+ 0 moreAfter our dog tried to "dig" his way under a closed bedroom door, we had a shredded carpet next to the door jam. Big Dog arrived on time and fixed the carpet using a piece we had saved from the original install. (Never throw those pieces away.) The patch is completely invisible and the cost was well under what we thought it might be. We will definitely recommend this company.

+ 0 moreAfter being very pleased with the personable nature of Susan and Chip in the office, I hired Big Dog to pull up the old carpet and discard it, re-carpet the downstairs, stairs, upstairs hallway and three bedrooms as well. The 3 man crew showed up the first day prompt, on time, and ready to go. Chip also came to go over the overall job. Once he went over the details, he left and they got started. The entire crew was friendly and very very personable. They left the first day with their mess thoroughly cleaned up. They did the stairs the 2nd day and all of the bedrooms and upstairs hall. I was AMAZED at how quickly they worked. They were seriously just a joy to be around. One of the guys cut out my daughter's initials in the carpet she had put down in her bedroom out of the extra remnant left over. They left a few extra pieces for us and also fused stairway pieces as well. They just seemed to go the extra step to make it an enjoyable experience rather that stressful.
Description of Work: The carpet in my old farmhouse was approximately 23 years old. We were also taking out a few laminate sections and putting down ceramic-type flooring in an entryway as well.

+ 0 moreAfter receiving a quote from another supplier (and almost going with them) I saw Big Dog's van at my neighbors, and they had a high rating on Angie's List so pursued another price. Chip and Chris came out within 48 hours and were most pleasant. Their estimate was considerably less so proceeded to make final selections. Because of weather, product was delayed in coming from the distributor so installation was rescheduled (I picked the two consecutive days.) The three installers were very polite, friendly, and efficient. An issue with a seam was quickly addressed and resolved. It was evident that Bobby was very skilled and took time to explain options. This was a very positive experience.
Description of Work: Had carpet replaced in living room, dining room, stairway, upstairs hall, and a bedroom.

Description of Work: When we moved in Big Dog Flooring put carpet in the entire house, with the exception of the kitchen, the entry way, and the bathrooms, and in those areas they put down laminate flooring. They tore out the old carpet and put in the new. We had to have the house painted and they worked around the painters so they would get everything done after the painters.

Description of Work: I had carpet installed in my bedroom. It looks real nice, however walking on it barefoot, it feels real tough, not soft. The carpet is cheaply made, and they do not offer pile height and measurement when you are selecting carpet. I should have researched before selecting the carpet. You definitely get what you pay for. When purchasing from them ask questions about the quality of their carpet, bend the carpet sample and see if pad shows through. Pay attention to details and ask questions. I wish I had asked for a little bit more expensive carpeting that was softer and may last longer. They guarantee cheap carpeting, so its not their fault it mine, I'm just helping out any future customers that purchase from them.

They were on time, worked till finished, and made the wife feel at ease while they were there. Cleaned up perfect. Just a great experience. + 1 moreI am very particular about decorating my home. This was the best flooring experience I've ever had. Crew was neat and clean as they went. Big job and were in the home for a few days. Very polite and considerate crew. Always responsive to my specific requests like using custom stained flush-mount registers and specific trim requests around fireplace and other areas. Very patient with me as I expected on such a big job and such big money being spent. Suzan from the office bent over backwards to find just the right hardwood samples for me even calling several suppliers to get more in. The owner Chip was extremely professional and showed great concern for excellent customer service. Very trustworthy.
Description of Work: Tore out travertine stone floor in kitchen, half bath and hallway. Tore out old hardwood floors in 2 rooms. Installed hardwood floors throughout main level. Nicely trimmed out around built-ins and around kitchen cabinets. Tore out carpet in basement and top floor. Replaced carpet in basement and on top floor. Hauled away old flooring.

We feel the carpet provides good quality and wear-ability which was important for a family/friend gathering area. Chip & Susan were very helpful, professional and timely in their responses. The carpet was put down in one afternoon by installers who were punctual and professional.
Description of Work: They carpeted a newly built 4 season room (12x21) for us. Room was empty prior. No previous carpet to remove.

Chip and Susan run a fantastic exemplary business. We were very impressed. They make sure that you are satisfied from start to finish. After the crew finished with the work, Chip showed up about fifteen minutes later just to touch base and check that we were 100% content. They will go the extra mile for you and I can't recommend them enough! When we get ready to put tile in our bathrooms, we'll give them a call.

+ -1 moreRyan insisted on taking up the vinyl flooring saying that the tile would adhere to concrete better and he would feel better doing the job that way. He started with the laundry room and soon discovered a crack. He suggested I go to the hardware store and get a concrete repair kit sold for that purpose with tile jobs over concrete, which I did. Turned out we had a crack in the other two rooms. They made sure one bathroom with working toilet was always accessible while the project was underway, multi-tasking in different rooms efficiently but making sure adhesive and tile set up overnight before grouting.The job was excellent and Ryan even adjusted the kitchen back splash brick pattern after we decided we preferred a slightly different look in a couple places. The tile job was finished on the afternoon of the third day, Firday, as promised. The whole job was complete except for the interface with carpet at both bathrooms which the tile installers had previously discussed with us and Charlie. Charlie had agreed to send a knowledgeable carpet installer over to re-install room connector strips and reset carpet that had been loosened near bath doorways right after the tile guys finished all else. Within an hour of the tile guys leaving Charlie had Mike, a carpet installer, over, and Mike completed the carpet work so all was done. Excellent work all around.
Description of Work: Install porcelain (ceramic) tile in two baths, laundry room and backsplash for kitchen. We asked for bid and quick turn around since we had purchased materials, would be going out of town soon and another contractor had not shown up as promised. Owner Charlie Jackson came out, measured area, checked vinyl floor over concrete for tightness since they preferred not to lay over vinyl as other person planned to do but would if the vinyl was adhered solidly after checking with a bathroom plunger. He verified they could start the job Wednesday and finish on Friday barring any unforeseem circumstances. Quote included floors in three rooms and backsplash, moving appliances, removing toilets and resetting with new wax rings and removal and reinstall of quarter round trim on floor. He said he had an excellent ceramic tile sub-contractor brother team. After getting three other quotes over the next 24 hours we called Tuesday afternoon to commit and negotiate final price after scaling back on pattern work originally planned in baths that would have looked too busy. We agreed on final price and he said his team would be out the next morning, Wednesday, and would work thru Friday to finish. Ryan and his assistant Richard showed up with Charlie as promised on Wednesday and went to work. They were well organized, conscientious, cleaned up after their work. It quickly became apparent theat Ryan was a great professional tile guy and he and Richard were a great team. We provided the 12" tiles for the floors, the 4" tiles for the kitchen back splash with decorative 4" tile inserts spaced along the wall and end pieces, the Thinset white latex mortified and sanded grout-all from Lowe's

+ 0 morewe had very bad looking carpeting in our greatroom, office and halls. We researched a lot what would be best to put down with three kids, three dogs, and a cat. We went to many dealers and every estimate we got was out of our price range and then they couldn't give us an idea of what would work and be in our price range. We call Chip at Big Dog and he got right back to us. When the first thing we picked out didn't fit into our price range he had us come out to his show room and helped us pick out something that would. The floors been down for six weeks. It looks just like wood. The kids have left sweaty cups on it, the cat has yacked on it (YUCK!) which was left there while we were at work, and not a blemish. The dogs haven't scratched it or anything. We are VERY HAPPY!!! Chip and his crew were great guys. They worked fast and did a great job! Thanks Big Dog!!! All that for an Excellent price too.

The samples that he left were spot on. The final estimate was very well explained and ended up being considerably cheaper than everybody else! The installer showed up at 9, right on time, and was gone in a few hours time. This was a fantastic experience, and Big Dog did a great job! I would highly recommend them.

When the day of the install came, the got to our home right on time and were courteous and efficient. We tore up the carpet ourselves and expected to pay a disposal fee for them to take it away, but they didn't charge us a dime! When the time comes to re-carpet the rest of our house they will be the only people we call.

+ 0 moreWasher hose came loose and sprayed water in laundry room which backs up to 3 closets. The carpet was soaked and had to be pulled away from the tack strip in order to dry. I called Big Dog on November 3rd to get an estimate of cost and when the work could be completed and Mr. Hanley returned the call promptly and said he could have a crew out the next day. The crew called when they were close and showed up promptly when they said they would be there. They stretched the carpet and put back into place.
Description of Work: Carpet was soaked due to washer leak in laundry room. The carpet was pulled away from the tack strip to dry. The crew came in and put the carpet back in place and stretched a couple of areas that needed attention. EXCELLENT JOB.

+ 0 moreIt is just a shame that other vendors we have used on Angie's List aren't as dedicated and concerned about their reputation, their customers or the quality of the job they do, which often leaves the impression with a customer that they aren't good to work with or the consequences of poor business practices have on their businesses.
Description of Work: After our lower level flooded due to a sump pump failure, all the carpeting had to be removed and replaced. Big Dog was most accommodating given the fact that we chose to acquire the carpeting and pad separately elsewhere. For a small fee ($50) they picked up the carpeting we ordered from the carpet manufacturer's local warehouse and also accepted delivery of the pad from our supplier to their place of business. When I need carpeting work, these guys will be the first ones I call.
