Our 12 ft by 24 ft concrete crawlspace is only 3 feet high (after crawling through an old window opening to gain access to the crawlspace) tapering down at the far end to less than 2 feet high. I had installed batts of insulation under the family room floor (as far as I could) in the past because the floor was cold. After the 9 inch rain we had a few years ago moisture showed up in the crawlspace for the first time in 20 years and mold appeared on the backing of some sections of the insulation I had installed. I removed those portions of insulation. Crack Attack recommended removing the rest of the insulation and spraying foam insulation along the top of the foundation and sill plate which would seal and insulate. The technician who arrived on the day of the appointment was over 6 feet tall - definitely too tall to get into the narrowest part of the crawlspace! He stated that the tech who was supposed to come (and was the correct size to work in the entire crawlspace) had a family emergency but they could still at least start by removing old insulation and fixing the basement wall crack (which they had identified in a previous visit and planned to do in conjunction with the crawlspace work). The correctly sized smaller tech came a couple of days later to complete the work in the crawlspace (installing insulating foam and then fogging the crawlspace to eliminate mold/mildew). I was at work that day so I didn't get to meet him or see how he was able to access the low section of the crawlspace but inspected the work afterwards to see that the entire crawlspace was sealed. The family room floor is not as cold as it used to be and after the 6 inch rain that came down in the past couple of days there is no indication of moisture in the crawlspace. We are very pleased with the work performed and the professionalism and courtesy shown by the technicians.
Description of Work: Inspected crawlspace under our family room prior to performing the Crawlspace Mold/Mildew Fogging Treatment we had contracted for. Identified areas where moisture was coming in between foundation and sill plate in the crawlspace. Recommended spraying insulating foam to seal off moisture in addition to the Fogging Treatment. During previous basement inspection they identified a crack in the wall that had not been previously repaired and provided a remedy and estimate stating that the work could be completed during the visit to do the crawlspace work which we accepted.

I had called 3 companies on Wednesday 4/13. One never responded, one couldn?t make it out to do an estimate until Monday and Matt called me right back and came out Thursday night. He knew exactly what the issue was and gave us an estimate, he applied an Angie's list discount as well. His crew was a bit late but that was due to the flooding. Willie did call and let us know that they were on the way. The job was completed in one day, the room and outside area was left cleaner that it was before they started and they were professional and courteous and funny too! I will use them again and I highly recommend them.
Description of Work: We had extreme seepage and no sump pump. Crack Attack took down the drywall, took up the tile floor and dug a pit, put in the pump and correct our drainage problem outside our basement door. The saved as much of the tile as they could and did a great clean up after they were finished.

I couldn't be happier with their service. They were awesome. My crawl space had no vapor barrier at all when I bought my house, and there was an odor that came up from there. I called Crack Attack team to get an estimate for doing whatever had to be done to get rid of the smell. I knew it needed at least a vapor barrier, I did not know what else. Matt came out to give me an estimate. He went down and inspected and suggested that I put a liner in across the floor and a few feet up the walls, and have spray-foam insulation around certain areas (I think he said "sill boxes" but I can't remember). It was completely dry down there so he didn't think I needed anything more than that. There was also a lot of garbage down there, and some ancient disgusting insulation around the walls which he said was probably a lot of what was causing the bad smell -- he said they would dispose of all the trash down there. I also needed them to add some steel posts to the areas where the main beams were supported by bricks, and I needed a new crawl space access hatch (the old one was warped and in an inconvenient location). He quoted 3500 for all of this. Then I asked if he could take a look in my yard because the patio is sloped towards the house, and I wanted to know his opinion on what I could do for that. While we were back there, he asked what I was planning to do with the area of the yard that was all cracked and ugly old concrete (just conversationally), and I said that I wanted to get rid of the concrete but felt like it would be too much trouble. He then offered to take out all the concrete for me for no extra cost! They came out to do the work on a very rainy day. They went down to start the work, and found big puddles of water down there. My dad was there on my behalf as I could not take off of work, so they showed him where the issue was, and explained that the only way to stop the water from coming up was to put in drainage tiles and a sump pump. They told him how much it would cost, but then immediately took a few hundred off of that because they felt bad for raising the price from their original quote. So, the new price was 5500 -- 2000 more than I was expecting. My dad then called me and had them explain it all to me, and I said that I wanted them to do this. A few hours later my dad called me again and said that there was a new problem -- there was so much water coming up that they were afraid it would eventually go through the seams of the liner. They said that they wanted to do it right the first time rather than just put in the liner and leave, knowing that I'd eventually get flooding down there again anyway, and that the only real permanent solution was to seal the whole crawl space with concrete. Then he said that they felt bad for having raised the price once already, so they had decided they would not charge me any more to have this done! They weren't able to finish it all in one day, but they came back a few days later to finish. The fact that they cared so much about doing a good job for me regardless of how much they got paid means a lot to me. I feel like I won a prize, getting them to come do my crawl space. I got way more than my money's worth, and I'm no longer worried about my crawl space at all. They also spent a lot of time cleaning up after themselves, and left no trace of a mess in my house. I think they may have even left it cleaner than it was before they came!
Description of Work: They put drainage tile all around the perimeter of my crawl space, and installed a sump pump, then put in a vapor barrier and poured concrete to seal the crawl space. They also fixed some support beams, added a new crawl space hatch, and removed some concrete from my yard that I had wanted to get rid of.

After a couple of missed phone calls, an appointment was set. Contracted for additional work over and above what the actual coupon called for, inlcuding foundation crack repair and sealing of crawl space rather than simple vapor barrier installation. Crew was on-time, friendly and polite, and appeared to have done a good job - though I can't say I went an crawled aroung the crawl space...lol.

Matt and his Crack Attack team did some amazing work. Early in the drain tile install they unearthed a cracked sewer pipe from the sewer stack to the city sewer. It was also not draining properly. They jumped into action and worked on clearing the pipe for quite some time. When they were not seeing the expected results they turned to the catch basin. There they found the remains of deteriorated toilet paper that was backing up from the blocked city sewer line. Plan ?B?. Get someone in to clean the catch basin. They arrived in less than 1 hour, vacuumed out 200+ gallons of ?stuff?. Next was clearing the sewer pipe. Matt and his team worked with the sewer experts to water jet the line to the city sewer. Needless to say that was an interesting event with the broken pipe in the basement. In relatively quick fashion we had clearance to the city sewer. Water jetting is the way to go. Finally, Matt and his team can get back to work?..first replacing the broken sewer pipe, then to their initial job, installing the drain tile. With all that went wrong Matt and the Crack Attack crew were able to put my bathroom back into service, install the drain tile, mixing concrete out front in the dark and I made it to my concert and didn?t miss a note. A great job completed by a great bunch of guys. I have them back in my home in a heartbeat. Thanks Matt and Tim.

I dreaded having this job done. When I finally pulled the trigger on it- I went to Anige's list and picked a winning company! I highly recommend them . You won't be sorry.
Description of Work: First of all, Matt Torgerson is fabulous. Not only was he on time - he was early. my kind of guy! He came out and went through what he was going to do ( my basement needed to be waterproofed.) He showed up with a team and they got to work and did a professional job. they were careful walking through the house and left a minimum of a mess. The job was a messy one- they were digging and then pouring concrete down in the basement so it couldn't be helped. They put in drain tiles and installed an auxiliary pump. The Team worked non-stop. I couldn't even get them to stop for lunch. They hauled away the debris in their truck. I am sure it was hard for them because of the limited size of my townhouse. They are returning next week to replace dry wall that had to be removed.

Matthew from Crack Attack Team inspected our basement and exterior. He was cordial and friendly. He recommended that they demolish about 20 feet of concrete in the area of the leaking including the front stairs and a portion of the sidewalk. They would then excavate the ground about five feet deep to the foundation footing. They would then wrap a membrane around the 20 foot section of foundation and also install drain tile leading to a 4' x 4' x 6' dry well that would be buried in the front yard. This work would include a lifetime transferable warranty against water seepage in that corner of the house. They would then backfill the area and rebuild the concrete stairs and sidewalk using exposed aggregate concrete that would be consistent with the original look of our Chicago Bungalow. I thought their price was very good compared to others who had bid the job. We do not have the funds to do the job at this point, but would hire this company if we had the means.
Description of Work: We were getting water seepage in a few areas of the basement of our 1931 Chicago Bungalow. We needed a recommendaton on how to repair the foundation where the leaking was occuring. Since we were thinking about replacing the stairs outside where most of the leaking was occuring, we were open for an exterior remedy since our basement was finished.

Matt at Crack Attack came out and gave an estimate on installing a sump pump and drain tile. He understood we were under budget constraints, and gave us an honest assessment on the "what should we do" vs. "things you don't necessarily need." Good candid assessment. He and his crew were timely, came early and worked hard all day to finish the job. His team was courteous, did a good job explaining the situation and came out an additional time to respond to a question we had. The process went very well. We were/are satisfied and would recommend Matt and team. Last, but not least, cost was much less than other providers' estimates.

Overall, I don't normally give out 5-star ratings however I do feel that Tim and the team at Crack Attack Waterproofing went above beyond what was expected for a crawl space encapsulation project for which they also gave me a lifetime warranty.
Description of Work: Originally, I purchased the BigDeal of the Day, Vapor Barrier at $199 which would cover about half of my 1293 sq. ft. crawl space however, after consulting with Matthew who VERY quickly contacted me after I had purchased the Big Deal offer to assess my needs, concerns, and goals, and reasons for my interest in the 6mm Vapor Barrier he offered a more permanant (and expensive) solution to better address my concerns of a very dusty crawl space with random debris scattered the crawl space and possible earth gasses escaping into my home; Encapsulation. Just the the Perma-Seal company does. Before the Proposal was drawn up, Matthew was very thorough about listening and understanding all of my concerns, qualms, and comments that I had about my crawl space and overall foundation of my home. The proposal that we settled on included free insulation of the "sill boxes" or "rim joists" that I bought from a local hardware store and, since my home was built with good natural earth grade it had less than a handful of cracks which Matthew was kind enough to go ahead and add that for free as well as the free removal & haul-away of the random pieces of plumbing pipes and other debris that was hanging-out in my crawl space. On the day of the job, Tim and another employee showed up on time (+/- a few minutes) and quickly got to work without delay. From this point onwards, it became Tim's project. Although I didn't ask, I got the impression that Matthew may have been in the Sales aspect? He was really knowledgabe; more so than most company sales people and he had a genuine way about himself that wasn't "sales" so, I'm not sure. Back to Tim... The crawlspace encapsulation was expected to take approximately a whole day to complete and it was a pretty close estimation, (10am-4pm)... During the course of the day I went to check in with Tim and the progress of my crawlspace a couple of times and each time, he presented himself exactly as Matthew had: respectful, thorough, understanding, and helpful. Upon completion of the job, I was encouraged to inspect the work that was done and to ask any questions that I may have had. Also, the left a partial roll of the sealant tape that was used for the use of any future punctures/issues.

The contractor was pleasant, but only offered one option. I am glad I made other inquiries before agreeing to work.
Description of Work: We had water in the basement. A consultation was made and it was suggested we re tile our basement by taking out the concrete on two walls and floors 18-24" high and wide. Estimate for work: $3-4,000. I made other inquiries and the problem was solved with a new sump pump ($200.00). I feel a solution was offered, but it was an expensive and drastic solution.

Started well with clear explainations detailed pricing and explanation of scope of work. Work with us to get variance to allow an onsite drywell instead of having cost to dig across street to the stormsewer. Professional response to accidental natural gas line rupture. Very good up to that point. After completion never returned to clean final dirt pile in drvie as well as cigarette butts. The city inspector that was supossed to be scheduled for the final inpsection the next day never arrived. It took three phone calls to get the final inspection 3 weeks after the work was completed. We like the work, just their end game was sloppy.
Description of Work: Installed drain tile on inner perimeter if basement filled with lava rock and covered with concrete. Installed sump and pump with backup batteries. Drainage board all around basement.Negotiated with city to put in drywell on property rather than dig across street to storm sewer. Responded professionally when natural gas line was hit.

Crack attack came out within 45min for a free estimate! They had a permit the next day and began workright away. They are them ost professional company but what I was most impressed with was the quality of work. When the village inspector came to inspect, he commented how most companies don't install all the extra water proofing like they had. The inspector told me we were lucky to have found a quality company! Just to top it off, my final bill was a Thousand dollars less when the work was all done! Can you believe that! Best company out there. Highly recommend them!

I contacted Crack Attack after purchasing a new home to get a quote on foundation crack repair and installation of a battery back-up sump pump. I was able to schedule an appointment with Tim to give an estimate within days of my initial call. After providing a quote, I had question on types of pumps used and if other options were available. Tim answered all my questions and followed up on ones that he did not know right away. The day the work was being completed, Tim called me to let me know what time he should arrive and then confirmed the time 30 minutes prior to arrival. The foundation work was straight forward, but the sump-pump had some surprises. When Tim and his team went to verify that the sump pump was working one of the hoses connections to our washing machine burst and he was not getting any flow through our discharge line outside. Turns out the hose had rusted through and our discharge line needed to be rooted. Crack Attack offered to root or discharge line and pick up hose for the washing machine at cost. As a result of the hiccups just trying to test the sump-pump to ensure that it was working property, Crack Attack was at the property an additional 3 hours of solid work and on a Saturday! About 5 months later, after a record rain storm I noticed that there was water coming in to the property from one of the cracks that Crack Attack had repaired. I contacted Tim who promptly responded and offered to send out someone that day or the next at no charge. When his team arrived, they walked me though what the possible causes were and then drilled out the old injection and started new and covered more area as a precaution. They were so informative to me that I started talking to them about their other services and they were able to provide perspective on small and large things I could do to the property to keep water away from the foundation. I was impressed not only with the expertise but with the great customer service.

Terrific....all we expected. Want to stress that I worked with Matt of Crack Attack : 'MATTCRACKATTACKTEAM2@COMCAST.NET' Crack Attack installed dry wells in the yard. They showed up when promised. Contacted the Village and worked well with them to perform the work to the required standards. They were professional, yet down-to-earth and respectful of the homeowner. Their pricing was fair and their clean up was terrific. You would not know the yard was torn up! Would highly recommend Crack Attack and Matt's Team.
