They were wonderful. I actually called for chimney sweep; he came in and told me that it was dangerous and I shouldn't use it without repair. We were grateful or else we could have burn the house down. He was very honest and I just felt that he was very professional. He really did what I really want to find out. The moisture got in the chimney and rested out the interior lining and the wooden box was exposed. We are in a condo so we are not going to burn our house but three houses. He was very professional and made it clear that we should not use it. It was really worth the money.

Not good. Was told I didn't need to be home for company to come out and estimate job (some tuck pointing on my front porch, which isn't screened in and doesn't have a door or anything, it's wide open). I wrote them through the message center (9/27) after a while asking when they were coming out, or when they could sent someone. They said that they had come out three weeks ago (9/5), and no one was home, so they didn't look at the job. Evidently they didn't feel like letting me know that, even though when we spoke on the phone to confirm the appointment they said I did not need to be home. Following through with what you are going to do when you say you are going to do it is my the most important aspect of service for me and these folks failed miserably.

He cleaned the chimney but didn't do the masonry. We still needed to have our porch raised. But because of the miscommunication, he said that the coupon for the masonry work wouldn't expire and to just call when we are ready to have the work done.

I purchased a Big Deal from this company. The estimator, David, was very nice & professional and explained all that he saw wrong with my chimney and what would need to be done to corrected the problems. I received a very detailed estimate, along with a few cost saving options, before he even left my property. We reviewed it again to be sure all my questions were answered. They tried hard to match my existing brick and brought samples to my house for approval. The men performing the actual work arrived on the day as scheduled, and even called to say they would be a little late due to inclement weather. I appreciated the heads up. The 3 men working were all very polite & professional. I was amazed at how quickly they completed the project and it looks great! They also did a good job or cleaning up all debris from my property. My "B" rating for responsiveness was because I did have some issues reaching someone in the office on both occasions when I had questions. There is only someone there part of the day and it took a couple of days to get a call back. This caused a minor issue as I needed a reply that same day or the next. However, I would be very willing to use this company again.

David of Masonry Outfitters showed up on time & completed an inspection of the chimney & fire stove. He stated he would need to come back with other equipment as this was not a "standard" fireplace set up (Wood burning stove). He further stated the stove/chimney/flue was clean and showed little use. He suggested I contact Angie's List to obtain a refund. David was also was able to provide me with an estimate for future work on the chimney (i.e. Re-build for early winter 2014).

The company came out and informed me that I don't need to have my chimney serviced and it is in good working condition! They were punctual and professional! I appreciate their honesty and integrity to let me know that the work did not need to be done. I would recommend them based on their professionalism!

I thought that it was very honest of him to not clean an already clean chimney. I obviously wouldn't have know the difference, and I definitely appreciated his integrity. We will definitely consider this company for future work.

Terrible!!!! Masonry Outfitters employee came out looked at my project and said they could do nothing for me. Informed me to call their office for a refund. I called left long message. NO return call. I bought their coupon for nothing!!!!! Makes me sick they took my money and did nothing. I would NEVER use this company. Do not buy their coupon unless you want to just throw away your money.

Good. Made some recommendations but no pressure to purchase additional services from the company.

I read the offer carefully and thought that since they mentioned brickwork, that they were the ones to redo the walkway. The walk was mentioned in my purchase order. I was pretty excited about getting it done; the project has been on my list for many years. A date was made to take a look and the nice guy showed up on time, but said he did not do walks, talk to a construction company (he could have said that right away without coming to the house). I was quite disappointed, there had been pictures of brick steps and a walk on the promotional material of Masonry Outfitters. We looked around for other projects that might use the "deal" but when Kourntey Zahn sent me an estimate for fixing cracks in the brick walls of the house (which resulted from 3 earthquakes and settling from drought) it came to much more money than I have available for projects and the walk comes first. I will set aside the estimate for later consideration and I have told Mr. Zahn as much.

They inspected my chimney this morning. They were courteous and on time, and clean. I would consider using them again in the future!

Kind service attendant arrived in time and as scheduled. He examined the chimney and diagnosed damages that where more than what we could afford at this time. The service was not done and a quote was provided for the repairs at a later date.

No response to my request dates. After much time spent I was able to call on the phone. On two different days I was told the company was closed for the day. After I had contacted you about a refund, out of the blue a woman called to set up a date. This was past the dates I had first selected. I told her I would not be using the service.

It was very difficult to make initial contact. The office person did not answer or return my calls for weeks. If I hadn't already bought the big deal I would have just called someone else. After finally making contact, the technician arrived on time and did a very thorough and professional job. he was very knowledgable and explained issues and concerns with the condition of our chimney in detail. We will probably use them for repairs. If they had better office help I would have given them and overall A.

They were on time and very courteous. Upon inspection of our chimney they discovered that we have a crack. They provided us with multiple options for fixing it all at different prices points, which was very appreciative.

No work was completed. Angie's List and Masonry Outfitters performed professionally. The choice made was a personal decision.

Provider showed up a bit early, but called ahead to make sure that was alright. He inspected the chimney, took pictures and explained the problems we had. He provided us with two options as well as giving us a heads up on ways to save money on this costly repair. We will be doing the service during the winter months as they offer larger discounts during that time. He inspected the chimney from the outside as well and provided us with a clear picture of what repairs needed to be made. All in all it was a great experience.

They were nice and seemed okay with the refund, when I realized they do not do concrete work.

Purchased a Big Deal for labor. During the estimate, 92 different points were identified as needing repair. The estimate was for $144 beyond the scope of the Big Deal and I was assured that, if a larger problem was found during the work, a new conversation and contract would be had - no unexpected increase in cost. The work was performed quickly and a before & after photo of every single repair was emailed along with the $144 invoice.

Masonry Outfitters did not respond in the allocated time. several days after the allocated time, I called them and my calls went to voice mail. They never returned my messages. After repeated attempts to contact them over days, I lucked out and caught them answering the phone. They told me that they had been swamped with responses to the add. When I asked why they had not at least call and tell me what was going on, there was no reply. When I asked why there was nothing on Angie's list message center ( I had checked), again, no reply. A day or two after this, a message was posted which pretended that nothing had happened and they were trying to contact me - NOT TRUE.

The serviceman was friendly and helpful. Prior to purchasing the home I had never had a fireplace before and the serviceman provided a lot of information and use, care, & maintenance. The only drawback was that his company truck was in the shop and as a result he did not have all of his tools, tarp, and vaccum available for use at my location.

It turned out pretty good. It worked out really well and he did a good job. It turned out better than I had hoped for. He was very professional and had great knowledge about masonry and I appreciated that. I planted some flowers on both sides of the walkway and they respected the need to cover them and be careful around them. They were careful not to smash them down.

The technician was great. He was on time, prepared, and knowledgeable. He did a nice job cleaning the chimney and fireplace. He inspected inside and outside and got up on top of the roof to take pictures of existing crown, etc. He emailed an estimate quickly. We did not end up having further work performed. We felt the price was high which was confirmed with two additional estimates.
