He was responsive, showed up on time and did quality work and the price was reasonable.

Summary of our experience: Although their salesman was prompt and showed up when scheduled to provide an estimate, I've yet to receive a price. He was at my house the third week of April. At that time, he indicated that he'd have a bid by the following Monday. Two weeks later I still hadn't received anything. I texted the salesman and he claimed to have emailed a bid, suggesting perhaps the email was in my spam folder. I checked both email addresses and notified him that I didn't receive a bid. I provided my email address again and he said he would re-send. That never happened. Four weeks ago, I notified him again that I didn't receive his second email - again he said he'd look into it. Never heard from him. In my final attempt this week, I asked for a bid on a different size of skylights - he still hasn't responded. I give up on these guys.

I have not had any work done yet, but it has been miserably slow waiting for a response from this company.. I finally got the quote. You have to stay on them, but perhaps they are very busy.

My primary issue with Houseworks is the lack of responsiveness to homeowners with small to mid-sized jobs. During the sales pitch, they went to great lengths to describe their expertise and commitment to customer service. Once I signed the contract, they failed to coordinate with my roofer and were, thereafter, unable to install the skylights due to a combination of poor weather and an overloaded schedule. For weeks, I had insulation stapled onto a piece of plywood instead of skylights. When I called to inquire about my skylights, Houseworks reps spent a lot of time telling me about the large commercial jobs that took priority over my job. When they eventually did appear to install the skylights, they didn't finish the installation; instead, they waited another ten days due to a larger project involving a north side hospital. I don't doubt their skill, I simply question their commitment to non-commercial clients. Provider Response In their Response, Houseworks claims that the "facts and accusations are simply wrong," but they admit almost all the facts that I relied upon in my review. They left giant holes in my roof for the entire winter; despite numerous warm ups where they could have completed the job. They claim that they take care of their customers, but there was no urgency whatsoever in their approach to my roof. The big jobs took priority. My roofer is aware of these issues and related to me that they use Houseworks much less now. Apparently, its not just attorneys who find their performance and attitude objectionable.

We didn't use them. They were responsive and nice, but we haven't decided what we are going to do yet. They came out in November last year. We haven't used them because it is expensive. I suppose if we decide to do the work, they are the company we are going to do it with.

They had the best pricing and the reputation so I went with them. They did a good job.

First contact of the company was done at a home show in September. A week after, a rep. contacted us, and set an appointment for the site survey, All details of the location of the installation, pricing of the installation, and appointment for the installation were done on that visit. On the date of installation, the installer did not show on the appointed time. It was raining. I called the rep. and he called back an hour later to state that the company had canceled installations for the day. We set up another installation day a week later. It would have been nice if they had called us, instead of the other way around. A wasted half a day. On the second installation date, the installer showed up on time, and really just a tad early. He promptly got to work including laying down tarps to catch hole cutting debris. He also wore plastic booties on his shoes to protect the flooring. Installation took approx. 5 hours including about an hour away, as he stated he was missing some material. Clean up was adequate. Payment was in full on completion of the installation. There is a 10 yr warranty on the Sun Tunnel, and a 5 yr warranty on the installation. Very satisfied with the product. It has made a huge difference in daylighting of the upstairs of the house. I would use them again, should the skylight in our other bathroom need replacing.

We were able to make an appointment for installation with very little delay. Original appointment had to be rescheduled due to wet weather (which made for unsafe conditions since the work being performed required the installer to be on the roof of our home). We received a call requesting a change to the schedule the day prior to the appointment. At that time, we decided to chance the model of the fan we'd originally planned on having them install. They didn't have that model in stock, but anticipated receiving one in about a week. The desired fan was received a few days later and the fan was installed 5 days after our original appointment. No access to our attic was required. All work was done from the roof. Work was neat. We left them specific instructions (we weren't home during the installation) regarding leaving the old vent cover, placement of new fan, etc. They did everything we asked them to do. No mess was left afterwards, everything was cleaned up.

Delay in scheduling appointment but once had appointment, work went quickly and was done cleanly. I loved the advice I received about where to place it in the room and I absolutely could not be happier with the light it provides. Fabulous investment. Would do it again in a heartbeat!

The owners and employees all cared about doing the job right. I had a major concern about the mess of doing this kind of job. But I was very pleasantly surprised by the complete lack of mess. The work was done efficiently and neatly. It s been a number of months since the job was done and the skylights are beautiful and so importantly leak-free!

They came out for an estimate, but have failed to follow-up to do the work or even return several phone calls and messages. We decided this is not the way we want to do business with a company.
