The price was GOING to be reasonable. They accepted our money on April 29, 06 and declared bankruptcy on May 6, 06.

Newport's Outlet was very reasonably priced (I shopped around many places) & I was able to select my actual granite slab. They provided excellent service and were extremely pleasant for the entire process. We encountered some unavoidable snafus along the way, but Newport truly bent over backwards to make sure I was perfectly satisfied, from Nick (the salesperson) to Don Lee(the manager) to Jeff(the installer). I am very happy with my granite & the personalized service received from Newport's Outlet Stores.
Description of Work: They replaced my old countertops with granite in my kitchen as well as in my guest bathroom.

The overall experience was a nightmare. I didn't think a company could be so unprofessional. They led us on for months, letting us believe they were going to replace our door. Bob also committed to have it delivered & installed because by this time, my husband had undergone back surgery & couldn't lift anything. When this came to a head, Bob completely changed his story & lied right to me about his commitments. They haven't even attempted to return our dog door or reimburse us for it. It is too late now to return it for a refund. I would never use or recommend them again. Bottom Line: They owe us a replacement door with a dog door installed in it.
Description of Work: We purchased a Fiberglass half window door & Newport's installed a dog door in it. We were told by Bob Irwin that the door would not need to be painted & it would be as nice as one we could buy at Lowe's. The door was covered with mars & scratches. We called to complain & Bob came out to our house to look at the door. He agreed it should be replaced & committed to do so. He accepted, & took with him, another brand new $80 dog door to install in the replacement door. I never heard from him. Over the next 3 months, every time I would call to check on it he would say "Mark Newport won't let us order just 1 door. We have to wait until we have 5 orders." Finally, in December, he said, "It should be in any day now." I never heard from him again. In February, I reached Mark; he sent a "measurer" out to "take care of it". Then, I got a call from Don (Operation Manager) who said they would not be replacing my door because the only scratches the "measurer" could see were scratches from my dogs.

We were very middle of the road with them. Just an average company. You do get what you paid for. The installers aren't so hot.
Description of Work: Countertops that they sold us were supposedly scratch proof. It's not, they are all scratched up now.

ON OCT. 11TH, I CALLED TO CHECK ON THE STATUS AND THE MAN WHO SOLD ME THE DOOR SAID IT WAS "IN THE SHOP RIGHT NOW" AND THAT HE WOULD CALL ME WHEN IT WAS DONE. WE CALLED BACK ON THE 24TH DAY AFTER MAKING THE ORDER, AND WERE TOLD IT WAS STILL IN THE SHOP AND IT MIGHT BE DONE TOMORROW BUT THEY COULDN'T SAY FOR SURE. THIS WAS THE SAME MAN WHO QUOTED US 7 TO 10 DAYS AND WHO 3 DAYS EARLIER GAVE ME THE IMPRESSION IT WAS TO BE DONE RIGHT AWAY. WE ASKED FOR A REFUND, AND THEY SAID IT WOULD TAKE TWO WEEKS TO GET IT. HAD THEY CALLED TO TELL US IT WOULD TAKE LONGER, WE MIGHT HAVE BEEN MORE WILLING TO WAIT. THEY NEEDED TO COMMUNICATE WITH US.
Description of Work: MY HUSBAND AND I ORDERED A DOOR ON 9/20/05 THAT COST $338.14. WE WERE TOLD THEY WERE A LITTLE BEHIND IN WORK AND IT WOULD BE 7 TO 10 DAYS BEFORE OUR DOOR WAS READY. WE NEEDED A 30" EXTERIOR DOOR, WHICH IS DIFFICULT TO FIND.

MY OVERALL EXPERIENCE WAS HORRIBLE. I WILL NEVER PURCHASE ANYTHING FROM THIS COMPANY AGAIN, AND I WAS GOING TO ORDER FLOORING FOR MY KITCHEN AND BATH. I HAD TO CALL 3 WEEKS AFTER MY PURCHASE, TO FIND OUT WHERE MY DOORS WERE, ONLY TO BE TOLD THAT THEIR CARPENTER HAD HURT HIMSELF ON THE JOB. TWO WEEKS LATER I HAD TO CALL AGAIN AND GOT NOTHING BUT EXCUSES, FINALLY THEY CALLED ME TO INSTALL THE DOORS AND THEY WERE NOT RIGHT. THE INSTALLERS SAID THEY WOULD HAVE SOMEONE CONTACT US, AGAIN! I HAD TO CALL! 1 WEEK LATER AND NO ONE KNEW WHAT I WAS TALKING ABOUT. I RECEIVED A BAD ATTITUDE FROM THEIR CARPENTER. I HAD TO TALK TO JAY FRANKLIN, FROM THE CICERO STORE AT LEAST 4 TIMES. NEVER ONCE DID I GET RESULTS FROM HIM. WHEN I CALLED HIM AFTER THE DOORS WERE INSTALLED, I ASKED FOR SOME SORT OF CUSTOMER DISCOUNT FOR MY AGGRAVATION, HE REPLIED, "WHY SHOULD I CARE TO HELP YOU OUT, YOU ALREADY TOLD ME THAT YOU TOLD EVERYONE YOU KNOW NOT TO SHOP HERE." ALL NEWPORT OUTLET CARES ABOUT IS THE BOTTOM LINE.
Description of Work: MY HUSBAND AND I PURCHASED DOORS FROM THE ANDERSON STORE IN MAY. WE WERE TOLD THAT THE DOORS WOULD BE INSTALLED IN 2 WEEKS, BECAUSE THEY HAD TO MAKE THEM. TWO MONTHS LATER THEY FINALLY CAME TO INSTALL THE DOORS AND 1 WAS DAMAGED AND THE OTHER DID NOT FIT RIGHT. AFTER 1 WEEK OF NOT HEARING FROM THEM, I HAD TO CALL AND FIND OUT WHEN SOMEONE WOULD COME AND FIX THE PROBLEM. OVER 2 1/2 WEEKS LATER, I FINALLY HAD FIXED DOORS. SO ALMOST 3 MONTHS LATER, WITH A LOT OF AGGRAVATING CONVERSATIONS, AND VERY POOR ATTITUDES BY JAY FRANKLIN AND OTHER ASSOCIATES, I NOW CRINGE WHEN I HEAR MARK NEWPORT'S COMMERCIAL FOR HIS SO CALLED GREAT SERVICE COMPANY.

IT HAD THE WRONG GLASS IN IT AND THE SALESMAN AT NEWPORTS SAID HE WOULD GET IT TAKEN CARE OF IMMEDIATELY. EIGHT MONTHS LATER, WE ARE STILL WAITING FOR THE NEW GLASS TO COME IN. THE PRODUCT MIGHT BE OK, BUT THE CUSTOMER SERVICE (INCLUDING UNRETURNED PHONE CALLS) HAS JUST BEEN HORRIBLE. I WOULDN'T RECOMMEND NEWPORTS TO ANYONE.
Description of Work: WE'VE HAD A MISERABLE EXPERIENCE WITH NEWPORT OUTLET ON US 31 NORTH. WE ORDERED A FRONT DOOR IN JANUARY, WHICH WAS INSTALLED IN FEBRUARY.

THE INSTALLER WE USED WAS RECOMMENDED BY NEWPORT'S. THE GLASS THEY PUT IN THE TRANSOMS WAS DIFFERENT THAN THE REST OF THE GLASS. IT WAS SIMILAR BUT OBVIOUSLY DIFFERENT. WHEN I CALLED THE SALESMAN HE SAID IT WAS THE BEST HE COULD DO. AFTER NUMEROUS CALLS, MANY UNRETURNED, TO THE DISTRICT MANAGER, JAY FRANKLIN, MATCHING GLASS WAS ORDERED AND PLACED. THEY NEVER GOT THE HARDWARE ON RIGHT, NEVER GOT THE SEALS ON PROPERLY, BROKE A HANDLE ON A DOOR THEY PROMISED TO FIX, AND MANY OTHER ISSUES. THEY HAVE BEEN TO MY HOUSE AT LEAST 10 TIMES AND NEVER HAVE FINISHED THE JOB. AT LEAST 5 TIMES THEY HAVE MADE ARRANGEMENTS TO BE HERE AND NOT SHOWN UP. HAVE QUIT RETURNING PHONE CALLS. THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR 10 MONTHS AND I HAVE QUIT HASSLING WITH. THEY ARE A HORRIBLE COMPANY TO DEAL WITH IF THERE ARE PROBLEMS AND HAVE UNFAVORABLE RATING WITH BBB.JAY FRANKLIN IS THE HEAD GUY AND HE WAS HELPFUL TO A POINT BUT THEY NEVER COMPLETED THE JOB. WE WILL HAVE TO HIRE ANOTHER HANDYMAN TO FINISH THEIR
