This was an unusual deal because I had to organize everything remotely. Marian performed perfectly from from the estimate to the installation to the hauling away of the old carpet. The floor looks great and it was done with real care and on time. What more can you ask for? I would highly recommend and use them again.

Marian is amazing. Returned phone calls, was very punctual, kept to my schedule- which was very important since I moved out of state. The hardwood on the floors was pretty beat up, and I needed the project within a very short time frame. Anyone considering redoing their floors should call Marian. ***** 5 Stars :)

It went very well. Marian exemplified a great deal of professionalism and was a very nice person. Not only did he do a great job at fixing my hardwood floors, but he also taught me how I could do it myself in the future. I would absolutely recommend his services to others. Additionally, he is very affordable compared to the competition. Also, he followed up with me for a few days after he performed his services to ensure that I was happy with the results of his work. All around, this was a pleasant experience.

Marian was very personable and professional. He cares about his work and it shows. He never worked with cork before and went out of his way to learn about it so it would be done correctly. The floor looks beautiful.

Marian did the entire job exactly on schedule and exactly to my specifications. Priorities were quality of work, schedule and then price. Marian delivered beautifully on all three, and the price was below my expectations. Bravo!

Marion was extremely punctual and professional. He answered all our questions and was very responsive by phone and email. The work took as long as he had predicted and looked as nice as he had promised. He and the crew cleaned up most of the dust, and I went over everything with a damp towel after they finished. We are very happy with the service and will use them again in the future.

Marion and his crew came to our house starting on May 22,2013 and completed the job on May 28, 2013. Every morning Marion and his crew would arrive promptly at 9:00 a.m.. And every morning Marion would greet us with a cheery "Hello, Good Morning," and then straight to work he and his crew went.. Marion constantly kept us up to date on what they were doing and checking with us to make sure that we were happy with what they had been doing so far. Marion actually drove me to Home Depot to help me pick out the spindles for our stairs and made recommendations for stain color that turned out beautifully. I have worked with contractors before but I have never worked with any that had such high work ethics. They work long and hard. I like the fact that Marion is there everyday not only overseeing the job, but getting in there and doing the work too. I felt guilty at times because they never seemed to take a well deserved break. They were so serious about the job and having us like what they did. You could tell they put their heart and soul into this job, as if they were working on their own homes. We so appreciate that. And the job that they did...the floors and staircase are just gorgeous. We love them and couldn't be happier! I definitely recommend them to anyone who wants to have beautiful hardwood floors installed.

Marian is prompt, reliable, and does excellent work. He had excellent judgement about dealing with difficult parts of the job (for example, creating a good-looking separation between the old floor and the new floor). His advice about how to do the job was great, and I was pleased with my choice when I used his ideas. In addition, and most important in any big job, I never had trouble reaching him to talk about a question or issue and he was willing to come back quickly to fix small problems that came up after the job was done. I would definitely use his services again and recommend him strongly!

Showed up on time for the appointment and provided a simple quote. We had another guy over right before to give us a quote and he was still there when MW showed up, which I think upset him so he was a little short with us. He was very quiet and not as helpful with questions I think because he knew we were getting multiple quotes. Price was inline with others, maybe on the high side, but we didn't use him because he wasn't as nice and outgoing as the others we talked to.

Marion, the owner of Midwest Hardwood Floors, Inc., and his crew removed all the carpet from our master bedroom walk-in closet & one home office are. (We undertook this change from carpet to wood to help with my husband's allergies. ) They did the lion's share of work removing and temporarily finding space in other areas of our apartment for the existing furniture, first. Then they took up the carpet. They carefully removed moulding, installed sub-floor over existing concrete, laid in beautiful new Brazilian cherry wood floor, re-installed the moulding, all with meticulous attention to detail. Lastly they came back and replaced the furniture and attached small pads throughout to keep us from making scratches. It's gorgeous - done on time and within budget.

I hand-selected Midwest (i.e., Marian) over all other contractors because I had used a different contractor on past projects and was not satisfied with the outcome. I felt I would get a better outcome if I used Midwest, and I was correct. Marian met me and measured the floor. We then discussed the color, which was critically important to me. The floor was originally a natural finish but I wanted to change it to a very dark color. We ultimately agreed to a stain mix of 50% Ebony/50% Jacobean. This mix allowed the floor to be very dark but to retain its grain. Marian and one other worker personally performed the work and sent me pictures during the day to show me how the project was progressing. When he encountered a damaged section of the floor, he immediately contacted me, sent me photos, and suggested a repair, which I approved. Ultimately, the floor turned out beautifully. The color and sheen are absolutely beautiful. I sent Marian pictures of the unfurnished space to post on his website, and once I get the space decorated, I will send additional photos. The dark floors combined with my particular furniture is going to look spectacular. I strongly recommend Midwest Hardwood Floors to anyone who is looking for a responsive contractor who is willing to work closely with the customer to ensure they get the outcome they desire. I'm completely satisfied with my floors and will certainly use Midwest again.

Midwest Hardwood did a FANTASTIC job on the installation of new red oak hardwood floors in my home! They installed hardwood in our five bedrooms and two staircases during two weeks ? this area was previously carpeted. The house has some unique features, including a curved central staircase and floating stairs, and they worked hard to make these challenging spots perfect. Marian is very detail-oriented, meticulous and honest, and he is very concerned with making sure that he gets the results that the customer wants. He asked for my input throughout the process and always had good opinions on how to make things better. He even gave advice on a floor re-finishing project that I was working on downstairs ? I got stuck re-finishing parquet floors by myself after a different set of floor re-finishers refused to sand them, and Marian gave a lot of advice on how I should glue loose parquet tiles, what stain to use, etc. He really did the job of the other floor guys for them, in addition to doing his own job in the bedrooms! It's hard to give a review on Angie's List sometimes because you don't know what other contractors are like, but since I was working with two flooring contractors at the same time (Marian for the red oak and a different guy for the parquet re-finishing), I could clearly see that Midwest Hardwood is one of the best in the business! Marian and his crew arrived on time (or early) every day and worked carefully all day with few breaks. He even brought in extra workers to make sure that the project was done on time. They cleaned up each day after they left and were very nice guys. Marian worked hard to retain the baseboards ? he had to remove them to lay the hardwood, and if they were broken we'd have to pay him to make new ones. None of them were broken! They never tried to over-sell us and the project came out right at the estimated cost ? not over cost. Every day he showed me what they were working on and gave me a progress update. The finished floors look phenomenal ? they are beautifully laid and flawless, and they perfectly match the other red oak details in the house. The curved staircase is really a work of art ? they spent several days on it, and the details are exquisite ? there are no seams or gaps in the wood. My husband and I are so thrilled with the results, and we highly recommend Midwest Hardwood to anyone who is looking for help with any type of flooring project!

Promptly returned my call. Arrived on time for estimate. Knowlegdable about was was needed for the look I wanted to achieve. Provided professional recommendations as to how to proceed and steps involved. Completed work on time and at cost.. Would hire them again.

From the moment we called Marian inquiring about his services, an estimate, etc. He was pleasant, knowledgeable and came out for the estimate the same day. He showed up, took his shoes off at the door, and took measurements. The quote was given on the spot and my husband was impressed by his knowledge of wood flooring. We decided to proceed and were scheduled about 3 weeks out. To our surprise Marian called about 2 weeks early and said that he could get us in sooner. He arrived on time with two other men and started the work right away. He even sent pictures of the progress via email of a few bad areas that I thought would not be repairable. I was wrong because all of the worn areas were good as new. The work was completed in two days with virtually no dust :) To top it off the floors look AMAZING! Thanks Marian and crew!!

I am performing an extensive rehab on a townhome that I just purchased. It has hardwood floors on all three levels. They were in very rough shape. Not to mention we removed a wall and under the wall there was very old carpet as the hardwood floors were installed after the wall was put up. There were two areas that needed repair as once we removed the old carpet there were areas that needed hardwood planks (approximately 6-10 planks) Marian told me that it would be very difficult to match and you would certainly be able see that it was a patch job. I figured I could just put a rug over the mismatch and all would be good. Imagine my surprise when I went to review the work and I couldn't tell where he patched it! Unbelieveable!!!. He did an awesome job and I would recommend him to anyone, and in fact, already have. The floors look brand new. I am absolutely thrilled with the work He is trustrworthy, professional, and very, very, good at his profession. Do not hesitate to use him.. Also, I am in the SW suburbs and he is on the north side and he had no issue coming quite a ways to perform the work!

I contacted Marian about refinishing our stairs and he was able to do it that week! The process was easy and the guys were very nice. We love how the stairs look now. They also fixed a stain in the hardwood in our foyer that I thought was going to be there forever. Highly recommend this company! Will be using them when we need the rest of our floors refinished.

Marian came over and did an evaluation of our flooring. We have some damage to our main living area and were wondering what we needed to do. Eventually, given all of the information, we decided to just refinish the stairs and upstairs hardwoods. Marian came while we were out of town and performed the service. He called us each day to let us know of his progress. He also suggested that we not use the stain that we were going to originally use and just to let the natural colors of the wood shine. This was a great suggestion. We love the end results. Everything was clean, professionally finished, and pricing was consistent with estimate. We will use Midwest Hardwood Floors again.

The whole process was very easy. He was able to meet me on a Sunday to give an estimate. Then because an appointment was pushed back he was able to redo the floors the very next day.

Marian was very responsive right from the beginning throughout the job, keeping me informed of dates and times. He provided a quote right away, honored the Angie's list discount, and worked with me to determine when the work could be done between other renovation work going on, and even provided helpful advice as to how we should prep the area and the order in which some other work should be done (after cabinet removal but before painting). Once the job started, they were great about communicating what to expect; they were very clean, (dustless method is virtually dustless). They fixed the broken floor vent so that it is flush with the floor and even built a very nice matching frame for it where the broken pieces were before that you could see through to the basement. The floors look terrific, like brand new hardwood floors! They got the job done in two days, right on schedule. Without hesitation I can recommend Marian and Midwest Hardwood Floors highly.

Purchased a 4 room apartment that required serious resurfacing and refinishing of the hardwood floors. Got a number of quotes and Midwest Hardwood was the most competitive. Marian was very informative about what he would deliver and delivered what he promised, ahead of schedule. The results were excellent and made a huge impact to the look of the apartment. Would have no hesitation in using Midwest again or recommending them to anyone else who needs a similar service.

Beginning with my first phone call to request an estimate, Marian of MHF was very responsive and attentive. He came to the house on a Sunday to review the existing floors and, upon receiving the down payment, was able to begin just a few days after. The floor refinishing took about four days to complete including the drying time for two coats of semi-gloss finish. The results are impressive: the wood floors have a new life to them and the replacement boards dovetail nicely into the existing floor. Overall I really appreciate the quality work by Marian and his crew, thank you.

We had four quotes prior to hiring Midwest Hardwood Floors, ie., Marian, Valentin, and Christian. They were not the cheapest or the most expensive. However, Marian spent the most time evaluating what needed to be done. His reviews on this site were better than the other companies. We selected Midwest and were not disappointed. Professional, timely, and all the workers really cared about the result. We added in the refinishing of an additional floor midway through the project. Marian and his team worked the weekend to complete the project. Most importantly, the Brazilian cherry floors are excellent. We have one more floor and set of steps that need refinishing. The next time we go on vacation we will ask Midwest Floors to do this work.

When we first started the project we had Midwest Hardwood Floor, Inc come out and give us an estimate for hardwood floors in the living room and dining room. During that time I also went out and got quotes from 3 other contractors. We had Midwest Hardwood Flooring come back a couple ot times because of some questions regarding the flooring that was to be put in the dining room was going to be put on top of linoleum over a concrete, and maybe having to make some adjustment to the front door. So we did some brainwashing, and came up with the idea of putting ceramic tiles in the entryway. So doing the few times we had come back back we made the decision to have hardwood flooring in the kitchen and we are so glad we did! We are so pleased with the results, words cannot express how much we are! It was such a pleasure to have Mr. Grosu do the work! He is so dedicate and genuine with what he does and says, that there is no way anyone should have any doubt in what he says or tell you what to do--he is the expert! We truly love the work that was done, and if if there is ever a need for more work to be done in our home, he is going to be our first choice! We are living in a totally new home! Marian and Valentine were great. Most of the flooring was in pretty bad shape and Marian was very honest about what he thought should be repaired / fixed and what wasn't worth it. (I generally agreed. I have been rehabbing the property and have fixed / sanded floors before myself.) They did a great job, really tried to sand out and fix some sections that weren't fixable, and cared about how everything would come out in the end. I would highly recommend them.
