Appel Heating & Air Conditioning

I have been an Appel customer for more than 25 years. I always get competitive quotes for major equipment/services and once again selected Appel. Account Rep Nate was thorough and professional in his response. He answered my questions providing clear info both before and after his proposal (delivered promptly by email). Rick and Brad did the installation, again both thorough and professional. They were prompt and kept the worksite clean. They kept me posted on progress and answered all my questions. Post-installation we had an issue with a noisy fan. The Appel team work closely with us until the issue was resolved. I really appreciate their outstanding service coupled with quality products.

Everything went great. I had no problems.

I had the tennant call them and they took care of it immediately. They are very responsive. They have installed new units and they have a service policy to do semi-annual tune ups and service of the units.

Everything went pretty bad. I purchased a high efficiently two speed furnace. The unit appears to be under sized for the house. I was having trouble getting them to return my phone calls too. It doesn't appear that this furnace is going to power my house.

Paul was on time. Very friendly. Explained things to me. Cleaned up any mess made.

The technicians were punctual. Very professional install. They were very neat and cleaned up after themselves.

Good overall experience. Sales guy provided all information I requested and wrote down a quote for 2 AC options. I had dealt with the company before and I knew they were very good to deal with. The price quoted was competitive. Installation crew showed up on time and were very professional and knowledgeable. Installation was completed by the estimated time and they left all areas clean. The work was very well done.

Technician was courteous, knowledgeable and helpful, but the price on their Rheem units was a bit high and I was able to obtain a Carrier unit that generally received much better quality and repair ratings at a lower cost.

No problems with installation and/or operation of new heating system.

My A/C unit broke down on a 90 degree day (what else) and calling around, I used a company I had in the past who quoted me nearly $900 to fix and cited 3 areas that were broken. They had told me that it would cost $6000 to replace it and was rather pushy. At that point, I called 6 other places, including Appel, but Appel was the only company that didn't beat around the bush or play funny games. They also came the same day for a first-time customer. Additionally, they told me that there was really only 1 area (not 3 broken) and that it would cost $235. They were on time, professional, and clean. Also, they even talked me through the process of potentially looking at another system, but were not pushy in the least. Lastly, and perhaps most impressive, they credited back the full $235 towards my new unit though it took me 3 weeks to decide. Very easy to work with, nice, and most importantly fair. This 3rd generation family-owned company has a lot to lose by not keeping their word and treating their clientele right. By their truthful and straight-forward attitude, I'll go out of my way to recommend them to anyone who will listen.

I generally do considerable research before buying anything. What I found when getting estimates for a high efficiency furnace is that there was not much consensus on what size furnace I needed, how big a humidifier, or what brand is best. Rather than choose a furnace brand, I decided I first needed to choose an HVAC advisor, and then buy from the brands that he sells. I chose Scott Appel because I felt that his recommendations were based on science, rather than rules of thumb. I asked many questions and he had answers for all of them. He took a whole bunch of measurements and said that I could get by with a 60k BTU furnace when everyone else felt that 80k was more appropriate for a 2000 sf ranch house. Last January, the furnace did run seemingly non-stop, but it did not have any trouble maintaining 70 degrees. I also chose the AirEase brand, which is less expensive and less well known than Carrier, Lennox, and American Standard. But, Scott offered a very good warranty and the AirEase A/C that I bought from him 5 years ago has not had any trouble. Rick was the head of the install team and did a nice creative job with sheet metal to accomodate a filter box on top of the furnace.

Appel responded quickly to my call and did a great job with the air conditioner replacement. They also cleaned my furnace and inspected my ductwork for free. I'm very happy with their service and staff.

They were very honest. When they came out the first time, I was charged for the service call and the products. When they came the second time to sell the new air conditioner, they removed the charges from the service call. They were very considerate and didn't track debris through the house.

I received 4 quotes from highly-rated companies. Appel was not the cheapest, or the most expensive, but they were the most professional by far. Other competitors quoted systems that were not the correct size, or that would not have qualified for current rebates. Installation went smoothly, and overall, it was a good experience.

I bought a home with a noisy central air system that wasn't performing well. I called Appel to check it out. When they showed up, they were very curtious and were happy to answer any questions. Turns out, a repair was needed, and they would call back to schedule something. They gave me a price. After a week of not hearing back, I called them (very busy part of the year, it happens). They were prompt to schedule the repair. When the job was done, it came to $120 more than I was previously told. Turns out the last guy forgot to include the waste disposal fee. Fortunately the person doing the repairs waived the fee, no arguing. I think that shows that they do care about customer service. I cannot comment on the price, as I did not get any other quotes. My heating and cooling system is now half as loud, and twice as cold. I have recommended appel to a couple friends, and will do so in the future.

I have used them in the past and have been very pleased. The price was very reasonable. They were responsive and came the day after I had called after hours. I couldn't have been happier.

They have a plan where you can sign up and they come to check your furnace and air conditioner. There are 2 prices for that; one is before the season and the other is in season (which is more expensive). The service call is included in the contract plan. Whats most important to me is peace of mind each year before the season.

Having used Appel for all our service and heating/cooling machines the past 25 years, we did not hesitate to accept their estimates on replacing our old gas furnace and air conditioner. They price was most competative with the other 2 estimates and, as always, the service, installation, and, so far, the products were/are outstanding. Nate, the sales rep for the company, came to our condo and patiently explained the kinds of furnaces, air conditioners, and humidifiers from which we could choose. He explained the many acronyms used in descriptions of energy efficiency, heating manner, cooling ability, ecological abilities, and so forth. He provided brochures, drawings, explanations, and written estimates for installation of several types of systems we could have installed. After careful consideration and more discussions with Nate later in the week, we signed with Appel to replace the furnace, air conditioner, and humidifier. Their installation team arrived on the designated day, on time and prepared to do all work. The removal of the old and installation of the new furnaces was especially problematic as the furnace is in an enclosed, vertical, tight area in the garage. The men were undaunted and did a fine job. As they worked, Nate showed up to check on them, the job being done, and to answer any questions we had. Several days after all was finished, Nate came by again to check over everything and to give us our rebate forms and needed verifications to submit them. Finally, once it was warm enough to turn on the air conditioner and finish the service installation procedures, Judy (the scheduler-all purpose wonderful liaison in Appel's office) immediately called and sent out a service person to finish with the air conditioner's prep. This company has consistently given us wonderful service and products over 25 years and we highly recommend them to you for your heating and cooling needs.

The practice of APPEL is very disappointing, I perhaps will never deal with this company again.

The technician had 25 years experience and actually took apart my outdoor unit to clean it.

They did a great job. I feel confident going back to this company. It is hard to find such a good company. I will definitely use them again.
