Description of Work: Sent them an email asking if they can help us with a house addition project. Never heard back from them. The least them can do is respond and say they current don't do these types of projects.

Description of Work: (9/25/10) Leader Builders began working on the back porch yesterday. A large crew arrived at 8am and worked until 7pm. Today they arrived at the same time and are just packing up to go now. In that time they removed three layers of roofing, replaced rotted wood beneath the roof, hauled the debris each night to the waiting dumpster, swept and blew dust off of the porches and the sidewalk. They even blew the dust off of my neighbor's porch. The foreman just knocked on the door to tell me he was leaving and that they would see me on Monday at 8am. They will also be rebuilding part of the fire wall where the bricks are just too decayed to stay. (9/30/2010) To sum it up these guys were intelligent, thorough and clean. They even vacuumed the steps when the job was finished. They also put in a new sidewalk from my front step to the common walk, had to replace some of the wood after removing the three old roofs and rebuilt part of the fire wall. The white coating for heat reflection will be put on when the surface of the roof has thoroughly dried.

+ -1 moreLEADER WAS INCREDIBLY RESPONSIVE AND A PLEASURE TO WORK WITH. EDUARD, THE PROJECT MANAGER, ALWAYS RETURNED CALLS ALMOST IMMEDIATELY. HE ALSO HAD GOOD IDEAS THAT THE ARCHITECT DID NOT THINK OF. ALL SUBS, INCLUDING THE CARPENTER, WERE TERRIFIC AND ON SCHEDULE. THEY ALSO HAVE AN EXTREMELY WELL RUN OFFICE WITH SCHEDULING BOARD AND RESPONSIVE STAFF. I CALLED SOME OF THEIR REFERENCES BEFORE GIVING THEM THE JOB. THE REPORTS WERE GLOWING AS WELL. THEIR PRICING WAS COMPETITIVE (NOT THE MOST EXPENSIVE OF THE BIDS, BUT NOT THE CHEAPEST). AS WITH MOST BIG JOBS, THERE WERE SOME EXPENSES THAT WE DID NOT ANTICIPATE, BUT THEY DID NOT NICKEL AND DIME US. WE HAD NO PROBLEMS WITH OUR ALLOWANCES. I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND THEM TO ANYONE.
Description of Work: WE HIRED THEM TO CONVERT AN UNFINISHED ATTIC INTO A FULL SECOND FLOOR (THREE BEDROOMS AND A BATH). WORK INCLUDED NEW HVAC, ELECTRICAL, AND PLUMBING. THEY ALSO ADDED TWO DORMERS AND A NEW STAIRCASE.

PLUMBING WAS NOT DONE TO CODE, CITY OF CHICAGO FORCED THEM TO RETURN AND REDO. HIRED UNLICENSED SUBCONTRACTORS DIFFERENT THAN STATED ON PERMIT. REFUSED TO COMPLETE JOB UNTIL WE PAID THEM IN FRONT... WE FINALLY FIRED THEM AS SOON AS OUR HOUSE WAS LIVABLE... FILED A COMPLAINT WITH CHICAGO DEPARTMENT OF CONSUMER SEVICES. ONCE CONTRACT WAS SIGNED THEY REFUSED TO HONOR ALLOWANCES STATED IN CONTRACT, PLUMBING WAS NOT CODE AND NOT FUNCTIONING, DID NOT INSTALL DAMPER IN STONE FIREPLACE, ELECTRICAL SHORT SHUTS DOWN THE UPSTAIRS WHEN LIGHT IS FLIPPED ON, AND MUCH, MUCH MORE.. Leader Builders was very dishonest. Pete took every opportunity to try and cheat us. Finally filed a complaint with the city of Chicago Dept. of Consumer Services. Leader Builders was found liable on 11 counts on fraud. They were fined thousands of dollars and reprimanded by a judge.
