Appel Heating & Air Conditioning

Wonderful service as always! They gave me a two-hour window for my last appointment and they were 15 minutes late; however, to their credit, they called and said they were on their way. Things happen and that doesn't take away from the years of excellent service. Also, I was impressed that even though there are some fluctuations in the coolant temperatures, they didn't jump to the conclusion that I needed a new compressor. They said I should wait and see what happens over the summer months. I like that approach.

I have a "Silver" yearly service policy with Appel which I purchased after great service when they repaired my 30+ year old boiler and 30+ year old air conditioner. They have since replaced both the boiler and air conditioner, doing so with much skill, courtesy, consideration, and at a reasonable cost. Now I have them out two times a year to 'tune' them up. On May 3, the technician BF, came as requested, on time, and 'tuned up' the AC. He went about his job in a professional and efficient manner. He showed me the old air filter before replacing it and explained all he did. When I discovered there was no air coming out 2 rooms' vents, he crawled up in the attic, amid all the insulation, and reconnected the duct work which had been accidentally disconnected when I had an alarm system installed. This was not part of the 'job description' and I sure appreciated his actions! Appel and its reps are the most professional, competent, and accommodating business/persons with whom I have dealt.

I could not be more pleased with the business relationship that was established with Appel. Their salesperson, Nate, was extremely helpful, and their bit was much lower than our others for equivalent equipment. He also was helpful in acquiring a couple of extras for us in the bid price. The installation took about a full working day. The installer was very skilled and his finished job was exceptionally well done. His organization of the sheet metal needs of the furnace are well placed in a small space, and the look is clean and neat. We are very pleased with the whole helpful attitude of this company and it's employees.

We have a maintenance contract with them.

There were 2 service/installation technicians that worked on our installation -Rick and Ron. They worked like a well trained team - one attacked the outside while the other attacked the inside unit. There were several inside problems that Ron overcame (with pure knowledge and experience) while Rick removed and installed the new heat pump and did the crawl space work (removed old copper tubing and installed new). Not only did they know their ''stuff'' but they also worked together as a well oiled team! They started at 8:45am and drove off the property at 6:00pm. We have white carpet and the furnace is in the middle of our home...clean tarps were placed from the front door to the edge of the furnace room. Half way through the installation, Scott Appel walked in to check how the install was going! At the end of the installation, John walked in, he checked the install, checked the refrigerant in the system, checked the readings and when everything was done and cleaned up - they left!

Called this morning. They worked around my need to get my daughter to preschool coming asap but at my convenience. Work was done quickly and efficiently. Thankfully it was a small repair, because he did not give me an estimate and he completed the work before getting my approval to continue past the diagnosis of the problem. I would have liked a quick consult before beginning the repair. I think $84 is high for travel and diagnosis as I live less than 10 miles from the store and start to finish he was here for about 20 minutes (including completing the repair).

Our 17 year old furnace was making a terrible sound and Appel sent a tech out to inspect it. It needed a new blower wheel which was going to cost about $500 so rather than fix something on an old and falling apart machine, we decided to replace it with a new one. Nate from Appel came out on Friday to review our options and we selected a Rheem 2-stage 80% efficient furnace. The installation was scheduled for the following Wednesday, however, over the weekend, the furnace died. I called Appel on Saturday morning, spoke with the on-call technician who then had Nate call me back. Happily, Nate arranged to have the furnace installed on Monday. Two installers showed up on time and worked most of the day. They did a terrific job. Nate followed up after a week to schedule a time to come by and inspect the job. The furnace was expense but I trust Appel, this is our third house in 10 years and they've worked on each home exclusively.

They are fine. I feel safer if I have my air conditioner and furnace checked before I turn them on. I find their service very satisfactory and if they can't keep an appointment they will call to let me know. I have a service contract with them.

Appel matched a previous quote, ordered the necessary part and then set up an appointment for installation. The time involved was actually less than anticipated. The installer was on time and completed the work. Appel took my word on the quote they were matching. The installer was friendly, professional and offered advice on proper filters for the furnace.

They got here right when they said they would and the work was done fast. They added on $70 for some kind of bracket that looked like it was worth about $6, but other than that I thought it seemed fair. Since it costs $84 to even have them come out to look at the furnace I didn't feel like throwing that money away to shop around more. Plus it was freezing.

All the service men are competent, kind, and quick. Appel always responds and care for us (even on Xmas eve one year.) A great family company.

They are a long-term reliable service.

The process went well. The technician was friendly and professional. He serviced the furnace, which required a cleaning due to dust and dirt buildup. The furnace is working great now. We were so please with the service, that we signed up for a yearly service contract.

They came at the time promised, repaired the furnace, and were neat about it.

First of all, Appel was able to come to my home within 90 minutes of my call and the work was accomplished within the next hour. The serviceman was both courteous as well as efficient and this is especially noteworthy since I didn't discover the problem and call for service until slightly after 3 pm on a Friday afternoon. I was very well satisfied; just wish the charge had not been so much but I would guess that it was the standard rate.

I would have preferred that they actually found something wrong with why the temperature would not come back up. The appointment was set for 2p-4p (the technician could arrive anywhere between 2:00 and 4:00). They called me at 12:30p and asked if the technician could arrive earlier since he had just finished his previous call. I said sure, left work, and got home a little before 1:00p. The technician did not arrive until 2:45p! Also, angieslist.com lists the travel charge as $74. I guess it should be $84.

The technician explained anything we had questions on. He also was punctual and professional. He wore booties to cover his shoes which is so nice!

Angie's List helped me resolve the problems quickly with another, better performing, price comparing company.

They are top quality. They are good people to work with, the people in the office and the technicians, that inspect the furnace. I trust them.

We have used Appel for a few years now, and have been very happy with their service. They handle concerns promptly and courteously.

We have Appel come out twice yearly to service and maintain our heating and air conditioning systems. They just serviced the furnace earlier this summer.

The service folks were timely and knowledgeable. They answered all my questions with lots of patience. We were very pleased.

I have a membership, and they come out to check my system. I am very pleased with them. He changed the water pad in my humidifier and did not charge me for that. They are very professional and wonderful.

I chose Appel based on their responsiveness and good reviews. I was impressed that they were able to schedule to service the furnace only two days after I called. This is a busy season for that and other places I called were estimating it would be close to a month before they could schedule my service. Having said that, I was somewhat disappointed at their price compared to others and the fact that they do not give an Angie's List discount. I guess the "time is money" saying would fit because of their quick responsiveness. The serviceman was pleasant and did a nice job. He took his time and explained things.
