+ 1 moreThis is my second experience with Justin, Barb, Billy, and Leslie - it was just as great as the first. The pergola installation was completed ahead of schedule, and they replaced (free of charge) new plants and reseeded areas that were installed in the fall, but did not make it through the winter. This group is always prompt and pleasant. They do quality work and are always receptive and accommodating to our needs. I look forward to using them again for our next project this fall.

The crew was timely, worked well around the comings and goings of a busy family, and left the job site spotless at the end of every day. The workmanship is really top-notch, and the communication among the team and with me was excellent throughout the process. I can't recommend Capehart Landscape and Design highly enough!!
Description of Work: I selected Capehart Landscape and Design for multi-phase hardscape and landscape project at my residence. The landscaping was overgrown and outdated, and from the moment I first met the landscape architect and starting talking about my vision, I knew I had selected the right company! The design incorporated all the elements I was looking for and presented me with some options that I hadn't originally considered.

The pergola looks great. Throughout the whole process, Barb, Billy and Justin were great to work with, and I felt comfortable with them from the beginning. I would highly recommend them.

Description of Work: In the spring of 2017 Capehart Landscape & Design tilled a large area around our garage and planted winter creeper in that heavily shaded area where grass would not grow. The company also reconfigured the area next to the street, replacing the culvert and excavating a ditch so rainwater would flow through the culvert instead of backing up into the yard. Both jobs were performed excellently with the desired effect that the yard now drains properly. Two years ago we had the company remove an old flagstone patio and replace it with new bricks and plantings. At that time the company also installed new plantings and underground irrigation around the perimeter of the house.

+ 0 moreGreat group of people to work with - pleasant and professional. Leslie (designer) worked diligently to incorporate all of our wants into the design and was prompt to answer my many questions. Justin (owner) and Billy (foreman) were on site everyday of construction and they too were quick to respond to any concern and easily adapted to changes in design. It all started with the first call to Barb. Not only was she the first of several companies to respond; she was the only one that made us feel as though we were going to get quality service and customer service throughout - ironically, we had not met, until she showed up the very next day after she heard we weren’t satisfied with just one of the 30 something plants and trees we purchased - and it was promptly replaced with several others to choose from. I will have them out next year for phase 2.
Description of Work: Removed and replaced old patio. Installed a second patio with fire pit. Removed and replaced dead and diseased trees and shrubs. Redesigned, extended, and mulched existing much beds. Pruned remaining trees, removed and treated for weeds. Built and installed window planting box.

After a thorough review of construction materials, warranty, and the trust factor it was a simple decision to go with Capehart. Justin and team are very professional from start to finish. It is nice to know there are still contractors who don't cut corners and take pride in their work. Capehart offers a 6 year warranty on hardscaping whereas competitive companies only offered 2 years. This speaks volumes of the quality and craftmanship of the work they perform. I would highly recommend Capehart for any hardscaping or landscaping project. They are a professional and honest company.

+ 0 moreIt went great. Spoke with Barb Capehart on the phone first. We discussed my landscaping needs and she chose one of their designers, Robin, who she thought would be a good fit. Robin came out to the house to see the area that needed work. She had lots of great ideas, she even suggested we relocate and reuse some of the healthy existing plants. Through our discussion she came up with a great design. After that, she drew out a plan on paper for our approval. Due to budget concerns, we made a few small design changes then Barb put us on their schedule. On the day the work was scheduled to be done, they started promptly at 9am. Robin was there and went through the design with both myself and the landscapers so we were all on the same page. They completed the job that day and left our property completely cleaned up and looking beautiful. I emailed Barb to let her know how happy we were with the job. We would definitely hire them again and recommend Capehart Landscape and Design to everyone we know. x
Description of Work: We needed the edging around our flower beds on the front and side of our house, as well as around our mailbox redefined and replanted.

+ -1 moreCapehart did an excellent job, from the initial design, to the finished product for our back yard outdoor living space. They installed all landscape materials, constructed a beautiful paver patio, and paver overlay of our concrete porch with meticulous detail. They also installed a one of a kind water feature, all of which we will enjoy for years to come! They also completely re-graded, contoured, and seeded our back yard, which was quite frankly, left a total mess by the builders. We now have new grass growing, and will be enjoying a full green yard soon! Justin Capehart, the owner, was intimately involved with the project and was on-site during most of the process. The Capehart crew was very professional, completed the job in a timely manner, and took pride in leaving our property in great shape, at the end of each work day, and especially at the end of the job. We could not be happier with every aspect of dealing with Capehart. We really feel like we got more than our monies worth, and will use Capehart for all of our future landscape & landscape maintenance needs.

+ 1 moreJustin and crew showed up on time and started working right away. Mike, the onsite foreman, and the rest of the crew were very professional and focused on following the design plan. Mike led the crew but he also worked as hard as the other crew members. Mike said I could observe any of the work and he would answer any questions or concerns we had about the project. On several occasions I saw Mike and the crew move plants several times to make sure the best side of the plant was facing forward. Mike even moved several stones three or four times before he was satisfied with the presentation of the rocks. No matter how late in the evening the worked the crew cleaned up every day before they left. When you see a team pay attention to this level of detail you know they enjoy their work and take enormous pride in what they do. Justin, David, Mike and his crew gave us dedicated hard work that resulted in a beautiful and high quality landscaped yard. I will use Capehart Landscape & Design for any landscape projects we have. We experienced why Justin gets the Super Service Award. My wife and I Highly Recommend Capehart Landscape & Design for any landscape work you may have.
Description of Work: I looked around for a company to landscape our front and side yard. After talking to several companies I decided to use Capehart Landscape & Design. I called and left a message and in short order got a call back. It was suggested a designer, David, come out and discuss what we were thinking about. David was very professional and attentive to our thoughts about the design. David brought a detailed design that showed where plants and stonework would go. He also provided an itemized list that included the recommended plants or stones, size, quantity and price of each. Dave listened to our concerns and in short time provided and updated plan. I had questions about the recommended stone products so Justin, the Owner, agreed to meet me at The Stone Center on a Saturday. He answered all my questions and even took me around the center to see various stone products and then took me offsite to show me the exact stone he suggested to build the retaining wall and walk path we requested. After meeting and talking with Justin I felt very comfortable with having Justin do our landscaping project. The project included designing and adjusting the plan, preparing soil for plants, building two stone down spout catch basins, installing two rock walk paths, building a stone retaining wall , placing rocks throughout the plants and spreading a high quality mulch in all planting areas. The project would take three days and we scheduled a date to have the materials delivered and start work on the project.

+ 3 moreThe work was satisfactory but they never returned to reseed the grass areas that did not grow. Subsequently I have muddy bare areas of lawn. In the spring I will need to hire another company to relay the flagstone and fix the lawn. The original cost if the job was over $10,000. I would never hire this company again.
Description of Work: Paver patio installed, raised vegetable gardens completed and flower beds made larger. Also a flagstone walkway done, mulch laid and grass planted. Unfortunately I placed a favorable review when the project was completed. I didn't know they would never return to complete the job.

This meant extra care had to be taken and all debris going out and materials coming in had to go over the wall. Justin Capehart and his foreman, Mike, and the crew worked very hard. The end result was excellent.
Description of Work: I needed to have an attached patio with old pavers and plants all taken out and a new design with new pavers and landscaping installed. Also, a natural gas outlet was installed for a grill.

+ 0 moreWe wanted a small paver patio and Capehart was very professional and accommodating. We got three quotes and the other companies didn't acknowledge our needs, or wanted to upsell. Capehart's designer listened to what we wanted and the final product is a cozy 10x12 ft patio that is perfect for us! Our yard has a bit of a slope to it, so they graded the dirt and to our surprise they even seeded it and put down a layer of straw. We are very happy with our new patio and wouldn't hesitate to hire again!

+ 0 moreOverall the job went very well and I highly recommend Justin and the Capehart team. We had a bowing and cracked retaining wall that needed to be replaced. I met with 3 of the best rated hardscape companies on Angie's List for estimates. One estimate was 15% less and the second was slightly cheaper than Capehart, but ultimately I decided on Justin Capehart because I believed the job would be completed at a better quality than the competitors. When tearing out the old wall, it was discovered that our sump pump exits our basement behind the retaining wall, it was leaking, and this is what was causing our issue. Justin notified me of what he found, showed me the how the old pipe was improperly connected, and fixed the issue with the right plumping parts and connections. He also had to cut out cinder blocks that were formed into our basement wall and then patch the cement before creating the new retaining wall. While I was prepared to pay extra for the unforeseen work and materials, Justin actually found savings in the job. Despite the extra work, the final invoice was $370 less than his original estimate. This was exceptionally honest on his part as I would have never known the difference. Capehart's quality, workmanship and honesty were exceptional and I will be calling them for future landscape jobs.

+ -1 moreThe workers arrived on time and set to work immediately. It took almost the entire day, but when they left, the yard was covered with straw as I expected. I was given a watering schedule which I followed as directed. It also helped that we've had a wet May and June. After about two weeks the grass began to show and I have even had to mow it a couple times. However I'm a little disappointed with the "patchiness" of it. There are areas where it looks like no grass seed was planted at all. Justin said that it takes two years for the grass to take hold. But so far it's hard to see if the grass is filling in. At least the yard is now even. It's easier to mow and to walk on. I would have appreciated a follow up by Justin to see if I was satisfied with the results or at least a confirmation that the grass was doing what it is supposed to do.
Description of Work: Removed all the grass in my back yard, evened out the soil, laid out more soil, reseeded the yard and covered it all with straw. Also reworked a patch in the front of the house and the side yard.

+ 2 moreWaited 2 weeks for estimate appointment as I was told estimates are done on Mondays. Justin came when scheduled on Monday June 6th. We reviewed our needs then Justin said he would measure and mail and estimate. I requested an email estimate but was told they use US Mail two forward estimates. As of Friday June 17th we have received no follow-up call nor written estimate. Our job we shared with Justin is small so I'm not sure if that has something to do with this company's lack of Interest. However a phone call or a written notification indicating they had no interest would have been appropriate. Justin's name came to us from one of our clients Capehart had previously worked for. In my opinion he does good work and the end result was excellent at our client's home. Disappointed Justin has not developed better business practices than our experience with Capehart.
