I would recommend Coast to Coast to anyone who asked. I needed a new chimney as my house is 70+ years old. I called for a quote and spoke with Romen. We set up a time and his partner Stan showed up as planned and I had a quote the next day. Since I was also getting my roof replaced, Romen worked with me to ensure that there was no redundant work completed and money wasted on something that the roofers would pull up when they completed their work. Because of our unpredictable weather, Romen decided that he would schedule the new work to be completed on a Saturday, just to ensure that he had time to re-schedule to the following week before the roofers were scheduled. Saturday morning arrives and the truck arrives on time. The work is complete by the afternoon and everything is cleaned up, including the footprints made on the driveway. The concrete forms for the chimney top were removed by the next Wednesday afternoon as they promised. The workmanship is exceptional. The team was professional, friendly and got the job done without issue. They left the basement cleaner than how they found it. If I ever need another chimney or mason work done, Coast to Coast will be the first call I make.
Description of Work: Replaced brick chimney from the roof line up, installed a stainless steel liner and connected to furnace and hot water heater.

The were always on time, very clean and professional. I was very satisfied with the work. I was was very happy with the tuck pointing they did on the house. I would recommend them to anyone.
Description of Work: They tuck pointed the whole house and put a new cap on top of the chimney. They also put a rain guard on top of the chimney.
Stanley from Coast to Coast came to my home at the agreed upon time and provided me with a general idea of what work would need to be done. He followed that up with a detailed written estimate that was emailed to me a couple of days later. The work crew showed up on time and started immediately. They blended in the new work on the brick joints nicely with the rest of the house. Our home is over 80 years old and the look of the work was very important to us. I thought the cleanup was pretty good and overall they left the yard in very good shape. They took care to be mindful of the landscaping surronding our house.
Description of Work: chimney had the joints ground and then pointed with fresh mortar. the existing concrete cap was removed and a brand new one was poured on site. new metal covers were put on the 2 flues.

I was amazed when the crew showed up on the scheduled day, completed all work to my satisfaction, cleaned up the area, and did an overall great job. I shouldn't be supprised when someone does the job they contract to do but it is becoming a rare event. I would recommend Romen and Coast to Coast for anyone needing masonary repair.

Romen Zajac responded to my request for an estimate within one day of my call. Romen was very pleasant and knowlegeable and took a thorough walk around my entire house identifying additional areas of concern like the window sills that I had not noticed needed attention. Romen provided some options in handling the work and took precise measurements before he left. I received a very detailed estimate by email within 2 days and a copy in the mail a day or two later. I really liked getting a couple of options for the flower box repairs which was the most involved repair. I received another estimate from a competitor and basically received a one page, two line quote. Coast-to Coast provided 4 pages describing exactly what they were going to to do and the costs for each item along with a copy of their certificate of liability insurance. I was very pleased with the estimate. Work started a week later. (the other company estimated 6-8 weeks out). The work took around two days and the workers were really nice and very neat, using dustless grinding equipment and vacuums. I couldn't be more happy with the results. House looks like new! Interestingly, Romen came back without being asked to look over the work. He found a few areas that needed to be matched a little better (looked fine to me) and the crew was back the next day for a little touch up. The entire process was flawless from start to finish and the price was extremely competitive. Communications were excellent through both email and the telephone. I would highly recommend Coast to Coast Masonry.
Description of Work: General tuck pointing on my house. Work included spot work on the house and front wing wall and comprehensive tuck pointing on the front flower box/wing wall and all the walls around a lower level patio in the rear of the house.

Romen met with me within a day after I called, and provided me with a very detailed quote with costs for each job, and explained every aspect of all three jobs. I had 2 meetings with other contractors (one higher and one lower quote), but only Romen explained the difference between new brick work and restoration work. He spent much more time going over the details with me and really observing what he would need to do than any other contractor. He noticed water on the basement floor under the cement porch floor and found a small crack causing the problem, which he had his crew fix. No other contractor noticed it. Our house is 90 years old, and we were concerned that the large front porch and chimney would look new. But the crew dismantled the porch and usable bricks were cleaned and re-used, as was the chimney. The porch had two layers of brick--inside and out--and dismantling and reconstructing was a very big job. The Coast to Coast team were very professional, and careful not to hurt shrubs and plants in the area of the porch. One of the men even dug up hostas in the area and transplanted them so that we could use them again later! All the work took 6-1/2 days, and they worked on Saturday. The greatest compliment we can pay Romen and his crew is that it's difficult to tell that any work was done because they did such a fabulous job restoring our old house. We're absolutely thrilled with the job Coast to Coast did--thank you!

I initially spoke to Romen about the project and he came out the next day to give me an estimate for the project. After I received the estimate he came back out and we discussed the entire scope of the office renovation. He was very thorough with his quote and even brought out his foreman to discuss any questions I may have. I awarded them the contract and they started work immediately. All the work was done safely and professionally. He was able to complete the job in my time frame and did not charge many any change orders. I was very happy working with Coast to Coast and would definitely hire them on future jobs.

Before remodeling our basement, we needed to make sure that the foundation was in good shape before we put up new insulation and drywall. Coast to Coast was able to come on short notice and did an excellent job. They were on time and professional. When we needed an additional area done, the mason went the "extra mile" and created a brick-like surface to match the section where the brick was going to remain exposed.

The work was done well and even though it was spot tuckpointing, there was no obvious color difference between the original masonry and the new tuckpointed work.I have also used Coast to Coast for another project about a year ago - chimney repair and waterproofing. I was impressed with their work at the time and it has held up very well over the past year.I would highly recommend them- I had multiple people quote the chimney work last year and they were the most promt, most reasonable and had the best overall solution to my issue.

The job was quite small and I had difficulty even getting people out to look at it because it was such a small job. Romen came out in September 2011, even after I told him that the job was very small. He was on time for the day of our estimate and was very pleasant. I was eventually able to secure two other bids. Coast to Coast was in the middle in terms of cost, but given how Romen treated me as though I was doing a $10,000 job, I opted for Coast to Coast. Because Coast to Coast Masonry was pretty busy, Romen couldn't schedule me until a Wednesday in November. I was fine with that, because I just wanted to make sure it was patched in time for the winter. The Monday before my repair, Romen called me to reschedule for that Friday instead because a job they were working on was going to take longer than expected. Now how is that for customer service? Tell me how often a contractor is that proactive and I'll tell you how many times I had seen a leprechaun in my lifetime until that day: zero. With that lead time, I had no problem rescheduling my work-from-home day. The day of the fix the person (did not get the gentleman's name) showed up on time. He was there for a few hours and did a beautiful job. He was able to match the mortar to my existing mortar. You can't even tell that there was a repair in that area. I opted to wait through the winter before reporting, as I wanted to make sure that the mortar held up during winter's vicious freeze/thaw cycles. The work is quality and the customer service is absolutely outstanding. These people know what customer service and quality service is all about.
Description of Work: Over the summer during a storm lighting struck a tree in my yard. The tree ripped my main electrical service line right out of my home's wall, along with a chunk of bricks. Coast to Coast Masonry replaced bricks and repaired an area of approximately 15 sq feet.
I must start with how professional Romen and his team were from begining to end. Great care was taken to make all tarps, ladders, scaffolding, bricks, & debris confined & neatly kept. I was very pleased & excited with the new chimney, thanks to Romen who suggested the color of brick to use and the skill with which it was built. Romen, also, found that one of the doors which he was to replace in the base-ment, could be fixed by putting an angled pipe connected to another pipe would work better which would elminate the use of this door. This is the door which was problematic with allowing water to flow into my basement during a rain storm. He closed the opening with brick and concrete. Another problem solved!! Then he and his team found that leakage was coming from below the foundation of the chimney, which required them to dig below the chimney and correct that problem. This was not part of the estimate, but was fixed at no extra cost! Another problem solved! I was thrilled with Coast to Coast Masonry - I would diffiently hire them for any masonry work I needed done. I thank Romen and his team.
Description of Work: Remove & rebuild from top down to roof line. Also, to rebuild chimney below roof down to the grade level. Replace all flue liners. This work was done with all new brick which matched the house. A new costume concrete cap. Grind 100% & tuck-point 100% down to the grade. A new joint will be tooled in place to a hard smooth concave surface, & will be almost impervious to water. Remove & replace 2 clean up doors in basement. Rake existing cracked mortar joints at the fireplace box & tuck-point as necessary.

I was impressed with Romen and with Coast to Coast Masonry from the very beginning. Romen was professional on the phone, arrived for the estimate exactly on time, was timely and precise about arranging for the actual repair, and the repair was done very well. I had a slow leak from the joints between the top of my window and the stucco. Ice would get into the joint, melt and then seep into the ceiling of the 3rd floor bedroom. I received several estimates, but Romen impressed me most with the precision of his analysis of the problem, and his description of his solution. Other contractors said things to me like "yeah, we'll seal it up for ya", and left it at that. Romen was also an excellent communicator via email and cell phone. Romen's two guys who did the repair were very professional and very thorough. I also got the added bonus of waterproofing the scupper and the brick around it, since they were up there. They had to set up ladders and scaffolding in part of my garden, and they were very careful not to step on plants and harm the garden. They were quick and efficient - I didn't have to take the whole day off from work, and was in the office by lunch. I would recommend Coast to Coast Masonry to everyone, and would use them again without hesitation.
Description of Work: Erect scaffolding to make the repair at third floor at the front of the building. Remove existing caulking from the brick to stucco joint. Install new foam backer rod into joint. Apply new urethane caulking (Sonneborn NP1). Fabricate and install pre-finished aluminum (color matching stucco) over the header over the window. Caulk around the window at the stucco-to-window frame joint and at the window-to-sill joint. Waterproof brick wall around downspout scupper.

Coast to Coast was professional throughout this process. The bid they provided was the most complete and professional of the 6 companies who gave us an estimate. They're incredibly responsive to phone calls and e-mails, and it's very clear that they care about the quality of their work and about keeping their customers happy and informed of the progress of the work being done. The workers were always on time, and they always cleaned up behind themselves. This was a huge project, and it took about 3 weeks to complete. I would highly recommend Coast to Coast.

Thank you for the comment, we do want to apologize that we arrived a little late it was a miscommunication between our office and super attendant. That day we appeared at a different job site to your scheduled time, and did not realize till way later that we were misinformed. Once again sorry.
Everything was an A overall except for the weather. Too bad they couldn't control that too! Roman arrived at the scheduled time, looked over the chimney, took pictures, and took a piece of brick to match. He was friendly and professional. He gave me an estimate verbally. I received two other estimates from other masonry companies. His was in the middle. He sent me a formal written proposal in the mail the next week and the same proposal via email. Signed the proposal, mailed it off and scheduled the work to be done. The mason came as scheduled, set up scaffolding, being mindful of the landscaping, and positioned boards off the scaffolding so he wouldn't have to walk on the roof. I inspected the work in the evening each day and saw how extensive the damage was. They replaced quite a few whole bricks. The mason thoroughly cleaned up the area around the scaffolding and on the roof. There was no splattered mortar or chunks of debris anywhere. Some key points about this job were how well the new bricks and mortar color matched the old. The house was built in 1959. You would be hard pressed to pick out the replaced bricks. Also, all the mortar joints were the same. There weren't some thin or thick and there weren't any odd size chunks of brick stuck anywhere. Roman and the mason were very professional. Besides the workmanship, I was impressed by the fact that Roman made a follow-up call to see if I was satisfied after the work was completed. Too many businesses seem to be afraid to do that.

A large tree fell into the front of our home as a result of a bad windstorm that swept through the region. The resulting damage left a 12" hole through two layers of brick between our attic and bedroom windows. Romen arrived promptly at the agreed upon time and did a thorough walk through of the above repair and other items that may need to be addressed around the rest of the all brick house. After receiveing quotes from 2 other companies I decided on Coast to Coast to handle the tree damage repair and to brick in an old icebox pass through. The scheduling was easy and work performed in a reasonable time. The mason perfomed the work diligently on a Saturday and went above and beyond. He cut away fascia boards that were hanging and filled in small cracks in our porch with the extra mortar. I will be using Coast to Coast again in the spring to perform other masonry repairs. Wish all contractors were as professional as Coast to Coast.

Received several estimates. Romen was the only one to show me the problem. There was a gap between the foundation and wall where water and condensation had gathered over the years, causing the problem. He explained that just tuck pointing was a quick fix and showed me where the studs at the base were beginning to rot. He explained a detailed solution. Leveling the concrete foundation, replacing the rotten 2x4, Taking several of the extra bricks and filling in a circular hole left form a old removed space heater. He also caulked my stoops, around my dryer vent, and meters. And repaired small cracks in the corners of my foundation. Sent me a proposal by email and the U. S. Mail. Advised me by phone of the time frames. Walked around the repairs to make sure I was satisfied. Old world service and craftsmanship!

Prompt call back. They came out a few days later. They were busy but said they could do it in a few weeks. That was fine because we weren't in a big hurry, just wanted it done before winter. The brick looks great too, they even replaced one of the bricks that was cracked by the builder (matched perfectly). Overall great job.

Romen and his crew are terrific. The did great work at a great price. When we moved in, we got quotes from a few Angie's List members, including Coast to Coast. Romen's quote was the most professional we received, and we had it within a day of his visit. His quote was also $2,000 less than a competitor's quote. The competitor had written up a quote for more work than was needed. Romen respected our budget and suggested we simply recaulk flashing for now, rather than replacing it all (which would involve quite a bit more work and would have cost us about $700 more). He suggested we wait to replace flashing when we re-do the roof, at which time the flashing has to come up anyway. His quote outlined exactly the work Coast to Coast would perform, and it included details like "we will use tarps to keep work space clean and we will clean up daily". He detailed the specifics of what materials would be used and what process would be followed. Coast to Coast was out almost immediately to start work on the chimneys. It was mid-summer when they came, and he and his crew worked on back-to-back 100 degree days on the roof, and in the attic in the case of the attic fan they installed for us. They were courteous from start to finish, and worked quickly and dilligently. They picked bricks that matched the existing brickwork on the chimney so it appears seamless. They inspected the structure of our chimneys all the way down into the attic, and looked at the insides with a camera. They helped us save more money, too, by letting us know the flues did not need the attention of a chimney sweep because they were clean already. They went out of their way to help us, especially with the attic fan install, which is not something we would have thought a masonry firm might do. They did a great job installing it. After doing all their, they cleaned up the space well. Then a few days later they came back out to see how the concrete was curing. Romen also offered to help install whatever fireplace we bought as part of our contract for the fireplace job. At his own initiative he called twice to see if we had purchased one so he could help put it in. After telling him we had to pass on buying a fireplace because we had spent all of our home improvement money, he offered to come help and put in damper at the top of that chimney to help keep out the elements until we decided what sort of fireplace to put there. He came out and did that work without charge. Really a great service experience has come out of a project that seemed somewhat mundane. Thanks, Romen!
Description of Work: Coast to Coast removed two old, poorly designed and leaking chimney caps on two fireplaces at the house we just purchased. In the case of one of our chimneys, they pulled out the old cap and poured new cap including a rubber membrane and a rain drip to help protect the integrity of the roof and prevent water damage. On the other chimney, they did the same and also built the chimney up an additional 18 inches to improve function and comply with code. They handled all the brickwork on the improved chimneys, and recaulked flashing on both. They also helped remove one of the old fireplace inserts that we did not like. They also removed old, broken attic fan and installed a new one in the roof and re-attached shingles in the area where the fan was placed. They also inspected both chimney liners using a camera system.

The big problem was how to get inbetween the two buildings where water was starting to permeat the brick at the foundation. Romen gave me a menu price, due to my concerns and limits with spending. It arrived quickly by email and followed by hard copy. I initiated a portion of the work, and they proceeded.Even with bringing in a very small tuckpointer to get between the buildings, they were only able to get back 18' from the front. Romen and his team then arranged to install flashing and gutters the whole length of the building to prevent water from going in between the buildings, with no charge for the tuckpointing on the east wall they did complete, and for the same price as what that would have cost. They indicated they will continue to think about how to get the rest of the brick/tuckpointing repaired in the meantime, but were confident this would prevent any more water infiltration for the time being. They were efficient, quiet and always on time. The work in total took three visits and the other brick/tuckpointing work is completed and looks fine. I just recommended him to another project for one of our clients. Note that Coast to Coast was the fourth contractor from here on Angie's List to bid the work, and the only one who provided a complete quote and attempted to do the difficult work between the buildings. Two of the other three did not even provide numbers, when they said they would and disappeared, the third was the other highest rated for my area on here, and called to say that they could do the other accessible work, gave me an outline of what should happen to the work between the buildings, but passed on that portion of the work as they felt they could not address it themselves. I was more than pleased that Romen stepped up to the plate, made no unrealistic promises, yet did what they could to resolve it. I am sure if Coast to Coast comes across a very tiny tuckpoint person, I will be getting a call and would welcome his team back to finish the east wall tuckpointing.
Description of Work: Romen came as scheduled and assessed the various brick and tuckpointing conditions of concern, at the side faces of my building, including at the front parapet, side edges from ground to third floor, and the east wall between my building and my neighbor's, approximately 11" space, 54' deep. Due to the intensified weather, grout was prematurely eroding and cracks were appearing from building movement up the side of the facade.
