Rubber baffle in garbage disposal was dry and brittle and needed to be replaced. I purchased what Home Depot said was the proper seal/baffle and tried to install myself. Could not get disposal to proper position for sealing without pinching rubber seal and therefore it would not seal. I called Village and they sent a technician to reseat the disposal. Charge was to be so much per hour plus fuel charge. Total was to be less than $100.00. Technician could not get disposal to reseat properly either. Said the seal/baffle could only be gotten from InSinkErator itself and would take 2 - 3 weeks. Result? Buy and have him install a new InSinkErator for about $450. New disposal is supposed to have an extended warranty from manufacturer, but dealer's certification # is required, and that has never been provided to me so I can send in the paperwork for this warranty.
Description of Work: Had difficulty with seal on garbage disposal. Ended up having to have a new disposal installed. Because technician did not have a replacement seal for my garbage disposal, the only alternative was to leave existing one unhooked for 2 - 3 weeks and order one from InSinkErator or get a new disposal installed.

Kevin was great!! So was the office contact who scheduled my appointment. As a bonus, they had history, going years back to the previous owners, so they were able to give me the history of my heating and cooling units! I wouldn't hesitate a moment to recommend them to anyone!
Description of Work: My A/C wasn't working well. The air could not get cool enough to cool the house to what the thermostat was set to reach. I called Broad Ripple Heating and Air Conditioning. They sent Kevin out right away. Kevin took the time to explain everything to me in detail. He sold me on the Plus plan, which will save me money in the long run because it includes a check-up for our heater, which we were going to get this fall anyway.

There was a problem with the outdoor part of the system that the technician told me he found by accident. He wasn't going to check for it. I thought it was something that should have been included in the normal work covered by the service agreement. He agreed with me. Also, the first time this call was scheduled (months in advance), the service tech never showed up. I was supposed to be the first call in the AM and had stayed home specifically for this reason. The scheduler barely apologized, saying they were overbooked. When I called to reschedule (because of their error), they did absolutely nothing to get me quickly back on the schedule with a first call. I had to wait several more weeks.
Description of Work: They inspected the air conditioning system. The service was prepaid as part of a three-call package I purchased last year.

The repairman first looked at the label to see how old the furnace was and asked if I knew it was 20 years old and it should be replaced. I told him I knew it was old but would like to try and get another year out of it if possible. He poked something into the motor, turned the furnace on and it worked. He said it really wasn't reliable;I needed a new furnace. I asked how much to replace the part anyways;$300. I told him how the furnace acted when the gas man tried to light it and he said it shouldn't do that;there was another broken part;$300, but I really need a new furnace. He then pointed out another part that he thought was bad;$300, but I need a new furnace. He started pulling wires saying it was miswired and the furnace stopped working. He then said he had it wired OK now, but the thermostat was now broken. He checked it to be sure that no wires had be burnt when he was pulling wires but he said it wasn't that. However, the theromstat had been working fine before that.
Description of Work: Some sort of exhaust motor in the furnace did not turn on when the gas company hooked up the gas so the furnace would not stay lit. They showed me the part that was not working and said it was an $85$100 part. I asked if I needed to mention anything special when I called and they said no. It was a standard part that any repair man should have on the truck. When I asked if I should just have the furnace replaced, they said not necessarily, just have a repairman look at it, but overall, they thought just replacing the motor would be fine for right now. I called Broad Ripple to have them check/replace the motor.

I bought a package deal (buy 2 visits and get the 3rd one free). They came out and told me that my compressor needed replaced so that it would meet code. They ended up saving me money by having it replaced by the end of this year to meet EPA guidelines. On the second visit they replaced my compressor. On the 3rd visit, they were to service the furnace. All three visits were done professionally and they cleaned up after themselves. I have used them since I moved to Indy 12 years ago, and they always go above and beyond. Even wearing the little footies when coming in my home.

Besides not being available the day it happened, everything went well. They came out the next day, evaluated the scene, snaked the drain and the drain is running great now. The plumber was efficient, clean and friendly.
Description of Work: Snaked out basement drain that had backed up the day before after our water softener recycled water into it (probably from years of buildup) and flooded our basement floor.

The plumber (Mark, I believe) came on a Friday, and said he would have to research the toilet and the parts to see if he could get an appropriate replacement for the defective part. On Monday he called and said he was still trying to get the necessary information. On Wednesday, he called and said he could not fix the toilet because he could not find an appropriate replacement part. I called a retired plumber we had used in the past and, over the phone, he told me what part needed to be replaced (a Fluidmaster 242 seal) and where to get it (Economy Plumbing). The part cost $1.83. I replaced it and the problem was solved.
Description of Work: The desired work was to repair a toilet in which the water would not stop running when the tank was full. The toilet is a low slung one piece toilet manufactured in 1985.

Came when they were supposed to, explained what they were doing and didn't make a mess. Had a rather large vacuum to use in all the ducts. Had a second vacuum to clean out around the openings.

It did not go well for the system did not work well and they had to come out a second time for first technician bent the thermal expansion unit on 1st install. House was still not cooling well and I got an excuse that my duct work was not sufficient which is not true since the system was working the previous summers.

Lance arrived within 15-minutes of the call from the dispatcher. I had called to schedule a drain cleaning job about 45-minutes earlier. He did a super job.
Description of Work: Lance, the technician arrived about one hour after the call was made to schedule a call to unclog a floor drain in the basement. He quoted the price before starting the job. He was able to clear the drain within 30-minutes.

Pete Zoog quoted the job and scheduled installation within a week. James and Jerry, the technicians, worked well together. While one was outside drilling/chipping brick for the new PVC flue system, the other was inside dismantling the old furnace. I was surprised that they were able to complete the job in as little time that it took. Anyone who is fortunate enough to have the "J" guys work on their heating/AC will be well satisfied with their work. Too bad I don t have another project for them!
Description of Work: Jerry & James arrived at 8:45 AM. They completely removed the old furnace, old electronic air filter, part of the ductwork and the old condensate drain line for the AC. The old flue pipe that went to the chimney was removed and the hole sealed. The new furnace was put in place with a new humidifier and new BMAC filter. New ducts were fabricated to fit the existing cold air returns and the plenum. A new PVC flue system was installed as well as a new PVC condensate drain line. A new programmable digital thermostat was installed as well as one to control the humidifier. All old parts and trash were removed and the floor swept clean. They were finished by 3:45.

Estimation of time charged to complete job was generous (30 hour to drive over, when it can be walked in 5). Asked for estimate for other work, had to keep calling and eventually a second plumber came over to re-inspect, what needed to be done and provide estimate.

Started up the furnace for the first time this season. It blew hot air for about 10 minutes, then crapped out, blowing only room temp air. Called the company to schedule a no heat service on Friday, and they sent their man on Monday. He arrived tonight, diagnosed the problem, and set us up for future communication with the company. Service technician is great, friendly, and always welcome. I'm not pleased that it took three days for a preferred customer, but it's the season. I'm also not happy that I had a appt. scheduled for this afternoon and he showed up at 8 p.m., but again, I suppose it's the season.

I called Village Plumbing after reading many good reviews and was looking for a company that had expertise with older homes. We have never had any luck with plumbers and were looking for a good experience. Andy came to the house and spent a good amount of time reviewing the work to be done and discussing options. It is clear that Andy is very knowledgeable and old homes do not frighten him away. He is pleasant and reliable, neat and honest. The work was performed and Andy kept us informed and updated during the process. The new fixtures look great. The drains work much better now. Overall, we are pleased. The only complaint is that the estimates did not arrive in a timely fashion. I called twice before finally getting initial estimate faxed over. I also asked Andy to give me a quote on replacing a toilet and fixing a leaky faucet and I have not heard from him after 3 weeks. Work is great, communication could be better.
Description of Work: Replaced plumbing fixtures (faucet, showerhead) in 3 bathtubs in 1938 home. Also cleaned out drains and replaced tub waste and overflow units.

The repairman was professional and very helpful. We have an old air conditioner, but he did not tell us that it should be replaced. He did not try to sell us unwanted/unneeded services.
Description of Work: There were several hot spots around the house. The repairman found a disconnected vent line and reconnected it. In addition he adjusted the vent valves to more evenly distribute air flow in the house.

Village was great. They were honest and gave us the best estimate. Most importantly, they explained why what another company was recommending was not only ridiculous, but also a rip off.
