Everything went super smoothly. After first call, I had a visit and quote within 2-3 days from Tom, one of the owners. He explained everything - how it would be built, why we should choose certain things, and the pros/cons of going with one design or another. Everything felt like he wanted us to be a smart consumer so we would be happy with what we got. Was told it was high season and it would be approximately 8 weeks until deck could be built. Went a little longer than that, but when I called to check on start date, they were able to give me a more precise date which they hit. They were fast, had the old deck torn out and new deck built in 4 days. New deck is beautiful. The crew cleaned up everything. It was one of the most painless home improvement experiences we have ever had.

This is a great company to work with. Tom met with us at the beginning of the project, and we knew immediately that he would be our choice out of the five companies from which we received estimates. He was not the least expensive, nor the most expensive, but he was certainly the most professional. We met in July, and he let us know immediately that the project would not begin until the end of September. As it turned out, he was able to begin our project early, at the beginning of September. From the day that the project began, it went incredibly smoothly. The old porch was removed, and the debris was cleaned up the same day. They kept a perfectly neat worksite, and cleaned up after each day of work. The project went so quickly, start to finish in 4 days. The quality of the work is excellent. We always had 3, 4, sometimes 5 workers on the job, I can't say enough about how happy we are with this company. We have had contractors in the past, but never any that were as good as Georgetown Decks. I would not hesitate to use them again, or recommend them to others. We now have a beautiful front porch that I am sure will last for many years.

Working with Georgetown Decks was a pleasure. I was considering adding a screened room (gazebo-like) to my existing deck, and I have a few design limitations that made it difficult to figure out what was possible. The main concern is low-hanging power lines, but I also wanted a modern design (which meant a custom build). They did quite a bit of research and prepared some quotes, which were unfortunately too high for my budget (approximately $9,000-12,000, depending on materials and features). I was not surprised, but it was good to have confirmation instead of speculation. They were timely and responsive, and I would definitely consider working with them in the future (as my budget allows).

From start to finish, it was a pleasure working with Tom and Casey at Georgetown Decks. In the early stage of our project, Tom was extremely patient as my husband and I designed and re-designed the deck and traded emails with him with revised sketches and comments. He never once acted annoyed or bothered by our attention to detail or request for multiple revisions to our original deck plan. During the construction phase, Tom and Casey were both directly involved, each visiting our home at least one a day (many times two or three times a day) to monitor the construction and to check in with us. Around day 3 of the project we hit a snag when the construction crew accidentally built the steps leading down from the desk 1/2? from their intended place on the deck, causing them to not line up flush with the edge of the elevated deck. I pointed this out to Tom. Rather than try to convince me that the 1/2? didn't matter or try to pass the cost of fixing the mistake on to me, Tom actually said to the construction crew lead, ?The customer is always right and she wants this inset by 1/2?. I know it'll set you back an extra day to rebuild the steps but we'll pay you for it. We need to make the customer happy.? In today's business world, it was so refreshing to have Tom handle the problem that way. Also, while tearing out our old concrete deck, their machines accidentally tore up some of our grass (driving back and forth to the truck with the broken concrete over grass that had been recently saturated with rain). Without me even needed to ask, Corey told me that the company would pay to lay fresh sod over the damaged grass and the lawn was fully repaired (at their expense) the same day the deck was complete. I cannot recommended Georgetown Decks highly enough. They built us a beautiful deck on-budget and on-time.

i worked with both Tom and Corey at Georgetown Decks. They were professional, responsive and personable. I called for an estimate and received a quick call back to schedule a home visit. Tom came out to do the estimate. He was thorough, knowledgeable and patient. Tom provided an estimate the very next day (even though it was a Saturday)! Once we were on the schedule, Corey stayed in contact to keep us posted on when our job would begin. Both Corey and Tom showed up on the day the work was scheduled to start. They reviewed the specs and made excellent suggestions to improve the appearance of the deck. They even upgraded the design of the floor at no additional charge because of the availability of the lumber. They removed the old composite decking, railings and stairs. They reinforced any weak areas. It turned out beautiful! Their crew was very professional. They completed the work to specification and left the area clean. The job was finished for the price quoted. No surprises. I would use Georgetown Decks again and would recommend them to others without hesitation.

From start to finish the project went very well. Tom from Georgetown helped with the design of the deck. The schedule came next. Tom reviewed with us how it would happen from that point on. It was like very smooth. When the deck was completed it was better than we expected. Thank You Tom and Cory for a job well done.

We met with Tom who worked very closely with us designing the deck to best fit our needs and the existing landscape which included a large pin oak and an extensive hosta/lily garden surrounding it. The deck was to be somewhat irregular in shape with benches, railings and three sets of lighted stairs. We went back and forth discussing what material to use, eventually deciding on 428 square feet of Trex. All work was done impeccably, especially considering the rainy weather and numerous tree roots that made the placement of code approved footings most difficult, but with patience and perseverance, it was accomplished. The entire project took a little more than a week, including delays due to weather, and it was a wet spring. The deck is fantastic, more than we hoped it would be. The workmanship is flawless. The garden was barely touched and the clean up was like they were never there at all. Every person we dealt with from Georgetown was most professional and genuinely concerned with the project. Every phone call was either answered directly or returned promptly. I would definitely use Georgetown again and highly recommend their services.

Georgetown Deck was beyond amazing in the product of their work and the professionalism they displayed. Tom took the time to sit with my husband and I to map out a design that worked best for us and our house. Their prices were lower than all of the other contractors we looked at. Tom was out at the job site several times and I received several calls from Cory to ensure that everything was progressing smoothly. Georgetown also took care of the demolition and removal of our old deck and secured all the permits we needed. It was easy for us! I would STRONGLY recommend this company for anyone looking for a deck upgrade and/or replacement.

Georgetown was one of several decking company estimates we received - the prices were all similar. It was the demeanor, professionalism and attention to detail of the owner/estimator that first impressed us. He was very interested in understanding how we planned to use the deck and then provided suggestions based on those discussions. For example, the top deck, off the kitchen, was planned as a grill and prep area. He explained that the size of that tier needed to be a bit larger than we designed to accomodate that properly - and was he right! It would not have worked as we originally designed. (The other companies were just quoting/building it to what we designed.) The height of the lower deck was important considering we're on the corner and didn't want to be on stage when we sat outside. He gave great visual suggestions so we could insure we didn't build it too high or too low. We also had a catch basin in the yard that really complicated the build considering we wanted to maintain good access to it and keep the octagon shape design that included several entrance/exits. Georgetown went above and beyond to work the integrity of the design aesthetic around that obstacle. There were also color options that made a big difference - making it two toned was their suggestion and its so classy. We also opted for lights in the stairs so we didn't worry about anyone missing a step - and they ended up being such a nice mood setter. All these added touches we love so much are only there because the owner cared enough to talk about every detail. The deck itself is built so well. The crew was amazing! They worked incredibly hard. They kept the area clean. It took 5 days to complete. The finished product is impeccable - every detail was pure quality craftsmanship - and we got an even better design than we orginally envisioned. We LOVE our new deck. It was a big expense but so worth it! Its maintenance free and just beautiful. We've used it so many times this summer - and when we're not outside, we're enjoying it from our kitchen window. We strongly recommend this great company!

Tom, one of the owners, arrived at our house on time to look at the project and start on an estimate for our project. We received a professional quote and rendering of our new deck via email the next day. His terms stated "At Georgetown Decks, Quality, Integrity and Reliability is our promise to you. Be assured that this is a promise that we intend to honor." It goes on to say that Tom will "personally oversee the project..." Pros: The finished deck looks good. Corey, the other owner, was in touch with us almost daily to provide updates on progress and how the workers will get the project done while it seemed that the rain would not stop. Despite the poor weather, the crew finished our cedar deck in a little over a week and completed the job at 9:00 pm on a cold, dark and rainy spring evening. The finished product appeared exactly like the rendering provided at the time of contract. We are excited to use it this summer. Cons: A little less than 48 hours after the deck was completed, we noticed a crack in the wood, about a 1/2 inch from the edge of the second step leading to the patio. It was clear to us that, with continued use, the crack would split off and part of the stair would be gone in short order. We will use the steps many times per day to access our backyard and garage. The 3 ft long plank needed to be replaced. There was also a crack on one of the railings but that wasn't something we would tread upon so we weren't too worried. I snapped a few photos and emailed them to both Tom and Corey asking what we should do. Tom returned my call and left a voice message. In his message he stated that typically wood cracks but THIS TIME he will fix the problem. Then he asked for full payment and mentioned he would try to get someone out to look at the cracks and repair them. My husband called him after listening to Tom's message and they got into an argument. Tom was extremely defensive about the cracks, mentioned again that wood cracks and told my husband he had an attitude from the beginning because my husband thought he was being overcharged. Stating that your customer has an attitude is probably not the best thing to say when the paying customer has a minor concern about the newly-finished project, right? This was about two cracked planks - that's it. Not the end of the world. But Tom completely lost it on the phone. We were shocked. Tom then brought up that he wasn't going to charge us for the electrician to fix the underground line that his crew hit when digging in our backyard. That wasn't his fault. My husband then stated that it wasn't his fault either because he didn't personally dig a hole and hit an electrical line. We thought this meant we should feel lucky that Tom wasn't charging for the electrical repair service so we should just deal with a cracked step on a brand new $6,200 cedar deck. My husband reminded Tom that he hasn't come out to see the cracks yet so why are we arguing. Tom backed down from his demand of full payment, apologized, said he was having a bad day and we agreed to pay $2,000 for Tom to pick up when he arrived to look at the cracks while we weren't at the residence. Once the cracks were fixed and the deck passed inspection with the City, we paid the balance via US Mail. I was so ready to write a good review and recommend Georgetown Decks to numerous other friends (with much larger projects and budgets) who were waiting to see how our project went. Again, the deck really does look amazing. In our last conversation, Corey asked for a positive review. I couldn't be convinced to ignore the unpleasant conversation with Tom while providing an honest review. I wasn't even going to mention the cut electrical line (such a tiny non-issue) in the review until Tom made it a point of discussion. We were disappointed with how vile the owner responded to us and his initial reluctance to stand behind his finished project without lashing out at a paying customer.
Description of Work: Georgetown demolished our existing wood deck and replace it with a new, slightly larger cedar deck, about 170 sf. They also replaced a stairway leading from the deck to a patio.

I have decided to put off doing the pergola at this time but I wanted to recommend Georgetown Decks as a reliable, professional service provider. Tom called, came out and then promptly gave me a written estimate by email and then a follow up call to explain in detail what he did, what he saw, and what he recommended. Unlike other contractors that just blew me off because it was not the biggest project they could grab, Georgetown treated my request very professionally and honestly. I will use this company in the future for any remodel projects that come up.

They were truly great from start to finish! They were on time, on budget, very professional and did great quality work. I would be very comfortable recommending them to anyone needing deck work. We are also very glad we spent the extra money to go with the low maintenance composite decking materials vs. high maintenance wood.

We've been waiting for over 6 years to be able to do this, and could finally invest in the kind of deck we wanted. We were looking for a builder who specialized in composite decking for ease of maintenance, green and sustainability features and quality work. I called six Angie's list builders, got three return calls. Georgetown called within 20 minutes of my first inquiry and set up an appointment within a week. When Tom Reinhofer came out, he sat down and talked with me about what we wanted to use the deck for, why we wanted composite, what kind of size and shape - very detailed and professional. He brought lots of pictures of previous jobs which gave me a good idea of size and scope of projects they have done. He left me with a list of references and had a proposal with dimensional drawings to me within 48 hours. He gave us quotes on cedar and on Trex Transcends composite and I was happy to see the Trex fit within my budget range. I had two other contractors from my initial list call me back, one did come out, give us a beautiful design and a proposal, but the cost per square foot using the same materials was almost twice as high. The other was trying to talk me out of composite from the minute I gave her my budget. Two others called back and said we were too far out of range for their services. Price was not our deciding factor, but it did make a difference in the end. Tom's design complements our backyard without overwhelming it. The new deck is almost twice the size of our old deck, but with the features he built in and how he designed it, it is a not only a space that looks beautiful, but improves the overall look of the yard & house. We called several of Georgetown's references, all had nothing but wonderful things to say about their experience with the company, the quality work on their project and how much they liked the composite materials. This summer (2013) was apparently a busy one for many companies, and Tom told me up front in May it would probably be the middle of July with their schedule. With the rains this summer, it ended up being the beginning of August, but they kept us updated with what was going on. They began on a Thursday, the crew (Fred & John) were amazing. The day they were digging the post holes, their gas powered borer broke on the second one, so they stayed and hand dug the post holes (8 total) until they were finished - almost sunset. They could have left and waited to come back when the equipment was repaired, but they wanted to be ready for the village inspector. They poured concrete Saturday with the intent of building on Monday. They arrived on time every day, the quality of craftmanship on this deck is fantastic. The inspector even said he hadn't seen such a well-built frame in a long time. Once they began with the composite, it took about 4 days to finish. I am so impressed with quality of this deck - it is beautiful. The attention to detail, neatness and quality work show throughout the entire deck. The cleanup crew came about 7:00 p.m. the last night of the project and stayed until 10:40 p.m using worklights to clean up the demo'd deck and yard. I am very happy we chose Georgetown - Tom, Corey, John & Fred, thanks! I send grateful thoughts to you every night we're out enjoying our new deck. I can see why they are a Platinum designated Trex builder and would confidently recommend them.

Called Georgetown Decks and spoke to Cory about replacing my wood porch with a Trex composite porch. A couple of days later his business partner Tom showed up to size up the job and to give me a cost estimate. The estimate sounded good and the job was placed on their list of projects two months out (which seems to be a normal waiting time to get a job done in the summer). Cory kept in touch with me at various times during the waiting process. After two months of waiting, two of their workers (John and Fred) showed up to do the job. These two fellows know what they are doing. Without any fuss or bother they completed the job in less than two days and they were gone as fast as they had arrived. Cory called a couple of times while the job was being done to check up on how the job was going. He came over to my house after the job was completed to see the finished product. The Trex composite material is solid and strong. Georgetown Decks had the material delivered on time. They had debris from the old porch taken away immediately. The cost estimate and the final total cost were exactly the same dollar amount. Georgetown Decks does great work. One of the best and most efficient construction companies around this area.

We chose Georgetown because Tom was the most informative and helpful of about 6 contractors. (2 were recommended by friends) He explained things to me in detail and he kept our budget in mind the whole time. Our final project is very different than what we started out discussing; but I love it! We started out wanting French doors. We ended up with French door sliders due to heating/cooling advantages. Glad we did that! Tom found an Anderson door that I liked which was within my budget. We really wanted maintenance free decking, but the cost was very high. Tom was able to build a 240 sf deck out of Trex and all I have to do is hose it off to clean it up. We wanted a pergola to keep the interior shaded and cool, so the pergola is made of aluminum -- also maintenance free. They provided me with a CAD rendering of our project at no additional cost. That sealed the deal for my husband! It looked beautiful! At the last minute, I happened to see a home where the pergola was at the opposite angle, and they were able to change it for me as well. The crews came on time, did quality work and cleaned up well at the end. They were polite and worked VERY hard, especially the pergola which had to be assembled one piece at a time. When they left at night, they left some of their tools in a neat, safe pile, as we have a 7 year old in the house. We opted not to have skirting around the deck and we plan to put a raised flower bed around it instead. We wanted to put 2 light fixtures and 2 electrical outlets outside, plus 2 electrical outlets and a switch inside. Tom arranged for an electrician. He even had him fix a couple things inside the house. (If I had known, I would have left a list . . . :) ) I picked out the light fixtures and purchased them myself, but the electrician suggested where to mount them. Good choice. Tom and/or Corey came by periodically to look in on things and called me every day to be sure that I was happy with the progress. I have never done anything like this before, and I truly appreciated their suggestions and expertise. Things proceeded as planned. I wanted the drywall to be a bit more finished in the dining room, so Corey had someone come out for that even after we made the last payment. In my opinion, these guys are professional, ethical people who are interested in doing a great job. I HIGHLY recommend them. Some of the other contractors that we didn't use were not good listeners. They wanted us to do things their way. Tom asked me questions and then made suggestions, many of which were quite good and we adopted them. Most importantly, they didn't try to pad the budget. I gave them a dollar amount and they stayed within that budget. The material they used was beautiful and exactly what I wanted. I wish they did patio work . . . We plan to have them back next year to rebuild our old side deck.

, We called Georgetown and received a quick response from the owner, Tom. He came out to measure and give us an estimate for a complete deck tear down, haul away, and replacement. We were undecided as to what material we would go with, or what size and configuration the new deck should be. Tom was very thorough and detailed in his explanation and made it easy to understand what the cost would be for each different material we might choose. He also sent computer designed pictures of the proposed decks which made it easy to visualize what the finished deck would look like. The permit was obtained quickly and the work began the next week. The workmen were very fast and efficient and John was always willing to explain the progress and listen to suggestions. Our new Trex Transcend deck is beautiful and the quality and craftsmanship definitely show. I would recommend Georgetown Decks to anyone.

Our new deck is beautiful and exactly what we envisioned. The owner Corey and his manager Tom were very professional and responsive. Both Corey and Tom were very willing to make multiple visits to make sure we received exactly what we expected. At the end of the project there were a few things we wanted changed or fixed and they were very responsive and made sure we had exactly what we wanted for no extra charge. My experience with Georgetown Decks made me realize there is top quality contractors out there that are truly interested in what the customer wants. We were very impressed!!!
Description of Work: Georgtown deck gave us a very competitive bid to remove our existing wood deck and replace with a Trex deck. Our deck has 2 staircases, walkway with walk down steps to the main deck. The overall size of the project was ~1900 square feet. The project took ~ 3 weeks to complete. The crew that came to our house were very professional and very detail oriented. The overall experience with Georgetown Decks in tackling such a large project was excellent.

Once we described our ideas of a two-tier deck and some reference picture, Tom is very helpful from the start to work us on our deck design. The quote was among also competitive among 4 quotes we got, and we choose Georgetown based on overall professionalism and their experience. Work started on time. Tom made a lot of effort to visit the site and communicate with their twp-person crew on details. When it comes to Gazebo installation, they called the company to clarify the installation instruction. Since we have the customized Gazebo and privacy screen, we spent a lot of time discussing how they will be done. Tom was very helpful to make sure our expectation is met, especially when we had some new ideas in the middle of the project. They are also very helpful in the Village inspection process.

This was an excellent experience in all categories. We were given a straight forward explanation from the owners Tom and Corey, on what our project entailed, including products to be used and how it would be constructed. Most importantly is the quality of workmanship completed by Daniel and his partner. They worked tirelessly in the rain and mud to complete our project in a timely manner. Any questions were worked out quickly. Thank's to the whole team we had a Great experience! People have come to our home to ask about our great looking deck and we were more than happy to recommend them!

GDC offered several different options and was the only company to suggest doing only the decking in composite for a lower cost. They also offered several suggestions on railings and other options and places where we could go to see some of their work. The GDC workmen were very careful and precise in their building and it shows. They worked everyday when the job started and continued until they were finished. They were craftsmen. We are very happy with are new deck and glad that GDC did the work.
Description of Work: GDC stripped off my old deck (30 x 20) down to the supports and replaced the pressure treated decking and railing with a composite decking. They added a cedar railing and replaced the old steps in cedar. The old skirting was replaced in cedar also. They hauled away the old wood - included in the price.

I initially called Georgetown Decks because I wanted to build a deck and they build decks using various types of materials. I had read numerous reports on the internet about problems with Trex and because of this I was very nervous about using the Trex material. The problem with the internet is that people voice their complaints but there's no dates as to when they made these complaints. As I said, Georgetown builds decks with various materials but they are also a Platinum Provider for Trex. Corey made me feel very much at ease with my decision to use Trex. He explained that there had been problems with an earlier version of the product but he explained to me the changes that Trex made to correct all the problems. They were extremely helpful with the time and my concerns. We had a number of things we wanted handled is a certain way and they did everything that we asked. The deck is absolutely beautiful. We are extremely happy with the work that was done, with the guys who did the work and with the service that Georgetown Decks provided. I would have no doubts about hiring this company!
