I had called to have 3 companies come and quote on masonry work we needed done. Out of the 3 companies contacted from Angie's List who had come out to examine the work, I felt extremely confident in two of them, one of which was Masonry Outfitters. The other company was completely booked and would not be able to start the job for several weeks, making it extremely tight to complete the job before the holidays and winter. David Dickenson from Masonry Outfitters was the one who came out to review the work that needed to be done, and was extremely thorough and upfront in his evaluation of what work needed to be done. He took photos of all areas and had a detailed quote to me within a couple of days, breaking down exactly each area of work to be done and the cost to do each area. He and his crew arrived on the scheduled day and went immediately to work. Each evening, they were careful to completely clean up after themselves, and treated my home as their own. Everyone on the crew was extremely professional as well as personable. After the work was completed, a complete walk through and inspection was done with me. He pointed out a couple of areas that had not been done to his satisfaction (I hadn't really even noticed them) and he had some of his crew out the next day to correct. Again, after the work was completed, a complete walk through and inspection was done with me. Their highest priority was that their work was done correctly and that I was completely satisfied. I will definitely use them for any of my future masonry needs!

Just wanting to get some repairs made to my front steps where bricks are coming loose. I'm thinking it may cost $200 to $400 dollars, but the quote came in at over $4,000. So we're not even close. Will probably make the repairs myself.

They did a good job. I paid for an extra charge of 700$. I thought that was the price for it to be done. It was neatly done but it think it was expensive because it was only a few bricks. It's difficult to find somebody to do masonry works. I would tell others that they need to make sure that the discount is applied and also the quote. I don't know how well it was applied, they were here in 3 hours and I'm sure one person could do it in 3 hours. That's why I don't understand their charges for me.

We have an existing pation constructed of tennesse flag stone. The concrete under the pation has beeen deteriorating for many years and needed footers as well as additional concrete work so as to support the patio and prevent it from collapsing. The foundation that wa prepared as well as the footers was an extremely professional job and I would not hesitate to use them again. thanks. jerry.

I had purchased a $99 3 hours of labor deal on May 17. It was estimated it would take 4 hours plus overhead which was an additional $258 . Estimate was scheduled on May 29th. But they couldn't get to me for the work until August 2nd. They did come early on August 1st. There were 4 guys here 9am - nearly 11am. They spent a bit of time waiting around for the right color mortar to be collected elsewhere. I think I just expected all the cracks to be filled and at the corners some of the mortar wear to be fixed closer to what it might have been originally. They did the major issues. I think maybe I didn't make my desires clear enough at the free estimate and I got what I paid for. There was also a brick that needed matched and replaced and that was an additional estimate of $115.

They were very respectful of our driveway and landscaping. They put drop clothes down over landscaping before putting up scaffolding, and they covered the air conditioning unit which was nearby with a sheet of wood to keep it from accidently getting hit by falling materials. We had a new paver patio put in last summer so they quoted the job earlier in the season and scheduled it for the end of the season so that we could enjoy our patio and landscaping into the fall. When they finally were able to start, they called days earlier to say they had an opening and when it fell on Labor Day weekend and said we had company they were very good about leaving the original start date in place. But it was nice to have the option. The price of home projects always surprises me, but considering the scope of the work they had to perform and the degree of difficulty of getting to a chimney that I witnessed, I would say it was probably a very fair price for what they provided. I should learn by now that you take the cost in your brain of what you think it will cost and double it because it always seems to be more than I originally think it will be. I am not good with peoples ages either. Go figure. They gave us a courtesy call when they were running late and were in constant communication with us. We have already recommended them to a friend who is having a similar problem with their chimney! Thanks Angies List for helping us do the homework on Masonry Outfitters!
Description of Work: The provider removed over fifty some bricks that the faces had popped off of due to moisture from the top of the chimney's cement cap that was cracked leaching down the stack. They had to redo the top of the chimney stack, along with top 2-3 rows of brick and put a cap on it to prevent same issue from happening in the future and then cut out each individual damaged brick thereafter and replace them.

Provider was professional regarding the work performed. Arrived on time, performed the work, and advised that i needed a few thousand dollars in upgrades to my fireplace /chimney. The young man that performed the work advised that I would receive an itemized estimate for several different things that i needed such as a damper, a stainless steel cap and some interior chimney work. I never received any written estimate or any follow up by this company. I did leave a message for a follow up call ,but was never contacted . I was satisfied with the chimney cleaning they did but not sure how good they might be for doing additional work, since i never received any follow up. I am disappointed that they never did follow up but i have NO complaints about the actual work they performed.

They did tuckpointing on my house but they did not match the tooling of the original work. Easy to tell where they made repairs. The whole idea of tuckpointing is the mason matches their repair with the original work. They didn't do this. The day after the work, I reported that I wasn't happy with certain sections, which would have taken an hour or two for them to make right. Actually, workers came late on the day of the repair and were trying to work in the dark. Well, the supervisor went out to check on the work and told me the company completed their contact. Period. He blamed their sloppy work on a previous repair. He said the workers did the best job possible considering the bad previous repair (which was caulking by me to keep water out until a permanent repair). The company knew from the get go about the previous caulking repair. They claimed they could make this repair when they bid for the job. In the contact they state that aesthetics are part of their job. Therefore, the contact was not completed. Too bad because my house is getting to the age where I will need additional brick repairs. I will not use this company again. When they came to pick up the check, the guy asked me if I liked the job...I told him that I was sorry to say that I didn't. He just looked at me with an uncomfortable look and walked away. Didn't want to waste my time/energy fighting with them. BTW...I worked on cleaning up their work and it looks better. However, at some point, I'll have to have someone else come out to redo this sloppy job when additional work masonry work is performed.

They did a great job. I feel that there will not be any water issues with the sills and the waterproofing will really help. Water just beads up now on the brick and doesn't sink it.
Description of Work: I had them go all around the home and fix any masonry cracks in the home, especially the window sills. They ground out places in all 56 windows and re-mortared the places and also fixed some cracks that I hadn't even noticed. The mortar is slightly lighter than what we had, but with time, it will blend in. They came back about a month later and waterproofed the sills and the top of the wall on our patio, that had a lot of word done to it.

They finally came out to give an "estimate" even though all we wanted was the 3 hours of labor to add some mortar to a brick walkway and stairs outside of our house. They told us it would be $20 per brick! - and they guestimated it would be over $1000 for what they suggested be done. My husband told them that was way more than we wanted to spend as we just wanted the 3 hours worth of work they falsely advertised in their deal. It's been over 2 weeks and we still haven't received the promised "estimate" they were to send. I'm sure they aren't going to bother sending it to us since they know we aren't going to pay them that type of money. They are obviously more interested in just collecting $99 from unsuspecting customers and pocketing the money if they can't squeeze a larger job out of you to make it worth their while. We have asked for a refund but they have refused. Please beware of this company.
Description of Work: Purchased a LS 3-hour deal for $99 for some brick work. I only needed some bricks repaired in a brick walkway and stairs. The deal was advertised as 3 hours of labor but what they want to do is schedule an appointment then come out and tell you that they want to charge you much more and do much more than necessary.

I am sorry you had a bad experience with our company. I spoke with Kourtney about your appointment and he informed me that the scope of your job was out of the 3 hours or labor you had paid for. He went over all of this with your husband the day he was at your house but yes he did forget you send you the proposal and we apologize for that. If you are interested in still getting that proposal please contact me at our office by phone or email and we can get that over to you. If you are wanting a refund for the deal you need to contact Angies List because you bought the deal thorough them. I am sorry that you ever felt taken advantage of or like we were just trying to take money from you, that is never our intentions here at Masonry Outfitters. I think he was very happy with the inspection. He was renting a house. The chimney sweep discovered some major issues in the chimney. I believe he was doing the inspection at a time when the landlady was actually nearby. He was then able to go and talk to her and tell what he'd found. The landlord was forced to fixed them. I think he was probably pretty happy with what the chimney sweep did. The price was certainly worth the effort to make sure that the house was safe.

The first time, prior to my vacation, I was told someone would be out to measure and custom order the cap. At that time I stated I may have other work needing to be done on the chimney to include tuck joint work, as well as inspection for leaks. I got a call from a sales person who stated they were not being deployed to measure what I had already purchased but to just give me an estimate on the other work I wanted done. So I cancelled him from showing up as my firm belief is you take care of what is PAID for prior to anything else. I called back and rescheduled simply the measurement. Upon talking to two people on the phone they informed me that the type of chimney I had would not work with what I purchased and that I would have to contact Angies list to get a refund? So I've done so, and no refund yet. In addition they told me they would come out and determine what it would cost to replace whatever different cap I have than what was $85 in the "big deal." They did so, and have always been punctual and nice over the phone so don't get me wrong, the people are nice. BUT, my bathroom contractor was here and told the guy where to look; I was at work and the estimate person who showed up told my contactor that he had what he needed and that they would send me an estimate. I have heard nothing. So now I'm out $85, it's been over a month, and I still have no clue what is wrong with my Chimney nor do I have an estimate. I even asked my contractor if they looked at the chimney, in which they did, and if they wanted to speak with me about the estimate, in which they did not and that they would just send me the quote. So I know that me not being there was not the excuse for the lack of communication. Overall I felt the chimney cap special was misleading; and I feel the followup of this company with proposals and estimates is lackluster at best. I'm very disappointed but willing to work with this company if the would follow up, provide me a detailed proposal, and if their price was fair. And most importantly it's going to take getting the $85 or so dollars back I paid for something I don't need.
Description of Work: I bought the big deal on the $85 chimney cap and had been awaiting them to come out to measure.
