They do a good job. We pay a monthly fee for their service. We have used them for a long time. It is easy if we do have some kind of problem, we just call them and they come out to fix it. It is a security to know if something breaks, they will come fix it for you. It is hard sometimes to get on the schedule. You have to call them early. I don't like the fact that they are so busy. If I call them with a problem, they will come out. Scheduling preventative maintenance does take awhile. They are very conscientious about the work they do.
Description of Work: They came out for furnace maintenance.

Description of Work: Every thing was fine and they fix two air conditioners and seemed friendly and trustworthy until the apprentice knocked into my cart i had 3 5 gallon tanks treating sick fish so they were isolated and the air tube got yanked on, causing the filter to spray water out of the tank. I was downstairs everything was fine I went upstairs came back down five minutes later and the water from the tank of one of the quarantine fish was spraying directly onto a $89 monster surge protector and it was sparking and smoking. They both denied meaning the contractor and The Apprentice touching the metal cart Bella's on wheels that were locked when approached about it. We all went downstairs and a long metal heavy part for the furnace was still leaning against the cart. The contractor said that if he thought that he was responsible he would replace the surge protector. This also could have killed off a $200 fish that was in that particular tank had I not come down and stop the water from spraying out completely from the filter. I also did get shocked when I investigated the surge protector and to unplug it. It didn't hurt but it was alarming but all the fish could have died and that isn't even the point I'm trying to make. That point is that even though their equipment was still leaning up against the tank stand or metal cart, they obviously lied and it was over something so trivial that I would never do business with this company and do not trust them. If they're going to lie over a surge protector or some water spilling what else would they lie about when if you have two air conditioners and need to be replaced that's a big Bill. Who knows unless you're trained is more work is being done then what is needed it's like I'm going to Hannah Cline about getting some grease from his hands on me the seat of your car. Are you going to trust that the estimate and work that they do is what is needed or is this unnecessary and is the cost where it should be... I wouldn't trust anybody that would lie at all with something that costs thousands of dollars of service work and materials.

Heat exchanger went bad. 10 years old under lifetime limited warrantee. The trade winds supervisor told me it would $999 to replace it. I asked why. His response was shipping and stuff. I had removed the inside already. I live about 2 miles from trade winds in Lombard and Berkheimers, the wholesaler is across the street. Shipping and stuff. I wanted to replace the igniter on the furnace as well, he told me it would be $221. I googled the cost. $16.00 and $3.95 shipping. Two screws to remove the igniter and reinstall. So, for $1200, I decided to replace the furnace. Trade Winds sent a Carried salesman out. I am looking at an 80,000 btu 95% efficient furnace. He started out at $3800, subtracted $700, told I would get $200 back as an energy credit. I asked him why he took $700 off. His response, I don't know, it must be a rebate or something. He didn't tell me about the $300 rebate from Nicor for the furnace. The tax credit is only $150. I have a very nice house that reasonably large, people walk up and say to themselves....there is money to be made here. My friend and I replaced the furnace ourselves. Total out pocket cost to me....$1600 for 80,000 btu 95% efficient furnace. I got beyond not recommending Trade Winds, I actually tell my friends what type of company they. They take advantage of people. Just a bad company.
Description of Work: Totally greedy estimate on heat exchange under warrantee . I did not use Trade winds or Carrier companies.
