GRANITE BY DESIGN INC

I got this off Angie's List. His customer service was over the top. I have a very small kitchen and it was more astounding to me as he was willing to come and do all that for me considering that it wasn't going to be a big deal for him. I liked his customer service. He is your typical stone man, he is kind of gruff and the fact that he was willing to go the extra yard for somebody that was unable to do what most people were able to do was just great. He had workers with him, but when he came to do the original, he came by himself. They were fast and thorough. I have a very small kitchen and it was done very quickly, it was just a single slab. I would recommend others to use them.

Dave is a class act! I would use him in a heart beat!

I contacted Dave after reading so many positive reports on Angie's List. Dave came to my house, did a quick measure of my kitchen and provided an initial estimate. We then went together to look at slabs of granite. Dave was invaluable in this process as he could tell me what would work and wouldn't work in terms of my kitchen design and that particular piece of stone. While I thought I had a found a piece of stone, I wasn't completely happy so we went to look at a second place where I found the stone of my dreams. Dave then came back to my house to take final measurements and make my kitchen countertops. It was less than a week when he and his team came to install them. I cannot say enough good things about working with Dave. His attention to detail is unsurpassed. I have one seam where the countertops meet and they painstakingly worked to match the seam as closely as possible. It's barely noticeable. Dave is a perfectionist with his work and it shows in my kitchen. Dave is a consummate professional and I will recommend him without any hesitation. In fact, I would go as far to say that he should be anyone's first choice when considering who to use for granite countertops.

Dave came out to give us a quote and met with my husband. My husband didn't get all of the facts straight on what I wanted so Dave willingly came out a second time to meet with me to make sure that I was comfortable with the quote. I already purchased a sink for the project that Dave did not think would look as good as a stainless sink as I have all stainless appliances. He suggested purchasing a stainless sink instead but would do whatever I wanted. He was very careful how he approached the subject. I am so glad he did. The stainless sink looks so good. Thanks Dave for saving me making a decision I would have regretted! The kitchen looks fantastic! Dave went the extra mile to make sure I was happy! Am already talking to him about doing my bathrooms.

Dave Esslinger, owner of company, actually went granite shopping with me. Had my heart set on a stone I had seen two years ago at the Home Show. He patiently took me to several granite warehouses to find exactly what I wanted. Came to home to make a template. Stone came perfectly cut and Dave was there for complete installation. Very professional. There is only one seam in the entire kitchen, which is hard to find. I give Dave my highest recommendation.

We were ready to order our countertops on a large kitchen remodel, and didn?t have a clue on who to use. My wife and I had contacted several fabricators, but we never felt comfortable with any of them. Their showrooms looked great, were professional, but felt they were just trying to sell us some stone, and that was all. With nowhere else to go, I tried Angie?s List and Dave of ?Granite by Design?. Dave does not have a fancy shop or a large sales force, but what he does have is pride of workmanship and old school talent. He was a pleasure to work with from start to finish, and had some great ideas on how to get the most out of a single piece of stone. There?s a reason why Dave has so many A?s . I would not hesitate to use him again, or recommend him at any of my friends.

Start to finish, I was impressed. Dave came to my house answered all my questions (he is very knowledgeable) and provided me with a very competitive offer. I had not yet decided on the type of granite or faucet, so Dave told me to call him with any questions and let him know when I was ready. I really appreciated that he did not try to pressure me into making a decision. Once I had made up my mind, Dave was very accommodating in working around my schedule to take the final measurements and meet me at the granite distributor to pick out the perfect piece of granite for my kitchen. 2 weeks later his crew installed the new countertops. When I got home that night I noticed that the island was missing an 11 inch overhang. I felt bad bringing this to his attention because he had been so helpful through the process. However, as soon as I mentioned it, he sighed and apologized for getting it wrong. His crew came out 2 days later and installed a corrected piece of granite without any hint of potential cost. Overall, it was one of the best experiences I have had with a contractor and I highly recommend this company.

They had really great rating on Angieslit which was the reason why we chose them. The owner was the person who talked to us and did the measuring. He was just really a great guy. They were neat. We upgraded our garbage disposal for no extra charge. We did some work in our island and he did that for free. He was very personable and came out to the site where we picked up the granite and told us which ones will be better for what we were using it for. I have recommended him to my son.

We had contacted several granite companies and choose Dave because of his ratings on Angie's list. His style was very professional and low pressure. On his first trip to the house in he took rough measurements, gave us his quote and a list of granite warehouses. After looking at slabs of granite for 5 months we finally settle on 2 choices. Dave then met us at the warehouse and helped us make the final selection. His next trip out to the house he took final measurements. After Christmas, he and his crew installed the kitchen counter-tops. They took 4-5 hours to finish the installation. Dave stayed there the whole time except at the end when his plumber was finishing. The granite was beautiful and they did a great job installing except for one minor issue with the backsplash which he came out to fix a few days later. The biggest criticism that I had with the installation was that they did a very poor job cleaning up. They had to cut my old countertops off because of the way they were installed and because of the corner appliance garage. There was sawdust (and even nails) all over the inside of the cabinets and on the floor! They did only a superficial cleaning. It took us hours to properly clean later. I also discovered they scratched my refrigerator paint when they moved it to get the old countertops out.

We have contacted several (approximately ten) companies having the best rates in Angie's list. Dave with Granite by Design was the one who not only gave us the best price, but also was honest in calculating the area of our countertops (on which the price estimate is based). Moreover, he was the only one who was willing to undermount our ceramic sink, provided we were ok with him picking it up the day before installation for proper stone cutting. All the other companies refused to undermount the sink because of the risk and the additional work required. Dave did an excellent job from beginning to end. He came with us to the granite distributors to select the stone (no one of the other companies were available to do that). After the stone was selected, everything was done in 10 days. No mess, no problem, no complaints. And we are very picky. Dave did an excellent job, very competent and honest. We strongly recommend him!

To start, my wife is very hard to please and like most women change their mind often. She wanted granite that was not the same as what you see all over the city, but something with "character" so when you walk into her kitchen you say "WOW". I contacted several granite companies and choose Dave because of his ratings on Angie's list. I had expected his quote to be higher because of that, however he was very competitive and easy to work with. His style was very professional and low pressure. On his first trip to the house he took rough measurements, gave me his quote and made several suggestions since I was planning to do the tile back splash work myself. He gave us a list of granite warehouses and we went looking at slabs and slabs and slabs of granite. Once we got close to our final choice, Dave met us at the warehouse and spent the time to educate us on the various choices and helped make the final selection. His next trip out to the house he took final measurements and recommended the layout, etc. About a week later he and his crew installed the kitchen counter-tops. I couldn't believe how easy everything went. The were fast, friendly and proficient. What I like most was that Dave was there the whole time working and making sure the job was done right. He was extremely patient with our questions and changes throughout the whole process. The tops required one seam and it is so small and tight you have to look for it or you could never tell it was there. I stood and watched the whole time and you could tell Dave took pride in his work.The job was so fantastic we later had him cut a top for the bath vanity from the same granite. My wife came home that night and said "WOW". That just about says it all! Needless to say I would use him again and highly recommend his work.

Dave came out and gave me an estimate on the spot for replacing the counter top in the kitchen (including the sink and faucet), bar and 2 bathrooms (including the sink for each). His price included removal of the existing counters and the plumbing required for the project. He gave me a list of granite suppliers and said he'd meet me at them to pick out the granite; I could look without him, but he needed to be there for the final selection to verify the pricing for the piece selected and to verify the availability of the quantity required for the project. It seemed odd to me that he should have to babysit me in this process...until I visited the warehouse(s) and was in complete awe of the selection available, then I understood. I decided to "preview" the 4 warehouses he listed so I could get an idea of what was available and what I liked in order to not waste his time (that's a "me" thing, not a Dave thing), then met up with him for the final selection. Dave provides pricing for "standard" granite, but makes it VERY clear up front the final price depends upon the granite selected. Of course, I liked a more expensive piece - however, Dave took great care to point out pieces that were in the "standard" price (which, by the way, were all beautiful) as well as immediately told me what the increase in price would be for the piece I liked; since I'd done the previews, I had a good idea of what would be considered an upgrade. There were absolutely no surprises in the end, the final price was exactly what he quoted plus the price for the upgraded selection. Unfortunately for my wallet - but fortunately for my home - I got my heart set on the more expensive piece. And I'm glad I did, it's exactly what I wanted and is beautiful. Dave did a great job; there are a couple of paint touch-ups required where the counter top runs wall-to-wall so removal of the existing counter was difficult, which I fully expected, and no touch-up needed anywhere else. They cleaned up after they were done and I am a very happy camper.

Excellent job. Dave was very knowledgeable and easy to work with. I knew nothing about granite or countertops and he took me through the process step by step. He was very helpful in helping me select the correct stones, since we needed 2 pieces for this rather large project. I purchased the sink and faucet package which was a great deal and very good products. The plumber who installed it said it was an excellent faucet; he also did a very good job. The whole process from estimate to installation was flawless. I had expected a much more complicated process. It was truly painless. I would recommend him to anyone. My new kitchen looks abslutely great! Wonderful job Dave

I first contacted Dave over the phone to receive an approximate cost to add granite in my kitchen. With my measurements, he was able to instantly provide me with an estimate, though the final price cannnot be given until you choose the granite and Dave takes his own measurements. We met at his favorite granite supplier to choose the granite. He uses several locations, so if you don't find anything at first, you can keep looking. I expected to visit multiple suppliers, as it took me 6 1/2 years to select paint colors in my house. Dave and I walked the warehouse, and much to my surprise, we narrowed it down to 2 very different yet beautiful pieces. The warehouse will move your selections up to the front of the warehouse so they can be viewed side by side. The entire selection process was quick and quite easy. After my granite was chosen, Dave had the warehouse hold two pieces for me, just in case there was a problem with one piece. Within days, Dave was at my house after work taking measurements and giving me the final price...which was below the initial estimate. Based on Angie's List member reports, I knew I would hire Dave as long as the price was fair. I didn't find the need to shop around too much. To simplify my life, I ordered the package that includes the solid stainless faucet and 16 gauge stainless sink. That was a very wise purchase. A week and a half later, Dave and his men arrived at my house on my day off for the install. Demo was done prior to their arrival. Install took approximately an hour or so. My kitchen is now STUNNING!!!!! It is everything I hoped it would be and more. Dave was fabulous and made this such an easy process for me. He even made a matching lazy susan, which is beautiful. Thanks Dave for the excellent service. I would recommend him to everyone.

It went wonderful. They were very professional and it was a great value.

Very good! Among 3 other bidders, Dave's price was competitive but his responsiveness and knowledge was the deciding factor. Dave knows his stone. Dave out-sources the plumbing but the rest of the crew are his employees. I liked his business model better than a couple others that use 3rd party crews for everything. After initial measurements, stone selection (with Dave at the stone wholesaler), final measurements and roughly a week in Dave's shop, he comes out with his crew and has the whole project done by early afternoon. We had him attend to a couple of minor installation issues which he did without question. We did not do a tile backsplash so there was a little painting and caulking work that I did (just above the backsplash) once the project was complete.

It went wonderfully. Dave was very responsive, incredibly knowledge, reasonably priced and is master of his craft. He helped me keep my prices low by providing more conservative options. His team is great and they did an awesome job. I couldn't have been happier with the results. He also has a plumper on staff, Mike Maxwell, so you do not have to hire additional people. I recommend this company to all my friends. He also provided granite "scraps".

Excellent experience! Dave was the best. He came to the house to explain the entire process and give an estimate; he met me at the granite warehouse and spent time explaining what to look for, what to avoid, and how to make the best selection. He was available and responsive throughout the entire process, and was extremely accommodating. The granite was installed today and I am thrilled.The whole process took about 3 hours, the crew was quick, professional and thorough. And the final result is amazing. I am impressed and I really enjoyed this entire experience. Dave Rocks!

Very well. The plumber they used did a good job as well with the hookups; he had to order in a part for our water filter system, but got it installed two days later when it came in.

Dave came to give us a quote on our countertops last year. We decided to wait a year to do the project, but Dave still honored the price he quoted us a year ago. We picked out granite at the warehouse, Dave had it templated and cut within a week. The entire project start to finish took 2 weeks. Dave and his guys were super professional and lightning fast! They had the entire kitchen torn apart and reassembled in two hours. I highly recommend Dave!!!

I worked with Dave. We went to a granite yard in the Indianapolis area and looked at products. I got some pricing with him, but haven?t made my decision yet. His response was very quick and he is very easy to work with. He?s not pushy at all.

Dave Esslinger was a pleasure to meet and work with throughout our whole process from selection of the granite to the installation and we learned alot about granite. The experience could not have been any easier. Dave came out to give us an estimate the day after our contact. His price was the best out of three and he met us a couple of days later to choose the granite. He was helpful with the selection and did not pressure us to buy more than we could afford. He came out as soon as we had our sink to take specific measurements and was back in about 8 days with the finished product. His crew was punctual, and professional. I could not believe they removed the old countertop without damaging the tile backsplash. They were finished that day and the countertop looks great! We had a minor leak with the plumbing and Dave's plumber was back ASAP to make an adjustment. I would recommend him to anyone!!! I'm sure we'll have him back to replace bathroom countertops soon.

This was a great experience. Dave was on site the entire time and spent a lot of time discussing different options. He had the best price out of the other 10 members I called with A ratings. The company was very flexible in scheduling the work since I had a few unplanned events occur during this time. I feel confident to recommend Dave and his team! They did a super job for me and my counters look great.

Things went very well. After three estimates we decided to go with Granite by Design. You could not find a more qualified person. We found Dave to be very knowledgeable and easy to work with. He was extremely patient with us in picking out the granite. He took us to many places to look at granite including taking us to his house to see his granite counter tops. We also were taken to his work shop where Dave showed us how it would be laid out. We also appreciate that Dave is an hands on person in making and installing the counter tops not just an estimator.
