Jo Levine listened to me and wanted to understand what my goals were for the room I was furnishing. She did not attempt to push me into buying furniture that exceeded my budget and offered options. She was enthusiastic and very patient while I was making decisions. She was helpful selecting fabrics and even paint to coordinate! Jo really went the extra mile and exceeded my expectations by calling me to report that she had found the toy my son lost at the store, by providing 8x8 paint samples, and giving me helpful tips.

Within two days (by 12/1/07) of the furniture's arrival, we asked our Gerdt salesman, Larry to our home to see for himself that the furniture was clashing with the room colors. He urged us to try living with the furniture for a while to see if our opinion did not change. Within 10 weeks, three interior designers from different businesses had visited our home. They all concluded that the furniture did not harmonize with our room colors. We hired one of the interior designers, and asked our Gerdt salesman if we shouldn't just send the furniture back. He suggested we wait to see if our interior designer might not change some colors allowing the furniture to harmonize. The interior design process took a total of four months, but about midway through, we called again, and again our Gerdt salesman suggested that we wait. Finally by 5/28/07, only one piece of the furniture was going to fit in with our decor, and we called again. He said the furniture was unreturnable

Response from GERDT FURNITURE & INTERIORS INC
The member received delivery of merchandise on Nov 11, 2006. His later contracts with our store were regarding design services from his designer, Larry Braniger, and regarding office furniture unrelated to this complaint. Larry Braniger informed him, early on, that the furniture could be returned, subject to a restocking fee, if the color didn't work for him. It is our stated policy that we allow seven days for the customer to notify us of problems. The fact is we strive o provide service above and beyond, and generally would have taken the product back even 30 days later. Additionally, if the ordered product is a saleable configuration we generally do not charge a restocking fee if the customer accepts a store credit. However, the member did not ask to return the merchandise for over 6 months. I spoke with his designer, now the store manager, and the receptionist. No one him the member he could return this furniture beyond the initial conversation with him. He did not ask Larry about returning the furniture until sometime in mid June. Customers have to take some responsibility for their decisions. If a person cannot determine whether a color will work in 30 days, they are not upholding their end of the transaction.
