever looking at another drain. I ended up buying a new toilet for less than $100 and installing it myself. A week later sewage began backing up through the drain in our basement. We made the mistake of calling Hope back out to take a look and clean out the sewer line. They were unable to locate a clean out inside or out in the yard, so told us we would have to install one. They gave us a couple of options, a cheaper one they said may not work and a really expensive one. They then decided they thought they had found a better solution which cost somewhere in the middle. They ended up installing the clean out in the main plumbing stack in the basement and using a snake to clean out the line. However a week later we had sewage backing up into the basement again.

Casey had done a lot of work for us when we first moved into the house and had done an excellent job. We requested him again and Hope was glad to accommodate. The faucet we were looking to replace was very unusual (essentially it was a close imitation of a Kohler faucet...but wasn't a Kohler). Casey did the research to track it down; similarly one of the toilets was non-standard and took some time to identify an arm that would work. As with our experience before, Casey was very professional and did excellent work. This series of jobs took place on three separate days over a period of about a month because it took time for some of the specialty parts to come in. On account of the amount of business we've done with Hope, Casey didn't charge extra for the emergency call. My only complaint is that on the last day, we had an 8-12 arrival time, but the first job of the morning ran long so he wasn't able to get to my house till about 2:30. I was able to work from home ok so it turned out all right for me, and I understand from experience the unexpected things that can come up on plumbing jobs.
Description of Work: During one of the cold days this winter, our dishwasher froze - our home is not new but is new to us, and we learned the hard way that the dishwasher box had not been properly insulated. Hope put in insulation and replaced the dishwasher. They also installed a new wall-mounted bathroom faucet, repaired all of our toilets, re-routed the drain for the whole-house humidifier, repaired the water pressure in the master bath, reworked the plumbing for the kitchen sink and dishwasher so they were on separate water shut-off, and in the middle of all this fielded an emergency call when there was evidence from the water bill that we had a major hidden leak in the house or yard (fortunately...there wasn't. It was just that the toilets had been running really, really badly).

If you are doing a restoration or new construction, I think this plumbing company would do a great job. If your cabinets and counter tops are already installed, and you want the faucets replaced (a bigger challenge to work in a confined space) I would not recommend this plumbing company (at $250/hour). I found out after the fact that this was the first time this plumber was trying to replace a faucet in an already installed hanging cabinet/counter top situation. He was 6 ft tall with larger than normal fingers (no fault of his own). After 3 hours he called for help (a smaller plumber with smaller fingers who can work inside the cabinet). All the plumbers were busy so that did not work out. To his credit he came up with the correct solution (sort of) - contact the person who installed the counter top. The plumber wanted to see if the counter top could be removed so the faucet could be installed easily, then replace the counter top. The handyman who installed the counter top (Danny Dunn - if you need a handyman, he's the best) said that was not an option - way too expensive. The handyman left his current work (nearby fortunately), came over, found a bench so he could lie on his back and slide into the cabinet, did the final work needed (about 10 minutes) and left (no charge). In hindsite, ask for a small plumber with small fingers if needing work done in an existing installation with cramped space. The plumber we had was professional, polite, hard working, don't-give-up attitude (he got it to the point where Danny needed 10 minutes to tighten things up), but was put in the wrong situation for his size and previous experience. The plumbing company should do a better job of asking more details about the work needed, then assign the correct plumber (small fingers, small build).

Had a perfect storm of toilet failure and the only way to make the water stop was turning off the entire water to the house. It was 10:45pm. Called Hope Plumbing. They were very nice and quick to respond. Their on call technician was at my house before 11:30pm. He was efficient and got the job done so we could have water again. And, for replacing two parts plus labor on a 24 hour call, I thought the charge was very fair. Highly recommend!

I was normally charged $198 to reignite my water heater which I've never come across it costing that much. The technician said that he can give me a deal and just charge $119. He came in and only pushed two buttons and was done with the job. I called the company before work started and asked what they charge for a service call and was advised $69 but that it doesn't include extra charges for labor but the technician didn't do any actual labor, he just pressed two buttons. I wouldn't refer this company to anyone.

Pricing was outrageous. It was obvious that the basic price was adjusted so the "coupon" would not cause the company to loose money. I chose to purchase a trim kit and install myself to save an extra 100.00 they were tagging onto the repair but the job was not finished in a manner in which I could easily install the trim kit. After cutting a check for almost 600.00, the tech was not even kind enough to just go over my trim kit install I was going to do after he left. He kept telling me that he would have to charge for any additional assistance...whatever. The valve was changed and I had a terrible time getting a proper fit on the tub handle and diverter. I continue to have a "leak" in the original spot and will be addressing this with the company. I will not pay for any additional service if needed. If it becomes an issue, I guess I will be writing another complaint at the next level. The work was not worth the price and the tech took a whole afternoon (including leaving for an hour to get a part). Sometimes trying to support local family businesses doesn't pay off. I do not recommend this company.

Great service. The guys came out and fixed everything in about 6 hours, which was way quicker than I expected. They were friendly and polite and so far everything seems to be working fabulously. They explained everything thoroughly and weren't weirded out when I asked them if they knew where my cat was. (I found him eventually) They also laid some extra pipe so we were able to connect to another PVC so there is no clay down there, put in a backwater valve, and gave me some advice regarding preventative maintenance. They were actually the third company we had out to quote, but they were our first choice after all was said and done. We are very happy with Hope. The guys that came out to do the quote were also very nice and thorough, and they cleaned out the utility sink drain and the floor, which was great because it was a swamp down there and I was doing laundry in the bathtub. They gave three option to choose from for repairs and extras. Also, the people I spoke to on the phone were super polite. Start to finish a very good experience.

There is a lesson here in the need for obtaining a range of quotes from Angie's List companies. I feel strongly that Hope Plumbing misled me. When I paid the fee of $69 I expected honest advice. If they were not able to repair a unit that is repairable then they should tell the customer that is the case, not give an estimate that is more than 15 times what the proper cost is. Customers should be warned. I will be writing to Hope Plumbing seeking a return of my $69. No service was provided.
Description of Work: Our water softener was malfunctioning and I requested a number of quotes from Angie's List companies to have either the unit repaired or replaced. Hope Plumbing, for the fee of $69, inspected the unit and told me that the softener could not be repaired and that a replacement would cost $1900. This would not include clearing the various facets blocked by the softener beads. Another company, Christian Electric, offered to replace the unit for $1200-1500. A third company inspected the unit for free and repaired it at a cost of $135.

To date, I have had three service calls related to the services above. The final result was having to ask them to leave my home. The two repaired leaky shower faucets worked initially - only required new Moen cartridges in the valve area. However, the day the service was performed, we started experiencing "water hammering" (pipes banging inside the wall behind the faucets). Note, we have not had this issue since we built the home in 2001. I called them back to find out why this was happening now. The only solution given was water pressure and was given a quote of $249 to have a pressure expansion tank installed. I declined the quote. Two months later, the shower faucet in one bathroom is leaking again and the other shower faucet is making a high-pitched noise. Again, I called for another service call. I explained to the plumber over the phone (before they arrived) what was going on and also provided an idea on a potential source for the water hammering. I was not able to be home for the service call. The plumber said the faucet was not leaking and that the water was pooling (meanwhile, the faucet is dripping on him). When my wife pointed out the obvious, he agreed that it was leaking. He said he would try to fix this but needed a couple hours to get the parts and return (or would have to return in not successful). This was unacceptable as we had been waiting for the service call for about 5 hours. He also said the water hammering was coming from under the tub (while the noise was coming from behind the shower faucet). The plumber also confronted my wife about her interrupting him three times as she was trying to explain and he was apparently more interested in telling her about all the problems. He had mentioned doing more work in the second bathroom rather than focusing on what this service call was about. Like mentioned earlier, we had three service calls, no success in getting the problem fixed and now have a new issue with the water hammering. The reason I selected this plumber was because they were running a $99 for $200 plumbing service Big Deal. From the beginning, I feel their whole intention was to find more revenue. The plumber on the first call presented me with three options to fix the leaky shower faucets and clogged drain. The quotes ranged from $1194 to $478 to $189. I contested that I had paid $99 for $200 worth of services. Finally, I received my $200 discount on the $478 option after a call to the office was made. If all i needed was two $39 Moen cartridges, why the $1194 option unless it was to maximize revenue. Actually, the quote of $478 was unrealistic in my opinion, but they can tell you about labor ($$$) and service call that eats up the $200 worth of plumbing services in a hurry (specially sending two men to do the work).

We take our relationship with Angie’s List and their customers very seriously but it is hard to take this complaint seriously as it is so inaccurate. It is also bothersome that instead of contacting Hope Plumbing for any resolutions, they choose to taint our good reputation by leaving a terrible, inaccurate review. Altho it's never a great thing when you have to call a plumber, the guys from Hope made it painless!! They were professional, pleasant and competent and provided an explanation of all my options, the cost and did a "show and tell" along the way so I was well informed each time. I have finally found a plumbing company that I have faith in. I have had 3 other companies work on a drainage issue and none of them resolved the problems. Hope Plumbing ( Ryan and Dylan ) arrived and listened to my plumbing complaints. They looked the plumbing system over, took video of the issues and told me what they had found. Ryan then wrote up an estimate with 3 diferent options that he felt would correct the problems. The estimate was reasonable so I chose the first option which included running new drain lines in the problem area, snaking the drains in the house, replacing a plumbing vent and taking care of the area in the crawlspace that was wet. I then asked about replacing the sump pump so Ryan went into the crawlspace, examined it and took a video of it so I could see it. He told me that it still worked but it was probably the original sump pump for the house which is 24 years old. He gave me a price to replace it and I agreed to have it done. To my surprise they went to work right away so I didn't have to wait to have the work done. They completed several of the minor issues, got the major issues ready for repair and then left to eat lunch, get the material and sump pump. They returned and got right back to work and completed the job. Everything was tested and worked flawlessly. They cleaned up after their work. Ryan and Dylan were excellent. They were personable, professional, respected our home (wore footies over their work boots) and super efficient. They worked hard and seemed genuinely interested in correcting my plumbing issues. It should be noted that they were here when they said they would be. They also called when they were enroute to our home just like they said they would. I would most definitely have Hope Plumbing work on any plumbing tasks I have and I would recommend them to anyone that has a plumbing issue.

disposal and saved $180 on that item. The ball valve required minimal soldering and we would not have been able to do that ourselves. I know that the charge for that item was over $400 and it should not have been that expensive. During all of this going on, I did call Hope Plbg and asked to speak with the manager. The advertised price on the Angie's List website for Hope Plumbing "Big Deals" was not accurate and I didn't appreciate being mislead. Their explanation was that it had not been updated for a year! A good manager would make sure that their website was up-to-date. She did offer to honor that expired price but I declined due to going and getting my own disposal from Lowe's. While the technician was very polite and capable, I do not plan to use Hope Plbg. ever again due to their ridiculous prices. Even with 5% off due to being an Angie's List member, it was still too high.
Description of Work: I had 3 relatively simple plumbing repairs....replacing the tank assembly inside the toilet, replacing a garbage disposal, and replacing a 1" ball valve on the irrigation line for our yard. I requested service online Sunday night for Monday but by 9:30 a.m. still had not heard from them. I called and had to give all information again. Knowing what needed to be done, I thought that the supplies would be placed on the truck but they apparently were not. Since the prices are based on the job and not the labor hours, it wasn't a big deal that the tech had to run out for supplies. They wanted $179 to replace the toilet tank assembly! I opted out of that one thinking that we can do it ourselves. They wanted $479 to replace the disposal! I ran to Lowe's and bought the very same

He arrived within an hour after I called and the leak was able to be repaired. He provided options and costs for the repair. He also took a look at my garbage disposal and explained why it was acting the way it was. He was very professional and quick. I would highly recommend them and I will call again when I need a plumber.

It went great. We have had some issues with the kitchen sink backing up in our older home. Previously, one of this company's larger national competitors told me I needed to replace my garbage disposal. I didn't do it then, but I purchased one in advance of this appointment and planned on having Hope install it. My technician, Charlie, explained that there was nothing wrong with my garbage disposal and that the previous service provider was just trying to upsell me. Charlie fixed the clog and provided some helpful tips to avoid future issues. A great experience and I will definitely be using Hope in the future.
Description of Work: Snaked our kitchen sink and replaced our bathroom faucet.
