Professional technician worked quickly and did not try to oversell.

Fine- came when they said they would and serviced the airconditioning unit. I have used this company for many years for heating and airconditioning and they are reliable and I don't feel they try to sell you new equipment unnecessarily.

Our air conditioner was not giving us much cool air. We called Appel, and someone came out the next day and checked it out. He said that the system was low in refrigerant, there was an extra filter in the return grill, which he removed. It was very clogged and reducing air flow. He said there was a note from a prior repairman attached to the air conditoner that we had a leak somewhere in the air duct which had not been found. It could be very difficult to find the leak, and could cost quite a bit for a repair. The following day, at our request, Nathan stopped by, arriving on time, and discussed either repairing or purchasing a new air conditioner. We told him we were having a party that weekend, and we were concerned about our house being hot. He said he would put in refrigerant to get us through the weekend, and that the airconditioner may continue to work through the summer if the leak is small. He did not charge us for the refrigerant. The next day he sent us a quote for a new air conditioner. As of today, July 8th, the air conditioner is still working fine. However, when the time comes that we need to buy a new air condtioner, we will definitely buy it from Appel.

On Friday afternoon the fan on the air conditioner stopped working. I called Appel after hours on Friday and the answering service assured me someone would call me Saturday morning. Appel called an scheduled an appointment for later that morning. Randy arrived, diagnosed the problem and gave me an estimate for the replacement. On Monday, Judy at Appel worked with me to schedule a time my mother in law could meet Randy. It had the potential to be a logistical nightmare and Judy made the process a very easy one. It is miserable to not have air conditioning in the heat of the summer. Appel went above and beyond to get mine repaired and running again in the shortest time possible.

This was my first experience with Appel. I was referred to them via someone in the business after I had a bad experience with my previous heating and AC company. I was pleased with Appel's service. The serviceman showed up early in the time frame I had been given. He was personable, completed the work and answered my questions. He took time to explain the pricing on the contract vs individual servicings. The special filter needed was available on the truck (this had sometimes been a problem with my previous servicing company). I was happy enough that I signed up for their maintenance program. Didn't try to sell me anything and actually indicated that my old AC could last another 5 years...a good thing!

Mr. Appel himself returned my call. Appel did not have a similar offer, however their regular (not via a 'special offer') estimate to replace both our AC and furnace was CHEAPER than the estimate we were given from the other company with the other company's 'special offer' for a "free" furnace. Additionally, Appel did not push a hard sell - in fact it was the opposite. They advised me that if our current units are working fine, don't replace them until we need to. Many other companies, such as the one I had received the advertisement for the 'free' furnace had the philosophy that it is better to replace the units now and take advantage of the 'special offer'. Turns out the 'special offer' from the other company was not so special! I really appreciated Appel's honesty and guidance!!!

Jay worked on the compressor and was very kind and efficient with his replacement. We wrote a check - well we had the motor go out a couple weeks prior and paid with a debit. I am not very good at keeping track of checks written so I do not balance a book or write checks as general rule. The work was excellent. I have used this company since I had my very first house in 1982. I have always had my furnace and air-conditioner serviced every year by Appel. I am trying to go for the longest & oldest furnace. Come to find out the check and the debit occured on the same time - well, I have never ever encouontered such a kind and forgiving company in all my 54 years of life; their employee Debra, listened to my story about how it wiped out my joint account and so she voided the debit and held the check - she will be paid on Thursday when I am paid. She did not want us to have a zero balance and truly cared and trusted that we would pay her with no kind of penalty!!! Working with a family owned business with such an excellent reputation is truly a blessing - their employee Debra is a blessing. She even emailed me the voided debit and ask for me to call when it was okay and I would have extra money to live ok and only then would she run the debit. I am in shock and feel so humble that a truly caring person would help out in these rough economic times and care about me as an invidividual. I highly recommend this company - Appel and will use this company forever - even if I don't get the oldest furnace award!!! Honest, caring people like this is just so hard to find. I know that holding my money back will probably hold them back on some cost somewhere therefore I will pay them promptly. Thank you Appel for having Debra at your desk in my time of need. May your company be blessed with good fortune now and forever. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Based on our past experience, I knew Appel would call immediately which they did. I described the problem and they were able to have a tech come to our home to see what the problem was. The tech was very professional, courteous and helpful. He confirmed that we had a compressor failure and that on Monday the office would call to make arrangements to get out to do an estimate. This is where things started to break down. When Appel called to set an appointment, they said Friday 5/20 was the first available date. To me, that meant a week without A/C. I called on three different occasions to see if we could work through the estimate on the phone. I received no call back until late Thursday, the day prior to the scheduled appointment. The individual called the wrong number and said "I was free to call him on his cell phone that evening". To me this was of no value ... they were coming the next day. On each of my follow-up calls I asked specifically if there was an installation timeline we should expect. The response was they were really backed up and couldn't commit at that time. At this point, I was facing the prospect of yet another week with no A/C. Based on a very positive experience with a sister company of another Heating and A/C company I called them. This company committed to determining the issue by that afternoon and were very confident that they could do the repair or new installation the next day (Saturday). This is all described in a separate report I called Appel and told them to cancel the appointment and that we would be going with another vendor. I am following up with Appel this week to walk through the various points of failure on their part. This last one, which caused us to move all our business, including service contracts on rental properties, was a direct result of repeated failures on their part with this last one being by far the most significant. In our case we had been customers of Appel for over 25 years ... and historically have had good performance ... but in the last two - three years we've been disappointed on multiple occasions and this most recent one was egregious.

Installers cared about quality of installation.

They came out on a scorching hot day. I was shocked at the price. I really thought it was going to be more. They told me in the beginning that they wouldn’t be able to come out on that particular day. They did come out at the end of the day and they did manage to fix the problem. I’ve never had a bad experience with them. They’ve been servicing my furnace probably for twenty years. I would definitely use their services again in the future.

We are in their program of having the work done in the fall and in the summer. So, we have a service contract with them. They are easy to work with and I don?t have any dislikes.

It is a locally-owned firm that provides both residential and commercial heating and cooling services. It is an excellent company. Their prices are competitive. They are very responsive and come when they say they are going to come. They did a job around 10-12 years ago and we have been using them ever since.

We love them. We have used them for 20 years and they are fabulous. They clean up well. They are prompt and courteous.

New furnace (May/10) stopped working around 9 p.m. Outside temperature was 20F. Called Appel around 9:30 p.m. On call technician arrived around 10:20 p.m. Determined problem was a bad breaker in the electrical panel. Breaker was replaced & furnace restarted by 11:30 p.m. As it was not a problem with the furnace (not covered by warranty), he charged us $127 for the service call. The next week Appel called & advised that they were returning the check to us. They waived all charges on the service call.

They are extremely good. It is one of the best businesses in the city. I have an annual maintenance contract with them. It's about $200 a year. They have incredible quality. The people are very competent and the equipment they put in is just top of the line. I would continue to use them in the future.

They were very prompt. Their costs seem to be less than other competitors. I priced them several years ago and their prices were less than others. I liked the work they did. They offered some specials in terms of maintenance and a discount on any work that was done subsequent to their platinum service plan. I would absolutely use them again.

It was very good. We had an excellent experience. They came out on a holiday weekend and they were able to get the part, get it fixed right away and get us back in heat. We would absolutely use them again.

They always know how to fix the problem.

I have been satisfied with them over the years. They are courteous. They seem to not recommend things that are not needed. They don't try to inflate the bill. They are prudent in their practices. I have used them for years, and I have no complaints. They are very responsive and cooperative. They try to do a good job in terms of scheduling. They are punctual.

Did seem knowledgeable, on time, friendly, what work was asked to be done was done well. The technician that came out acted like he really cared and inspected the wiring to make sure it was taken of and took the extra time to do a throughout job.

I have worked with other HVAC companies before but none better than Appel. They fixed a serious problem with a new air conditioner that was purchased and installed by another company. At my new residence they installed an Aprilair humidifier. They also installed a programable thermostat. I have always been happy with their service. They are punctual and I feel they operate with integrity. I was actully reffered to them by the people who provide many of the HVAC companies their products. I think they are the best in the business, their knowledge , honesty, and integrity really set them apart from the rest.

They have taken care of my furnace now for a little over 12 years. I have a platinum maintenance plan and I pay $200 a year and that takes care of my air conditioning, check ups, my furnace, my humidifiers, etc. A family member told me about them and I just feel so comfortable knowing that they are very professional and that I don't have to worry about someone doing shabby work or damaging my equipment where all of sudden I would have a big bill. I would tell people to hire them and maintain their equipment. The workers are very nice and the nicest one is Paul. Paul is so funny. He's got funny stories to tell. I would continue to use them in the future.

We have an annual service contract with them. They just seem to be really efficient. I don't have to think about it. I have that annual contract and when it is time, they call me up. They check if I am home and ask if they can come over. They come over and get it done. I don't have to worry about staying home. They work it around when I am there and they come by and take care of it. Their technicians seem to know what they are doing. I have not had any problems. I have not actually compared the prices for a while. I have just been happy with the work.
