We have used him in the past too. He is very good at what he does in terms of hiring reliable people. He is very reliable himself. His crew was polite, on time and did meticulous work. That was very important,because they were putting up tiles.

It was fine. The quality of the work they did was good, but they were messy. They didn’t try to close off the area and there was dust all over the place from where they did the drywall work. My previous experience with them I did not have any issues to deal with for any messes. They sent 2 people out to do the job.

Dave came on a Sunday and arrived on time. He gave me suggestions on needs to be done and does not need done in my kitchen and around my condo. He was nice and fast in giving me the quote I need.

We had Dave Lupfer come out to our house in Lake Forest to give us a quote on remodeling a standard 5 x 8 guest bathroom. After receiving his quote for ~$11,000 in labor, we saw his coupon on Angie's List which lists a standard renovation at $4,999 with an $1150 allowance for materials. We compared the wording of his quote and the wording of the offer, and noted that they were the exact same language. We emailed Dave back, and asked if the offer pricing would apply if we bought the offer. He inexplicably replied that the offer "only relates to a smaller bathroom than what you have" (though it's pretty easy to measure that our guest bath is 5 feet by 8 feet) and that the offer was "mainly for a cheap, rental apartment bathroom." Labor is labor... so we can only assume that Lupfer does shoddy quality work when you buy the coupon, but invests his time in performing better quality work if you pay full price. Needless to day, we did not hire him.

We were very pleased with them, we have used them before and have been happy. They are very professional, courteous and polite. I would use them if we needed any more remodeling. I have also referred them to a few other people.

He did stop by to give me free estimate. But I need to design enclosed porch and he can't draw the design. I was told that I need to hire a Architect to do it. Later I called Angie's list to ask refund but did not follow it.

Lupfer is extremely responsive and followed up with my regularly. They are highly professional and I would consider them for my next project.

They did very well, an excellent job. They did an excellent job installing my drywall. I would recommend them to others.

Dave and his team were quite punctual and professional. They tell you straight what's needed to do the job right, especially with the surprises one finds in a remodel job. I'd especially like to thank Dave the electrician for his input. For the few things that needed touching up at the end, Dave Lupfer came over and fixed with no hassle.

It went very well. They appreciated that I had made careful drawings of the new lighting plan and some other details. Dave Lupfer is easygoing and attentive, and we think a very nice person. He made suggestions when needed, and stopped before making decisions or assumptions to ask for my direction (e.g. "Do you want a header on this portal, it's not shown on the drawing."). When faced with challenges like fitting lighting into a low ceiling he came up with good solutions. He took pleasure in adding some "design features" on the job, like a recessed shelving alcove and strategically placed electrical outlets to accommodate a wall clock or dart board. We were really impressed with his crew. I have just completed a much larger job on the same home with another group, and from the very first day of demolition with this new crew we were fondly remembering Dave's guys. Not because the work wasn't done well, they both do good work, but the way they did it was different. Dave Lupfer's guys were timely, thorough and very respectful of our home, us and our neighbors. Unlike the more recent crew we hired, Dave's guys took time to clean up daily very well, to keep the exterior trash area tidy, they didn't take smoking breaks or leave butts around, they protected our property inside and out, etc. We really missed that this time around and learned a good lesson; if the work done is all equal, this kind of thing really matters to us. It was much appreciated. Not to mention how hard Dave's guys work. They get a lot done in a short time. I don't actually remember what we paid, but it was not the highest bid, it was middle, and we feel it was worthwhile. I didn't hire Dave for the latest job, which was much larger, but wish I had. Our architects were very involved in the vetting process for this job and they got a little put-off when Dave didn't meet deadline on submitting, and they wondered if he had the home-building experience to handle all the heavy stuff that had to be done for this latest project. And we were trying to build a relationship with the architect and I didn't want to start out the wrong way hiring a contractor they weren't thrilled about. But in the end I may have been better off with Dave. It was just comfortable working with him, and just the opposite with the crew I used this time around. Dave always listened well and made sure we got what we wanted.

Dave figured it was probably last remodeled in the 1950s. Needless to say it took a lot of work. They took the walls down to the studs. We then found out that the outside wall was never insulated. (So that's why it was cold) The workmen were great at understanding the challenges of our early 20th century building. Paul the tiler is a master craftsman. Our neighbor's daughter is in need of a contractor for her new condo, so we gave her Dave Lupfer's info.

I like the guy, and we have a good conversation. Honestly we were going to choose them, but we never heard back with an estimate after emailing and calling! So frustrating!

Very easy to make appointments. Showed up within their given time frame. Walked us through their Master Bathroom design plans and estimate.

They took much longer than I anticipated and then I had to pay for additional hours. It took about 2 and half days to do the work with a crew of 2 people. He did not accomplish what I needed in that time. He did quality work but some things were not done as they should have been. I did feel the price was reasonable, though.

The experience started off a little rough but Dave Lupfer really cares about his business and the work he does. Lupfer and I had a miscommunication on the first estimate to build the entire closet and prep it for paint. I ultimately had somebody else build the closet and Lupfer felt bad about my disappointment with Lupfer Builders so he wanted to make it up to me. Since the closet was already built Lupfer and I agreed on a price for him to come by and put the drywall up with 3 coats of plaster. I agreed that I would do the final sanding as to save money and time for Lupfer to come back out and just do some sanding. Lupfer and his guys showed up on time, I was actually about 7 minutes late, and they worked quick and got the job done in a couple hours. Even though it was a small job Dave and his guys did a good job and really changed my opinion of the company. It is nice to see some people out there still care about the work they do and the company they have built.

After having met with several contractors for a job in ~2004, we were recommended to speak with Lupfer Builders. and have not gone with another contractor since. Over the last 10 years we have always found them extremely responsive and professional. They provide a solid work guarantee and we have had no issues getting changes made to meet our needs. Importantly, Dave Lupfer is very aware of budgets and getting projects completed on budget - on time. It takes a lot of the stress out of these types of projects. Highly recommended.

Dave and his designer came to our home the end of March to discuss a Master Bath remodel. It is a very small bathroom next to a small dressing area with a small L-shaped closets. We wanted to better utilize the space and stay within a budget. He took measurements and discussed our ideas. We wanted to utilize the dressing area to enlarge the bathroom and closet space. He emailed us a preliminary design. We exchanged many emails during April. He changed the design to fit our ideas and budget. The 3D design of the larger bathroom and walk-in closet was very helpful. He provided a final design with an itemized list of changes so we could pick and choose what we wanted. He discussed the remodel process and time frame for changes. After investigating the cost of materials, the project was a bit more than we expected. At the end of April, we contacted Dave to tell him we decided to put the project on hold for one year.

I bought the angie's list big deal coupon for this contractor. When I called to schedule the appointment, he picked up the phone right away (no leaving voicemail) and we were able to schedule the appointment for 2 days later. On the day of service, he arrived sharp at 8.00am with 2 helpers. They started working right away after initial assessment of the work to be performed. We had bought new doors from Menards door sale and had them stocked in our garage. Lupfer and his men, took out old doors, installed new ones and one closet door as well in just over 8 hours. We were satisfied with the work they have performed. We hired him again for the next weekend for changing 5 old fan with new ones and installing a new microwave in the kitchen after creating duct work for vent out. We highly recommend this contractor.

They were prompt and came out when they said they would. The designer sent me one set of plans and Lupfer sent me a quote but I had changes I wanted made to the drawings and those have still not been sent over, almost a year after they first came out. I'm not in a hurry because we don't have plans to start this remodel yet but when we are I will expect my contractor to deliver prompt drawings/plans and estimate all at once. The builder may be fine at what they do but my main goal was to get a new kitchen layout that I'm happy with and that has not been delivered.

He arrived and gave me ideas that were much more cost effective, Wow< he was really helping.

This fellow gave me an estimate without knowing a lot of details, everything I seemed to ask him about was going to be an extra cost. There wasn't a lot of detail on it and he wasn't serving up the ideas I was.

We decided not to go with them. They gave us a very thorough estimate. They certainly arrived on time and were pleasant to interact with. The price was a little high.

, We have an enclosed portico on our 1926 - built home. It appeared to have major foundation problems perhaps needed substantial repair or even replacement. Dave looked at the situation, identified the type of foundation construction that was involved and concluded that it was stable. He showed us how to prevent further damage to the foundation, properly vent the enclosed portico, and recommended that we "let well enough alone." We greatly appreciated his expertise and honest assessment. We'll definitely contact him for the next project at our home.

Everything went as planned. Workers on time and very pleasant to work with. Owner followed thru with his staff throughout the project, which I found very reassuring.
