American Insulation

Everything went just as they promised, and they even asked me to climb up the ladder in the garage to see their work. All the insulation was injected through the attic opening in the garage ceiling.

Work not recommended. Alternative offered.

Our 15 yr. old home was insulated poorly and was very drafty in our first winter there. Their estimator was very helpful in identifying problems that could be fixed cost effectively vs. those that would be too expensive or not give bang for the buck. Installation crew was very fast and professional. The cost seemed reasonable for the amount of work. And it really made a difference! The house seems warmer in winter. And our utility bills improved by 15-20%.

A rep. from American Insulation was on time and knowledgeable about the project. He followed up with an estimate in a timely manner.

Great. I had to work within another contractor's schedule, and American insulation worked with me to make it work. I called them months in advance to set up the appointment, and when I called the week before to check to make sure they were still coming, they were. They were on time, very friendly and professional, and honest (part of the house was already insulated, so they took that portion off of the bill). They were great to work with and my house is noticeably warmer and quieter!

The workers were pleasant and helpful. They arrive within the promised time frame, covered everything well with their blankets. There was a surprise on their first visit in the form of two squirrels in the attic. They left and returned once we had dealt with the situation, fitting us into their busy fall schedule. They did efficient and careful work. They protected the floored part of our main attic from spillover by making batt walls. They even connected a heating duct to the register over the master bedroom not connected before! They cleaned up well. We could not be more pleased, and we recommend them strongly. Since they completed their work, the house is so much warmer that we have been able to reduce the thermostat setting by a degree in the daytime and two degrees at night.

Owen was right on time and provided a very thorough evaluation and recommendations. I was expecting to wait a week for the work to be done, but he had a crew open the next day and they arrived exactly when promised. The work was completed in about an hour and a half and there was not a spot of insulation anywhere in the house but in the attic. I highly recommend American Insulation.

The one thing I liked best was their punctuality. The appointment was set for 12 and they were here early and ready to go. When the salesman first came and quoted the price he told us would take about an hour and 10 minutes and it actually took an hour and 15 minutes. The workmanship was great. Everything they said they were going to do they did. The insulation was exactly what they said they were going to put in. When they finished he gave me a nice report saying the substructure looked good and there were no problems. They cleaned up afterwards, you couldn't even tell they were here.

Very positive. They spent time looking at our house for things to improve insulation, even though it was stuff they would not do.

Everyone I worked with from American Insulation was very helpful and professional - the salesman, appointment scheduler, installers, and the billing person. Salesman recommended insulating the garage ceiling, which is under the bedrooms - great idea. Installers were quick and left little or no mess. The whole house is now much more comfortable and temperature is consistent. A lot of outside noises previously heard are now gone. I priced this as a do-it-yourself job with insulation rolls and it would have been over $900 just for materials, not including the garage ceiling. I paid $1135 and they were done in about 90 minutes or so. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

The did a very good job. The were on time (little early) and completed the job quickly. I asked questions about concerns other than the job they were doing for us and they were helpful with solutions. Their company does the work that I was asking questions about and they made a point of saying that even though they do the work that would be needed, that I should wait and see how things went this summer before I pay to have an attic fan put in.

Michael Cavanagh was on time for the estimate and was very patient with my questions (and gave helpful answers). No sales pressure. I got three estimates - two were within $15 and the third was out of the ballpark (on the high side). I went with American Insulation because a) it's a family business; b) there was no sales pressure; c) Michael gave me good information; d) price was close to one other bid. The workmen showed up on time and cleaned up afterwards.

I called 3 companies. This one was in the middle on quoted price. However, their representative went through my whole attic--which meant crawling through 2/3 of the area. Other companies just ''took a peek and did not go in at all. Mr. Porter explained everything very well. They would do what they could over the living room where the clearance is only 6 in. The 2nd company just said the living room area was impossible. American Insulation did the job they promised, were timely, efficient and left no mess.

They were prompt and courteous. Very careful about keeping the route through the house clean. Answered all my questions, even about insulation in the walls. Great guys. I highly recommend them.

These guys are rockstars. Owner Mike arrived promptly and inspected the space. He gave us an estimate on the spot. Rick and Dave arrived at the exact time they said. They wrapped all the ducts, blew insulation into a few spaces they could get too (that wasn't in the estimate), and covered the entire attic space - leaving a walkway to the furnace. They worked very quickly, were extremely polite and informative. I would use them again in a second. We're already feeling the advantages of their work - our house is warmer and the furnace doesn't come on as often. Mike said it was too late in the season to take off exterior siding and pump insulation into the walls of the house - but we'll have him do that in the Spring. This will cost $1800.

Non responsiveness after three phone calls have been placed.

Initially, the woman I spoke with on the phone said that they were very busy, and it would be a couple of weeks before anyone could come out, but that they might be able to do a quote over the phone. I made an appointment, and they also called me back to give me a phone quote. However, they still wanted to come out, and see the job before giving a more firm quote. The person who came out for the estimate was right on time, and very professional. He advised against doing blow-in insulation as he said that it could potentially make my particular problem worse. He told me to just get a couple of sheets of insulation, and do the job myself. I appreciated that he was honest, and said that I could do the job rather than selling me their business.

We also got a quote from another company (also on Angie's List) for $780 to insulate the whole attic, but only up to R-19. Plus, the salesperson was rude and did not even want to go up in the attic to check it out. For $70 more, we got twice the amount of insulation from American Insulation. The whole experience was positive, from start to finish. Mike Cavanagh came out to give us the estimate (they would have blown in insulation up to R-38 for $675 but we want to be able to move it if needed to do electrical work later). He was very professional and gave us several suggestions for further insulating we could do in the future (without sales pressure). We will definitely hire them again when we redo our siding and blow insulation in under it.

When I called, the phone was answered by an actual human, and an appointment for one of the owners to come out and assess the job was scheduled. He was very professional, helpful, and made some good suggestions on how to improve our insulation situation in both areas. The insulation day arrived and we got a call from the installer saying that their truck sustained a flat tire the first thing in the morning, which messed up the whole day. But, they would be at our house that day, just later than scheduled. He called again from the job prior to ours to let us now he would be at our place in 20 minutes. When he arrived with a helper, they were quick, professional, and allowed me to inspect the job when they had finished. I was impressed with this company from start to finish. Honest, knowledgeable, professional, and were very careful of our property and cleaned up after themselves. I highly recommend them!

OWEN PORTER (SALES REP AND PART OWNER) WAS PROMPT FOR THE ESTIMATE APPOINTMENT. WHAT IMPRESSED ME ABOUT OWEN WAS THAT NOT ONLY WAS HE VERY , BUT HE DID A COMPLETE WALKTHROUGH OF THE ATTIC, NOTING WHERE SOFFITS WERE EXPOSED, ETC. THE SALES REP FOR THE OTHER COMPANY WHICH PROVIDED ME AN ESTIMATE ONLY STUCK HIS HEAD THROUGH THE ATTIC OPENING. THE WORK WAS DONE BY OWEN AND ANOTHER EMPLOYEE IN ABOUT TWO HOURS. AND I SAVED $50.00 USING THE ANGIE'S LIST COUPON!

KARLA IS WONDERFUL TO WORK WITH AS FAR AS SCHEDULING GOES; THE GUYS COME IN, DO THEIR JOB, AND LEAVE THE PLACE CLEAN AS IF THEY WERE NOT EVEN THERE. IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWING THE WORK, A SIGNIFICANT DIFFERENCE WAS NOTICED IN THE TEMPERATURES OF THE UPPER FLOOR. THIS IS MY SECOND HOME TO USE AMERICAN INSULATION TO DO THIS WORK.

SCHEDULING WAS PROMPT AND THE SERVICE PERSONNEL WERE CLEAN UPON COMPLETION. SCHEDULING WAS ABOUT A MONTH OUT FROM THE DATE OF THE QUOTE AND ON THE DAY OF THE INSTALLATION THE WORKERS WERE A BIT LATE, BUT THAT WAS TO BE EXPECTED GIVEN THAT THIS IS THEIR VERY BUSY SEASON. HIGHLY PROFESSIONAL. I WOULD RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY, AND THE $50 ''ANGIES LIST'' COUPON WAS APPRECIATED. THANKS!
