I appreciated everything Don from Perma-Seal Basement Systems did. He took his time and explained everything. I believe I will never be able to do what I want at the cost of it. He was very professional and very good to deal with. I would hire the company, but I can't because of the cost. The job that they were going to do was just outrageously complicated. The experience was fine I just didn't have any work done. If I could use them I would feel comfortable using them.
Description of Work: I had Perma-Seal Basement Systems out, but I didn't hire them because it would have been to expensive.

We have used them for several projects in the basement. They are always efficient, reliable, and punctual. Furthermore, they clean up after themselves and do good work. The new windows are great.

The Perma-Seal salesman Robert Barscewski was very helpful with explaining the problem and the reason for it, and providing an estimate for repair. The work was done in two parts, one to level the foundation, which was repair a cracked and sinking corner of our house by boosting it up about 1.3 inches, and then part two leveling the flooring so that the U-shaped bend in the floor would be corrected and the floor would lay flat. All of this was done because our house painter, an independent contractor, suggested that we take care of this so that the cracks in the wall boards would stabilize. Then his repairs to the cracks in the wall boards would stay fixed and not continue to open up over time. We especially appreciated the foreman of the work crew, who came into the house and made sure that everything was done to our satisfaction. He was there for both the foundation leveling and the floor leveling. He was very courteous as well as experienced at this type of work.

The initial quote process was fast, friendly, and painless. As for the work itself, Permaseal arrived on time and quickly had the fix in place. I've waited over a year to write the review just to make sure, but so far it's been dry as a bone down there. Upon initial inspection it looks like the previous owner attempted their own fix prior to this, but clearly that didn't work out too well! My only gripe (minor) is that it took a month between the time I said "go" and their availability to do the work. I guess that speaks to the companies popularity though, and being busy is good for business.

They were a professional crew of two who cleaned up after themselves, and answered any and all questions about the injected materials, etc. I like the way the salesman handled the transaction, and they guarantee the work. If I had any leak from the area they patched, they would continue to work to resolve it so it didn't leak, and I believe they would. Has not leaked in over 8 months since they did the work. Very pleased, and would recommend them for basement work to anyone. DO - 1. Prepare the area by removing anything that would inhibit their access 2. If you had a rug in the area, check it for mold or mildew on the bottom. Even small leaks can cause problems enough to affect allergies if rug keeps getting partially wet. 2. If worried about concrete dust or mess from them removing debris from cracks before sealing, take plastic sheeting and enclose the area like a tent, leaving room for them to work. I found little to no mess upon arriving home, and was very pleased. DON'T - Don't wait to get the problem fixed. It was less expensive than I thought, and backed by a good warrantee.
Description of Work: Salesman identified original crack that had existed when we bought townhome. In addition, he found reason foundation cracked in first place, (builder had not put the necessary steel support above the window to support the weight at that spot of the first and second floors correctly) and explained what a contractor would have to do to fix the problem. He explained otherwise we would see additional cracks in the foundation in this area, no matter what a basement seal company did. I had another contractor resolve the flooring support issue of the first floor above the window, and then had PermaSeal come back to seal the two existing cracks. They repaired the two cracks under large window in basement wall with two different injected materials. The pounded injection nodules into the crack(s), and then injected a sealant that was forced through the crack from inside to outside. Then another sealant was used over the cracked area to bond the cement of the interior side of the crack together and prevent further degradation of the cement along the crack site(s). While topcoat cement bond did crack slightly after 5 months, no water came through because the first sealant was doing a good job.

The workers were professional, and swift with the labor and clean up. Clean up was excellent considering is was a rainy day. Every thing work when tested and has worked very well since. I am pleased with the lifetime warranty and know they will be there if something is wrong. You need to remove anything against the perimeter walls of the basement, e.g., washer/dryer, cabinets, tables, workbench, etc. Good opportunity to clean and paint if needed.
Description of Work: They fixed leaks in basement floor by digging and inserting drain hose at the interior perimeter of basement floor and directed the drainage to a new sump pump. I have not seen a drop of water since. I had this company replace another worn sump pump about a year ago.

I contacted Perma-Seal to evaluate my existing sump pump. Robert came out and was professional, punctual and educating. I had several questions for Robert throughout the evaluation and he took the time to show me what was causing my sump pump issues and how Perma-Seal could fix my problem. He provided several options and allowed for me to choose which one was best. Unlike other contractors, Robert was not a pushy salesman. He is a genuine professional who puts more emphasis on solving his customer's problems than trying to make a quick sale. About a week after the evaluation, a technician came out to my home and replaced my existing sump pump with a new primary and battery backup pump. The technician also addressed my concerns of a loud noise coming from the discharge pipe rubbing against underside of my floor joists. The technician installed bumpers and padding along the underside of my floor joists to reduce the vibration and noise. This was not within the scope of work; however, the technician wanted to make sure the job was done right and left me a satisfied customer. My pumps were installed in January 2012 and they have been working great. Based on my experience with Perma-Seal, I have referred them to two of my friends and had additional work performed this year by them at my home.

TONY GAGLIANO arrived promptly as promised and began a very thorough inspection which included both an exterior and interior exam. He took careful note of the water damage that we had sustained and then concluded that the water had NOT entered through the walls or flooring, but was in fact, from the pipes which had burst. He then spent another hour or so inspecting the surrounding grading, gutters, wall condition, mortar lines, etc..all areas from which water could cause future problems. He was extremely polite, thorough and professional and was not impatient with our endless questions. Based on his assurances, we were able to proceed with remediation of the damage and eventual refinish of the basement. He could have sold us an expensive repair of complete foundation excavation and sealing, drain tiles and sump pumps. Instead he provided us an honest evaluation, which resulted in zero money to Perma Seal. His inspection was free. It doesnt get anymore honest than this. I dont know the names of any other Perma Seal inspectors, but if I were looking for a thorough and honest evaluation, I would ask for Tony Gagliano. We thank him and apologize for the delay in providing this review.
Description of Work: Our basement walls had mold from water damage from a burst water pipe/drain. We were concerned that water was also entering the foundation walls and floor. We called Perma Seal for an estimate on waterproofing the area.

I was happy with the service. It has not been a year yet. Overall, they were good with the explanations and stuff. How they interacted with me, I have no complaints. They were with in ballpark with everybody else. It was a little more than we thought it would be. My only complaint was, not a lot of the workers spoke English, the head guy spoke English, so I could ask him questions. But, I could not ask any of the other workers questions because they did not speak English. The communication was hard. They were on time. They cleaned up and everything. I would recommend them.

While I'm giving this company an A rating, I have to take a few points off for how long it took to get the job done, and the long scheduling times. I guess that just shows how busy the company is, especially with the wide variety of basement services they provide. The orignal work was contracted on 9/15/12, scheduled and installed on 10/19/12, and ultimately was completed on 12/5/12 since the plumbing disconnected from basement sink needed to be replaced by a plumber. That being said, it still is a worthwhile upgrade over our previous sump system. The old system was very loud, and recoiled with a huge thud as it shut off. It was also uncovered and unsightly. The new system is completely silent and covered. We opted to not have a backup battery added, since we have a whole house backup gas generator. We wish that we had this done years ago. It was worth the price and wait.
Description of Work: Installed a dual sump pump system replacing an old noisy single pump in an open metal basin. As a side product of the work, the threads on the basement sink drain broke off, so they came out and replaced the sink and plumbing at a later date. The sump area involved widening the pit and inserting a plastic bin with two pumps, one as a back up in case the other pump fails. It also has a lid with an alarm that sounds at a high water level.

The experience overall was good. They came when they said and very professional. I thought the sales pitch at the time of estimate was a little too much. They estimated over $2000 in potential repairs? Though I might do some of them in the future it just produces unwarranted anxiety. The day of the water sealing was quick and they cleaned up after themselves fairly good which I appreciated.

The technician who came to fix the problem was very helpful and professional and completed the job within a reasonable time and did a great job.

Salesman came first. We explained the problem. He estimated that a seal would work, and quoted $250.00. We agreed on the spot. A workman came a few days later by appointment and filled the crack with a plastic epoxy, Took about 90 minutes. He cleaned up after himself, and the repair has held up ever since. Tom

It was a great experience. The Perma Seal representative walked me through all of the steps I could take to solve the leak problem even though it was not a Perma Seal project.
Description of Work: When I found some basement leakage near the area where I had a foundation leak sealed by Perma Seal last year, I called them to give me some advice. The Perma Seal representative determined that the leak was not from the previous foundation leak (that Perma Seal had repaired). However, he took the time to look more thoroughly into the problem, both inside and outside. He suggested I have the wall near the leak checked over by a tuck pointer. Long story short, tuck pointing was the perfect answer to the problem. I would never have thought of it if the Perma Seal representative had not checked things out so carefully and taken the time to give me some good advice.
